I have recently inherited my gfs old hero, she upgraded to the evo. Before getting it she updated to 2.27.xxx.6 which apparently disables root access. How can i go about rooting my phone? Again, I am very much a n00b to android so a detailed explanation or a link/links to one or more would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Hey all,
I rooted my 2.1 Evo using Unrevoked about a month ago, and I keep putting off the OTA updates to 2.2. How do I update to 2.2 and maintain root (and wi-fi hotspot), if that's possible? My H-boot is 0.79.0000. That's about the extent I know about all this. Could someone shoot me a link in the right direction? Looking for some basic noob directions.
Eternally grateful.

I am running the same HTC version as you and used unrEVOked3. I would like to hear why you didn't want to root that way again. I just recently rooted my friends phone using unrEVOked3 too. email me at bobbyoftulsa @ yahoo.com so as not to crowd the thread. I haven't had a problem yet.. just want the opinion so I might start over.
As the title states, I am a super noob when it comes to rooting, and I've been trying to root my Motorola Cliq. I've been nearly bricked, so I've decided I'd ask around instead of trying to figure it out myself. Before I ask my questions, here's the facts:
SYSTEM VERSION: Blur_Version.1.3.20.MB200.Orange.en.FR
(The thing is, I live in and purchased the phone from T-Mobile in USA. I think I may have loaded a ROM or something that was for the FR version of the phone
It runs too slow, and main reason for rooting is to increase performance speed and whatever other perks come with rooting are certainly welcome.
Questions:
What is the easiest way to root my phone?
How can I check whether or not my phone was successfully rooted?
After rooting, what is the best, most functional, and most stable ROM I can apply to my phone, without losing too many features?
Thanks in advance, I really appreciate it!

Hi all,
I've recently got myself a DHD branded to 3 australia. As i'm very new to android, i tried to get some more info regarding debranding & rooting the device on xda and google, but yet i didn't couldn't get a definite answer.
I'm aware the visionary r12 gives us a temp and permroot. My question is, if i just want to debrand my DHD to an official WWE rom, do i need to do anything else like making goldcard beside getting a perm root??? or do i need to get s-off as well?
Sorry for the noob question but i really appreciate if someone could explain the process in a bit more details. thanks so much for your help. cheers jeff
Hi, been reading here for ages, but n00b videos and such have stopped me joining, but now I feel confident enough to move up to a custom ROM with instructions I'm able to follow.
I have a Galaxy S currently running JVQ Europe, although I'm in Australia.
I'd like to use MilkyS MOD but have a question or two first.
Will this go on JVQ?
Lagfix: Am I right in assuming that if I haven't added this, it's not there?
You talk of two versions, Odin and CWN, would one be easier for me than the other?
Please be patient with an old man. I did manage to root this phone when I upgraded 2.2 with 2.3.4 JVP, then JVQ, and I managed to get them on OK, I also changed the region code to Europe ..... but that's the extent of my "knowledge".
As far as I know, although I rooted JVP, I haven't rooted JVQ, so my phone isn't rooted, does this mod root, or need rooting first?
Thanks, Billy
if you post in the galaxy s forum, im sure you will get an answer
