I need some way to stop the music screen from rotating to landscape view because I use the phone along with an AUX cable to my car. It makes it difficult to drive and change songs when it rotates to landscape view. Is there anyway to turn off the accelerometer or stop the rotation? I've tried gyrator and changescreen, but those don't work. (or if someone has found a way to make those apps work, please give me instructions!) thanks.

You'll have to edit your phone registry to disable the full screen rotation. Go to HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila and look for EnableFullScreen. Change the "1" to a "0" and soft reset.
thank you nsauceda35! it worked perfectly. much appreciated

Strange...I can only flip up and down.
Hope someone can tell me what to do..
It will work in sideways if you turn off the auto rotate in TF3D settings.
And what if i want this without turning off the auto rotation?
yea...It would be nice to scroll sideways in album without turning off autorotate.
I want to have autorotate but not when i scroll in album..
Any idea?
Is it possible to do something with this in registry??
If so,where?
Both gyrator and changescreen works great in albums, you can flip sideways and up-down if the autorotation is off..
BUT then everything else is rotating also..
I just want to flip sideways and up-down in the album, and not have all menus to rotate...
tip???
maybe we have to change something at the album shortcut, because there is a addition with "type:camerashot".
hello i have tom tom installed but it shows up vertical is there a way i can change the view of the program to be horizontal i turn the phone but the screen still doesn't move anyone have that issue with the gps thanks
Yes. Install BsB Tweaks then use its function to make TT go to landscape when you turn the phone. Works fine for me.

Apart from people requesting it over and over again, satnav is one of the main reasons that I wrote PLToggle. You can get it in my signature. It's for people that want to rotate the screen just every now and then, and don't want it to rotate by accident when they hit a bump or go round a corner lol.
Hi everyone I got a question here and this might be solved but I searched for a while with no answer
I really like to hold the g tab in bed and do some reading before going to sleep but you know how the auto rotation works and it keeps getting me the wrong orientation when lie in bed holding it at side. If I turn off the auto rotation, it only gives landscape. I understand this won't be a prob for a phone since it's portrait by default. But here for the tablet it's landscape Is there a widget or application can do the trick to lock the screen to portrait?
I am using VEGAn-Tab Beta3 and LaunderPro.
Thanks for everyone's hard working here and I love this place so much!
Look under Settings->display, there should be a setting to ignore the accelerometer. It says auto rotate, I believe.
He's looking for a solution that will make the default orientation Portrait, not landscape. Turning off auto-rotate locks the device to landscape orientation only.

I missed that and strange that they don't have an option to allow one of four orientations to be selected
Bump.
The contacts app appears to be landscape, no matter what.
Am I missing a setting for portrait phone & contact apps?

Hi,
It would be better to modify the orientation to portrait and then check the box above for "System Persistent". It will gray out the orientation but lock it to any orientation you selected. ADW will no longer auto-rotate, but most apps will still auto-rotate to landscape.
I’m sure it will solve the problem.
that too, good call

anyone got anyother solutions or info?
well problem solved with the help of go launcher. thanks dj steve for the quick reply and to the peeps who have given suggestions.
since some apps on the chacha have wrong rotation for some reason (e.g. peak.ar unfortunately switches the rotation modes) i wonder if it is possible to create a program that just fakes the rotation portrait/landscape for some programs.
the is.

What exactly does this do? This didn't have to seem any effect on anything.
All my programs that had wrong orientation did the same like usual.

Run it and select the type of orientation you want your programs to run in. Landscape is for the ChaCha display.

Nope, doesn't work. Landscape detection of programs is wrong as usual.
For example: Peak.ar is wrong and pictures taken with Pro Paint Camera are also rotated 90° wrong.
Whatever this program does it must be for something else.
Worked for me on previous versions of CM9, where the dialer would show up in portrait mode, so it might be something else that's hindering peak.ar. You could email the rotation locker dev asking him about this.
Ok this makes most programs opening in Landscape mode - however they still will "think" that they are in the wrong mode.
What really helps here is only something that fakes the values of the rotation sensor the other way round.
