I'm looking forward to the gingerbread release mostly for the battery drain fix. If they can make this phone last 2-4 days without bleeding dry just sitting idle then I'd die a happy man...
Do u know if the next update has the lg camera app like froyo?

Can you take a pic of the "about phone" screen next time?

Don't get a smartphone if u want it last 2-4 days. That's asking the impossible. Or get a lame iphone 4. Id have to say its a beast in the battery department.

My old mytouch used to last 2.5 days... 24 hours should not be to much to ask. Currently it seems impossible for this g2x to go 12 hours.

My Nexus One with no sim card inserted lasted almost 5 days before finally quitting. Im sure if someone was able to tweak the polling timeouts and data consumption on idle we could get 2 days out of a phone easily (with no use)
You have to remember some people dont use their phones like us. This is also why I think iPhones are viewed as having amazing battery life. Android users love to play with their phones, the screen really never shuts off.
What's the point in having a phone with no sim card lasting 5 days? I can get the same use out of a brick. Not trying to dis but really, what's the point?

no it doesn't like i said i already played with it and everything change to gingerbread
guys i dont think they'll make a phone with the batter last 2-3 days.. for reasons when your phone is working on the time even when its asleep... like web, facebook, email and more
i had a nokia back when their were popular and the battery lasted 2-3 days because it wasnt such a thing like wifi. facebook or other stuff that make your phone run all the time.... you can have an extra battery if you dont want to be without a phone when that battery drains...
you know what i didnt though about it... but he suppost to have that phone to test this week and when he bring it over ill take a picture with it.... and like i say the last time he got the phone to test the battery lasted 4 hours max and thats why their taking their time to resolve that problem
Im actually on day 3 but Im only running 500 Mhz and its under volted I just did this to see how long it would last with light use

Ive been using a vzw iphone 4 for the last couple days, and ill say, its battery is much better than the first g2x i had. I absolutely hammer that battery..with around 5-6 hours screen on time..and it holds up well.
I've read along time ago before the first iphone came out that the battery would be integrated into the whole device and that it would fit into unused "nooks and crannies" to give it that extra lasting power. The only downside, I believe is that you can't manually change out the iphone battery. So that's why the iphone has a greating operating time.
Although I'm glad LG and other Android manufacturers didn't limit us Android device owners with a non changeable battery, I believe that they can tweak the operating system to not "bleed" the battery when just on standby and just being idle without the user not actively using the phone.
Even with Wifi, data, bluetooth, GPS, screen display etc. disabled, after a few hours on non use it's not surprising to find the battery has drained sometimes up to 10% within 2 hours. This is unacceptable, and doesn't have to be this way.
Fix it google by disabling the "spyware" you implemented into the android OS.

Little ticked with this g2x battery, but you got a point with the iphone. Someone laughed at my battery, saying their iphone was so much better and all that meanwhile he hardly used the phone. Then I also have a co-worker that barely gets 5-6 hours without recharging as well.
This turned into ANOTHER battery thread.

Come on guys, I cleaned this thread. Why the rudeness??. The OP is just stating something he wanted to share with this community and you start posting about his grammar and other nonsense stuff.
Please, just focus in the discussion or just read the post (with no comments, if you are not going to contribute).
Thanks,
I know battery life is one of the big issues Gingerbread's supposed to fix. The SGS2 came out on 2.3.3. and the battery life has pretty much been abysmal. Samsung's releasing a 2.3.4. update next week. This explains why...
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Almo...uffering-from-power-consumption-issue_id19060
On the bright side, the battery *****ing on the Sensation forum hasn't been too bad and they're on 2.3.3. So maybe the OEM's can do some driver tweaking to get past the problem. It might just be something to keep in your back pocket should the LG update be on 2.3.3.
Hi,
My Droid Charge randomly slows down, regardless of what ROM I'm running. It can have no applications open and it'll slow to a crawl, to the point where when I tap on a contact to call, it'll take anywhere from 15 to 60 seconds before the phone actually dials.
As mentioned, I've tried several different ROMs, and I can't figure it out. I have approximately 110 apps, but obviously the phone manages them on its own. I have 15 gb SD card that has approx 12 gigs free.
Any clue what the cause of this is or how I can diagnose it?
Have you tried v6 supercharger? Mine was doing the same thing until I used it. It frees up the ram and my phone doesn't slow down anymore.

