About GodMode Script:
Typing "godmode" into adb shell or a terminal emulator will give access to and allow you to edit many parts of the system using any file manager.
For example, if you wish to delete system apps you can simply run "godmode", open Astro File Manager, long press the app, and delete it (don't forget to back it up first!). Also, if you wish to edit (using Astro) the build.prop, sysctl.conf, or install-recovery.sh files "godmode" will allow you to do so. In short, "godmode" can turn Astro File Manager into Root Explorer.
Installation Instructions (V0.4):
1. Place ROM On Root Of SDCard
2. Boot Into Recovery Mode
3. Wipe Data & Cache (Highly Recommended!)
4. Install .zip from SDCard
5. Wait For ROM To Install

7. Press Next For Each Option In Setup Wizard (ONLY Select Next!)
8. Choose A Default Launcher
9. Open Gmail & Sign In

Note To Users:
The only minor imperfections you will find in this ROM are an occasional fc of com.htc.bgp (will stop after initial setup is complete) and the next button in the setup wizard (that you only see once after you wipe data & cache and install the rom) has an 8 over it. As mentioned, both of these quirks will only be seen for a short amount of time. I will be working on resolving them soon.
Note To Devs:
The only HTC Sense apps I was unable to eliminate (without bugs) are the HTC LockScreen (the vanilla lockscreen causes issues), HTC SetupWizard (needed for mounting sdcard), and the HTC People apps (needed for contacts to sync). If you know of any method or would like to help me eliminate these please let me know. I am new to HTC devices and would love to know what additional apps can be removed without harm also.

I'll be flashing Bugless in a few. Not because I need anything from it, but because I want to see how Rom Manager handles things. I bet a lot of people will be doing that too.
Looking forward to seeing what you can do!

Hey Pete, I'm super excited to see you on the Evo scene. I'm definitely going to be flashing this but I had a couple questions.
- Does this include the updated radio? (assuming not)
- Is this still having the Market issues?
- Any other known issues we should watch for?

Would you all rather have the sprint apps in a seperate zip to flash or have a removal tool to get rid of them easily? Hmm..maybe I'll throw something in the ROM Manager.

A popular option I've seen in other roms is just moving them all out of /system/app and into /data/app so we can uninstall them at our discretion.
Edit: Except the friendstream app cuz it can have sync issues if moved out of /system/app

Hey, thanks!
-Does not include the updated radio but I will add it in the ROM Manager for users to flash easily.
-Not sure about the market issues because my friend just got the phone and he has no paid apps. I will be looking into it now, it's an easy fix.
-Not that I know of but please let me know

I'm on Verizon so I have no clue about Sprint Apps lol.
As far as flashing it can be found in "ROM Manager" in the market (easiest option) or put it on your sdcard and install via clockworkmod recovery that way.

How does this ROM manager work, I know the basis of what it does, but im new to the phone hacking game. I just want to know all the ins and out before I apply a ROM to my phone, I don't want to mess anything up, and want to know how to fix it if something happens.
Thanks in advanced.

ROM Manager makes it as easy as 1,2,3. Simply choose a ROM and it automatically downloads and prompts you to install.

this roots and whatnot for me? So this is as simple as droid mod or wahtever i used to use on the Droid. In fact I should change over to BB on the Droid, DM is ancient. Is there any issue with going from DM to Rom Manager/Clockwork Mod or do i need to go back to stock first?

No you must have root (Toast) to install Rom Manager first.

Re: [ROM] Bugless Beast V0.2
I would really like to try this out sometime..I hope you are able to get rid of the sprint bloat soon. It makes a difference on my phone from what I have noticed

ok cool, done that already. I click reboot into recovery after the download and it just sits there. No reboot, no nothing. Is it telling me I need to do it or that it's attempting to itself?

I wouldn't mind having the apps in there, but with the option to uninstall the ones I do not want to use. Any chance for apps2sd?

I would like to see the option to easily uninstall them so the individual user can decide what they would like to keep and remove.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't USB debugging have to be enabled for SU permissions to work correctly?
If so, Pete maybe you should set this as selected by default to avoid headaches.

