I'm wondering if it's possible to make a native app (as in an apk) that lets me use Sprint Family Locator as a native app. Anyone?
What's wrong with free Google latitude? I love it.

Ah okay, sorry, I have no clue then, Mr. Super Spy
Good luck with your search though, let us know what you figure out.
I used to use Loopt..it's worked rather well on my sprint phones

dont download!!!
why?
Cant just say don't....
Sounds like SPAM to me
Noooooo.
I just need more people to talk to!
From what I read its location based social networking app. Talk to others using the same app and find people around you. Right?
Right.
And yes, I am just that lame to come here to post to get new friends on there. There aren't enough people who know about the app.
Sort of like Waze. I LOVE Waze, but there aren't enough users yet to make it work as well as it could.

It's okay.

I am a Verizon user, and from what I hear, only sprint users are privy to the new Blackboard Mobile app on the market... I didn't even know that Google differentiated between providers as to what they are allowed to download until today... Anyhow, if someone could upload the Blackboard Mobile apk, I would greatly appreciate it. I know other Verizon users are also looking for this and I'll gladly share it with them also.
If you don't know what Blackboard Mobile is, it's an online classroom environment used by universities so students can see assignments, download notes, and upload homework - The app is free to download, but is, for whatever the reason, restricted to Sprint users only.
Thanks for your help!

Let me know if it works for you or if you need anything else.
I found my school on it... they haven't enabled the mobile part of BB... ghetto.

Thanks for the upload! But the program itself is still restricted to sprint phones... The apk installs, and the app opens, but when I chose my school, it says that I am not on a Sprint Device and refuses to load anything... How restarted.
Thanks for your help though! Maybe some genius programmer on the Verizon side knows how to fool an app into believing I'm on a sprint network..

You could possibly trick it by shutting off your cellular connection and use wifi... not sure though.
Good luck, bummer it didn't work out.
I didnt even know this existed either, hoping my school enabled mobile also.
just like the iphone version.. still doesnt work with my school either.. whats the deal JUST ACCEPT THE FREAKING APP UNIVERSITIES
should i go ask tomorrow? hahha
wow, nice find! My school hasn't enabled it either though. What can you do with it?
Just a thought. Try loading a Sprint PRL. That may do the trick.
Awesome thanks! My school uses blackboard and I never thought to look for an app for it.
This is great. Downloading now
Edit: It crashes all the time on me. Not stable for my Evo
Why would anyone want this? It has a 2-star rating on the Market. It looks like total trash.
I read about this coming months ago and then forgot. Thanks for reminding me!

If you go to school, or your organization uses blackboard its actually quite handy my friend.. only reason the review is so low is because its sprint exclusive. So people try to use it, can't, and rate it bad. What do you want in a blackboard app, naked women and free drinks?
It wasnt working on the evo, emailed dev and they fixed it within a day. it works now and it works great, id give it 4 or 5 stars definitely worth it.
Alot of school's havent activated this, I asked my school about it, and they said they haven't added it because they haven't got the site where they want it, feature wise, before they add it. Even though I doubt what they do will have any effect on this.
And yeah, the bad ratings are because of all the people ranting about it only being for sprint.
Hi, I would be very please if I get a load of replies to this saying
"Here it is you moron, why cant you search"
But believe me I have and I cant find an answer to my situation.
Here it is.
I have a very long speech to learn (I have to say it off by heart) and I have recorded it on my phone but all the apps I have found gives poor sound quality.
I do, however, have the speech in .doc and .pdf format and I was wondering if there is any way I can get an app that would read those files to me. I am not to bothered about a natural voice or anything, I just want to be able to play it back to myself so I can learn the speech.
Many thanks
Do you want to do this from your phone?
Sorry for my dumb question. ;-) It just wasn't apparent to me...
If so, try talkback by google. Unless you already have...

