Help choosing ROM? - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hello,
I have been away from this sort of thing for a long time. I have been looking through the forums, but there is so much information, I can't find what I am looking for.
I have an AT&T Fuze that I am just not happy with the stock OS, and I am hoping to find a good replacement. I like the newest Windows Mobile 6.5, so I hope to find something in that.
I use my phone for calls, Internet, Gmail, Google calendar and Tom Tom. I don't need much else. I have had problems with Opera, so I am prefer to stick with IE, unless there is a Google chrome for mobile? I am open to suggestions. I like to be able to organize my start screen and such as well.
Thanks for any help!

Best RAPHAEL roms, in my opinion.
EnergyROM is VERY GOOD for users of all types! I would recomend this rom to anybody who wants speed, stability, and confidence that there will always be somebody there to cook your rom. NRGZ28, the chef is by far the best chef i know. I say you should try the CHT version! Don't tell anybody, but even i use EnergyROM on some of my phones

If you like living on edge, you can try my rom series, MonaROM!
I constantly update it, and try to smash bugs as they come along. MonaROM is becoming pretty stable, although there are a few bugs here and there. You should totally check out my thread. I will cook in whatever you want or request!

And, if the above roms don't suit you, then maybe you'll like TAEL rom.

Cool, thanks for the tip!

New Schap's ROMs coming soon! - Suggestions are welcome

Hello!
I'm back after few months to anounce that I'm working again on new ROMs for Hermes and Kaiser, now that Windows Mobile 6.1 is officially released I hope to give you something new during this month.
Concerning my plans, I will certainly release localized WM6.1 ROMs, I don’t know yet if I will continue to release WM6.0 ROMs, it’s up to you! I will also finally support big storage for Hermes ROMs, and I would like to develop some new apps for our devices.
I’m open to suggestions, if you have any idea to develop, some apps/drivers to update, if you want to recommand a stable ROM base or if you have any request.
Please post here for suggestions/comments:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2084749
I would like to thank you again for your support, especially those of you who donated in the past, thanks to you I’ve got a TyTN and a TyTN II which will make my work much easier to create new ROMs and develop on those devices!
cool. cant wait. always loved your roms on the herme's. 6.1 is the preference for me to be honest.
Great to see you back.
I would love to see opera mini as my default brower. I think i remember a post saying it had to be removed due to legal issues so maybe a cab?
If you looking for an idea for a small app how about if you click on a link from outlook and a small box appears with the option to open in either PIE or opera mini?
Glad to see your back...Was worried you had given up on us. This might just be me but on your config tool the fast sleep options dont work on the few 6.1 roms ive tried. not realy a big deal just a reg edit but im sure youd like to know. one last thing. i know theres millions of different home screens but id like to see what you can come up with. the stuff youve done here is awesome. thanks
Excellente nouvelle Schaps !
Cette attente est insoutenable... Vivement la prochaine version !
Yay welcome back ! Can't wait for your roms.
PS : i don't have any suggestion, just happy. ^^
welcome back chef schaps!
would be nice to see your next kaiser rom to include htc Manila gui
just a suggestion
anyways glad youre back!

I’m open to suggestions, QUOTE]
Welcome back Schaps. I have always been a big fan of your ROMS. My humble suggestion is to make a ROM with minimum stylus use. I would like to see most of the funtions accomplished with the use of finger and not the stylus. I dont know how realistic this wish is? But there is no harm in wishful thinking
Anyways I am happy and waiting

hmmmmm if only it could have the sedna ati drivers in and working.... welcom back, I would love to try your stuf on my new Vario III.... as I used to on the Vario II.
ot that I am not happy with Dutties... but just for something new
I believe a Rom saturated with system tools and a few apps is the way to go. Putting in HTC Home will make most happy. "Check for Skype and Igo." There seems to be a a split on what form of MMS/SMS that people prefer. I believe if you left MMS and SMS "as is" and offered .cab(s) for threaded sms or acrsoft in your first post, this would probably make nearly all happy in the messaging field. I think this would be a BIG...a really big offer to all. A poll on this would be interesting.
Personally, I am one of those Palm threaded sms guys. I use shogunmark's threaded sms. Excellent app I must say, however, you may be the person to fix the only problem with it. With the keyboard slid out you can not see the text window when typing.
Many posters seem to be looking for a cube version also. Lite, Home, and Cube versions would keep the requests to a minimum too. However, if you made a Tilt ready ready versions also, that would be huge! Personally, I know plenty of guys with the "know-how" potential but absolutely NO TIME. A very well laid out initial post with all flavors and versions would be huge.
In summary, Lite, Home, and Cube with the TILT READY version offered too. Cabs handy for which flavor of messaging, and the included radio should make nearly everyone happy. Hey, this is just one mans opinion.

