I just flashed a new lockscreen (the vanilla tabbed one) however I have been on my loading screen for around 30 minutes now, is there any way to fix this or should I just restore my nandroid backup (which is a bit old)?

restore then go in and delete the HtcLockScreen.apk and reflash the vanilla lockscreen. makesure your using the old one for the older roms and the new one for the official 2.1 roms. they are different files but the same effect

what ROM are you running. sometimes (rarely) custom lockscreens wont work on certain roms.

Hi, i was wondering if this was possible? Im new to the nexus one, and havent flashed on android for a long while, so im not really interested in flashing a rom yet, but im super tired of the white bar at the top. is there a way to change that without flashing?
I had wondered this before, the short version is that the stock rom is odex'ed, meaning you can change the bar to black, but the text will also be black.
ROMs are still the name of the game though, I use MCR 2.0, it's very close to stock (except rooted, himem/undervolted kernel, and a few other goodies). I'd never go back honestly.

not sure where you got that info from, but if you are on a stock ROM, you cant change the bar or much else for that matter without a home replacement app.
no root access=no abilities to root files.
to the OP if you are using the stock rom and have root access, yes you can do what you want to do, either with metamorph or by flashing an update.zip
in either case make sure you find the one you want, nandroid, and do what you gotta do. if you dont like it, revert to nandroid. there are a few black bar themes and other things of the like here.

I think he is saying that he has an unlocked bootloader and root access on a stock rom, and doesn't feel like flashing a custom rom yet, so no, he cannot get white text in the status bar for the clock and date on a more recent stock rom without first de-odex-ing /system/framework.
Hello Everyone,
I have in the last 3 or 4 days joined in the rooted party of phones. With the Stock 2.2 rooted ROM on my Incredible i have tried a number of Circle Battery mods without success.
Thanks to the people that did a walk through on nandroid backups and restores i have not completely broke my phone.
With the above being known i apologize to anyone that reads this and says to them self "IDIOT!!" but i have a few questions I'm hoping i can get some answers on from other people with Incredibles.
1. If I install a different ROM like Cyanogen or Uncommon Sense to get the Circle Battery mod working will i be able to get back to my stock 2.2 rooted ROM using the restore like i did before?
1a. Is doing the ROM update done just like installing a mod "recovery-->install from .zip-->choose .zip"?
2. Is the Stock 2.2 rooted ROM worth staying with?
2a. If not and Verizon comes out with 3.0 or whatever the next number is can i go back to the stock ROM?
3. Does anyone have any known working Circle Battery mods for the Incredible running stock 2.2 rooted? ((I'm looking for something like "Ultimate Online Theme Kitchen") (SCB with %, Version Z, Custom type, colors--> A.))
Thanks for anyone replying.
I'm no expert, but I believe the reason the battery mod doesn't work with your stock ROM is because in order for those types of customizations to work, your ROM must be de-odexed. This is pretty standard in most custom ROMs but is not the case with stock.
As for your questions:

Yes, but when you do the restore everything will go back to the way it was before you flashed the new ROM. You won't be able to restore and keep the battery icon. When you create a nandroid backup, it's essentially a complete snapshot inside and out of everything on your phone.

Yes. Be sure to wipe data/cache when flashing a new ROM though, otherwise you will run into problems. Always have a nandroid backup before flashing anything new just in case!

It depends on what you are looking for. Many ROMs include additional features, performance tweaks and customization options not available with stock. I'd suggest trying a few out to see what fits your tastes. If you're looking for something similar to stock with all the junk removed and ability to add things like custom battery modifications, I would give Virtuous a try.

For the most part, I would just stay rooted, as you'll most likely be able to get an official 3.0 ROM leak before Verizon gets an OTA out anyway. However, there are ways to revert to stock and unroot your device if you really want to. A little searching of these forums can provide you with a guide on how to do this.[/QUOTE]

Wow... thanks for the information XideXL i think i will try a few other ROMs like your suggest and just keep my nandroid backup on hand should anything go bad.
I flashed LeeDroid 3.2.1, with DesireHD > Inpire4G patch (before rebooting), & Sense 3.0 all-in-one pack. I had a problem with multiple duplicate widgets showing up and every time I went back to home screen from anything it made me choose to use HTC Sense 3.0 or Launcher to go back to home screen with an option to set one of those to default. It did this both times I flashed this ROM so I gave up and flashed ARHD. Anybody have this happen with LeeDroid??

