I noticed there is an iphone app for justin tv. I would pay money for an android app. Any takers?
Well, JTV is working on an Android JTV app, I have the beta right now, but unfortunately its only broadcast. And they plan on having it like that for a while. Like on Iphone, you can only watch and not broadcast, so for Android they decided to only have broadcast. They have said that in future updates for the Iphone that they want to add broadcasting for them, but haven't said anything about Android. I'm going to assume the JTV app will be available sometime next month, as they are in beta 6 I believe.

Only problem with that is that they keep updating it. And I also don't know how to get the apk, if anyone wants to tell me how to get it then sure I'd post it on here.
Should be in system/app/. You can use a file explorer to navigate to it. Then copy to sd card. You have to have root also.
ohh man.. i have been waiting for this app to come for forever....
the only thing is i wanna watch not broadcast

What about use Titanium Backup to backup the app, then use Astro file manager to copy it?
Do you need root to install Titanium Backup? (nvm, need root to run Titanium Backup)

what's the update on this?
Ok so download the android sdk. Extract it into a folder and open a command prompt. Connect your phone to USB and make sure it says USB debugging. If not go to Settings->Applications->Enable USB Debugging. Then perform the following commands in the command prompt:
Code:
adb shell
cd /system/app
ls
exit
Look around for what could possibly be the application and when you find it perform the following:
Code:
adb pull /system/app/app_filename.apk .
Replacing app_filename.apk with whatever the filename is.
Hey guys, finally rooted my phone. I just need help getting the apk, if someone could help please? I've tried the adb thing but its not working for some reason.
What do you mean? Getting the beta off your phone?

Sounds sucky/
retrieving app
d/l terminal emulator, open it and
su
mount -o remount,rw /dev1/block1/mtdblock4 /system
cd /system/app
cp appnamehere.apk /sdcard
exit
the app should be on your SD card now and you can upload it here.
**EDIT** when you 'cd /system/app' you can type ls to see the files that exist there, scroll and look for the justin tv one and you have to type the appname ExAcTlY hoW it Is (case sensitive)
Does anyone who's a bit more versed with this stuff have the app.?

I know there are 3(or more) existing swype threads. I KNOW THIS. I just threw my swype kb file folder from black glass into the full version swype for those that wanted a BlackGlass swype that didnt know how to do it themselves. Get it HERE. If any one wants a new color lemme know and ill put it up when i get a chance, so we have more colors to choose from.
If you cant get it make sure you hav3 done the following:
for those who are getting expired messages try removing all traces of Swype:
1. In terminal,
Code:
rm /data/app/com.swype.android.inputmethod.apk
2. In terminal,
Code:
rm -r /data/data/com.swype.android.inputmethod
3. Clear your dalvik-cache
I've not gotten an expiration yet, but hopefully this works for you

its always worked for me. Im currently using this exact apk in my rom. Not sure what the problem could be. You can always take the libs from it and throw them in your roms lib folder (using root explorer on an already installed system), thats how i make it work out of the box in my mods. It should just install, i normally use andro or root exp to install apps that werent included in the rom. Root commander works great too. I dont use adb for apk installation.
I tried pushing it first then used Astro to install

right on. if not pm n ill get it going for you. i have a few diff. copies, but this is the one im currently using. I had to mess with it some to get it to work with a new rom install(its a choice from get go) so i learned a little about installing it
Not working for me either... used Linda and Estrongs file explorers... neither worked.
Do you need a previous version of Swype installed for it to work?
Won't install for me either

Yeah im going to guess if you had swype previously installed this one probably wont install for you.

I used Advanced task manager to uninstall my previous version, then Estrongs File Explorer to install this one, works fine for me. Thanks!

system/app...you will probably need to list the files to see exactly what its named to remove.
adb remount
adb shell
cd system/app
ls
rm whateveritsnamed.apk
This is a developer site right? Well this is just an app install. I put it up to help ppl out not piss them off. Ive listed the best way to do it and it works FLAWLESSLY. Please do the following or listen to my previous instructions before threadbombing...This is not hard, so please calm down and try not to get upset. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY
INSTRUCTIONS
1)REMOVE ANY EXISTING SWYPE YOU MAY ALREADY HAVE
2)MAKE SURE ITS ACTUALLY GONE(it can be pesky to remove)
3)DOWNLOAD THE APK TO SD
4)USE ANDROZIP FILE EXPLORER TO INSTALL THE FILE(i think astro works too)
5)ENABLE YOUR SWYPE OPTION FROM settings/language keyboards
6)LONG PRESS ON A TEXT ENTRY FIELD
7)TAP INPUT METHOD
8)CHOOSE SWYPE TO USE IT
And lastly if this does not work for you and you still really want swype i have a rom i just put up yesturday that has swype, android kb, and htc kb included and you just select whichever you want to use(no installing anything). Good luck AND MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU(im not a star wars freak, just seemed like the right thing to say)
Thanks, was missing my black kb, any chance we could get the micro black version? Mine quit on me yesterday morning
in your build.prop replace the current text with this: you can get things like tv.com back
Code:
ro.build.description=passion-user 2.2.1 FRG83 60505 release-keys
ro.build.fingerprint=google/passion/passion/mahimahi:2.2.1/FRG83/60505:user/release-keys
i would upload one for people to flash but as some many people are on diff roms/kernels it would just cause more issues then its worth best way to go about fixing it is pulling the file from your phone (or the zip from teh rom your on). swapping out the text and pushing it back to /system
all credit goes to Decad3nce for the fix

