What are some of the best stable ROMs for me to install?
Looking for improved battery life mainly, but any cool features would be a plus.
Red sonja is the most stable. Period end of story. It has zero issues no force closes. Just vibrate does not work. Also battery life is great
Everyone has there oppinion but red sonja has had no problem ever since it was released.
Go to dev forum check out all the roms ur self it will be good for you to chose rather than we telling you because we don't know what you consider cool future or what you like. In my opinion the best ROM with cool future and theme with almost daily update is Ice cream Rom. Love it.

Well, I've tried a good portion of the Roms that are on the main post right now, and I can sum it up pretty well for you if you'd like.
If you like Touchwiz, QwikWiz is pretty nifty. It offers the Bravia engine which will increase the color quality on your phone a little bit (as well as offering other tweaks, etc)
If you can't wait for ICS, then the Sky Ice Cream Sandwich rom is for you. It's nice, all in all, but honestly I really don't like the feel of it, and I uninstalled it almost immediately. Couldn't really give you much information there.
I tried Cyanogen out for a little bit. Seemed a little bit more stable than the rest of the ones I tried (although, at the same time I was OC'd at 1.8ghz), and I did favor the minimalist design of the UI.
Those are just the ones I care to mention really. There's Bonestocketeer, which is also pretty nice. It's the one I'm running right now because it's what I feel is closest to stock with the most baseline improvements.
Hope my rambling influenced in some way or form.
After successfully rooting my Sensation (thanks to Malybru) I'm looking for a rom that I will not need to tinker with for a while.
There's a ton of roms on the dev subforum, I've been reading through hundreds of pages and I give up.. lol...
The rom I need has to:
- Be stable. No bugs
- Have everything working (ICS on my G2x still has SD issues and camcorder does not work)
- Be fast, light with good battery life
- Be as close to stock ICS as possible. I like some of the custom graphics people are throwing in, but I want a clean look.
Thanks for your time in advance. Please don't flame and tell me to do more reading. If you feel too important to give me a piece of advice, just close the thread and move on.
i would try AHRD
but if u want something simple i would try Virtuous :]

Thanks. I was looking at the ARHD. It says I need firmware 3.32.401.x. How do I know what firmware version I have?
im not sure how to check but im sure there is a way.
but just flash it anyways.
most of the roms need it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
Download the newest firmware from there that suites you and flash it from the bootloader.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098849
Flash Android Revolution HD with the setup you want in 4EXT.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1470497
Download V41 and go through Aroma picking exactly what you want, requires 4EXT recovery.
This is the best option because you get the reliability of ARHD but can customize what you need to get to stock ICS.
Thanks guys. I'm running ARHD now. Seems pretty much perfect so far.

for cam mod try this
the best of all cam mods available
its drastically increases your video quality at the cost of memory (for me 20 sec of video -> 144 MB )
here is the link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1533238
also if your flashing ARHD latest (6.6.2) its available as a choice while installing it
i'm running virtous 4.01 with the non overclocked kernell, and it's fast and stable for me.
Battery life is also good with this rom
I haven't settled between what seem to be the two most popular: ARHD and Virtuous. I switch between them every other day or so. I am leaning towards ARHD for the excellent support though. Virtuous looks cleaner I think since they don't use Sense, but ARHD is constantly updated with bug fixes and has great mods already baked in (6.6.2 just added the HQ Camera mod!).
Can't really go wrong with either one. I haven't given InsertCoin, OpenSensation, or Cyanogen9 a try yet. There are so many ROMs....

as long as you nandroid, there is no reason not to try others if you find a problem or are not satisfied. Just restart into boot loader and restore your backup.
I personally am running insertcoin. It was the first room I tried the day that permanent root was achieved. Sooooo far sooooo good.
Baad puts allot off work into his ROM. He doesn't take requests, but if nearly stock is what you are looking for, this is it. with only tasteful eyecandy and optimized for speed and accessibility really separating it from the near stock experience, I run stable and for sometimes nearly 2 days with minimal use. No wifi.
Peace mate. Ics is awesome hope your pop enjoys.

Forget ARHD. Run LEEDROiD Sensational and don't look back. When you're ready to venture into the dark side, give show-1984p's Bricked Kernel a shot. He's so good people report his posts cuz u know, haterz gon hate.
Oh and Virtuous was pretty cool, socali has made some pretty cool mods that make it epic.

I keep hearing about how when you pick a ROM, you need to decide on either vanilla ICS or the Asus flavor.
What things does the Asus ROMs have that Megatron and AOKP doesn't? Is it just the couple widgets/apps/wallpapers that you can download separately anyway or is there more to it?
Thanks for your input!

