Don't make the mistake I did, I assumed all recovery.img's were the same...they are not. Be sure to download the Darchstar_RA.img listed on the first page of the Darchdroid 2.7 post. There is a difference in the paths of some of the folders and that difference causes the dalvik wipe to go stupid and tells you to use adb to wipe. Using the correct Recovery will cure your ills.

Recovery 1.5.2 still does actually wipe Dalvik, even though it gives that error. It's just a text output error from the console.
Mods, shouldn't this be moved to Q&A forum?

download a custom ROM (I'd suggest a sense 3 one look at index thread on development for your options) to your sd card
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik cache
flash the custom ROM
Or if you have a backup simply restore that

First boot will take a few minutes....so don't panic....be patient
HTC Flyer: Rooted with S-off, with Revolutionary CMW 4.0.1.4
At the first attempt, I flashed the SU.zip and got the tablet working. But then i decided to flash the Leedroid rom.
Within revolutionary, i wipe the data/cache/davche and then flash the new leedroid rom. There are no issues on flashing the rom and it was successful, however when i reboot.... it is stuck on the HTC logo screen. After 20-30 minutes, the tablet just shuts itself off.
Due to this, i decided the wipe again and install a different rom (CoolHoney3D) however same issue. Then i decided to go back to original SU.zip and that is not working now as it has the same issue.
I downloaded the recovery image for the HTC flyer and try to install it with Scottsrom. No LUCK
I believe i am missing a step in the whole process. please let me know what the problem is. I read all the tutorial to do the recovery but i am a noob and couldnt figure it out. sorry for my bad english..
Thanks!

I did 3 types of wipe (System/Cache/Dache Cache) then installed the roms again. It said the Rom installed correctly but still got stuck at the HTC screen. Like i said, i installed the original su.zip again and that doesnt work anymore
Another question, do I have to install su.zip first before installing the leedroid rom?

I will try that. Should I.....
1. Flash the SU.zip rom first
2. Flash the CoolHoney3D rom

4. Reboot

Skip the "su.zip". So just flash the "CoolHoney3D" rom, wipe the dalvik cache, then reboot. You could format all partition before flashing the rom if you haven't already done so. In other words:
- Format partitions
- Flash the rom
- Wipe the dalvik cache
- Reboot

Wipe data from cwm
I remember using VR Superwipe on my last phone. I would flash it just before I flashed a new Rom. Would it have any use for us on our SGS3?
I'm sure Scott will port some that he made for the rezound. Just give him time.

You realize a factory reset in CWM wipes the data and cache right? After that you just proceed to install the rom, why do you need a zip?

Exactly why I posted what I did....
so use recovery to wipe with 4 actions
or use zip and wipe with 1 action
every other device has wipe.zips why not the S3
and not the be a **** this was a request thread not a tell me why its a stupid idea thread or hey you can wipe using recovery blah blah
why its so hard for some of you to keep stuff on topic, will never know

Using the "date wipe/factory reset" option wipes everything in /data (this includes dalvik cache) and /cache. Then when you flash a Rom it will format /boot and /system.
I'm just trying to understand why there needs to be a zip for it or what benefits that would possibly have? I can use recovery and wipe data/factory reset with 2 finger touches on my phone, and then use a few more (depending on where you store your rom zips) to install the rom of my choice that will format /boot and /system. Even if you use a zip to wipe, you'll still have to install a rom, and it sounds like the zip method would require more actions.
I'm not trying to be a ****, just trying to understand because i've never used a zip to do my wiping. It was never taken off topic by me.

What are you wiping? Just cache? just dalvik cache? Make sure you have a spare rom on your pc and then wipe everything. Cache,Dalvik cache, sytem, factory reset, and sdcard. Guaranteed all your stuff will be gone. Including your rom. Youll have to mount your sdcard afterwards and copy a rom to the sd and flash it afterwards.

I'm at a loss sorry. If you didn't check the md5, that would be a good start, just to ensure it was a good download. Also, hopefully it was twrp 2.3.3.1 or earlier as higher versions have wiping issues.

What is the best way to wipe it? Fastboot?
What can't I delete, if I have to do it manually?
And how do I mount storage from recovery, can you give me a detailed process? I've never had a problem like this.

The tab that says mount... And it won't make a difference if u delete one thing at a time or format it. If you can't find mount in recovery stop screwing with the phone. You haven't read enough. I don't mind helping but.... Do try and help yourself before asking. These phones can be tricky, spend a few hours getting a grasp then I'll bet you could handle it on your own

I could not post in the roms dev thread, so i will post it here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2326223
^ this is the original dev thread.
I have a problem, could somebody with this rom's gapps post me a link, and alternative link, cos whenever i try to download it from that site, it gets stuck at 99%, and never completes.
my other question is, what do i have to do for a clean install?
i mean, im running CM9 on my Explorer with ICS, i have link2sd, with an ext partition, but what do i have to do with it to install the new rom? do i have to delete that partition?
can someone please describe the full procedure? Thanks in advance,
cheers from greece, vivalaflam
For clean install reboot in recovery, format data/factory reset, wipe dalvik cache and format system and boot..
Download stuck at 99. I think you are using IDM. That has a problem like that. Update it if not.
