Adobe today started shipping Flash 10.1 for Mobile. The initial release is targeted at devices running Android 2.2 and, initially, will only work with the Nexus One. However, it did inadvertently confirm a number of Android 2.2 upgrades for a handful of other devices that would let them run Flash, including the Dell Streak, Motorola's Droid and Milestone, HTC's Desire, Droid Incredible and Evo 4G, and the Samsung Galaxy S.

Hiya! Me and my HTC Desire are looking forward for the lovely Froyo!
Shouldn't be long before the Nexus gets the official FroYo OTA Can't wait

<Rant>
Since the release of the htc desire here in the uk I have seen a explosion of my friends buying it/ getting android. Ive gone from knowing one person with a android to 10 in 2 months!
All very well and good but being a htc hero owner for nearly a year now I cannot more and more help think that the Sense/MotoBlur and other skins over the stock android really arent worth it.
This may fall on deaf ears here at xda with such a huge CustomROM development scene but every time google release a new android version, I have less and less reason to root and flash a customROM onto my phone!
Back when android was 1.5/1.6 it was a ugly looking beast which HTC sense did brilliantly to fix. It was the first android phone to make me (and many others) go "wow". Such that is the pace that android and its manufactures travel at, within a couple of months the hero dropped from #1 to #4 of top android phones. The main reason being of course the android pace of upgrades
since 2.x android has looked good, its picked up sense features and really is not that far behind the sense experience (apart from KB).. I could happily live without sense if i was on 2.x and would much prefere to have a update within 2 weeks then 6months that htc(and other companies) seem to provide.
The problem is I now want a incredible or a evo4 but I would prefere to be able to buy it with a Stock Android build that google will support like they do on the Nexus one.
Am I the only one who feels this?
</Rant>
It's a trade-off. With the evo you do have the option to use the stock android launcher though. But it still is up to the rom scene to do most of the work regarding updating the rom. Though HTC has stated that they will have, at least the evo, sense available for with 2.2 before July (I think the unofficial date is June 26 or something).
(OT)
I though the UK only had GSM carriers/towers and didn't know there would be a GSM version of the evo, and I didn't know there would be a GSM incredible(Verizon branded in the US)
I haven't heard or read anything about the HTC EVO or Incredible being produced in GSM versions. HTC have continuously stated that there won't be any GSM models of either phone. As far as I'm aware, anyway.
Do you have any links/sources that say otherwise?
Make sure you take note on the extensive time it takes to update a device with a custom UI. Learn from the eris, which JUST got its first official OTA, and even that was released pretty buggy. Even the Droid took a while, but that's just a Moto issue, and it didn't take near as long as others, as it has had 2 OTA's since it's release. Lets just hope HTC has worked out the kinks in their compilation and distribution of working software.
Froyo is finally rolling out to all Nexus One users over the air, with plans to have it deployed to most people by the end of the week.
The Nexus Blog reports:
Starting today, Nexus One users will begin to receive the Android 2.2 (codenamed Froyo) over-the-air software update on their phones. This update provides some great new features including support for making your handset a portable hotspot and support for Adobe Flash within the browser. For a complete list of everything we’ve included in Android 2.2, please see the Android 2.2 Platform Highlights.

Just curious what phones and OS you are running?
I'm new to Android having started with the 1G iPhone and then the Palm Pre. I recently purchased the epic 4G and then discovered XDA forums. The epic was my first root and experience with changing roms, so i felt somewhat comfortable purchasing and rooting the gTab. I have to say, compared to the epic community which can be a little rude to each other, you all have been a breath of fresh air and a great experience! Thanks to everyone for all the info and constant updates

Agreed... I think with any 'community' the bigger it gets the worse it may get. Right now there is a small eclectic group here and several have been here from the beginning. The nice things about this group is that it was evident from the get go that the UI on this things was crap so it's been a HUGH group effort in true development (headed by a few very dedicated guys), people that know what the potential is and want to work together to have a good usable product.
I personally have the Vibrant (Samsung Galaxy S) and got it day one. Running an Overclocked Froyo ROM with a front facing camera. I've had Quadrants at 2600 (stock was about 850). I have owned every Windows phone, Palm, and Blackberry and this was my first Android. Needless to say because of open source and people like I've met here, I don't plan on looking back anytime soon.
Enjoy your toy, it's very addictive.
currently:
g1, g2, nexus
had palm centro,treo650, and some old kyocera and misc palm based phone(s).
I have the HTC EVO 4G with grooveDROID 1.01 ROM. That coupled with the free Wireless Tether App and my G Tablet equals wireless fidelity for the G tablet.
Android rocks!
I guess I am a hold over on everything... (2.00 here)! and still using my 1 1/2 year old touchpro 2 winmo with mightyrom OS. Have wifi tether built in and everything works just fine for me. Using it to tether my gtablet all day at work and on the go. Have 10 more months on the contract and figure I will ugrade to android phone then. Much will change in 10 months
Droid X here, running Apex froyo with Gingerbread theme. This is my second Android Phone started with the original Moto Droid 1. Have had two Blackberry's the storm and tour. Got tired of replacing them so I jumped to android. I saw a review on the sears site about the gtab saying xda was all over it and knew this was the tablet I was looking for! I respect the guys that dev for the gtab it makes this device usable! Gotta love the the android community and what they do! Thanks to everyone taking their time to make our device so much better!

