ClockworkRecovery: In Need of a Tester who can't Wipe SDEXT - Desire Android Development

I need a tester that is unable to wipe SD-Ext when doing a ROM install with a data wipe. Please contact me on IRC:
http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=koush

Bump. 10chars

Mate i can wipe when it is ext3 but it fails to mount ext2 in the latest. Don't know if that helps?

If you can help me out, I'll hook you up with a setting to fix your recovery button problem

The point is that maybe, just maybe he was doing something else 3 hours and 10 minutes later. Maybe the poor guy needed to use the loo. Christ.
Consider this a free bump.

Im still using 1.8.2.1 this version works fine!

Yep, same here.
Killed 3 hours last night trying to get ext3 formatted in recovery and no go.
As a last resort i've put the 1.8.2.1 recovery image back - works fine.

Right, lets give 1.8.2.1 a go, then.

Alas, but still unable to backup my ext.
At this point i'm just ready to give up and try a new card, install from scratch.

Oh please help me with a new recovery button lol. I want to help out but we seem to never be online at the same time. We must be at opposite ends of the earth ha. 2.0.1.0 backs up my ext3 just fine so I'd just love power button to work in that : D

Koush,
If we've ran unrevoked and now have permanent recovery, would running a recovery update in ROM Manager affect anything?

Hey, great work on updating Rom Manager! Recovery 2.0.1.4 is able to mount my ext3 partition again and wipe it. Again, great work!
I just rooted, so I didn't buy Rom manager yet, but I'll head to the market now to do so!

Help with recovery image!!!

Yes I have searched for an answer but cannot find one. I am rooted but decided to update my 1.2.3 to the 1.5.2 recovery image. I am going back through the steps in the wonderful guide "theresthatguy" put out and when I try to push the image to the card it says that it is a read only file system. So now what? I tried just moving it over in Windows then flashing it but it says file not found when I do that. Help anyone?
Really? I figured this would be easy for someone or are we spending to much time on all the drama. Just looking for help. This is what forums are for right? Sharing knowledge.

format your card and make sure your rooted first.
sorry your being neglected buddy
im trying to wade through the threads and help sort out the problems
are you using the flashrec method? thats the easiest way.
hope i helped.
You can also just mount the sd card and copy and paste. There is also a newer recovery image out. 1.6.2
I have never been able to use the push to sd method I just move them to the sd card through win and then continue as far as not being able to see it you need to make sure that you
Code:
cd/sdcard/
flash_image recovery recovery-RA-heroc-v1.5.2.img
wait till you get # then
Code:
reboot recovery
I would suggest going to 1.6.2 though
Thank you for the replies. I did the flashrec method origionally because I was having the same problems. Now the flashrec just shows an error and cannot do anything with it. I tried reloading with no luck. I did a format but maybe I messed it up. I didn't know which one to do.

I am rooted. I get a # when connected to adb. I guess I will just keep messing with it. I am going to try the 1.6.2 though. Thanks. By the way? how do you format your card? I don't see that option.
I'm reading this of my phone so there may be a solution already, but here is another idea.. If you can get to tyre market.. Download ROM manager, flash their recovery image from within the app
then towards the bottom there is an option to flash the 1.6 RA.. It worked on my wife's phone when I couldn't get adb to work loading 1.5 RA

also if you flash a rom that supports app2sd make sure you format and partition your sd card in recovery as well. you want swap/ext2/fat, you can allocate the size for each.
me i have 96mb swap / 1024 ext2 / and the rest in fat

no go into recovery and create a partition. it should go in order of swap/ext2/fat. you can also convert your ext2 to ext3 or 4 as well. are you saying it isn't giving you that option?
Correct. I don't have a create partition option. Hoping to get that with new recovery image.

same issue here
I was also having that same error as well...I hope that senior member is correct...
but I believe its because you may not have have a partitioned sd card!!! See sd-ext is what the recovery determines as a partitioned space in your sd card. If you dont have one it will read an error or skip it. If your using amon ra you can have it skip the sd-ext. Amonra 2.3 has fixed that error. Just a piece of code running and actually doing nothing! Now theres a hook written in to skip it if it doesnt find sd-ext.

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S (GT-I9000) and, from what i gather, i couldn't use Amonra with this device.
I normally use ClockworkMod 2 or 3. But i could also use recovery2e or 3e.
Do you know some method to fix this problem using this recoveries?
Thank you.
It is not really considered a problem. Your davlik cache is being wiped correctly. This has been discussed and looked into extensively in the MT4G forums. It is just something with Clockwork. But like I said, not an issue.

