ROM Backup in Bootloader Mode? MTTY, TerraTermPro? - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hey,
Is there any possibility of performing a backup in Bootloader Mode if you can not enter myphone or spb?
-I have tried MTTY 1.42 following this thread
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=246010
->MTTY recognizes the device but keeps telling me "Command Error"
Do I have to use other commands from the Universal?
h/?/help did not work out.
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540290
->gave me no hints.
-I have tried to use Terra Term Pro 2.3 following this thread
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=261835 (third post)
-> it seems that TTP can not communicate with it as I am only able to choose COM 3 (no USB, all others tell me "cannot open com X").
If I go on using COM 3, i get connected but no response on "r2sd all"
Is there a way of accessing the phone via Linux?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

In your active sync connection settings on your pc, you need to check 'allow usb connections'. Then set the com to usb. I'm guessing that's the problem (could be wrong, lol).

Thanks, but the problem is that AS does not recognize the phone anymore. That is why I am trying to access it in bootloader mode. Or does it make sense to check allow usb connections when the phone is not attached and I would have to shut down AS prior using MMTY/TTP?

You need to change the AS settings so you can connect to the PC through USB when you're in bootloader mode. Just try it.

Ok, did not help.
No response from TerraTerm and MTTY does not even tell me "Command Error" anymore
Do I use the right commands?
TTP: "r2sd all"
MTTY: "d2s 70100000 04000000" / "d2s 74100000 00a00000"
Is there another way, another tool for me to try out?
How to access it using Linux?
Many Thanks

MTTY basic use

Hello,
I'm trying to fix a problem in another thread and can not get MTTY to connect to my Tilt 8900. Is 1.42 the current version? Shouldn't USB be available in the list of Ports? I only have COM 1,2,3 & 7 available to choose and I have deselected "Allow USB connections" in Windows Mobile Device Center.
Once I get MTTY to connect, how does this program even work? Do I just type a command like 'boot' and hit enter?
Thanks for your help.
type USB when you go to select COM port.. (instead of com type USB)

Frankenkaisers for different radio versions

In this threat i gonna upload some patched frankenkaisers for different versions.
With "FrankenKaiser" you can unbrick "task 2a" bricks:
There is no SPL, Splash and OS present as "task 2a" formats the entire application area.
Before FrankenKaiser there was no method available to unbrick and therefore they were called "hard bricks"
With frankenkaiser you can also revive kaisers where you don't see anything on it but is detectable (after turning on your device) in windows as an other device:
you got stuck in the OEMSBL and you can only talk to your device with mtty.
Credits goes to Jocky Wilson who created the original frankenkaisers. (Paypal to [email protected])
I've only changed them to work with different versions.
These versions are created at forum user requests.
Method to dump your rom:
1. connect your bricked phone and power it on
2. connect with MTTY to diag port COM#: (look up # in device manager)
3. type "radata" followed by enter (you'll see a parameter error message)
4. type "GO2AMSS" followed by enter
5. your phone should now change to "QC download mode"
6. use "QPST Memory Debug" tool to dump smi.bin and ebi.bin
7. zip smi.bin and upload it to Rapidshare (or any fileshare service) and send me the link

Frankenkaiser for other versions can be created in this thread
Excellent work massivekid, just what I needed to fix the 600+ bad blocks on my spare Kaiser! Thank you!
You da MAN!!!
Turns out I cannot use any of this because my laptop has NO COMM ports.
Unless I can find a USB to serial adapter and force a COMM port, I'm stuck.
You don't need a com port. If your phone is in OEMSBL then it will ask for a different driver. This driver will create a virtual com port on your computer thru USB.
First of all, thanks for creating frankenkaisers for different radio versions,
but I need some help, my radio is version V1.71.09.XX, I did all the steps to rescue the phone up to step 11, and when I connect the usb to computer, windows shows an error and wont recognize the usb connector, not allowing me to flash the hard spl through usb. would be absolutelly happy if you would help me solving this.
Do you see the tricolor screen?
Did you disconnect and reconnect the usb cable again and do you see USB on the tricolor screen?
if no usb is seen, redo steps 7-10 again (after pulling your battery) but this time in step 9 run FrankenKaiser with the other SPL "sspl-0.92-jumpspl-force-usb.nb".
this will force usb detection.
i redid steps 7-10 at least 10 times already, tri-color screen shows up with the first spl and gives problem when connecting the usb, when I try the 0.92 spl the screen stays black (I tried connecting the usb even with it staying black and the same error message showed up)
*During the whole step by step the only difference I saw between my results and the screenshots was the oesmbl version on screenshot 7, where instead of a "2" there was a "1"
And did you tried the "sspl-0.92-jumpspl-force-usb.nb" at step 9?
If you enter mtty and type ? or h what is the output of the command?
if you see a lot of commands, then your device is security unlocked.
the "sspl-0.92-jumpspl-force-usb.nb" file is to force USB connection so you can connect with usb.
If that doesn't work, try with the original spl and after cego, pull the usb cord quickly and if the tricolor appears, try to connect the usb again.
after typing "h"

