GTX Boot Splash Screen + Requests being taken. - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

I created a GTX boot splash and decided to share it in the ✰✰✰✰ Everything GTX ✰✰✰✰ thread. Since it was made for the HD2 I thought I would reference it here. The direct post is HERE
I will take any requests for boot splash screens GTX style or not if you upload a 480 x 800 image for me I will create the NBH.

take it theres nobody interested in a custom boot splash screen?

I'm fine thanks, but on a completely unrelated question... What was ****e about the k750i? I kinda loved Sony Ericssons back then, and I used that phone a lot. On days when my HD2 annoys me, I sometimes think back to it

It was ok at first like most SEs but then the problems. The d-pad stick became really un responsive, I had to really mash it to get it to select a word while texting. One day the keypad seemed to completely 're-wire' itself as in my phone crashed one day and when I went to type in my PIN code random things like 1 went to the right and 6 deleted backwords in other words it ended up blocking my SIM card. Then after I got my PUK code started working again. Then few weeks later it died completely. Im not having SEs ever again. My wife had a w810i that randomly died. When I learnt about flashing etc I managed t fix her c902 when it randomly lost its entire file structure. Have had t do the same to a friends c902 and again for someones c905. I find they just seem to destroy themselves in general SEs.
By far the best phone (or at least my fondest memories) are of the Nokia 7610. Amazing phone and it had multi tasking which i really missed with the SE. Rant over

Haha thanks for the reply, wow that sounds like a bad build of phone. I found mine (I went through about four of that generation) got battered after about a year but generally held up, and I lovd their music players and cameras, although not much else However they were still my favourite type of phones until the HD/HD2 came out - I'm still not a giant fan of typing on touchscreens, although I think that's down to the HD2's particularly awful out-of-the-box texting client. (I can't stand iPhones, but if I touch one I always open the keyboard and find I can rattle along with no problems)

I'm interested in an alternative boot screen... however haven't a clue what I want as yet lol

I'm not the worlds best with a graphics editor but i will try. i was mainly just going to convert existing images into nbh's. However what are you after? the same as the one i have done without the GTX logo? what colours do you want background and text. if you have an image already post it here and i can convert it.

touch pro2

ok i just got my touch pro yesterday, i was pretty excited
to get the phone. But after using it for part of the evening
and this even. i must say this is the worst phone, or
should i say OS 6.2.
The name touch doesnt even fit this freakn phone.
am so frustrated with this thing i feel like crashing
against the wall.
i've been using the iphone for two years, but before
that i have an MDA. it ran just great! i mean with this
thing, i had problems with clicking on links and such
hotmail was a nightmare! anyway, i have an expensive
phone and i will end up tossing it to my daughter. i dont have time to deal with this garbage device. Ive made up my
mind, i will just buy the new iphone 3gs.
i just had to share my frustration guys, thanks for reading!
Did you play with it in the store?
Next time do all of the following:
1) Reformat the phone on the spot in the store
2) Use the phone
if you came from an I phone.... they use a different touch display setup on those. the HTC phones are a capactive reflex interface and require a heavier touch.... might be a bunch of your problem???
but either way... try rebooting and see if you like it more, that or pick up a different rom...
Have you been keeping up with the xda rhodium section info for the last 3 months? All new roms, hardspl, fixes, tweeks, etc are there...
thx
thanks for the response guys. that's why I like the board, people are always willing to help. that made feel a little bit better, just that I can can do a little with it to tweak it.
thanx

Big Problem, Anyone have any suggestions?

I have a dilemma, im on my second fuze (first one had ear piece speaker problems, but flashed back to stock rom and SPL and did a warranty claim so that was no problem), now this one is having a problem where the PTT button must be shorted out or something because no matter what i do (hard reset, soft reset, take battery and sim card out) it keeps opening the comm manager and also the camera, and continues to shoot pictures untill i shut the stupid thing off. has anyone had this problem with the ptt button sticking? I cant send it in for another warranty claim because i have HardSPL on it and the newest NRG Rom, with the ptt button being constantly on i am not able to use the phone at all and can not flash everything back to stock to send it in.
any help would be appreciated, thanks guys