[ROM] 08/30/10 | Fresh Hero 2.4.0 | Incremental Update For Freshness

Geek For Me is proud to release:
Fresh Hero 2.4.0 for your Sprint Hero
NOTE: Remember that Fresh Hero is considered a stable every day rom, and Fresh Toast is a dev rom that may have issues. Also (in case there is confusion) Fresh Hero is for the Hero and Fresh Evo for the Evo. But I think that's self explanatory.
Also FYI: the phone may freeze on very first boot at the lockscreen, or it may get to the lockscreen and then reboot one more time. This should only happen on the very first boot after flashing the rom (if it happens at all).
If you are coming from Fresh Hero 2.3.3 then no wipe is required. You can grab the incremental update (10 mb) to go from 2.3.3 or the full update. The full update is required if you are coming from any other rom. If you are coming from another rom then a full wipe may be required. Always make a nandroid backup, I can't be held responsible if something breaks, etc, etc.

Added Fresh Updater! Check the How To for information on setting it up and using it. This project has been on the back burner for months, and I’m happy to finally have brought it back and finished it up. Thanks to cyanogen and firefart as it’s based on CMUpdater. Use Fresh Updater to enable the vanilla lock screen.
270 degree auto-rotation (you can turn the phone to the right or the left for landscape) — Thanks to Optedoblivion for pointing me in the right direction.

HTC_IME Mod High Res v.27 keyboard -- This keyboard has a ton of features. I have included this keyboard and the stock one. To change which keyboard you use just do a long press on a text input field.
All APK's have been png optimized and zipalign'd
png optimize goes through every APK and losslessly compresses the png (picture) files without causing any type of visual change. This provides a smaller apk file size that loads faster. Each APK has then been zipalign'd. From Android's developer page: zipalign is an archive alignment tool that provides important optimization to Android application (.apk) files. The purpose is to ensure that all uncompressed data starts with a particular alignment relative to the start of the file. Specifically, it causes all uncompressed data within the .apk, such as images or raw files, to be aligned on 4-byte boundaries. This allows all portions to be accessed directly with mmap() even if they contain binary data with alignment restrictions. The benefit is a reduction in the amount of RAM consumed when running the application.
While this does free up space on /system it is not done to make free space. It is done purely for a performance gain. Every day use of the phone will go smoother and stock applications will respond faster. The reason this works is because it has reduced the application file size as much as 50%, so they load in to memory faster and run smoother.
Additionally all applications in /data/ (even ones you downloaded) will be zipalign'd on boot if they need to be.
Not every apk takes png optimization + zip align well. I've done it on enough roms that I think I know which ones cause issues now, but if you are getting FC's on any apps (I can't test them all) then let me know and I'll get it resolved. Thanks!
Entire rom has been resigned.
Major thanks to jschisurf for help on this. The process changed from Android 1.5/2.0.1 and I was getting errors where I had previously never had problems. He helped me figure out what I was doing wrong.
Resigning all the apks allows for non-standard apps to be used (like FriendStream) and also provides a standard based for modding apks.
Apps2sd updated to Darktremor 2.7.5p2 by tkirton.
Apps2sd takes all applications from /data/app and /data/app-private and moves them to a partition on your sdcard. This allows you to store more apps on your phone and also allows you to restore your phone and keep all your apps in tact (albeit with all settings lost). Although sometimes wiping sd:ext is required too.
You do not have to use apps2sd if you don't want to use it. If you just don't format your sdcard with an ext partition (leave it all as fat32 like it is from the factory) then apps2sd will stay turned off.
How to setup apps2sd on Fresh and warnings about apps2sd
Battery optimizations
Raised VM kernel dirty page writeback frequency to 15 seconds. This wakes the phone up less often for background VM activity. Every single application in Android is technically running in a VM (virtual machine) so that's why this helps (as recommended by lesswatts.org).
Updated Google Maps to 4.3.0
Updated Launcher Pro to 0.6.5.1
Updated Estrongs (ES) File Explorer to 1.4.2.2
Wifi Tether 1.6 -- This is not the newest version but in my experience it works best on the Hero. If you are getting a FC in wifi tether then it's because you have another copy of it in /data/ with a different name. Therefore you ended up with two copies. Remove one of them and reboot.
Facebook moved to /data/ so that it can be uninstalled
Dancing droid boot screen thanks to wrx4memp!
Added PowerTOP 1.11. From LessWatts.org: Programs can make your [phone] use more power. PowerTOP is a Linux tool that helps you find those programs that are misbehaving while your [phone] is idle. — Compiled by cyanogen.
To run PowerTOP just open an adb shell and type: "powertop -d". It will scan for 15 seconds and then print out a report.
The first section will show you what % of time your phone spent running at what Mhz. Ignore the Mhz in the screenshot above because it's from my Evo so it will look a little different on the Hero.
The next section shows wakeups-from-idle per second. 50-80 would be normal. If you are in that range then you don't have a problem.
The next list is the top causes for wakeups. Compare your list to mine (I only showed the top 3).
All the way at the bottom it will have optimizations that can be made to lower power use. These changes can not be made to the rom itself, they must be made to the kernel. While other roms claim they made changes to the kernel, if they are using the stock kernel (if they aren't over-clockable then they are using the stock kernel) then they didn't. While there is a kernel source available to us, I have chosen to continue using the stock kernel until our official source is released by HTC for stability reasons.
I have chosen to NOT include adless browsing in my rom. I used adless browsing in all of my Hero Android 1.5 roms because it actually blocked ads from the browser. In Android 2.1 this functionality stopped working so I stopped including it. It was pointed out to me that while it doesn't block them in the browser, it does block them in apps (background data). The reason I am choosing to not include this is because as a developer myself, I feel that the authors deserve to get paid for what they do if you want to use their app. If you are choosing to use their free ad-driven application then I don't want to contribute to people blocking those ads and preventing the dev from getting paid.
Stock vanilla lock screen has been customized in the following ways:
Fixed to work properly by flipz
Emergency button showing up after airplane mode fix by flipz
Menu-menu to unlock disabled by flipz
Clock / Sprint / other misc stuff removed thanks to jschisurf!
Added live wallpapers back to Rosie. . Keep in mind that you are using lwp "at your own risk." They may use more battery, they may cause wake issues. And only the lower end ones will work properly. This is not the fix that breaks opengl to allow you to use the more visual ones. Stick with the ones that just draw on the screen (a few are included).
flash_image for flashing RA
Quickboot works... for those who use it!
Espresso bottom bar in green
Full color sliders (see screen shots)
Removed (copied to /sdcard/fresh-removed-apks):
The following applications have been removed, however I am trying something new. I have the installer copy all of these applications to /sdcard/fresh-removed-apks. This will allow you to easily install the applications by clicking on them in ES File Explorer, or by copying them to /system/app for the ones that won't install that way (HTC's apps don't play nicely with installing). The applications marked with a * can be installed in one click by clicking on it in ES, the ones marked with # aren't included because they don't need to be reinstalled. The rest you will have to copy them to /system/app. This can be done by issuing the following commands:
adb remount
adb shell
cp /sdcard/fresh-removed-apks/WHATEVERAPP.apk /system/app

