HTC Sense for non-HTC models -> Alternatives!? - Android Apps and Games

Hello!
Is there a good alternative for non-HTC Phones for HTC Sense which is also so good?
Or is there a possibility to apply HTC Sense to a non-HTC phone via the app markets (there it is not available, or!?)...
Greetings and thx!
Plattfuss

If you neet exactly Sense-like theme, use GDE+Hero White theme, or smth like that. The only difference is that middle button is associated with main menu, not phone app.
Otherwise, just use GDE woth another themes, as for me, I like Froyo theme most. Or try another desktop environments. Compare and see for yourself.

[HELP] [WIDGET] extract htc desire sense widgets

someone could extract the widgets and the music player of
rom MODACO HTC SENSE DESIRE, for use in the nexus one with the
cyano rom? or if I could tell what files are what I
be drawn?
I'm interested in following widgets and app
1. settings
2. contact
3. weather
4. twitter
5. people
6. messages
7. mail
8. stream friend
9. music
10. clock
11. bookmarks
12. calendar
Nearly all htc sense widgets , if I am right in
the desire to have the same resolution of the nexus, these widgets should
operate in the nexus one as does the htc_IME or me
right?
maybe someone could extract these widgets and app, or tell me that
are files that I have to extract the rom
greetings and thanks in advance
This is an age old topic for any sense/hero ROM. HTC widgets only work on HTC's framework so you can't just use their widgets on any ROM.
I seen a long time ago someone mentioned that there is a wrapper around the widgets and possibly there might be a way to remove the wrapper to make it work on different builds but dont know if its true or how hard

Somebody test out the widget files? I don't have rapidshare.
Doubt the widgets will work with cyanogen's mod but keeping my fingers crossed....

This would be awesom...
If you want Sense widgets you need a Sense ROM.
There are plenty of imitations going around but nothing beats the real thing.

on a side note, is there an apk pack for froyo since froyo for evo 4g is out already?
Check out Launcher Pro Plus, the bookmarks, calander & people widgets work & function just like the sense ones! There are more coming to such as clock, weather, messages, friend stream

Sense like calender widget

I just moved from the HTC Eris(Hero) to a Motorola Droid 2 and so far I am liking it, but i am missing Sense calendar widget. Is there anything in market or something an XDA dev created that is similar to it? Or is there some how a way to get it working on the D2 with out Sense, which I hear because of the locked boot-loader is not possible at the moment. Thank you.
Launcher Pro Plus has a built in calendar widget that looks very good and similiar to the sense calendar.
No, it can't be ported because Sense is closed source and widgets rely too heavily on the sense framework. I use pure calendar grid for this function.
I prefer not to use another launcher as I am enjoying stock Android right now(a difference change from sense which I really like). I will take a look at pure widget.
BTW they were able to get most of sense on the original Droid/milestone because the boot loader was not locked. Or on the G1, G2, and other HTC device that didn't natively come with sense. As long as you have access to the framework and bootloader I think you can use a sense based rom.

For what it's worth LauncherPro is based on the stock launcher, and is almost the same in terms of looks.. just added smoothness and functionality like said widgets, resizing, built-in notification dock, etc.. you could even put the Froyo dock background on it and it would look just like the stock Android. Just saying in case you think it will look all themed-out..

Yes but you are not able to use the widgets without using the sense launcher... it's as easy as that
I will demo both and see what I like better. I just assumed that pro meant paid version.
Edit: I guess if I want the calender widget I have to go with the paid plus version. I wish I could demo the Plus before I make a decision.
I have tried a few calendar Widgets including the one from launcher pro and Calendar Pad, but found that Jorte is the best one for me and my wife. Many options from sizes to colors. Extremely customizeable.
Look up Jorte in the marketplace, plus it's free
I use jorte. I think youll like it, http://androinica.com/2010/04/16/jorte-is-a-promising-android-calendar-replacement-app-reviews/
That doesn't look like a bad option either. Hmmmm.

Wm sense slider doc for android.

I have searched for this but can't.find anything on it.
Being a recent migrator from wm to android I kind of miss the wm sense slider doc.
I have had a look at and tried adw and launcher pro but they're not what I mean. Htc widgets have it on android but not on.the doc?
Is it me, or am I missing something....can anyone point me in the right direction please.

Have a look at Widget Locker...
Thanks - looks good but still not what i am looking for....
It's the WM6.5 Sense UI (Manila) 2.5 style launcher.....
The one that allows you to select/launch any one of numerous 'home' screens with just one swipe.... not the multiple required on any other android launcher doc -
Or am i still missing something.
I know you said you tried it, but try adw and go into the settings.. general.. swipe up action.. show previews
I'm not too familiar with what your looking for but this will bring up a preview of your screens for you to jump to.
Also I have sense previews turned off, but maybe that's what you want???

Coming from winmo too, I know what you mean. But unfortunately, there isn't a shell which is capable of mimicking sense 2.5 yet.
I also have been looking for this.I am an X winmo, Htv Imagio user that has Manila 2.5. I have had no luck.

SPB Shell 3D kinda does this...
I agree, that WinMo Sense UI was pretty neat!!!
Have been looking sense moving to android. I hate to say it but it isn't out there.

totally agree. i prefer thatr launcher by far to anything out there today.

HTC Wigets

I am interested in putting together a list of ALL official HTC widgets, either stock widgets found on different HTC devices as well as the "additional" widgets no one can seem to download.
I think this tread should be sticky-ed and should be made the HTC widgets archive thread.
Why? because I am sure most will agree that the HTC widgets are the best widgets for Android but there are so many out there and putting them all in one place for HTC device owners to download and enjoy just makes sense (get it? like HTC Sense? hahaha). For example, I have a myTouch 3G Slide which has some cool widgets on it and my friend just got a Droid Incredible with has some awesome widgets that I don't have and want, this would be a great place to post them.
Anyways, if you have a rooted HTC device or have any HTC widgets post them here. Extracting widgets from HTC roms is also a good way to get them.
+1 for this idea...
for me the best player for android is Winamp, I can even sync with my music from pc
A list of available widgets would be awesome. I think that's one of the reasons I go from ROM to ROM. Just want something fresh and better looking.

[Q] has any one ever considered........

well I have tried every launcher on the Android market and found non to my taste..... I like the Sense that comes stock on the Inspire 4g, "BUT" as I was playing around with the Launcher Pro, I really like the "Dock," "Dock background" and the "Transition Effect" the visual effect used when switching between home screens. Is there anyway I can get those just mentioned on to my HTC Sense 2.1? the only reason I don't like Launcher pro is because it does not have alot of widgets like HTC Sense does, any help????? thanks in Advance.

call up HTC. Other than that, you cant get a personalized launcher to that specifics unless you make one yourself. And with sense 4.0 working its way out, you wont see as much development for older sense versions. and each launcher can have tons of widgets, just the main ones dont come with a lot of built in. go and download whatever widgets you want and you can experience the same as sense.
Thank you for your response, but I have finally customized Launcher pro for my needs by keeping it down to 3 screens and utilizing those app and widgets that I use on a daily basis, works out very well.

If you want widgets like sense then try Android Pro widgets. Not free but do a great job of replacing the sense widgets.
If you want a dock and the actual sense widgets then here's a link to the htc one ics/sense 4 rom