N900/Maemo5.
myTouch 3G and Nexus One both running CM
I went from original iPhone to iPhone 3GS then Nexus One. Don't think I could ever go back to an iPhone. I have no clue where I'll go next unless a better Android phone comes out on AT&T. Still rockin my unlimited data plan.
Oh and I'm running CM 6.1.1. I recently tried a GB rom but not everything was working and CM was faster. Can't wait for Gingerbread to hit CM
OG droid 1 that's why I don't complain so much about wiping data. I'm used to doing that with my droid. I used to flash ROMs almost on a daily basis but not so much anymore.
At the moment running the Samsung Captivate - Yes I currently have 2 products that I had to import from the US to Australia
Before that in reverse order I had Galaxy i9000, Nexus One, HTC Hero, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G and before that a whole heap of Nokias from the N95 to the 5150.

Haha same here. Captivate + Gtab + AT&T Nexus One.
Before that Xperia X10 and a bunch of crappy WinMo phones.
HD2 - both Android 2.2 and Windows Mobile 6.5
See my sig. Love my phone.

Like Pershoot, I have a Nexus One currently. I had a G1 on launch day, and god, what a craptastic phone that was when it was launched (slow, laggy, buggy, sucky, but showed the potential of Android). I spent quite some time suffering as an iPhone jailbreaker and unlocker, starting with an iPhone 2G and later with an iPhone 3G.
Back in the day I was into the Treo devices. Treo 600 was my first smartphone, and I had a Treo 650 for a long time, which ran the venerable but fantastic ChatterEmail. Push IMAP, like K-9 mail, but back in 2004 or thereabouts.
Rockin the Original Droid since launch day over a year ago and used to running many roms on it but have been using Ultimate Droid Rom's for the past few months and its awesome, cant wait to hopefully get my g tablet for xmas so that i can experience the greatness you all talk about on these forums.
If its not a gift i may make it a gift for myself haha.
Evo 4G with myns warm two point two
G Tab CM 6.2.0
Before that HTC Hero, HTC touch pro 2, HTC touch pro, Samsung Instinct( worst attempt @ a smart phone ever made), HTC touch, Motorola q9' numerous Nextel junk, and it all started with the startac!
Droid X for me... OG Droid for the GF...
Spent the summer tweaking a Witstech A81-E tablet. Recently purchased a NookColor and literally days later received a gift of a Viewsonic G-tab.
The original Droid 1 running Bugless Beast 0.6 with a Slayher kernel....wifi tether and share gps over bluetooth for a truly amazing navigation system!!!
My first Android was a G1 which I've now passed to my wife to get her hooked (and she is). It's running CM6.1. I'm running a stock MT4G but am very much looking forward to diving into the first dual core phone that hits Tmobile next year with honeycomb (as long as it's not a Samsung).
Samsung Captivate Android OS 2.2 Upgrade Released Then Quickly Pulled

The long-awaited upgrade to Android OS 2.2 (Froyo) for AT&T's Samsung Captivate was released today... only to be quickly withdrawn.
Currently, it's not clear if this system software upgrade was released by mistake, or if a bug was found in it almost immediately.
This is just another blow to users of the Captivate, which was released last summer with Android OS 2.1, even though the latest version of Google's mobile operating system at that time was already OS 2.2.
Although Samsung has committed to releasing an upgrade for this model, and at one point said this would be available by the end of November, users of this smartphone are still waiting.
Since then, Google has introduced Android OS 2.3, which is currently available only on the Samsung Nexus S.
New in Android OS 2.2 (Froyo)
Android OS 2.2 is required for devices to run Adobe Flash Player 10.1, which allows the web browser to fully make use of websites that use Flash for navigation, games, and showing video.
This version of Google's operating system also contains a number of other enhancements, such as faster performance thanks to a new JIT compiler and the ability to store applications on a removable memory card.
In addition, Samsung has promised that this system software upgrade will include a fix for a bug that sometimes causes these smartphones to be unable to get a GPS lock.

