Mobile Technology/Industry Related research help!! - General Topics

Hi XDA,
I am in the process of choosing my MSc IT dissertation title, but need some help on what to choose! I'm very interested in where M(obile)-Commerce and Mobile Development is heading but I'm not too well researched in it as yet. Is there anybody who knows of any new areas which are worth researching, or any problems, gaps in the industry, things that should be developed or will be developed in the future. Does anybody think or know of any mobile technology which will be revolutionary in the future?
I appreciate any help for this!
Thank you,
J

[Q] Looking for a potential interviewee for a college project

Hey XDA, I was wondering if anyone out there would like to give me a hand for a college project I'm working on. I'm writing about Mobile Application Development for a Technical Writing class and I was wondering if anyone here would mind being interviewed for it? I know XDA is practically world famous for their involvement with Android so it would be nice if I could get a chance to talk to a seasoned software hacker from these forums.
You can reply here or just pm me. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

[Q] New to XDA & Android OS

hi everyone, im new to XDA & also new to Android OS. I need someone who knows what they are doing to help me understand XDA & how the rooting process works.
any experienced rooters out there looking for a student??
What device do you have/ what specifically do you want to know about rooting and or xda
Far as learning what XDA is all about, this thread is a good place to start.
Welcome to the XDA community! I'm still relatively new to the Android OS as well, and my knowledge expands greatly by the day here. Really, the best way to learn XDA is to explore it all and read a lot before posting!
XDA is the resource to goto, to find out how to do stuff. However, don't shy away from using Google to familiarize yourself with the jargon used in the Android mod community. It is invaluable to know what rooting, bootloader, recovery, fastboot and adb mean, before attempting to modify your phone/tablet to something better software wise.
I haven't been around too long but I've successfully flashed roms on 3 phones if you need anything pm me. And I've done a little bit more but not much. My most advanced knowledge is making the hello world app with java lol. Good luck to ya and welcome.
The device specific forums are the best place to get rooting info for your phone. You'll find guides and wiki therein.
You might want to watch this guide to learn more about XDA itself:

[Completed] I am looking for a developer to help me

Hi
I have been asked to evaluate the viability of a mobile phone for a kickstarter project, I know nothing about software so I am looking for a little advice initially and then leading onto help developing the phone for the right people. I know details are thin but I have to be careful and only talk to people who are genuinely interested in being part of the project. My guidance will be very vague and generic to start with. UK based preferred. Thank you in advance.

Question about learning mobile development relating to work/contract jobs

I hope I'm asking this in the correct forum posting area/category, etc. At any rate, I'm new to programming, let alone mobile software development, and am interested in trying my luck as a "mobile software developer". Just curious if anyone had any advice out there for a newbie in this field. I am currently googling articles here and there, also talking to some folks helped clear up some ideas I had about it previously. Anyway, just wanted to see what people might have to say working as a mobile software developer for a living vs. doing it for fun? Just want someone to point me in the right direction if anything. Thanks in advance. Very much appreciated. Take care guy. I wish you all the best out there.
good to see theres some helpful non-selfish "millenial minded" people out there. good stuff.

Android development is like being a rock star, everybody wants to be one but ends up just playing in the garage with the local band. It's pointless to approach android development as a change in profession or a way to make a living. It's more of a hobby than profession, best to keep it at that level.
Don't get me wrong, its "possible" to become the kind of developer that can make a living on android development but the odds are very much against it, like winning the lottery.
I DO NOT PROVIDE HELP IN PM, KEEP IT IN THE THREADS WHERE EVERYONE CAN SHARE

Where to start for a career in android world ??

Hi there fellow XDAers
I'm from India and i'm very enthusiastic about smartphones. I have good english speaking and writing skills.
I've been on this forum for a decade now, all the while using files and tutorials to modify my many phones i used over the years.
I've also been active member at se-nse forums in early 2000s when i was using sony-ericsson phones.
I know how to unlock bootloader, root, install twrp and custom roms.
I'm trying find a job with my above mentioned knowledge of modifying smartphones.
If the above knowledge is not enough where/what do i start learning and practicing so that eventually atleast in a year i can find a decent job.
Please help/guide fellow XDAer, any kind of guidance would be much appreaciated.
Thanks in Advance.
Regards.