This doesn't insult or upset anyone here. You are free to do as you want. One of the advantage of windows mobile is the vast amount of customization, which sometimes runs you into an issue or two.
You could flash a different rom via the microSD.
Download the rom you want to flash and locate the .NBH file. If its a shipped/stock rom, you'll have to extract it form the .exe.
Rename the .nbh file to RAPHIMG.NBH and copy it to the root of your storage card
Put your device in bootloader mode and it should prompt you if you want to flash your device.
Best of luck

Customization, many freeware apps that are very good. As a professional who interfaces with many clients, my TP has been kept stock, only adding apps that I need. I have had mine about 4 months of flawless usage. Like any windows os's, if you don't know what you are doing, or install/uninstall lots of apps, you will run into problems.

sorry boys, i know id get flamed for thinking of buying an iphone. however now having bought one i dont think ill look back. yeah winmo is fun because you can customize the hell out of it but from my 3 years of using it thats about all it is good for. if you look at 90% of the apps for winmo all they do is try and make up for winmos shortcomings. i just picked up a iphone 3gs, and the camera is ten times better than my fuze was, not to mention the video recording is absolutely amazing for a phone. i actually enjoy web browsing on this phone, the messaging and mail app is very intuitive. and the gps locks instantly (big plus for me) as far as customizing the iphone there is always jailbreaking it which when you think about it is not that dissimilar than hardspl'ing a winmo phone. im not bashing winmo i actually enjoyed using and still do on my x51v but when i want to pull out my phone and check facebook or write a note or snap a quick pic or video the iphone is hands down better than any winmo phone i have ever used.
p.s. by the way forget frying an egg on the iphone, i could grill a steak on my fuze when it was using any amount of data

I couldn't seem to find any pictures of an atomic Fuze, but plenty o'pics of the fried iPhones.
To each their own. Enjoy!
dont get me wrong i really did enjoy using the fuze and windows mobile and actually would love to have both devices, but its silly to just blindly hate the iphone for no good reason. it kinda reminds me of the ford chevy mopar feud lol. everyone hates the other ones but when you actually drive all three you notice they arent that different at all

Yes, driving them seems similar but when things break and you need to fix it, that's when things become clear.
And you're right, to blindly hate is pointless.
I am just anti-apple period because of their all-exclusive devices and OS'.
I hated my Fuze out of the box but eventually I was able to make it do what I wanted and needed. Its that freedom that makes me appreciate WinMo, bugs and all.
And let's face it, even the iPhone has had it's share of issues out of the box, which is supposed to be their claim to fame....
Again, to each their own. No one's flaming you for your choice.
but.....
Chevy Rules!
one thing i dont get is why people say the iphone is so locked down, really jailbreaking is just the same as hardspling a winmo phone, same warranty void and same endless options to modify the phone

I guess, but I get to keep my cheapo 15 dollar unlimited data package and I get to tether with it and you dont.
Haha and theres a couple things the fuze stock can do that the iphone cant.
1. MMS
2. FM Radio
3. Flashlight
4. Download songs off the web (MP3's)
5. Send and receive files and voice clips in Windows Live Messenger (MSN)
I'm missing some others but I'm sure it goes both ways. Although I got to say Opera 9.7 beta on turbo mode beats the iPhone 3GS surfing the web hands down. Super blazing fast.