What to expect / how to flash it / READ THIS :
Download and copy the zip to the root of your sdcard
Reboot to RA and do a data wipe / factory reset (REQUIRED)
You may also need to wipe sd:ext if you are having troubles booting.
If you are running Fresh Toast and ext4 then you'll need to partition back to ext3 if you want to use apps2sd
Pick flash zip from sdcard and select fresh-hero*.zip
After it finishes flashing reboot. Expect the first boot up to take a while.
If it boot loops over and over (you keep hearing the startup sound) then you didn't wipe everything.
When the phone boots and comes to the user setup screen I would recommend syncing your google account right away. I noticed an old bug creep back in where it gets stuck during sync. This seems to be avoided by adding your google account during setup.
The more social networking stuff you have setup (Facebook, twitter, friendstream, etc) the less battery life you will get. These programs do not have a "push" function and work by checking every single one of your contacts to see if they have an update.

Awesome. Flipz, you're my favorite! What are some of the bugs that you want to work out?
Are you or should I say can you(not sure what kernel this uses) move this over to Fresh Toast or will that project not be effected by the leak?
I guess what I am really getting at is if this is going to delay Fresh Toast further or if it is looking good.
friendstream in this?
Since this isn't OCd I'm gonna jit it and see what happens. I flashed damage's flashable ROM earlier and didn't care for it. I'm too use to the OC speed and quickness that it felt like it was in slow-motion.
THIS BOOTSCREEN!
flipz you're the man, for real
Only thing that worries me about modding this Flipz, is /app and /framework are .odexed.
Ok, been using this for an hour-ish now. Just found an issue. When viewing photos, if I rotate the phone, no app (photo viewer, gallery, etc) will rotate. Checking and auto rotate is turned on.
Can anyone confirm?
Edit: Crap. I'm seeing 100% wake time too.