This news is days old and there have been at least 5 threads about this already...mods please close this.

something pretty significant has happened (release of froyo source for both epic and vibrant). Both were released pretty quietly and have started seeing some reports of the epics push starting the 21st.
I don't think it will be long before we see the source released for the captivate.
Its kind of weird for me personally...
Do I really care about the official Froyo 2.2? Not really...
Do I want AT&T/Samsung to release it? If they promised it, they should...
I only want to see it release to know that a major company kept their word. Plus, if it helps the devs here release other ROMs based on a true US Cappy build, then I'm all for it.
I'd like to see it released, but I'm not so sure that I'll be rushing back to stock so I can update to it.
And the story is wrong. Froyo was never released... no one downloaded it.
The only thing that was released was some instructional pages.
Posting a story that is wrong is even worse then posting rumors.
HTC Amaze 4G
The HTC Amaze 4G Android 4.0 update rolled out on May 27th. And while HTC has only released a vague statement in regards to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, we can draw some conclusions of our own. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is an incremental upgrade and because the Amaze 4G had no problem getting ICS, we assume that it has a solid chance of getting Android 4.1
Unfortunately, HTC has promised anything yet so it and T-Mobile could ultimately end up leaving it on Ice Cream Sandwich, considering the device’s age.
HTC Droid Incredible 2
HTC and Verizon have yet to device if the Droid Incredible 2 will even get Ice Cream Sandwich, let alone Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. HTC has said it will decide by August whether the device will get Android 4.0 and if it does, there is an outside chance it could get Android 4.1.
We just wouldn’t count on it at this point, not with its age and the vagueness of the ICS update.
HTC EVO 3D
The HTC EVO 3D just received the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update. Users of the Sprint version though are unfortunately still waiting for the software to roll out. It will arrive though.
This is a sign that Android 4.1 Jelly Bean could be in the mix for the HTC EVO 3D but owners should temper expectations and consider the fact that the phone is now over a year old and Sprint has some new 4G LTE devices to attend to.
Never say never though.
HTC EVO 4G LTE
The HTC EVO 4G LTE is one of Sprint’s newest smartphones and it will be running on its 4G LTE network which launches on July 15th. It runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box which means it is almost assuredly going to get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean at some point.
The only question now is when and HTC for its part isn’t saying.
HTC One S
The HTC One S is an extremely new phone for T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network and unsurprisingly, it runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich as its operating system. This, along with the Samsung Galaxy S III, are T-Mobile’s current flagship smartphones and there is no way that this device will be left out of the Jelly Bean party.
Neither HTC nor T-Mobile is saying anything but we expect that they will deliver the good news later this year.
HTC One X
The HTC One X came out on AT&T around the same time the HTC One S hit T-Mobile. In fact, they are both part of the HTC One Series family. And like the HTC One S, the One X runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
HTC One X, do not worry. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will be yours, we promise.
HTC Rezound
The HTC Rezound Ice Cream Sandwich update has yet to roll out but it appears to be close. Again, HTC hasn’t said anything yet but we’d be very surprised if the HTC Rezound and its impressive hardware were left with an update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
It also helps that this is a phone that is only a little more than a half a year old.
HTC Sensation 4G
The HTC Sensation 4G Android 4.0 update has rolled out, which, like with the HTC Amaze, means that the phone has a decent shot at getting Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Its age is getting up there but it still has some pretty decent hardware.
HTC ThunderBolt
The HTC ThunderBolt came out in March of 2011 and has been running Android 2.3 Gingerbread ever since. However, HTC and Verizon have promised that it will get Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich later on this year.
While that’s great, we don’t expect it to get upgraded beyond that. In fact, we almost feel like Android 4.0 might have been Verizon and HTC throwing owners a bone considering the phone’s issues after launch.
You never know though.
LG G2x
While the LG Optimus 2X has confirmed to be getting Android 4.0, T-Mobile’s G2x is still waiting for a sign of life in the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich department. We assume that it will get it at some point down the road, but an upgrade path to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean doesn’t seem likely given how long owners have been waiting for ICS from T-Mobile.
Motorola Atrix 4G
Motorola has said that Ice Cream Sandwich will be rolling out to the Motorola Atrix 4G in Q3. We don’t expect Motorola and AT&T to roll out Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to the device considering its age but if ICS runs well, maybe they’ll come to a decision to release Jelly Bean to owners.
We just wouldn’t expect it, Atrix owners.
Motorola Atrix 2