I will try talkback and let you know
No thats not what i wanted.
I want an app that reads .doc or .pdf files to me...
Thanks anyway
So do I, but don't think it can be done. Have tried most of the office/document apps and even the paid versions wont link to tts. I personally would love it as an update on documents to go, will even email the devs but wont hold my breath. If you find anything post it.

It must be able to be done because it can be done on PC.
The only way I have managed it is to move the document to my PC and and then use a programme called
Natural Reader
to turn it into mp3 file.
Its a free download, free to use, but to save as MP3 you need to buy it.
Its very good and has different voices....
Just need to get it on android app

I dont have any text documents to test it on but it seems that gb has this feature built in. Go to settings/accessibility you should see something in there that will help u. I think u have to download/install a couple files, it'll prompt u though. I just got my phone setup to type what i speak in texts and to read them to me. Good luck

there is a diary/journal app with tts, you could copy/paste your text. I had the app, but I dont remember the name.
EDIT: it's called RETROACTIVE the one you pay has tts
And now you can get an iPhone 4S and get Ms. Siri. to read it out loud to you

The files you need to download are not available on the market but are available here
http://code.google.com/p/eyes-free/...roid.marvin.talkback-v2.7.3_signed_market.apk
however, all this does is speak what the phone is doing, so you gets lots of information on which app is loading and what android system is doing....and it doesnt read text from the screen.
Thanks anyway

Haha, my sis just got an ipad 2 today, gotta admit its amazingly speedy.
Steve did a great job in his UI and overall working with the screen, when he was alive
But anyway, I'm no longer a apple hater- I just dislike their way of suing people... [/OFFTOPIC]

More OT...
I know, without apple we wouldnt have smart phones, Steve Jobs has my thanks for that, but I still would never buy one. It grated me to buy an iPod for my daughter..but she "just needed" one, even though her phone could hold just as many songs and was easier to configure and manage...
For pdf files you can use ezpdf reader , it has the tts function and you can choose the language you want.
The files needed are available on the market and it does read whats on the screen. I had gotten it setup on my phone before I replied so im not just randomly spewing hypotheticals. I even wowed my son when he texted me and my phone read his text to me. But oh well, good luck.

If u say ur GF that u wanna have s*x tonight in front of everyone
hey bro its not the best option but i use it all the time to make my phone curse at people LOL.
You can copy and paste the speech into Google Translate, and then choose english to english (or w/e language it is), and hit the play button, it will read out the text to you.
Hope this helps
ok so as all of us sprint customers know a few years ago we lost our most favorite app the NFL LIVE app it didnt really matter because some awesome people figured out how to let us still have it after verizon stole it from us ...so i am calling for some new awesome people to come forward and please get it back for us for the upcoming season if at all possible ..i mean there are other options such as firstrowsports.eu ..but the app was just better quality ...maybe someone could even make an app for the site so it works better? i am just hoping ... i mean its not like your not gonna be around a tv most of the time but for those days you cant be around a tv that app was so clutch ..
Really

This would be considered Warez. Even though the app itself if free you have to have a Verizon paid subscription to use it.

Useful bit: Why don't you just tell me the game you want to see (think Seinfeld). Slingbox is the way to go man
Hey guys,
So I just wanted to ask if anyone knew a good FREE screen recorder for my android smarthphone...
Hey
Screencast is a great one. Although it is paid there is a free version. I will never condone pirating but you could get a copy of the paid apk online and try it out. Please then support the developers. It is really easy to use.
There is also zrecorder which is a good free one. I do not have experience with that app though.
Why not just try the free one before you decide whether or not to pay for it.it's a good app, works lovely and isn't that expensive

Because the free one is the limited version. It does not enable the full experience. Users/buyers may be put off by this. So instead try the full version, is what I was saying. This 'try the full one as a demo' mentality was the feature that basically sold the onlive platform a while back.
Well put baddaman54
Yes screencast is a great app

I know this thread is kind of old, but I figured I'd post because I'm still using an old phone.
The LG Connect running on Gingerbread.
I use this to upload gameplay footage to YouTube, and so far it seems to be working great.
