Getting help using my Samsung Solstice a887 seems to be a real problem. Samsung won't help and at&t sure won't and Straight Talk is almost useless. I need to change the MMS settings however it seems that I may have to get some help doing so. Can anyone help with this? This is not a true android phone...

The other day i found the Galaxy s and dont use android cause i have a HD2 but was wondering if there is a way to reflash the phone so everything gets deleted off it, was gonna possibly give it to my brother or sell. I know Verizon uses CDMA as a band but is there anyway to use it for tmobile? Dont think so but someone might know more. Thanks!
first thing, but this is not a dev question, please post in the correct section next time to keep the dev section uncluttered
secondly, there is no way to get a VZ phone to work on tmobile. Two completely different network technologies. The ESN on the phone you found is probably blocked anyways
"Found" phone?
Might want to call Verizon with the IMEI and they can probably return it to its owner. Or the registered Google email address. Or...
5 Finger discount.. maybe be a decent person and call one of the saved numbers in the phone and try to find the owner.
Try booting into recovery and wiping the phone.

This has been an issue with a few carriers. It is how the carriers set up mms there are a few fixes for T-Mobile but nothing for sure. If the apns don't work and 3rd party apps don't work then it may not be fixable
i really dont know anything but i just messed around with the apn and pic got a lil better and bigger now if i were to get my phone rooted will there be a better chance to mess with the settings? ive read other members fix the problem but wish i can get some help

The best help you will get it by searching and reading. As this only happens on carriers that the phone was not made for like T-Mobile and some other small time carriers. Rooting alone may not allow you to do it but a custom rom might.
ok..i had a normal size mms right now but i dont know wut i did so im trying to figure out how i had it but i will take ur advise and just keep reading and researching thanks!
still no luck on fixing my small MMS on my HTC 4g simple mobile
I would try rooting your phone and try a stable ROM that is out there. I prefer Android Revolution HD because there is not much in the way of noticeable user interface. It is very smooth and stable..
i really dont know about rooting or anyone that roots phones
Wondering if someone wanted to help me out by posting an easy way to root the phone, and maybe get off this terrible 2.2 OS, best rom around? I like AOSP if thats available. maybe cm9/10?
Any other sugjestions of stuff I should do with it.
Also, can this phone be unlocked free? It's for tmobile and im AT&T, i think i found a thread somewhere on google but I lost it.
Thanks guys!

Hi guys,
My phone has had a wierd bug and has now been send to the third party repair shop Samsung uses for the second time.
I don't really have high expectations they will fix the problem.
So my question is, did any of you guys get a replacement when you send your phone in for the third time?
And did you get a Nexus S back or another phone like the Galaxy Nexus?
And is it possible to pay extra and upgrade to the Galaxy Nexus if they still have a Nexus S?

What's the issue? Samsung is pretty nice about repairing devices, including those that were messed by the user. Doesn't mean they'll replace the phone.

My phone won't recieve push messages when it is in idle and is using data.
I have tried almost every version of Android, even the ones that used to work before.
But I have send it in once and they didn't manage to repair it.
I called them today and they said they have no clue what the problem is at this moment.
So it is more a "what if" question.
I would like to know if people lately have recieved a nexus S or another phone when it had to be replaced.

Ah I see.
I would imagine most people would have sent their Nexus a maximum of once to repair though, but hopefully someone can help you with your rhetorical question.
I personally don't believe Samsung would go as far as exchanging your phone for such an issue though.

Yeah, it seems like a little issue, but it pretty much destroys the whole purpose of a "Smart" phone.
It won't receive any messages what so ever if you don't wake it up.
It's almost as bad as not having reception when in idle.
But maybe you are right, I sure as hell hope not.
Hello, I'm new to this forum. I'm a n00b when it comes to Android lol. My Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate got messed up. My friend rooted it and flashed a ROM on it because I didn't know how to do it. Now, when I turn it on, it won't startup. So, I'm getting my friend to fix the problem because I don't know what to do. Anyway, I have a spare LG Optimus One handy that I wanna use in the meantime. But I don't know what to do. I'm not sure if I have to unlock it or not. When I turn it on, it says "No Service." Does this mean that its locked? I bought an unlock code online. But when I try unlocking it, I'm not too sure what to do. Can somebody help me please? And if its unlocked already, how do I get it to work? I put in my SIM card from my Fascinate into the Optimus One but nothing happens. It still says no service. Can somebody help me, please!? I don't know what to do and I'm freaking out! I'm such a n00b when it comes to this stuff. I don't know anything about Androids lol.

I dont remember the code.
Try 2945#*509# and then enter the unlock code in the pop-up.