merci pour ton retour parmi nous tes Rom sont géniales et j'espère que tu en feras en français.
bonne chance pour la suite. @++++
Hello Schaps,
good to see you back especially with a Kaiser in your hand
Everything, will be fine, i am sure.
A nice point would be if iGO would work (afaik, only with 19716 build)
Cheers,
g-fall
Good news !
can you make a fast light rom for kaiser in 6.1 ?
thanks a lot !
good to see you back shap's! i was getting a little worried about you no request, as i believe the chef should do what they want and think is best. as long as its fast and stable, im in!!
Yes... you are back!!!!
Anyway to have Divx codec encorporated in with media player???
Ultralite 6.1 ROM that works with Skype, please!
Same as Schap's 3.41 for Hermes. I use it for a long time. It was very fast and versy stable.
Schap
Im glad you back guy, its been a long time.
I can't wait to try out your new roms again.
By far I trust your roms more then most on this site.
also your roms dont have as much video glitches, unlike some roms on this site.
Keep up the good work and hope to see new roms soon.
An UltraClean ROM Please!
An UltraClean ROM with just the most basic apps please (Phone, SMS, etc.). Then I can customize my own with cabs.
I usually use Alex's, but he's having some problems with receiving calls from WM6.1 so they're not very up-to-date.
Thanks for taking suggestions!
Glad to hear your back mate! Place aint been the same without you!!
As for suggestions i'll have a think for you mate!
What about the new GUI you were working on? Has that been abandoned now or could that be released? Looked awesome!

After Reading your message, I think I like you very much, can you do me favor and provide me with winning Lottery numbers for coming Saturday and please make sure I win at least 10million EU and above. thanks
furthermore dont take my message to personal, it is getting to bored here in Universal forum. cheers mate
i would have asked the same as Prawns -- I am afraid Uni is for Hobbyists only
Since the Uni never had an HTC-build of WM6, ALL ROMs are cooked from versions for other devices.
There are NO definitive drivers that are guaranteed to work 100% correctly 100% of the time, because HTC never released them.
So - if you want total stability, and total reliability, go find a totally vanilla WM5 ROM - that'll give you that (but none of the 'extras').
If the only thing you really want from WM6.1 is the Office 2007-compatible Office Mobile stuff, then either build a WM5 ROM with that in-place, or look around - I'm pretty sure some of the WM5 cooked ROMs have that in them.
If you want all the latest & greatest, bells & whistles, then you've got to put up with the facts that:
a) There may be problems - these are being cooked by a single developer working pretty much in the dark, NOT by a development team.
b) The ROM likely won't have exactly the feature-set you want to see -- if you want that, either approach a cooker directly with an offer to pay him/her for it, or build it yourself (which is what I'm doing). Yes - it's a painful, time-consuming process, but at least you'll learn something - I sure am!
Just my opinion.....

So many Roms...but only one Kaiser!!

Guys,
I've always had HTC phones, since the original XDA - back in those days there were perhaps only 3/4 cooked roms available and so the choice was fairly simple.
I'm looking to flash my Kaiser with a rom that's speedy, feature packed and has something particularly snazzy about it!! I've had a look at Roms available...and there's about 40!!!!!
What I'm looking for is an unbiased view from someone that has tried a number of roms and can recommend a rom that's a significant improvement over the standard Vodafone WM6.1 rom!
Please, who'll be my saviour!!!
Cheers, Ash
I am in the same boat with you!
I am currently using and liking HyperDragon III Jade OS 5.2.19974 Build 19974.1.2.8 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=397121)
I was stuck on PDACorner's series for awhile, as well as NATF, but it seems that the newer releases from them are unstable on my phone, in my location.
There is always something that will shine in this ROM and will not exist in that ROM. (Unless you cook up one for yourself - I haven't ventured there yet)
Well I'm gonna go flash today's ROM Your saviour I am not, just adding my $0.02.
ok....here's my non-biased opinion...
but but before that i'd like to tell u that this thread might be closed by the end of my post here...since a mod will tell u that every person has his/her own taste in regards to what rom is best...
now my opinion....
u have to know that we are living in the kaiser manilla craze right now....if u dont know manilla is a new today screen interface which is pretty much eye candy only in my opinion....
if you want a good wm6.1 rom (without manilla)...u can try the new garmin DK6 rom....but since that rom is still new and might have sum bugs...i suggest u search for garmin DK3 series which comes in 1-naked 2-light 3-full versions...just to get a feel of what his roms are about...
garmin's roms are one of (if not) the best wm6.1 roms for kaiser and are 99.5% bug free...
thats my 2 cents
note: im sure u know this already but please dont forget to either CID unlock or flash hard-spl before flashing these roms!!!