[Q] Newbie to HTC Legend

Hi all,
I have a friend who has a bricked Legend, and I have said that I will attempt to install a updated ROM for her.....
Problem is, although I have done this a few times with MY LG GT540, I have done nothing with HTC.
Could anyone point me in the right direction for a guide to updating the Legend to the latest ROM, including any downloads that I'd need.
Thanks very much,
Mango
I would start with the sticky at the top of THIS page.
Good luck.
Thanks Dirk (Love the name, by the way!)
But looking through that it's very difficult to get a sense of what I'll need to do, and in what order.....
The LG is pretty easy, as you have a KDZ installer......But on that stickie it seems a bit random!
Right....having now got the Legend in front of me, I need to know what to do!
It seems to be having a software glitch on the previous update.....Cannot get in to see which update it was, and my friend has no idea either.
She had sent it back to V'phone, and also HTC to get them to do something, but they keep fobbing her off.
I said I'd have a look, but it really doesn't seem as straight forward as LG!
Are you ever able to boot into a working OS (doesn't sound like it), or does it crash out before loading the desktop?
What sort of errors or faults are we dealing with here basically?
Basically, it starts up.....
It loads up the OS, but from there, it can take anything from 2-5mins to freeze up.
The notifications bar will not pull down, and then, when it does it sticks.
I've said that she probably needs it to be re-installed.....(Hopefully with a newer version).
Vodaphone and HTC have both been useless for her. I woulda thpought HTC would've just flashed it and be done....but no!
So I thought I'd come searching on here! But the sticky doesn't help me that much! I'm from the LG forum, where everything is set out in !idiot guides"!!
I do work in IT, so I am pretty competent, but haven't touched an HTC before!
Thanks for your replies
Right....Done a factory reset, and when the Legend comes on, it is completely unresponsive.
Plus, the screen image shakes from side to side, in a quite violent manner!
It would appear that I can move the screen without even touching it!
Any help is gratefully received!!
Sounds like a hardware issue then. If you were able to factory reset without any improvement at all i'd say that software problems are pretty much ruled out.
If i were you i would have a good rant at Vodafone until they agree to swap the unit with a working model.
Thanks again, Dirk....
I have emailed her to let her know your thoughts!.
Long, dark tea-time awaits
Always a pleasure to speak with a fellow fan
Good luck with the phone. Vodafone have always caved in when i've kicked up a stink about various faults etc so i hope your friend gets a result.
Apparently, she has already been intouch with both HTC and V'phone....and neither are prepared to do anything about it.....
Still worth a screaming match with them???
On an unrelated point..... Did you see Steven Mangan as Dirk? Was disappointed that the book was so thoroughly mashed, but was still entertaining!

Another Good Bye thread

Hey guys... well I didn't want this to be another "**** you Motorola, I'M OUT!" thread, instead I wanted to let you guys know how I got my A2 replaced and say thanks to a few people.
I'm currently on my 4th A2 and this one is starting to exhibit all the same signs that the 2nd one did (audio from the speaker is bad, random restarts etc.) I've been with AT&T since it was AT&T then bought by Cingular then back to AT&T, so I have a little clout with them. I've also made sure to document with them every issue both locally here at the repair center and with phone support.
I called up AT&T 2 nights ago and went through the usual run around. I let them know I had already done a factory restore and all the other scripted steps and the problem persists. FInally I got them to agree to replace the phone. They initially offered me a Galaxy sII or an Atrix HD. The rep stayed on the phone for 15 minutes quietly and patiently waiting while I researched each phone's specs and reviews. I told them I needed to think about it and research each phone. I was none too happy about this because when I bought my phone I had an entire store to choose from, but now they were only offering me choices of 2 phones, neither of which I would have chosen from the current crop. I asked them if I could call back with a decision but the rep informed me that "other call centers" don't have the same abilities she did at this call center but that she could call me the next day at a specific time.
When she called back I explained my frustration again with only being able to choose from another locked down Motorola phone or a last generation Samsung, and politely asked for a manager. She put me on hold and came back to tell me that it was in the middle of a shift change and that the sole manager was on a call with another customer BUT she had asked him for another option of phone and he agreed to an HTC OneX. I accepted and they even waived the expedited shipping fee.
So I'm leaving this bastard device in the dust but wanted to say a HUGH thank you to to entire community before I left. Thanks to Jim, rdavisct, Apex-Strider, and everyone for being a great community that stuck together despite being abandoned by Motorola.
TL;DR: AT&T is giving me an HTC OneX because the Atrix2 is a steaming pile of poo, and thanks to everyone here for being awesome.
Sorry about your experience but it's not representative of the A2. You were just terribly unlucky to get 4 lemons in a row! Anyway, great deal you extracted for yourself. Enjoy your new phone.
Man you guys(customers in the us) are really kings! Cant expect anything like that here, even if its a legit problem they will tell you that there is a liquid damage and its not covered under warranty.. thats how bad customer care is in india.

I am sorry to say but it is kinda normal.... I have had 7 A2s now, 4 of them were my fault because of the BL stuff and the other 3 were just issues with the phone itself.

Wow... good deal on the one X!
I bought my A2 new and NEVER had an issue that wasn't my fault (recently accidentally deleted the home launcher app so now I'm forced to run a play store launcher).
The only thing that bugs me bout this phone is that locked BL and no official ICS.... other than that great phone!