Also (and this is the cause of the wake time issue) we're back to the GSM issue in *#*#4636#*#*
If you manually change it to CDMA auto PRL the wake time issue goes away.
can anybody confirm apps2sd works moving dalvik too on first boot? i tried and couldn't get it on a rom i was building?
damn more awake time issues and i heard a few say sound issues too. do you guys really think this is the final? any thoughts flipz?
good work btw and fast.
and just to let you guys know i had no issues applying several of my themes to this leak today.

BATTERY SAVING HELP
some good guidelines to a long battery life.
1. Wifi when enabled, is not disabled when phones goes standby, go into Wifi menu, and press menu -> advanced, and change wifi power saving behaviour to as example after 15mins, this increases battery saving alot.
2. If you dont use 3G at all, disable 3G in the Mobile data setting it to GSM ONLY network, this will also increase battery life.
3. If you start DLNA feature of this ROM, and dont use it anymore, enter "administer programs" -> running services and stop the DLNA service, HTC made some stupid scanning feature which takes up alot of CPU and phone starts lagging alot too.
Using this guideline you gain almost 5 days of pure standby time without loss of battery charge, which i can confirm here.

- adding a picture to a contact, causes FC when added. Solution: use the kill launcher shortcut when you're adding pictures to contacts, to free up memory.

you cannot reset to defaults.. no factory reset with this image..
you need to restore the image, to start from scratch if you wish to start over again...
Ooh IC,...
Its not what I means that Wipe Data/Factory Reset before flashing..

ok, not really a problem, just that htc has 800x480 we got 854x480.. im working on it.. as the graphics are now native size, their way of handling it is different so fixing is different.
but thanks for reporting and testing.
im hoping to have a fix ready with this later today.
New update v0.1 being uploaded..
Features full USB support, graphics fix and GPS is working now..
so the bluetooth remains to be solved (required hard programming work to fix)

Confirmed: wifi isn't working. My network is detected, it tries to connect, but it can't get a (dinamic) IP address.
Dexter's works is absolutely amazing, but my opinion is that these HTC ports are unusable on Milestone due to the memory issue. The home screen reloading is very annoying to use on a day-to-day basis.
Thanks.
Regards.
Will we EVER see a Froyo port for Omnia i8000? I mean, CMON...HD2 gets everything...give us something too
the update is useful. I will use it daily. thanks dexter..

i think now your problems are related to the encryption protocol? and not IP related? because it really runs stable here even with almost 2 days rebooting and playing, network has not been a problem.
but you are partly correct, i should sell my milestone and get a samsung galaxy S and port it that model.. it has the screen and 512MB ram, so probably much better, and screen is a match to htc too.
and yes, not a htc and probably closer to htc ace than desire would be.

[ROM]N.S.A.GingerBlackness.2011-02-03.FF&UPD 96&93MB Basic 2.29 Froyo

The Philosophy:
There must be users out there that just want a simple Base ROM on which they can install whatever they want and once in a while just flash an update without the need to Wipe and restore all over again.
The Solution:
There are no ROM's that fit my needs. So I made my own personal stripped down ROM. And why not share it in the way that I strip, change an customize it for myself.
The result:
Probably the most un-fanboy-friendly ROM.
It has practically nothing that is cool, no apps and extra's, niente.
It's clean and setup for the simple man that needs all the space he can get.
(That and minimum support for Droidwall and AddFree)
Here's a few screenshots of it's Blackness.

All the usual applies, do a NanDroid, 32.47.00.32U_5.10.05.23 Radio suggested. (myself I like 32.46.00.32U_5.10.05.17_2 better)
Do a Full Wipe IF Rom doesn't boot @ First Flash. (Hopefully your last Wipe Ever)
And a partitioned SD card with Fat32 Partition First, Second a Ext3 (or Ext4) << Partition, and a small or empty Linux-Swap partition at the end.
The Download:
N.S.A.GingerBlack.2011-02-03.FF.zip (First Flash)
You can un-install: APN Backup & restore, Flickr, Friendstream, PluginManager, HTC Album, HTCCarPanel, HTC Setup Wizard, Kickback, Launcher Pro, HTC Mail, Setup Wizard, SoundBack, Sim Toolkit & Talkback if you don't need or want them around anymore.
The Update: ( For the Faithful Few)
If your updating from Pre 2011-02-03 versions un-install HTC Album first Before Flashing.
N.S.A.GingerBlack.2011-02-03.UPD.zip
UPD, does not contain Setup Wizards, AdFree, APN Backup
Only Flash the Update Zip if you are already running a N.S.A.201x-xx-xx.FF.zip or N.S.A.201x.xx.xx.UPD.zip. You should never need to Wipe anything when you flash an upd.zip. But still a NanDroid sometimes doesn't hurt. And to be on the safe side always have an APNBackup on your SD card
(you only need one)
FAQ is in Post #3 If you are interested in S-Offing your device and flashing an HBoot image with different partitions.
I have tested N.S.A. with the Bravo Data++ version. I works just great.
Extra Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Media Download.