The Asus based ROMs (I know of the two big ones, Revolver and Revolution HD) don't offer as many extras as the other ROMs that have e.g. a CM9 base. They may be a bit more stable, and they are not really different from the stock ROM (at least in terms of look and feel). What is unique: they have the original Asus customized settings, so they allow to Mao the mouse buttons, and have the extended notification area (both not present in stock ICS ROMs).
If you want to have the best of both worlds, I'd recommend the Megatron ROM which has a great set of nice options and tweaks (more than the standard Cyanogenmod tweaks), and also let you choose between ICS and Asus virtual buttons, and give you the Asus keyboard and the option to install Polaris Office, supernote, their live wallpaper and widgets...).
I loaded Revolver on mine and at first appearance, it looks basically the same. But as you use it, everything is smoother and faster. I went one step further and loaded a custom kernel by Guevor which made it smoother and faster yet. These 2 together have completely changed how I view & use my TF. Some people have had good results just by loading a custom kernel on the stock rom too. I would do a bit of reading through the forum to see what might work for you. Not every one has had good success when going the custom route, so do some digging and try to get all your questions answered before you start hacking.
You just lose a few ASUS customized settings, but you gain the AOSP settings, I like AOSP better, but some just don't like the feel:
E.G. Sense vs TouchWiz vs AOSP vs ??? vs Profit
Gummy ROM (nightlies) is my favorite AOSP rom so far. It's an AOSP rom with some features from CM9, some from AOKP, some of their own and some Asus stuff. Its the best of all the worlds.
Theres a link to my rom videos in my signature if it helps.
My 2 chosen roms are:
Asus based: Frozn by Jcarrz1 - theres a couple of little bugs and although its not fully completed, combine it with one of the overclock kernels and the speed is on a different level.
I posted up how to set it up in the Frozn thread. Hopefully Jcarrz is still working on Frozn as im sure if it turns out like Krakd then it will be sublime!. If its too much hassle then - Revolver for sure.
Aosp / Aokp: No question it would have to be Gummy nightly. Browsing speed is much faster imo than any of the TF roms, nice tweeks, the devs baked in some themes, stable.....it really is a must try. You also get the delight of the nyam cat but i wont spoil it for you. All i will say is you can switch it off in Gummy settings :victory:
Good for flashaholics with it getting almost nightly updates.
Everyones different and theres a rom for everyone.
Just make sure your backed up and read about how to get out of a pickle. Otherwise just give them all a go and see what you like.:good:
You may need to flash one of the Asus ones to get any updated firmware for the keyboard. I.m not sure the aosp ones will do that.

Gummy has my attention. Does each update require a full wipe or just cache and dalvik? I do not want to have to do full wipes all the time.
I know I will most likely need to try all of these and see what I like most, but I'd prefer to have a good base to start from.
I pretty much only surf the web, get email, stupid stuff like that. Not really much for games outside of Draw Something, Hanging with Friends. Looking for a ROM that is "pretty" or "flashy". Needs to look good, flow quickly and smoothly when I use it, and is customizable so I can make it the way I want.

with nightlies i think just wiping dalvik and cache will be fine
here is another rom to check out AOKPCB
looks really fancy basically is AOKP but themed. Haven't tried it yet though.
Im also in a situation on which rom to just stick with. Right now im using revolver because its based on stock firmware but i'm missing some AOSP. Was running Megatron a while back for a long time but i need a rom that gets updated every now and then.
Kinda feels like Megatron is laggier than the Asus ROMs. Anyone else find this? I did do a full wipe. Also, is there a way to increase the auto brightness value? It is awfully dim.
Otherwise, it is a great mix to get really everything that both variants have to offer. Really only missing the pretty power screen but everything else (and more) is there.
One hour later edit: This ROM is definitely laggy. I press to go into the menu and it's jerky. Really everything is... jerky. Ran a benchmark and had a good score (3200+) but the navigation throughout isn't fluid.

I have a B70 running Steel Droid v2. It's an AOKP based rom and I'm not having any lag issues. It might not necessarily be a hardware thing. Have you tried a custom kernel that you can overclock? I keep it oc'd at 1200MHz because I, personally, haven't seen a noticeable difference when I set it at a higher frequency.

New observation
I tried both Harmony v3 for aosp and Guevor 22.6 and get the same issues. I tried the new aokp Milestone 6 with both guevor 22.6 for aokp and Harmony aosp v3 but still get bad framerates in many games. One new observation from tonight: In the game "Siege Hero", if the option "Stretch to fill screen" is selected, I get bad framerates but great graphics. If I select "Zoom to fill screen", graphics are low res but everything is very fluid. This does not happen on asus based roms.
Another example of what I am getting is the game "Extreme skater" that does not offer compatibility choices, probably because it supports native resolution, but rarely stays fluid on aokp/cm9/aosp but runs great on asus based roms.
It looks like some other users are getting the same problems but we are not a lot complaining.
Any ideas?
I am on a B70KAS... TF101.
As the title says, what's the best rom for the MT4GS? I've been playing around with a lot of roms, but don't seem to really like them. The fact that most roms are all over the place instead of a list also makes it hard to know how many roms there are for the phone.
Anyways, in your opinion, what's the best rom for this phone and why?
Go look in Weekends posts - he's got a huge list of ROMs,sorted by developer, with download links. Also other posts with lots of other useful stuff. As for my preference, I've been running CM9.1 r8 for a couple of months now and it's been fast, reliable with good battery life. Just trying Kornyone's Dec 22 CM10 over the Christmas break. Going well so far!