I ran into a similar problem as I am an app crazy guy. I will try just about any app. And one day my phone started to act like yours. I do not remember which app it was, but I want to say it was an old version of skype.
Anyways, I suggest you flash whatever ROM you like clean. And then see if you run into trouble. If not then load one app at a time until you duplicate the issue. 110 is a lot which is similar to the amount I have. Most of mine just sit in backup until I need them. I now only run a few at a time.
Hope you figure it out as that can be frustrating.

Everyone deserves to get the most out of their phone!
This happens to me with every ROM as well.
I've had the most luck with Imoseyon's v4 kernel, using AutoKiller Memory Optimizer set to 40/50/60, and setting dalvik VM memory to 80m.
With the above setup I've been able to go a couple days before slow-down issues start happening, whereas before it would generally happen every few hours.
This is going to make me go back to GB. Custom ROMs and stock ICS, when I receive a call, it will display the number, but no name for a second to 10 seconds.
Why does it take ICS so long to query the contacts to match. Is there a fix for this?
There is a super annoying friend of mine that has several numbers and so help me if I accidentally pick up his call again, Im throwing this phone.
Ive stood behind my Nexus S and android, still want to love it, but ICS is just crap for now.
i noticed that too in SGN

x2, I thought it was just my phone...
I get the same thing on my phone. Never got the delay using Gingerbread.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk 2
I'm having this delays too!
But they usually don't exceed 2 seconds, nothing like the 10 seconds waiting time up there...
More often then not, its within a couple seconds for me, but a few times a week, it will just not display. And thanks to this issue, I had to talk to this person for over an hour.
I would love to know why this delay exists and if there is a fix. It happens on other phones too, not just the nexus s.

I always let the call go straight to voice mail if I don't recognize it. That's funny to read though.

yeah it really is a PIA
Same here, thought last ISC update might have fixed it a bit but delays still happen. In fact my nexus S is much slower with ICS. With Gingerbread I never experienced any lags of any sort.
Same here.... Pretty annoying ****

I hope people don't just pass this off as another annoying ics question. But with the ram issues this phone has, can we use a swap partition like in Linux and the old CM5/6 days on the G1. Sorry if this was already asked, the search function on this app doesn't allow to search individual forums.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
what ram issues do you have? I have 200 available most of the time, with about 10 apps running most of the time... I've read up on the using swap partition for the phone and it's not useful, in my opinion just unnecessary. Are you completely out running on zero ram available?
See what apps run in background. Google voice eats ram if you don't force close it often, Facebook will eat it if you enable background notifications.
Some keyboard apps also eat ram... check and take a picture for us.
no matter what rom i use it works great for a day or so then suddenly it just slows down. i do power cycle the phone at least once a day. and have tried the ram manager on the play store, and just killing things manually. the ram wouldnt hit zero at all, but it would get low for like 10-15 seconds at a time. my biggest concern is that i cant answer a phone call right away, it always lags for about 10-15 even up to 30 seconds before i slide the ring to answer. and when i look at the ram afterwords its below 100. i rolled back to GB about a week and a half ago because of this. (i bounce back and forth)
Don't have the issue myself on any ICS rom, the answer issue isn't anything new its old news most roms have fixed it. We would still need more info to help you though.

Sorry for the long wait for a response. I'm getting ready for a new job and I switched my phone back to GB for that reason a while ago. When I get back today ill reinstall an ICS rom, what one would you guys suggest I use? And btw I only have about 15 songs on my phone, 250 pictures, and I delete my txt msgs every 2 weeks.

So this has been a question for long and some people reboot their phones out of habit to keep things running smooth and some don't believe in it.
In this thread, just mention the current running OS and how often do you restart it. Also, feel free to add opinions to the topic if it's something everyone should do or just not bother.
I set it to auto reboot every week. But normally if things seem funky usually 4 days.
I've always turned my phones off every night at around 11:00...if it rang that late I wouldn't answer it anyway, so it might as well be off.
Started recently. Goes into auto sleep at 2 am and wakes up at 6 am