I find hard to believe the histories of this people saying that they are going for their 4, 5 or even 6 device and all of them gave them problems, i think they just dont understand that android is a very unstable OS and if they install a lot of apps from the play store (a lot of them crash sometimes) and also are trying to install custom roms and other stuff it is obvious they are gonna get some kind of random reboot or any other issue, but that does not mean that the phone itself is bad.
now some people may kill me for saying this, but i think atleast untill gingerbread, android is far away from iOS (i dont know about ICS), say all you want that apple dont let you do this and that, but iOS is just a great OS, even from its first version was as smooth as "project butter" in jelly bean or even more. before i had my atrix i just had a "regular phone" and an ipod touch 4g, its been hard to get used to android. is a little laggy, the web browser is not even closer to the browser in iOS (i dont really care about flash) and the famous widgets of android are just crap, the so called super customization is not more that a bunch of ugly widgets on the screen that just make the phone looks "dirty" , windows phone gave a much better and elegant solution for widgets.
everyone is always hating on apple here, and there are some reasons to hate apple, i agree, but for the most part the iphone has been ahead of android phones since always.

my comment it is not about the devs here, it is about an OS. i really don't understand your reply. i really appreciate the work of the android communities for trying to make the user experience on adroid better so if you misunderstood what i said, it was nothing against devs.
I don't do any dev work because I don't have time to learn, hold a full time job in a completely unrelated field, and raise my 18 month old daughter. I'm on my third A2, both previous ones had factory issues(refurbs through insurance replacement). The phone does have issues, but anyway, nice score on the onex and enjoy!

Congrats on the sweet upgrade. Jealous....
I had a similar issue with my HTC Vivid. In my case it was a software flaw that when you get into an edge area it trys to hit HSPA+. Like you they didn't offer me anything. I hit an AT&T Corporate store. The day I hit this store a district manager was there. At no point did I get mad just voiced my displeasure. They did me one better by allowing me to take any phone so I took the Note. I passed on S3 even. Given my HTC issues I wasn't taking the One X.

My first A2 died less than a month after I got it. It flat out died, no power no boot up. Nothing. I took it back to best buy.
My 2nd A2 developed an issue after 4 months of use where any audio from the external speaker would distort worse and worse during use (I use my phone as a GPS unit. I'm new to Seattle.) and then eventually cut out entirely. I work nights and one night it did this to me on the way home. I had to detour from my usual route home due to massive construction. I didn't notice that the GPS had stopped talking until I was 7 miles past my exit.
My 3rd A2 had almost no WiFi connectivity. I could be sitting feet from my router and it would register almost no connectivity. I verified this with a WiFi analyzer, WiFiFoFum and speedtest.net.
My 4th A2 (this one) is starting to have the same audio distortion and is constantly rebooting. Not force close but a hard restart. AT&T sent me a battery first but the problem continues.
The Android OS is NOT an unstable OS, and for even suggesting that you've lost all credibility. I've played with custom Roms since my PocketPC days and I know when to screw with them and when not to. After my 2nd A2 I stopped with all of that except for rooting so I could install a few apps that require it. With my last A2 I've been COMPLETELY stock, not even a root to make sure that if there was another problem it was with the phone and not something I've done.
I have an iPhone for work and my A2 for personal use. Each phone is different but saying one OS is better than another is ignorant. They are tools that do different things, saying one is better than another is like saying that a wrench is a better tool than a hammer without giving the context for what you are using it for.

but if you use your wrench as a hammer it's the best of both worlds.

Water damage, or bad quality chinese soldering work. Or maybe you cooked it(see last paragraph).

My 2nd A2 developed an issue after 4 months of use where any audio from the external speaker would distort worse and worse during use (I use my phone as a GPS unit. I'm new to Seattle.) and then eventually cut out entirely.

Flat out busted your speaker membrane, if you cant hear it near 70% volume, just plug it in your car audio. Wouldn't be surprised to hear you had your car radio on, and the you had the 0.1w phone speaker competing with it.
If you've ever seen a proper gps unit, take note of the size of the speaker on it, its massive compared to the one on your phone.