That is a very subjective thing. What is best for one person may not have features or stability in areas that another person requires. For me, to have everything on the phone work as it is supposed to work, with no weirdness or arcane voodoo incantations necessary to perform a task, requires a stock-based ROM. To date, no ROM other than a stock-based ROM can get everything on the phone to work as it was designed. Some come very close, but there are always little quibbles (the main one being the camera functions). I run Miktouch 0.7, which is based on the last HTC ROM, 1.63.531.2.

Hence the thread title starts with the word "OPINION."
Anyway, I'm definitely a cm10 fan now. Its very stable given the condition this phone was left to us by HTC and its more than I ever hoped for. AOKP JB is also quite solid, but for some reason the notification toggles are just so blah as compared to CM toggles (even in the ICS builds of both ROMs) that I can't get myself to use that rom actively. I thought since AOKP has more tweaks I'd like it but I found that it is unnecessary for me personally.

The new alpha 3 CM10 is definitely the best AOSP rom I've encountered so far for quite some time now. Very few things left that are broken, and I wouldn't consider any of them to be deal breakers. Battery life is very good too, and my God JB is smooth. I didn't think the difference would be so drastic between ICS and JB, but it is. You'll notice it through any transitions and apps opening and closing. It's not as zippy as ICS though. I'd say about 80-90% as fast.
Now that someone figured out the solution to the FC'ing Gallery, I'm now running the Bliss ICS 3.32 ROM from sun_dream. It is a Sense 3.6 ICS ROM that is very smooth, fast, and has excellent battery life as well as killer audio (using Beats and XLoud). From my experience, battery usage is nearly as good as the Miktouch ROM and way better than the CM ROMs. When I was originally using this, the gallery would constantly FC. I just couldn't deal with that. But that has been solved so now giving it another go.
I am not familiar with the 4g slide ROMS. My wife has an unrooted one that I would like to root. it has quirky issues that I would hope to get rid of and most of all gain better battery life. I noticed that there are camera issues. I don't totally understand what the 1080 video issue is but would like a functioning camera and video camera. Basically I am looking to be pointed at the more functional roms out there that will give her better than stock battery life. I have found virtuous being very good in the past and wonder if inquisition is a good bet. Any input would be great. thank you

If battery life is your primary goal, and fully-functional next, then Miktouch 0.7 is what you seek. Alternately, the Bliss 3.32 ICS ROM would work, as well, though it does not do 1080P video recording. 720P works, though. The only ROMs doing 1080P video recording are stock-based like Miktouch. I'm really enjoying this Bliss ROM since it is ICS with Sense 3.6. Very smooth.
MikMik ROMs were always the most stable, in my opinion.
For ICS, Virtuous was nice enough and I heard that Bliss was just a better Virtuous, but JB ROMs, in particular, JellyBAM has been even better than any ICS ROM I've run on this device...

It's possible. I just might not have come across them yet. The only problems I've experienced are the virtual keyboard popping up when I click again in a text box (easily solved with the back buttons) and the FCing when attempting to add funny effects to video in Camera JB+. I've heard a bit about the keyboard CAPS and ALT lights, but those are pointless anyway. Everything else I've done has been smooth as butter. What else is there?
Edit: I guess the 1080 camera could be one too, but I'm over that and coming from months on ICS.

I can't believe I'm saying this since Strapped was saying this very same thing to me, but you never know those particulars until you try it on your own device. The only sure bets are the Not Working pieces mentioned in OP. I love this ROM so much better than the Virtuous ICS ROM, but if you're sticking point is the camera, then of course MikTouch is the ROM of choice.

I'm looking for something stable and quick. Is there a list somewhere of the most popular roms for HTC One S?
I'd also prefer it to be pretty clean without any bloat or junk.
I do like CyanogenMod, but would like to try something different, also with a lot of support around it too. I've been looking at TrickDroid a little bit. Any other suggestions?
I have Liquid Smooth 2.4 on my phone
It runns very smooth and is very stable.
You should try it out

Yep, I'd recommend liquid as well, it runs amazingly well on my phone!
I'm using LS too, running the latest Twisted kernel. It's really a pinnacle of smoothness and stability. I believe I have experienced slightly better battery on other roms/kernels though.
For looks, minimalism and simplicity, I'd recommend Dark Jelly. Even comes with a nice aroma installer with lots of customizability.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try out LiquidSmooth.
Is there an official Dark Jelly rom too?
By the way, LiquidSmooth is pretty awesome. I have the screen set to "Stretch" in Trebuchet settings but it doesnt seem to fully "stretch"... is there a fix for this?