Your supposed to flash the all in one after a full rom boot.
I did it both ways. The first time was after a full reboot, so I tried it before rebooting the second time. Maybe I'll just try completely reflashing it again when I have some time....
Thanks for your reply
Same thing happened here and ultimately I just deleted launcher 2 since I never use it anyway.
[CLOSED][ROM]Bone Stock & Stock Deodex ROM's Triumph-Now Resets Splash.img!![CLOSED]
Thread closed because I no longer own this device. The download links no longer work. Sorry for any inconvenience.
i just installed and wifi works but when trying to go online rebuts the phone, also the screen goes black and stays like that for like 2 minutes. And yes i did all the restores available.
Which ROM did you flash? Deodexed or Complete Stock?
deoxed one.
Hmm that's odd cause the woofing works fine on mine! Ill look into it!

Same here it works... weird, this is the fix for me that got the wifi functioning again. But then again, I flashed b_randon14's stock theme zip, not this one.
If you want deodex I would recommend that one, more confirm it working at least right now.
Stupid question perhaps, but will apktool properly decompile and recompile framework-res.apk? I ran into a doozy of a problem trying to do that with somebody else's ROM.
Yeah it decompiles just fine! I have done it a thousand times!
Edited op with the zips that will reset the splash.img back to factory as well!!!
Thanks and I'm going to have to try this one out now.
Is the Android logo text hidden deeper in the system than I originally thought? I've actually seen it on my new phone a couple of times now, after reverting different things. You know, the flashing "android" text...
When there is no boot animation, it reverts to the flashing android logo. Its in the framework Res under assets/images. The boot logo(red Motorola logo) is on the same partition as the recovery image as a splash.img. to flash it I have the recovery mount that vfat partition as sd-ext and copy over the the splash.img its the same way I flash recoveries from cwm.
The bootanimations( red Motorola animated logo then cm splash animation) is locates in /hidden/data/power-on animation.

So I installed the deodexed version and I was able to use mobile wifi tether with barnicale without having to change the MTU for the Motorola Triumph!
Once you change the MTU once on a computer, you never have to change it again... you sure it's not just a residual effect?

I'm quite well aware of that. I did it on my laptop, but not my desktop. but my desktop was able to connect online with the tether. i guess i should try it on another machine to make sure.
Is there any advantage with the deodexed version over the odexed version if your goal is to restore the phone to stock after having another ROM installed?
Selling my Motorola Triumph to a friend - I've been running CM7 since the alpha days, so I need to go back to stock. I still have a nandroid of the stock ROM, but that also has a lot of installed apps, not to mention personal information/passwords. Will the complete stock ROM allow her to activate the phone?

It should.
I know this thread is about a year old, but thanks for the stock files.
I had CM7 running on my daughters Triumph. I finally decided to just put both of my kids on my VZW family plan since the Gnex dropped to $50 each and Virgin Mobile's service is a complete waste of money.
I'm selling her Triumph now and the phone has to be stock in order for the new owner to activate it, so this came in handy.
Thank you very much!
Works perfectly. My girlfriend didn't want a buggy ROM ruining her Candy Crush games so I had to bring her back to stock. Took less than ten minutes! Tanks!
I have TWRP installed on my One X and fully backed up my current settings through the Backup function in TWRP as well as Titanium backup, just to be safe.
I want to install MIUI so I've downloaded the zip. Is the best method to wipe the phone and then install the zip, or is it to restore to factory settings and then install the zip?
Also, if I want to go back to my current rom (HTC Sense - that came with the phone) how would I restore the TWRP backup that was created? Also how solid is the TWRP backup? Will I have problems restoring from that with random things like market associations or settings?
Thanks for all the help everyone.
TWRP backups back up EVERYTING (I mean kernel, system, app apks) except for sdcard data. Restoring a backup will look exactly like the moment you backed up the ROM.
In order to flash a new ROM, do this:
1. Back up your apps using some application (Titanium Backup, Ultimate Backup, etc)
2. Create a new TWRP backup
3. Factory Reset
4. Install the ZIP
5. Boot into your ROM and download whatever app you downloaded in step 1
6. Restore your apps from step 1
Enjoy

Don't flash anything that isn't actually in our dev forum unless you want a buggy POS (best case), a massive bootloop (slightly worse case), a beautiful paperweight (pretty bad), or your phone exploding (yeah that's probably the worst).
I made that last one up, but who knows.
As for Sense-less roms, look for AOKP or CM9. CleamROM DE/Dev Edition is pretty much Sense-less, but it retains some backend Sense things to ensure everything still works properly. It's as close to AOSP as you're gonna get without actually being AOSP.

Well there's another lesson in there. Don't flash unless you have sufficient battery (I never do it under 50%....best to do it when fully charged though)
So you're not getting the led indicator to light up when you plug it in? What rom did you flash?
