can someone mod the app to not auto rotate? Trust me, all my settings have auto rotate off already yet it still does it on its own. Lol.

No problem, for future updates if they dont fix it, just use the script i mentioned earlier, and edit the androidmanifest.xml and change all lines that say
android:screenOrientation="sensor" to android:screenOrientation="user"

[tweak] Change screen resolution (density)

WORKING EXCELLENT with G2X Gingerbread leak update.zip, you will be in love !!!! NO MORE BAGS at all !!!
I was very surprised ! When I saw that LG G2x working EXCELLENT with density "190" with out ANY COSMETIC problem !!!!
Example: My nexus S of cause working too with "190 Density" BUT I got a lot of problem ! BECAUSE "ROM" not intended" to work with higher resolution !!!!!!!... EXAMPLE I got bad LOCK SCREEN, some widgets sucks...etc.
but I remembered first review about LG Optimus 2x, It said that the phone has higher resolution, plus I saw the photo.)
So lets START !
U need Root Explorer !
1) open root explorer.
2) go to system
3) open "Build.prop" (long press on it>open in text Editor)
4) almost at the bottom u will SEE this: ro.sf.lcd_density=240
5) Change 240 on 190
6) Close and save.
7) Fix permissions. (better do it in "rom manager")
8) Restart your phone.
(If you will find any bag, u can easy return everything back, I found only 1 ! On Latitude Icons funny lol!.....)
Unfortunately you can not see all the "buzz" from Screen shots:

Looks weird. What are the advantages? Just that you can see more entries in a scrollable list like Gmail, settings, etc? Does the keyboard get smaller? Smaller keyboard is a no-go for me. I have big fingers.

Yup. Just makes everything smaller so you can view more on the screen at one time than you can by default.
Thanks for thread was curious how to do this outside of using the root tools app. Ended up with a density of 190, its all compact and tiny but the clock text is still visible.

Be aware some apps will no longer render full screen after changing this setting, you'll have to decide what you're willing to deal with if it happens or ask the dev of the app to do whatever it is with their app so it works with other random density.

no, you need to uncheck the compatibilty check box, and then reboot. that will make 95% of apps render correctly on the lower DPI.

[APP][THEMED] Gmail 2.3.5.. Blacked Out!!

Ok, here is it.. just pushed last night and already inverted! The major part of this was done by B-boy, I just added the finishing touches and did a few smali edits..
Instructions for ROOTED users.....
uninstall updates for gmail
download the app
navigate to app

if this doesn't work, then you will need to use RE, rename gmail.apk in /system/app to gmail.apk.old and then REBOOT, if you do not reboot it won't work!!
Now return to the app, select it, and install... enjoy
Non-Rooted users, you can give this a try and see if it will work...
uninstall updates for gmail

navigate to app
select and install
You will know right away if it works.....
Always make a backup and enjoy Gmail 2.3.5.... Blacked Out

If I wanted to change the read/unread could you point me to the correct file and line? Also what is the smali color code for the grey that you use? Also the html color code for the grey. I could probably find out where in the files they are located if I knew the color code. I have a black/blue theme and am wanting to redo my Gmail to match it. If it won't install, then go into /system/app and delete the Gmail.apk in there and reinstall.. You will need to reboot after deleting the file though, or the install will fail

[Q] Good Missed It! Alternative?

I'm looking for a highly configurable, minimalistic missed call/text/email notification center to use in conjunction with WidgetLocker. I've run the gamut by now. Missed It! is pretty good, but still not quite as tweakable as I'd like. Ideally, it'd be terrific if the notifications hid when there were no missed calls/texts, and appeared only when needed.
Anyone have a good alternative?
Thanks.

Hi! Just like you, I got Missed It! so that I could properly combine it with WidgetLocker... and if I understand correctly what you want, Missed It! does have it: in Settings -> Output format, uncheck "Always show output".
Interesting. I'll give that a shot. "Always show output" isn't exactly the most self-explanatory menu item...

Certain things don't work correctly with a non-standard lockscreen. I use Phonelocator Pro and it acts as a manager using the internal Android lockscreen but NOLed still does not work correctly with it. The developer confirmed this in his thread.

I thought phone locator was an app to know the location of a phone, and not a lockscreen? In any event noLed works with golocker. Which lockscreen are you using?

In order to prevent the app from being disabled, it acts as a "device administrator." It uses the default Android Lockscreen still but the dev. said it was no-go no noLED. Perhaps he didn't understand just how Phonelocator modifies default behavior, but regardless that was his answer.

Alternative to changing LCD density.

I usually always change the density because of the font being too huge by default, but I recently found an app called Big Font in the market.
Try it out. It's awesome and no longer do I have to keep changing the LCD back just to download certain apps from the market.
Just thought I'd share with people .

As do I but I hate when I would have to change density to download apps in the market.
This is a very viable substitute for me that I'll probably always use from now on.
It also has a feature to exclude certain apps from having their font changed which is very useful.
I just edit my build.prop and than replace the default market with the modified market with the default dpi hardcoded into it. The market will think the screen size is default no matter what size you change it to. I just use root explorer.

This is my first app, so lots of *constructive* feedback would be nice.
It's nothing special (I did it on MIT AppInventor like the noob who knows no java that I am)
Ever leave somewhere and forget how to get back?

Simply press the button and it will remember your "Island Location" -- for you Lost fans --which you can name.
The rest is pretty self explanatory.

-- Added 2 customizeable saved locations
-- Fixed buttons getting cut off
// What's new in 2.1
-- Settings bugs hopefully fixed -- I'm currently testing it
*Changng to Lost background will apply after app is closed and reopened
// What's new in 2.0
-- Settings -- Change the look of the main screen
MORE SETTINGS TO COME -- just a trial run right now
// Planned changes for next version
-- Whatever I can think of. Any suggestions?
P.S. If you want an older version just pm me I'll get it for you
Has anyone used this app? Really looking for some feedback...
I downloaded your app, and you have a good idea and it is functional, although obviously limited in design and some functionality due to the lack of raw java. I also think it would be nice to have some settings of some sort, if it's possible to add those with the program you used to create it

Does your app do something that using Google Maps w/ starred locations doesn't do?
If I go somewhere and think I might be so unfamiliar with the area that I might not be able to locate my car, I star the location I've parked at then use that when I leave wherever I went to easily find my spot.
It kind of sounds like your app does this too, but as its only feature?

Probably not. The only difference I imagine is that the app does it just by pushing buttons. It actually uses Google maps for directions. Sorry if that's disappointing for you haha
