Question? Has any one looked into porting the Droid X DLNA Stock Media Server over to the Droid Incredible?
That would Be awesome but doesn't the device have to have the DLNA support does the Incredible have DLNA support ? sorry if i sound like a noob just asking
I think there are a few media server apps for the incredible....Andromote being one of them. I know the capability is there for media serving...I just wasn't sure if the capable Droid X stock could port over to the Incredible? Maybe it does need support?

Does anyone know a way to connect the HTC Desire HD to a beamer or TV (or.. What i'm ultimately looking for, the Video-input of the Toyota Prius built in LCD).
Thanks!
DHD doesn't have a TV out option, maybe the hardware is able to do it, but don't get your hopes up.
only option i see to get content to a screen is via the DLNA option, which requires an DLNA adapter for your PRIUS.
this way you still cant get a screen view there, just photo's or video's or sound.
if you want android in your car, perhaps a cheap china tablet could work for you that has TV out?
> cheap china tablet could work for you that has TV out?
Do you have any Suggestions on that?
I was a bit let-down by the fact that my Prius could infact import the contacts from my phone, but not the contact pictures to browse through.. Obviously, to get the whole interconnected experience, you'd also want the touch screen on the car relay it's input to the phone... still a bit to much to ask for, I think...
Thanks for the tip!
Anyone actually tried to buy this http://cgi.ebay.com/1-4-Micro-HDMI-AV-Video-Cable-Type-D-HTC-HDTV-/140567818112?_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D2%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D1160370007762118256#ht_2020wt_1141
(just an example) to se if it actually works? I mean; isn´t DHD and EVO 4G close to similar in hardware?
Its not possible with the DHD, sadly. All you can do is stream audio/video with DLNA. But no screen mirroring for games or anything. I dont really care because i would never use it anyway. At home i have better devices that i can hook up to my tv And my girlfriend has an old TV without hdmi so... If i wanna take a movie to her place i put it on my DHD copy it to her laptop hook the lappy to the tv and off we go.
You´re right. Just thought it would be funny if it actually worked.

If the hardware wasn't put there by HTC, it will NOT work.
You say it NOW works? How? The hardware wasn't there to begin with, so cannot be there now.

Do you mind telling us how is it working now ?

Please post some proof of you getting MHL working on a DHD. I have that MHL usb cable which works fine on my friends Sensation, but I doesn't work on my DHD using any rom. I've tried ICS, CM7, stock and custom roms based on stock. None of them will detect the mhl cable.

When they actually become available, the Raspberry Pi could be good for getting DLNA on TVs. A lot cheaper than anything specifically for it (but you'd also need a wifi dongle)
No TV Out of any kind for Desire HD
Unfortunately there is no option for TV OUT for Desire HD, no RGB, no HDMI, no MHL, the only option is DLNA.
Hello all,
I have seen similar questions around here, but not for this phone yet.
We own a Samsung ue32C6730 LED TV. I myself have a Desire HD. I am wondering if there is any possibility to use my phone as a remote control for this TV.
Hope anyone can help me out
The TV uses infrared for remotes the desireHD doesn't have an infrared port.
I meant remote control through our home network. The TV is connected to our router and my phone has Wifi.
This first app should work for your Desire HD (if you have the right TV set):
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.samsung.remoteTV&feature=search_result
This second one only works on some samsung smartphones, I'm trying to get it to work on my HTC Desire (original):
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.samsung.smartview&feature=search_result
If anyone knows how to get this second app to work, please let me know,
Grtz
Does anyone have the Motorola Atrix Lapdock? If so can you connect the Razr HD to it? I just picked one up online for 40 bucks and am curious.
Nope. Webtop was removed from the new Razr interactions. I was pretty bummed.

I wonder if there is an APK floating around out there....
There’s a system dump on almost every Razr forum. I've seen a couple guys mod their lap docks to work in mirror mode, but as far as the whole Webtop, maybe someone has a tut on it...

Already asked the question here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1972838
Apparently it does work - but with HDMI mirror mode, so you will get big chunky icons and fonts on the screen (regardless of being in 720p). Difference to Webtop 3.0 is that Webtop automatically changes the DPI turning it into "tablet mode" as opposed to "Phone mode". Webtop 2.0 uses Linux and not confident that this will be compatible.

Perhaps botbrew basil + debian + vnc + mirroring?
There are plenty of CHROOT solutions out there (Debian, Ubuntu, Backtrack) - just not sure how well they are. I've decided to choose the RAZR classic instead of the HD to replace my Atrix until someone figures out how to change the DPI settings on the fly between modes and getting higher resolutions (full screen) on the Lapdock.

To answer the OP's actual question, Yes you can connect it. It takes a bit of tinkering though. You have to dissasemble the dock part and revers the direction of the usb and hdmi ports. The lapdock will only function as a mirrored display + keyboard/mouse. It works none the less. I am sure the webtop app is redundant at this point in time due to the convergence of androids desktop like features.
The display itself is a bit washed out but a great buy if you want a bit more screen real estate while traveling for netflix, hulu movies etc.
Also, If you are saavy and they are in stock, you can go to radio shack and pick these up for $9.97. I work at RS and have bought most of the remaining ones from our district so good luck elsewhere!
I saw this video today and wondering if my moto mb525 defy can work that, too
I heard all smartphone can use DLNA so my moto might able to work on that htc device right?
i m not sure if i can display all my screen on tv.
If your device has DLNA it can communicate with other devices without problem regardless the brand.
Anyone know of a way to mirror the screen from the Maxx HD to a HDTV or Roku box? Something like the apple airplay equivalent. I just got a Roku box and have been playing around with it and I have used apps like Twonky Beam and Juice, which will beam content like music or pictures or video that's stored on the phone to the Roku. But I want to be able to stream anything that's on the screen, like play a concert from Concert Vault on the phone and stream it to the Roku.
Not sure anything like this is available.
Allot of new phones being released will have miracast. This is the technology standard you'll need for android. I'm guessing its a hardware thing so may not come to RAZR HD. ;( hope I'm wrong.

As far as I know Roku still doesn't support dlna, so I don't think you can beam to your TV via the Roku. There is a Plex channel but I think it only streams from a pc on your local network.

It looks like Doubletwist for android has airplay support, would work with Apple TV. Have to decide if it's worth it to return my Roku and get an Apple TV. It looks like Concert Vault is no longer free anyways so that was the main reason I wanted it, to stream concert videos from Concert Vault to the TV.

This phone does have dual band WiFi so it's possible we could see Miracast support in a future update. At least, that's what I'm hoping for because DLNA is kind of a hassle, and really not supported at all by today's streaming apps like Netflix. Recent news says Netflix and YouTube are looking into another protocol called DIAL, which is really an interface where you pick the video, but the box connected to the TV does the streaming from the internet. I think that is the future for this kind of thing. Why should I have to stream it from my phone? Same for music services.
If you're streaming from your own personal collection, then DLNA and PlugPlayer work well if you have a DLNA server and a receiver like a PS3.

I thought Miracast had to be built into the chip, like Tegra 3. Not sure a firmware update would do it.

The only thing required for Miracast is WiFi Direct support (which most devices released in the past year or two have). Assuming we see a 4.2 update, which has Miracast mirroring baked in, all we would need are receivers to display the content (it seems not many exist at this point).