Thanks guys for your feedback so far - this thread definitely shouldn't be closed, a forum is for discussion about personal views, thats what we're doing!
I'll have a check of the Garmin roms then, sounds interesting - let me know how you guys get on flashing (LOL) - anyone else?
Garmins new DK6 is out and is very fast u must try it, his roms are simply great as are many chefs but his seam to be the smoothest
Hey there,
originally i was running T-mobiles wm6.0.
From there i have moved straight to:
[3 November 08] HyperDragon Jade OS 5.2.19974 Build 19974.1.2.8
which, in my oppinion, is a lot smoother and adds a lot more usability to the phone (E.g, i never had voice command on 6.0, Manilla didnt work as it should, skipping to a certain letter in your contacts list is now easier due to an iphone-esque side menu etc.)
Ok, so manilla is eye candy, may negate some of the tweaks and updates done for speed increase, but at the end of the day, over a standard ROM, its still faster.
The only issue(s) i can say i have had is that the touch screen seems a lot less responsive, and the speed gains were only really noticable when i used Kaisertweak and changed all the caches to as large as they would go, but it is still a very good and stable build IMO. Oh, and manilla doesnt support landscape view (although all other normal elements such as texting, contacts etc do)
I'm probably going to update within the next few days, there is a manilla update in the latest one (oooo) but that can wait a little bit i guess.
just my £0.02
i get kind of nervous with cooked roms... had a few bad experiences where i'd be hard=resetting and rebuilding 2 or 3 times in a day.
i put in the latest WM6.1 ROM posted here... had a few issues that needed to be resolved, but otherwise am very happy with it.

Requested ROM

Has anyone seems Kavanna's WM 6.1 version for the T-Mo Dash?? It's awesome. I'd love it if someone was able to come up with something similar on the Wing...
here's the link with pics
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=374890
That is WM6.1 STANDARD no Professional!
ok...so what's the big deal with that? It doesnt matter to me what's on it. I LOVE the layout of the home screen...if someone wanted to cook a rom that looked similar that would be awesome...
EDIT: I've searched thru the ROM's on this site and didnt find anything i liked. i dont like any of the opentouch stsuff or the touch-it stuff...i think maybe ill just go back to the dash/excalibur. I think i liked that phone better than the Wing/Herald

The software is incompatible with our phones because it's for a different TYPE of OS altogether. That's why he mentioned it. Not that professional means better. Professional means that it has the touchscreen version of Windows Mobile which is very different from the "standard" version of Windows Mobile. It's like telling a person to that you don't care that it's an XBOX360, it runs an NT kernel, so you want to be able to run a windows XP app on it. You can't just run the app, it has to be modified at the code level to work. That software was created by microsoft, so we do not have the source code to modify it.
Therefore, that's a standard phone, this is a professional. Everyone has their preference.
On a side note: If you're talking about TouchIT, you must be looking at some old ROMs... itje hasn't posted anything in a long time. Are you looking at Manila2D ROMs?
I was on the Herald Rom Development forum and went thru the Rom's Reveiwed by Pureskilzzz...It's got a lot of ROMs on it, but all of them are either all black themes, which i dont want, or the open touch iphone style stuff that I i dont really like either. I really want to get threaded messaging back, i used to have a treo 750, and the Dash I had upgraded to the Kavanna WM 6.1 and the threades SMS on there was amazing...
I'm not saying that i prefer the standard over the professioanl version. Im saying that like the way Kavanna did the home screen. With the sliding glass panes and the way it's set up. If that could be implemented into a Wing ROM would be awesome. if not, then ill stick with the WM 6.0 version i currently have my wing.