I am also having this problem and cannot ignore it as I cannot load into the phone and trying to factory wipe or install via CwM just keeps getting this error. My phone is now stuffed as far as I can see

ClockworkMod Recovery - Error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure!

When I try to wipe data/factory reset in CW, I get:
Error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure!

What does this mean and what should I do?
Look at my thread on the same topic below. Got some good advice from the xda gurus.
If u get an error in clockworkmod about it being unable to mount the sdcard, try just taking out the sdcard and putting it back in that's wat happened to me before. And what version of cwm r u running?

Try this: copy the content of the sdcard to the computer. Format the card using the computer but not a quick format, rather a full format. Then copy your files back and see if it works now.
All sdcard develop bad bit issues over time... a full format should help.
Post results.

[TOOL]::DARKSIDE::SUPER::WIPE::[SKYROCKET][ext4][2.8.2012]

*WARNING! I Am Not Responsible For Anything That Happens To Your Device*
** PLEASE BE AWARE! THIS SCRIPT IS FOR "T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II" WILL ALSO WORK ON "AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket" ONLY! IF YOU FLASH THIS ON ANY OTHER DEVICE YOU MIGHT HAVE A VERY EXPENSIVE PAPER WEIGHT! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! PLEASE CONTACT ME FIRST IF ANY OTHER QUESTIONS **
:: DARKSIDE.SUPER.WIPE ::
..A DARKSIDE DEVELOPMENT..
My Original thread is found [HERE]
This is a small script i threw together a while back. I have incorporated in many of my ROMS, usually runs with a installation flag '-wipe'. The script does exactly as the title explains. It is SUPER.WIPE that does the most thorough wipe possible. This exceeds anything that CWM is capable of from the menu options. This will format and erase EVERYTHING on your /system, /data, /cache partions with EXT4 file system. It WILL NOT wipe SD CARD or EMMC... After it is complete with format and earse, it will align all disks partitions properly. This is a great tool to flash right before installing any new ROM on your device. No need to worry if you have wiped properly. Let the script do it for you! ENJOY!
Instructions on using DARKSIDE.SUPER.WIPE:
* WILL NOT WIPE SD CARD OR EMMC *
IMMEDIATELY BEFORE FLASHING ROM OF YOU CHOICE, DO THE FOLLOWING...
1. Place on ROOT of your SD card.
2. Boot into Recovery Mode
3. Do a NAND BACKUP!!!
4. Flash DARKSIDE.SUPER.WIPE
5. Stay inside recovery
6. Flash desired ROM.
7. After flashing is complete, Reboot...
8. Done!

This is not ground breaking material. Just does a more thorough wipe and will align disk properly after formatting partitons.
I used this on my last flash and it worked great! Thanks for bringing it to the skyrocket.

Well I would think you wouldn't. Your SD card and internal SD card aka emmc has all you pictures and other personal junk.. so we don't wipe those

So is the 3e recovery wipe process in the fix force close thread still helpful to do too or does this give you the same result?
Also would it be even better to format sd cards along with flashing this? Or is there not really any additional benefit of that?
THis and 3e recovery is completely different. We have problem with CWM not wiping data correctly therefore file corruption happens. By formatting ur sdcard you will lose everything that's in there. No need to do format sd card. Just flash this when you are doing fresh rom installation.

[Q] : Link2SD : Keep getting mount warning

Hello!
So last weekend I've installed the latest nightly build of Cyanogenmod on my Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-5830D. Before that, I had the stable version with Link2SD installed and all was going perfectly except for one little thing which was supposed to be resolved in the nightly build.
Since then, Link2SD has been giving me mount warnings every time I reboot wether I use its own Quick Reboot option or a propre reboot.
I tried recreating the scripts, recreating the partitions, putting back the stable release of CM7 and even going back to stock ROM and then reinstalling CM7 stable but nothing does it.
I've also tried to format the partition in ext2, ext3, ext4 and FAT32. I've used both gParted and the built in partition option from Clockworkmod.
I'm sort of out of solutions here.
Does anyone have a solution for me?
Thanks!
What is the warning?

I give so many details and forget this! Ha ha! Sorry.
It says that the second partition could not be mounted during boot time and that therefore the apps on it cannot be seen by my launcher and that I need to recreate the scripts.
Strangely it's working now. I installed S2E and ran it once, checked "mount ext4", rebooted and Link2SD was able to do its job. I was even able to uninstall S2E and Link2SD is still working fine!
Weird