You can off course delete wallpapers you don't like from this collection.
To Put It Simply, This ROM IS STRICTLY BAREBONES.
If it's not there, install it, it's what the market and freedom of choice is for.
Most Credits go to Paul @ Modaco from which Rom's this still uses a few parts from and which work the early versions where based on. Richard Tripp for the Uvoc Kernel. Benny879 for the use of his skinned LauncherPro & signals23 for updating it.
Please share your thoughts in a constructive way.
This Rom is based on the Desire 2.29 OTA.
I Am Not An Android Dev Or Cook, just a old XDA Member and Mod that cannot get his Fix with all the Roms on XDA Desire Forum's, with experience of cooking WM ROM's
Since it has almost nothing the list of added stuff is very short.
My own own Ringtone
A2SD+ Ext3 & 4
IPTables updated to support DroidWall
Hosts Updated.
LauncherPro 0.8.3.0 included as Launcher (In My Opinion The Best Launcher Around and.worth the Double that is being asked for in the Plus Version, you like it support the Dev)
SU Root
Slightly Customised EnergyStar to Droid BootScreen
Wake by Trackpad Only
Wifi Sleep Fix (No Wifi N support)
Klutsh's bravo-keypad.kcm.bin fix
PerfLock Disabled
DSPManager and libaudioflinger.so
Reboot Options on ShutDown Mod (only in latest UPD version)
GingerBread IME
APN Backup (For those playing around with adding Battery & Framework Mods's and suddenly finding their APN's gone.
What is extra in the UPD (Update Version)
The UPD does not contain Google Setup Wizard & HTC SetupWizard, because your not going to need them anymore at this point. It also has full battery percentage and Notification Power Mods and Reboot options.
Changes opposed to a Stripped Down MCR R9 WIP ROM.

FAQ
Q: I get an error when flashing the UPD file.
A: Flash again, it's having problems making \Data\App\, which maybe even is a good thing.

A: Go to Settings >> Applications >> Manage Applications >> All Aplications >> App >> Delete Data >> Wipe Cache >> Force Close >> Remove App >> Install From Market.

A: http://androidandme.com/2009/08/news/how-to-manually-partition-your-sd-card-for-android-apps2sd/
Q: Does this rom Support Ext4 partitions in A2SD+
A: Yes it Does.

Your Pulling My Leg
But to be honoust ATM i'm actually playing around with AurxT's Sense HD ROM ATM, it's cool but also mucho bloated.
The Super Fast Boot is not as fast when you pull the battery.
It only works when you actually use the Power Down Option Only so it looks more like some sort of Sleep mode.
I'll think over the weekend if I'd go for a Desire HD Based Rom but then with the NSA concept.
only realities... a painstaking work..
This is great..a stripped down Rom
You post a ROM that should not be posted!
Modaco dont like that anyone post his !Work.In.Progress! Roms!
You think that as an active MoDaCo and long active XDA member and Mod, that you need to give me that information.
Maybe you can tell me what the difference would be if I would just do this with the 2.10 OTA Source.
Then add in scripts other people provide, Mods other people make etc etc etc.
Would the ROM be any different after I remove everything I don't like?
All ROM's have Common Sources, Tweaks and Graphics.
Some have a few original ideas in them.
And only very few differentiate.
Go run tell Paul, so I can tell him the whole story that I cannot tell here.
thanxs... gonna try this one out.. not a big bloat fan .. so this should go well nicely
does this have undervolt/ and such features ?

Did you flash the FF.zip first?
As for HD Rom, i will only do something like that if i get a real Android Dev/Cook onboard. My amateurism won't do for that.
Adjusting Fonts in Laymans words:
Get yourself 7-Zip on Windows.
Open the UPD.zip in 7-zip.
Go to "\System\Fonts" folder and replace the Fonts.
Reflash without Whipe in ClockWork and disable Signature Checking on Rom install.
I will upload the original Fonts for those that prefer those.
And i will revert to regular Fonts in next update.
UnderVolt Modules will be added after more requests
yes i flash the ff first set up my phone and then trying to flashing the upd with no luck.