My 3rd A2 had almost no WiFi connectivity. I could be sitting feet from my router and it would register almost no connectivity. I verified this with a WiFi analyzer, WiFiFoFum and speedtest.net.

Your phone's antenna wasn't plugged in properly. It was probably a refurb(but not necessarily), the shoulder of your antenna plug got popped out of place when they put the case back. Sloppy work from the (refurb) facility - wasn't tested properly.

My 4th A2 (this one) is starting to have the same audio distortion and is constantly rebooting. Not force close but a hard restart. AT&T sent me a battery first but the problem continues.

You didnt learn from your mistake last time - I don't blame you, you didnt know what happened - and busted the speaker again. Keep in mind some apps like the gps(or roms like sc) one can have the volume boosted, just because the max has been put there, doesnt mean you should run it near it. The bass boost options dont do it alot of good either, it puts a huge extra strain on it and I doubt there's at least a software crossover in the thing.
About the reboots, could be anything, for example, if you live in a hot area, it can easily happen that your phone overheated while installed on your windshield.
You know there's a saying, if you're always clear by means of yield(give way) signs, but get into 10 car accidents a year, you're probably still doing something wrong.

I'm new to Seattle.) and then eventually cut out entirely. I work nights and one night it did this to me on the way home. I had to detour from my usual route home due to massive construction. I didn't notice that the GPS had stopped talking until I was 7 miles past my exit.

They are tools that do different things, saying one is better than another is like saying that a wrench is a better tool than a hammer without giving the context for what you are using it for.

the audio distortion seems to be a relatively known issue with the atrix 2, and most of the issues you name here seems to be software related rather than hardware.
and yes, android it is unstable compared to iOS, i have not tried Windws phone enough time to give an opinion.. in this few weeks with android i've had more crashes with apps and little issues than i had with iOS in months.
maybe the kernel itself doesn't fully crash, it is linux after all, but i repeat atleast untill gingerbread (i have not tried ICS or jelly bean yet) android has a lot to improve.
and i do not agree that "they are tools that do different things" , they are basically smarthphones that do the same things in different ways and yes, i can find one better than the other, it is a PERSONAL OPINION after all.

switching to android, hi

so im making the switch from ios to android. ive had ios since the iphone came out but made the switch to android a few years back with an htc vivid but the back plate got too hot to hold so i traded it in for a galaxy s2 and after about 6mons of ownership, i dropped it on carpet and it turned off and wouldnt turn back on. after that, i switched back to ios. so i had a bad first experience with android. i just ordered the opo and plan on rooting it day one. i always jailbroke my iphones and wanted widgets and weather on my lockscreen but the options ios users have are crap and drain the battery. im a big fan of street fighter 4 volt on ios and will be sad that i cant play online anymore, but im sure ill find another game on android that i love too.
im coming from an iphone 6 (not the 6 plus) and i felt like the screen was too big, but the more i thought about it, i think apple just didnt handle the larger screen sizes very well. they put all the buttons at the top of the screen. on android a lot of the buttons are at the bottom. this was annoying in apps like mail. i switched to mercury browser on ios and made it the default web browser, so ill likely do the same on android but i want to try out a few and see. the ones i know of are... mercury, dolphin, and k9 (i think thats what its called). mail apps i honestly have no clue what you guys use but i heard the stock mail app that is on cm is pretty good. i use 3 gmails, an icloud, and an outlook, so id need something that can manage all 5
im excited to learn about android and what all it has to offer and i hope eventually ill be able to help the next new guy like myself

Welcome back to Android. The first thing you need to do when you get your phone is unlock your bootloader, do this before you really start using it because doing so wipes all user data. Even if you don't want to flash ROMs having an unlocked bootloader is essential because you need it unlocked to flash stock images, and flashing stock images is what will get you out of trouble if something ever goes wrong with your device. I've written a very detailed and easy to understand guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2839471
You might be tempted to use a toolkit to do things for you, but I'd advise you not to because they bypass some very crucial learning. And anyway, a toolkit really isn't needed for this device, it's very easy to work with. So check out my guide and feel free to ask any questions if any arise.

The android is based off Linux. So everything is open source. Anything broken can be repaired. Take time to read and study. Learn all you can, and use a second phone for development. Remember.. Always make a backup...Always have redundant copies
Cheers, and enjoy.