Like with the original Motorola Atrix, Motorola will be rolling out the Motorola Atrix 2 Ice Cream Sandwich update in Q3. However, because the Motorola Atrix 2 is newer than the original Atrix, there is a better chance of it seeing the upgrade to Android 4.1.
Motorola has yet to confirm ICS for any device other than the Motorola Xoom tablet, so there is hope at this point.
Motorola Droid 4
The Motorola Droid 4 will get Ice Cream Sandwich in Q3 but there is no telling whether it will get anything beyond that. Remember, the Motorola Droid 3 was launched in 2011 and when it did, it launched with Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
The Motorola 3 will never see Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, an operating system that launched around six months after the Droid 3 arrived on shelves.
We’d hope Motorola and Verizon would get their best QWERTY slider ever up to speed with Android 4.1 but at this point, we can’t say for sure.
Motorola Droid Bionic
The Motorola Droid Bionic will get Ice Cream Sandwich in Q3, a long wait for those who picked up the device all the way back in the fall of 2011. At least the update is coming though.
The Droid Bionic has some solid hardware and a pretty hardcore user base so Motorola and Verizon would be wise to update the phone with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. However, as we’ve seen, the device is sort of the forgotten device and it’s possible that the companies will decide not to upgrade it.
Keep those fingers crossed, Droid Bionic owners.
Motorola Droid RAZR
The Motorola Droid RAZR Ice Cream Sandwich update is close to rolling out. Given the fact that it will get ICS and that there are tons of consumers who bought this phone, the demand for Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will be loud.
This is a device that Motorola and Verizon would be smart to upgrade and we think that they probably will.
Droid RAZR owners will just have to be patient though.
Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX
Like the Droid RAZR’s Ice Cream Sandwich update, the ICS update for the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX is extremely close to rolling out to owners. The Droid RAZR MAXX is also one of, if mot the most popular Android smartphone on the market.
Motorola and Verizon won’t want to disappoint owners and given the fact that this device is fairly new and will soon be running Ice Cream Sandwich, we think Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is a sure thing.
Samsung Galaxy Nexus
The Samsung Galaxy Nexus HSPA+, the unlocked version of the device, will be the first device to receive Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Google has confirmed that the update will be rolling out in July, although it failed to say when exactly.
The Sprint and Verizon versions of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus are definitely going to get the update as well. Neither carrier has confirmed it but it’s a current generation Nexus device.
We just hope that both Sprint and Verizon update it in a timely fashion.
Samsung Galaxy S II – (Galaxy S II, Epic 4G Touch)
Two of the three Samsung Galaxy S II models here in the United States have already been graced with Ice Cream Sandwich. The AT&T and T-Mobile Galaxy S II’s saw ICS roll out recently leaving Sprint as the only Galaxy S II on a major U.S. carrier still running Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
There are millions of people who own these devices and they are still top notch. Samsung has yet to comment on the Galaxy S II’s upgrade path but it’s certainly possible that those two things won’t cut it.
Remember, the carriers will want to entice people to buy the Samsung Galaxy S III and that could mean upgrading it with Android 4.1 and not the Galaxy S II.
Only time will tell.
Samsung Galaxy S III
The Samsung Galaxy S III is Samsung’s latest Android smartphone and it runs Android 4.0 out of the box on all four major U.S. carriers including AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon.
Considering how new this device is, it would be a shock to see it without an upgrade to Android 4.1. Samsung hasn’t confirmed it, but we expect it to be among the first that receive confirmation.
Samsung Nexus S (Nexus S 4G)
Both the Nexus S and Sprint’s Nexus 4G were the proud recipients of Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update. The Nexus S will for sure be getting the Android 4.1 update, both Google and Samsung have said that it’s rolling out in mid-July, but Sprint’s device is currently out in the cold.
We assume that it will, like the regular Nexus S, get Android 4.1.
Samsung Galaxy Note
AT&T’s Samsung Galaxy Note, its 5.3-inch phablet, is still without Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. We know it’s coming but it has been absent for the more than four months that the device has been on shelves.
Still, this is a popular and unique device and AT&T will want to please its customers. It also helps that the Galaxy Note has some powerful hardware. At this point, there is no reason to think that this phone won’t get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Sony Xperia Ion
The Sony Xperia Ion is going to be launching on AT&T with Android 2.3 Gingerbread on board. Sony has said that it will get the boost up to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich at some point but we just don’t know when.
It has hardware and newness on its side, but it’s possible that Sony will just keep it on Android 4.0, especially if it’s a dud.
–
So there we have it. Again, these are mostly predictions with a few confirmations so expect a lot of updating to go down over the next couple of months.