I miss this ROM. You do awesome work, think I will try it again. The updates look pretty hot.
I can answer the HDMI question this evening if no one beats me.
The new 3.0 is working great for me. Thank you Vaelek!!
STILL THE BEST ROM AVAILABLE!!!!

Excellent Sir!
Installing on HW004 now.
2 minutes 47 seconds from reboot to initial setup... Looks good to go for those who came from hboot2.02 & HW004
Had to sync contacts manually, but that is certainly no big deal... and I like that the new setup asks you to turn on wifi before it downloads anything. I guess I don't like the new adw.launcher with the customizable center widget... that sucks when you have to create a new "open launcher widget" and drag that over your accidentally customized center-widget-that-used-to-be a-launcher/trashcan.
***I prefer the HTC people/dialer/messaging over AOSP, but i can't seem to find the messaging app anymore... Is it missing? Any chance they could be side-by-side again (or available in vp settings)? ***
Also, which version of swype is the new stock one?
[edit: I just noticed the "(will be) available via Vaelpak Settings" note had the extra set of parenthesis... I guess Vaelpak settings hasn't got the upgrade yet...
VaelPak settings is messed up for me
i wiped data, cache, and davlic several times
then flashed the ROM and it worked (works) great...
after i got it all set up i thought i would change to high res
so i--
-open VaelPak settings
-granted SU permissions
-selected Amon recovery -which i use
-hit screen resolution
-selected HighRes
-clicked reboot now when it asked
-after reboot -no change
-opened vaelpak settings -and it rebooted without warning
-after reboot still no change so cleared vaelpak settings --cache
-opened it back up and apparently it didn't clear the cache because it rebooted by itself again
-after reboot still not highRes so..
-uninstalled vealpak settings then reinstalled the market version and same thing
-it did re ask the SU and Recovery questions but same thing is happening..
Vael,
Great work, love your stuff, I wanted to know if you've tried any other kernel's yet or if you might recommend one that you think will mesh well with your latest update. Thanks for your work
Looks cool and I'm downloading now. One question: what's the easiest way to get rid of the blue "Vaelpak" and "Notifications" text on the pull down shade? It's the one thing that kinda looks out of place with that font and I'm an a-hole when it comes to that stuff. Is it just a matter of flashing a theme over it?
looks good !! thanks
I'm having trouble restoring apps and system data from Titanium.
I
-open problems?
-yes, do it in response to auto-upgrade for busybox
-reboot
-open Titanium
-backup/restore
-menu
-batch
-restore missing apps + system data
Titanium then starts it's process like normal until it just closes the program and jumps to the Vaelpak bootscreen.
Thoughts, feelings?

Kinology is the premier custom ROM for the Kindle Fire HD 7" tablet. It will not work on any other device. Kinology should be considered a "hybrid OS"; it contains Amazon's 7.3.1 ICS-based core along with Google's ICS Services Framework and application stack. Let's dive right in to the feature set:

Installation
You MUST have a working custom recovery on your Kindle before attempting to install this ROM!
If you do not currently have one, try Hashcode's bootloader + TWRP.
The following instructions will get you to the latest version of Kinology. Note step 0b carefully - it determines whether you are "upgrading" (dirty-flash) or doing a clean install (wiping user data)!
Step 0 - Preparation:
If you are not currently running Kinology or Stock OS with TWRP 2.4.4.0, download Kinology-step0a-boot-7.3.0-twrp-2.4.4.0.zip. This will flash four items: stock 7.3.0 xloader, stock 7.2.3 bootloader, Freedom boot/kernel 7.3.0, and TWRP recovery 2.4.4.0.
If you want to do a clean install, download Kinology-step0b-wipedata.zip. If you want to keep your user apps and their data, do NOT include this file. Flashing this will wipe out EVERYTHING except the internal storage (sdcard). It will, however, move your currently installed apps (but not their data) to the sdcard at Kinology/AppBackup. Don't forget to delete the AppBackup folder to free up some space once you no longer need it.
Step 1 - Amazon OS:
Download Kinology-step1a-amazonos-7.3.1.zip, Kinology-step1b-amazonos-7.3.1.zip, and Kinology-step1c-amazonos-7.3.1.zip.
If you skip to step 4, you will have a stock 7.3.1 OS, unrooted, but with a custom recovery.
Step 2 - Kinology:
Download Kinology-step2-kinology-2.0.1.zip.
If you skip to step 4, you will have the base Amazon OS with all Kinology features, but no Google Framework or Apps.
Step 3 - Google Apps:
Download Kinology-step3-google-20130425.zip.
This step gives you the full Kinology Experience!
Step 4 - Flash:
Transfer all downloaded zip files to your Kindle's storage
Reboot into TWRP Recovery
Choose "Install"
Select the first zip file you downloaded
Choose "Add More Zips"
Select each zip file you downloaded in order and repeat until all files are queued
Swipe to Confirm Flash
Choose "Reboot System"
As this is a deodexed custom ROM, the first boot will take extra time to complete while it regenerates the Dalvik cache.
Additionally, if you did a clean install, please reboot your Kindle the first time you get to the "Choose your language" screen. After a clean install, Kinology needs to do some configuration that can only happen during the second boot. If you did not reboot during setup, don't worry, nothing is permanently broken - just be aware that you may experience FCs or other oddities until you reboot.