adb pull /system/build.prop
Then I edited the 2 lines on my PC with notepad++ and saved. Then I put it on my sdcard, remounted /system readwrite and copied it over to /system/build.prop and then rebooted.
adb push build.prop /sdcard/build.prop
adb shell
su (if your ROM didn't already drop you in to root, and check your phone for the superuser popup)
mount -t rfs -o remount,rw /dev/block/stl9 /system
cat /sdcard/build.prop > /system/build.prop

yes, and after rebooting a rechecked my build.prop file to make sure it took, and it was correct

Can I get some clarification on this? I am using Mammon 1.0.3.1 and cannot get my sprint football ap to work.
Would this be an example of what this would fix?
Could the MSID number in my phone being different from my phone number be the reason it doesn't think this is a SPrint phone?

Just a quick question from someone who isn't that experienced with all of these things:
Could this program be used to remove bloatware? As in, the preinstalled carrier/regional apps?
I used to do this with Root Explorer, but this seems no longer possible under froyo and this looks like a fairly easy solution to that problem.
Thanks for your help.

I had to use a different method that involved pushing files threw adb.. since the method that was all about temp enabling root and using the terminal emulator was useless

HKM said:
If you don't want to do it manually then you can do it easily via FileExp go use Astro or Root Explorer. From what you are saying I have my money on you didn't properly do TempROOT. I say go do TempROOT again then try what I suggested for PermROOT.
UPDATE: Here I found you Youtube videos how to do step by step.
tempROOT> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gylaXOCNzqU
permROOT> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sy_aqKoeev4
Use the howto from Theunlockr video posted above it maybe easier for you to follow.
Well since you are up to the PermROOT I take it you have TempROOT, if so as you saying you have root.sh in root dir inside /sdcard so it would look like /sdcard/root/root.sh for the absolute path. Also you have console right? If not go download Terminal Emulator. Then type in "su" and press enter SU=Super User or @wheel,root permission base. Then use "cd /sdcard/root" press enter CD = Change Directory. Then do "sh root.sh" and press enter as sh is shall execute command. So it would look like this below:
su
cd /sdcard/root
sh root.sh
Now just do restart and make sure you have S=OFF as you will see it on top in HBoot screen. When you are back on go open Visionary+ and unclick TempROOT on boot and click TempROOT now. Then look below and click on Attempt PermROOT Now.

1) are you extracting and storing just the root folder to the SD card
and
2a) are you putting a space between the "d" and the "/".
2b) are you putting a space between the "h" and the "r".
it should look like this
$ su
# cd /root/sdcard
# sh root.sh

if you just type cd/sdcard/root or shroot.sh it will not work.
======
edit
you also have "change /system to r/w" for it to work properly.
As neidlinger stated you have to correctly type it in. But I came across people who does not understand root which is your direct absolute path in this case "/sdcard" now if you got confused with root folder and created new dir then its "/sdcard/root" which makes no diff as you can do it still.
HKM said:

^ this is not even needed but if you created /root folder inside /sdcard then you have to use it. Normally it makes no diff as you can use CD command to switch between it but people who don't understand console find it confusing.
So, I just bought Fast Five on bluray and it came with a digital copy. Hooray and all that. However, when I go through the steps to download that copy through Pocket Blu, it tells me it won't let me download it because my phone is rooted and this presents a security concern.
Anyone found a way around this, other than unrooting your phone?
You could try to rename the su file location and see if that helps. They usually detect those folders
I think I saw a solution to that in the Nook Color subforum here at XDA a while ago, might have been something with Google video not working on rooted devices, was a little while ago.
Might want to browse around over there and see what you can come up with, you can probably take what they figured out and apply it to your problem.

Glad you found it.
Just note that it may vary by device.
Only downside is that you have to manually flash su from recovery after to get it back. None of my root enabled file explorers were able to rename the file back to su (not surprising since it looked for the su command to be able to do so).

Actually, I just did this.
Open task manager and kill pocket blu
Connect usb to your computer
adb shell (on your computer)
su
find / -name su
mount -o remount,rw <location of /system> /system
mv /system/bin/su /system/bin/mu
Launch pocket blu
Redeem code.
Back on your computer
mv /system/bin/mu /system/bin/su
Note that the location of su can vary but will likely be in /system.
However, I could not play the movie while it was rooted. I have to unroot in order to playback.

Root explorer allowed me to rename it "mu" start the download, and name it back to "su" as long as I didn't back out of root explore or fc it. I'm guessing it still maintained the root privileges it was granted upon the start of the app. Either that or I just got lucky.