WHY should we impelment a TOdayscreen that is ONLY be used by joystick...when we (WM Professional) have a touchscreen!
Go to abtterystatus theme thread and see if someone copied the desinge with the touchscreen functionality...but i don´t know...
ANd threadded SMS can be added via .cab i think...or just install WM6.1 on your Wing!!!!
When tat is all you want...you really don´t know what device you have...cause you are running a wing with WM6 or WM5....
IF you ever have tested any of our roms you would see that a WIng is 1000times better thatn a Device without touchscreen.
good greif all i asked was a simple question and things get blown outta porportion. Ive read this forum for 6 months before i signed up knewing that this sort of thing would happen. Now it has...last time i will ask a question on this site ever...
Ive had MANY, MANY, MANY smartpones and used cooked rooms on all of them. I know that the Dash is not a touch screen phone and that the moving crystal look is for it's jogger bar...I'm just saying plain and simple...I LIKE THE LOOK of the sliding glass. im sure that the animation could be done weather is touch screen or not...
but with that said I do believe i finally found a ROM that I will enjoy
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=399300
Im not into the entire fancy looking iphone ease of use stuff. I just like simple nice looking software. That's all i was trying to say...sorry for any confusion.
Ok!
Hey, its ok guys! I can see where papa is comming from. He spends alot of time making ROMs at the cost of his free time and effort and you kind of came across as a little demanding and abrasive. Alot of people started from the dash and ended up getting a wing/herald and are proud of the progress that has been made to further development on this phone, myself included! There are tons more options available as far as ROMs and UI for the Wing than the Dash, I know because I have both and just flashed my Dash again lastnight after waiting for about 4 months for a new ROM to come out! As far as my Wing, well I cant even keep up with the leaps and bounds in development on that! There has been alot of tention around here about people just poping up a demanding things without having bothered to try to look aroud and find it for themselves or bother to learn to do it themselves! So dont take it personaly if you get flamed or someone doesn't see things the way you do! Just decide to learn from it. You cant go wrong learning something new! Who knows, you could be the next new ROM chef for the Wing/Herald! That would ROCK!
we NEVER flamed someone...but the thread title "ROM request" ...this is not a "i wish for christmas present show" it is hard work...and there are thousand of threads relating the debatte about standard looking and professional WM6.1....
and it allways ended the same answer...: there is no rom looking like that..because it is not sensefull!!!!!
that´s all!
Sorry!

Most of those ROMs are older. Threaded messaging is built into all of the WM6.1 ROMs. Search for a Manila2D ROM for a "sliding" pane setup. The reason for pointing out the professional and standard was just to point out that it's incompatible and part of the WM6.1 of standard phones, not something that was created by that cook. I'm sorry if it sounded like I was flaming.

Total NEWB here. Which one is best?

I have a AT&T Fuze, with the Fuzeberry overlay. I enjoy using the TouchFLO 3D, since the WM6.1 really isn't finger friendly at all.
I saw the article on Endgadget explaining how to flash my device to 6.5, but then I read a load of reviews saying it really wasn't all that good. I then found out about Spb Mobile Shell, but then read negative reviews about that.
Main thing I'm looking for is this: What would a Newb like myself need to do to really optimize my device? New radio roms? Upgrade to 6.5? Leave it at 6.1 but upgrade the TouchFLO (can I do that?)?
I'm not really into a lot of the code tweaking like it seems most people here are. I just want a rock-stable, fast phone that can do what I need it to. Thanks in advance!

Cool, I would suggest you look at the RRE roms...nice fast stable...the 6.1 roms are going to be your most steady, and there are some good 6.5 roms...read through the threads to find out what fits best for you...as far as the radios are concerned....there is a new radio out...but here again, make sure you read through the radio thread to see what works best for you...there are lots of tutorials you can use, so have fun!
Read, read, read, read some more. When you think you have it figured out keep reading.
you will never stop learning here
but go ahead and go to 6.5 much more finger friendly, really not as buggy as some say
most roms have the new touch flo
im on sheps 6.5 with touch flo from rhodium
just remember to hardspl