Advanced Configuration
There are a few behind-the-scenes boot-time options that can be configured through files located at /sdcard/Kinology.
OTA updates:
The packages used for OTA updates can be enabled or disabled at boot time. Just rename the file to either "ota-disable" or "ota-enable" and reboot your Kindle. It is, of course, highly recommended to leave OTA disabled, as an Amazon-triggered updated would wipe out most, if not all, of Kinology from your device.
ADB root access:
By default, ADB uses the 'root' account, and then immediately drops to the 'shell' account. This custom ROM injects a version of adbd that does not drop to the shell account. To change this behavior, rename the file to either "adbd-root" or "adbd-shell" and reboot your Kindle.
Automatic ZipAlign:
This behavior can be changed by renaming the file to either "za-enable" or "za-disable".

Known Issues
The Recents dialog doesn't accept touches when launched from a full-screen app. The workaround is to pull down the notification window first, then long-press the home icon.
So far, I have been unsuccessful at finding a fix for this.
Updating the Amazon Mobile (Tablet) app from the Play Store will cause the "Shop" link on Amazon's Launcher to stop working. There is no workaround - despite being marked as an update, these two apps are not equivalent. If you do accidentally update the app, just use Google Play Store to uninstall the update and everything will return to normal.
This cannot be fixed due to the two apps sharing the same Android identifier.
If no accounts have been added yet, the Accounts & Sync page is completely blank. Just press the menu button to add an account.
While awkward, this is the intended behavior.
If the first Google account is added by launching Play Store, you may need to wipe Play Store's data before the "My Apps" page will work properly. The workaround is to add your account through Account & Sync settings, or by launching Gmail or Talk instead.
This will not be fixed, as it seems to be a bug in the Play Store / Google Framework interaction.
The Amazon Accessibility options override the advanced options. For example, if you enable LockerPro in the advanced options, then change the Voice Guide setting from the main options, LockerPro will become disabled.
This will not be "fixed." The Amazon options are left available so that the accessibility options can easily be reset to an Amazon standard configuration.
If an app attempts to launch Accessibility options, it will FC (the intent listener is missing from Settings). You will simply need to go to Advanced Settings in Accessibility and enable the service in question manually.
Still investigating fixes for this.
Amazon's Keyboard options handling is absurd. For english users, "English (US)" is AOSP and "English (United States)" is Swype (similar for UK). For other languages you'll probably need to try the available options to figure out which is which - the order seems to be somewhat random.
I may look into changing the keyboard selector, but it is not a high priority.
Voice/Video chat functionality in Google+ Hangouts and Google Talk does not work. Attempting to use it may cause your Kindle to become unstable until rebooted (something wreaks havoc with the audio system).
This cannot currently be fixed. Someone out there please prove me wrong!
If there are lots of notifications, the icons will overlap the clock.
I don't intend to fix this, as the effort involved just isn't worth it. It's also fairly common to encounter this bug in any Android ROM that uses a centered clock.
Facelock does not work with a PIN set. It does, however, work correctly if you use a Pattern instead.
This is probably fixable, I just need to track down where exactly in the code the PIN is overriding Facelock.
Change Log
2.0.1 - 2013/04/20:
Updated the base OS to 7.3.1.
2.0 - Not publicly released:
Updated the base OS to 7.3.0.
Host file ad-blocking is no longer enabled by default. If you want this, enable it in the AdAway app that is now included. If you don't, feel free to uninstall AdAway.
The status bar now shows notification icons instead of the "My Kindle" text.
The lowest four brightness settings are now usable.
The menu button on the Navbar should now be present in all non-Amazon apps. Some apps fail to request it, and it sometimes get confused on its own. This change does add a bit of visual clutter but should prevent all of those "where'd the menu go?" moments. Note that Amazon apps will continue to do whatever they want with the Navbar buttons as they tend to crash if they don't get their way.
App suppression has been removed from Amazon's Launcher (Home). This allows you to launch things like Amazon MP3 or the App Store from their icons instead of from the menus. It also allows you to add them to the favorites window.
The certificate fixing process now only happens during Kinology's install process, so apps won't suddenly stop working if they're using generic certs.
Most recent Amazon apps integrated with the system (includes Kindle Free Time).
Gmail, Google Play, and GmsCore updated to the most recent versions.
Completely overhauled the installation process. Boot/Recovery are also now included.
1.1 - 2013/03/03:
Modified AOSP Keyboard to have a right-side margin so that the keys are no longer under the NavBar in landscape mode
Disabled scrolling cache for smoother scrolling
Disabled standard lockscreen when a secure one is enabled
Modified Bluetooth sharing to receive all file types
Modified hosts file so that BBC iPlayer can function properly
Fixed some missing libs that caused video to not play in Amazon Video app
Fixed UnifiedSearch FC (it may still FC after a fresh install, but will be fixed at the next reboot)
Modified the boot-time OTA disabler to speed up the boot process a tiny bit
Modified the Kinology version display on the About page
Integrated DSPManager from CM9
Integrated latest SuperSu (1.25)
Replaced CalendarProvider with the AOSP version to fix Google calendar corruption at boot
Updated GApps to include FaceLock, Feedback, MediaUploader, and the latest GmsCore
1.0.1 - 2013/02/26:
Added CM9 Keyboard
Added Kinology version, Select Screen Lock, and Advanced Accessiblity settings
1.0 - 2013/02/23:
Initial release

