I read somewhere that face will 'accidentally' hit the black bar on the very top while in call, that's why that "Notifications" screen will show up. The screen list missed calls, number of new messages and reminders.
Install advance config 3.3 and turn on the light sensor. This automatically turns off the screen in a call. If it isn't this, then i don't know what it would be.

Thanks. I'll give it a shot. My screen do turn off when it's close to my ear though...
I have a similar problem...
You could try switching to a Leo phone dialer/canvas; i used one that disabled the notification bar during call...
Or you could also try using Touch InCall Screen Tweak. Install the cab, and in the settings screen go to the options tab and check "Show phone at screen on"
So, if you end up pressing the notification bar when putting the phone to your face, this option makes the dialer show up again, and you don't have to close the stupid notification bar. Works for me.

I have been seeing this for a long time whenever I have BT on, which is always. And it's pretty annoying: I have to press left "softkey" then dismiss, before being able to get to contacts.

You must have a Bluetooth Notifier cab installed. I had one installed so it would add the BT icon to the taskbar, but then it also added that notification.
Not sure if there's a way to disable the notification, I just ended up uninstalling it.

This is also a side effect of the Tachi Dialer. Another reason I'm using the Warhawk Dialer.
(though I'm sure that's not the issue in this case, someone else might be wondering about it, as I once was)
try this Bluetooth Warning Notification Option cab It was posted by NRG in a thread for his rom. It adds the Bluetooth Warning Notification in Sounds & Notifications.
it is a bit annoying, that i have to have a couple of presses to get to my contacts with the notification thing on. and i don't recall installing anything on my phone that has to do with BT
Don't know if it is a problem or what but when receiving a new text, the screen does not light up but rather just vibrates, make noise, and have the buttons lit up.
Is this a problem or is it a setting I can adjust so the screen lights up as well?
The AOSP mms app doesn't turn on the screen when messages are received (on this ROM). But you can probably try using something like SMS pop up to have the screen turn on and quick reply if you want. I haven't tried that myself, though.
Anyway to change that?

SMS popup is definitely the way to go. allows you to use your preferred messaging app but gives you awesome functionality with the popup notifications. and quick reply is the best.

if you use the samsung mms.apk provided on the serendipity website, the screen will light up upon receiving a text message.

Ahh thank you! Finally what I was exactly looking for!
I have a first world problem: When I'm on a call and want to access the notification bar, my screen turns off--I think because the light sensor is effected by my hand.
Use case: I'm on a call, realize I want to switch to Bluetooth, and want to go to the notification bar to access settings or click on the bluetooth tile, but the screen goes dark. So, I have to put the phone down, and carefully access the bar making sure my hand doesn't get in the way. Is there a way to get around this?
UPDATE: I just got an answer from someone else off this board: While on a call, press the "home" button/icon that takes you to your launcher and then access the Notification bar--the screen will then stay on without a problem.

I just posted a fix to my original post, above.
Alternately... You could install a launcher with gesture setting as to double tap in the home screen to toggle/expand notification bar.. So you don't have to get your fingers near the top at all... Cheers

I have never used Light Manager before, but the idea of different colored lights for different types of notifications sounds useful. I have tried to get it to work for the past 3 days, but I can't find a combination of options that will work.
Is anyone using it successfully who might let me know what their configuration is?
I appreciate your time.
Did you remember to turn on the LED in your phone settings? You go to Settings>Notifications>Tap the gear in the upper right. Make sure you turn that switch on.
When you first open light manager it will prompt you to allow notification access which can be found under your phone's settings>apps>little gear at the top right>special access>notification access. Make sure light manager is checked. (It asks you to set that up right when you first open light manager)
After that just it should start working. Go into light manager and start setting up your colors and stuff. You can test each notification you set up (just have to make sure to turn off your screen while the test is going on)

I just re-installed it and got the notification message, now it's working fine. I don't know how I missed it the first time through. Thanks!
I just gave this a go but ambient display kept coming on every few seconds for no reason.

This is a bug the developer is aware of. It only applies to "Alternating Mode". I switched back to normal and it stopped.

Oh ok awesome. I didn't try that mode but will give it another try with that mode enabled.
I also had some issues with LF. My gmail functioned as it should, but I could not use sms or other apps. The developer told me how he got things to function properly. I have had no issues sense. Here is what you need to do. Just change out the app you want for notifications.
I'd recommend the following.
1. remove the contact specific notification you have set up and the standard text message notification.
2. get a text message from the contact you want specific notifications for and don't yet read it.
3. go into lightflow, notification settings and press "+" and select from all installed apps and select messenger.
4. Press "+" again and select from an outstanding notification and select the unread text message and select it and click add.
5. Find this notification and click on it (then press the pencil icon in the title to give it a meaningful name)
6. Enable the "notification person matches..." switch
7. Finally in notification settings click on the 3 lines with an arrow button at the top and drag the contact specific notification above the default messenger notification.
This is the setup I use on my 5x and 6p and pixel. It also allows you to do similar for pretty much any app or for example switch when a particular word is in a notification so it's quite customisable.
Cheers
Andrew

This isn't about lightflow. This is about light manager.
lol sorry!!!
I am using Google Phone and Contacts app (Samsung apps are terrible to use, although they look better).
When receiving a phone call, on top of the full screen page I see a notification popup: how can I disable it?
If I go into app's notification settings, all is enabled but greyed out, so cannot change.
Thx
Anyone here?

click on right arrow and disable notification
As said, not possible, all greyed out and default to on
You could try with Auto Notification and Tasker
Do you have Google dialer installed? Can you show me how your notification settings look like (enabled or greyed out)?
They are greyed out on Samsung dialer too
I know why... Google is forcing some properties to fixed so that users cannot change notifications. Problem is that they should fix this behaviour which I believe is a bug.
Strange cos my Xiaomi phone does not have this problem: same app version, same settings greyed out.

Can you pls try to also set phone app as default for calls and ask some one to call you, to see if you get the notification? Keep screen off when waiting the incoming call, and try several times.
Thanks

I'm getting the notification. Always did
Strange... It shouldn't be there
Maybe it's because of "floating notifications" in settings. Check it.
By the way I get a similar notification while in another call/Viber call/Skype call even with Samsung dialer.
Google dialer is fugly.
NO, floating notification is to enable the floating popup when minimizing the dialer.
It seems as if when receiving the call with screen off, Google dialer detects the screen is already on, this displaying the full screen + the popup. As a matter of fact sometimes the popup does not show, but when it does (most of the times) it's annoying as hides that caller's nam

I have also had this issue for a while now, and could never figure out how to fix it either. I finally decided to try turning off the "Appear on top" permission setting in the app info section of the phone app. That seems to have done the trick, as now I only get the top pop up when I get an incoming call, then when I answer it goes to the full screen portion like normal. Maybe give that a try and see if it works for you.