Installation
You MUST have Hashcode's bootloader on your tablet before attempting to install this ROM!
If you do not currently have Hashcode's bootloader installed, STOP and read the previous line. Kinology does not include a kernel or bootloader as part of the installation. The install scripts rely on you reading the previous line.
In order to reduce the size of downloads for future updates, Kinology is distributed in four parts plus gapps - a total of five parts. You must download all five parts to install the first time (at least if you want the feature set above - technically, gapps are optional). Parts 1 - 4 are not designed to install separately - they must be installed as outlined below. Part five can be installed at any time, but it is recommended to simply include it in the procedure below.
Procedure:
Transfer all five zip files to your Kindle's storage
Reboot into TWRP Recovery
Choose "Install"
Select the part1 zip file
Choose "Add More Zips"
Select the next part zip file
... repeat steps 5 and 6 for each of the zips, in order
Swipe to Confirm Flash
Choose "Reboot System"
As this is a deodexed custom ROM, the first boot will take extra time to complete while it regenerates the Dalvik cache.

What's the link between accessibility and LockerPro?
Edit: I suspect you're looking for the option to disable the built in Kindle lockscreen? If so, I'm afraid I missed that option for version 1.0. I've already added it to the security settings though, and will release a flash patch tomorrow.
Re: [ROM][KFHD7][7.2.3] Kinology 1.0
You need to check LockerPro in accessibility settings in order to get notificstions to the lockscreen. Basically, I want to hamdle notifications and accessibility is used for it (at least in normal ics)

Thanks for the explanation. In LockerPro lite, it currently shows "Service Inactive" under "Accessibility Service" and clicking it causes LockerPro to FC. I'll investigate that and see if there's anything I can do.

Looks like Amazon completely ripped out the normal Accessibility Services configuration in favor of their Voice Guide / Explore By Touch service (which is actually pretty neat). Unfortunately, that means I'll have to try to re-import the normal ICS settings through smali, which will take some time if even successful.
flash went ok
seems like what im looking for of the rip post in a day or two about bugs likes dislikes and battery life keep up the good work:highfive:

There isn't much visual change.

Running great, loving the little touches here and there, and seems much smoother over stock but that might just be placebo. Running governor/io at interactive/noop and battery drain while sleeping seems about the same as stock which is great but really too early to tell.
No complaints here but if I could be so bold, would you include the cyanogenmod keyboard for a future release? I've already taken that liberty with my own but I'm sure many more would appreciate it. All in all I would recommend this to everyone looking to get a bit more from their kindles.
Keep up the awesome work.