the "sspl-0.92-jumpspl-force-usb.nb" gives only blackscreen on the phone, no tri-color.
I`ll try the first spl and take out the usb quickly.
Same result after pulling usb quickly after doing the command "cego"
Tried the same with sspl-0.92 and the blackscreen apears the same way, and the error message on windows is the same:
(translation might no be exact because my windows is in portuguese)
"One of the usb devices connected to this computer had a problem and windows can not recognize it. to get help click on this message.
After clicking it shows a windows with a root usb hub, 4 usb doors being one of them the one where the phone is connected with a red X before it.
Ps.: I`m not exactly sure, and I don`t know if this might influence on anything, but if I remember right, when first unlocking my phone, the JumpSPL1.56-KAIS.exe wasn`t effective, I needed using one of the other 2 jumpspl available on that thread.
With "sspl-0.92-jumpspl-force-usb.nb", you can also try after cego to press and hold camera to enter tricolor bootloader mode
Also you can try this spl: SPL3.56-patch-nostuckinSPL-FORCEUSB.nb at step 9?
Just unzip it in your folder and use it.
when using the sspl0.92 it wont go out of the blackscreen (even holding camera button), and the same error message is shown on usb
when using the new spl3.56 the usually blinking green led stay orange after the cego command and the screen stay black, tried holding the camera button, to no effect in either "spls".
Same usb error on three spls...
The error states that the device is halted and is not handling usb functions anymore. The one that has the tricolor screen, should work, but some devices are not detecting the usb correctly. Therefore the usb force spl are created.
I'll try to find out how we can overcome this...
thank for your attention and taking your time to help me, hope you can find a solution, surelly you will help many kaiser owners that got many "bad blocks" in memory...
(shouldn`t ever have tried to put android on nand...)
keep me informed on any kind of progress and let me help you on testing.
Ok, try this one:
Remove and reinsert battery, then hold the send button and power on. Connect with MTTY (COMn) and this time enter "dload" to put phone in dload mode Continue with step 9.
Try SPL1.56-KAIS-unbricker.nb then or sspl-0.92-jumpspl-force-usb.nb
tried it, no letters under the: "Just be patient while I'm working ..."
believe the phone hunged up, will try again.
(also tried using the send button whenever turning the phone on in the steps 7 through 10, nothing different happened, I believe the jumpspl can only be loaded while in setboot 1 I`m thinking about trying to use "cego" without typing setboot 0 before...)
Phone will absolutelly lock if I dont enter setboot 1 in the step before typing dload,
frankenkaiser isn`t able to access it (no letters under te message to wait) and it locks after the frankenkaiser attempt (wont accept mtty commands), removing battery returns to "normal" (as in dead kaiser).

I have a Tab 2 7.0, and I have my IMEI Erased.
Tried every method found in the forums but no luck.
I found that QPST or NV_write method can get my IMEI back but I am unable to connect my tab to PC
when I switch my mode to modem from PDA in *#7284# and connect to my PC
My PC detects its as 7cds + comneon Suspend and failed to install the drivers.
I've Kies installed but no luck
Switched USB port but result is same
switched PC but same
tried my friend's tab (same like mine) with settings USB->Modem to see weather there is problem with my USB but again no drivers.... i. e. no probs with my tab
Tried This method
You need to swith UART and USB settings:
enter UART mode with *#9090# and select "Log via UART"
then
enter *#7284# and select "UART MODEM" and select "USB PDA".
Now Windows ask normal samsung drivers!

but i don't have the "log via UART" instide I have "log via USB" which upon selecting gives me an error ""LOG PATH SET FAIL".
and then on selecting Modem on Diag menu gives me the same responce...
note: I dont have the DM+MODEM+ADB but only modem or PDA option... I guess it said to be "mux menu" for us.. correct me if I am wrong
Please Help me...

[Q] USB BOS descriptor failed, "waiting for device", "Device cannot start. (Code 10)"

[Q] USB BOS descriptor failed, "waiting for device", "Device cannot start. (Code 10)"
Hello
The situation:
I'm trying to relock the bootloader and flash RUU, so that I can get rid of the tampered flag and start over.
I'm trying to use Hasoon2000's Toolkit to do this, but I'll try any method that sounds reasonable.
When I connect the HTC One S to the PC (running Windows 8) and select 'Mount as disk drive', the PC recognizes the device, and I can explore it. Using Hasoon's toolkit I select "Relock Bootloader" and click "Do Command". A first command prompt pops up, then my phone goes into fastboot, then I close the first prompt, then a second prompt follows and says "waiting for device".
I enter the Device Manager -> "Android USB Devices" -> "My HTC", -> Right click -> "Properties". In the Device Status field it says:
"This device cannot start. (Code 10) A request for the USB BOS descriptor failed."
EXTRA INFO:
I didn't use Hasoon's toolkit to unlock the bootloader, I actually used the platform-tools from the SKD bundle thru the terminal on a mac pc. Then I flashed CWM onto the One S using "./fastboot flash recovery recovery_thefilename.zip". Then I reloaded bootloader, selected Recovery, then my phone's screen went black, turned back on, and I saw the Red Triangle with the Exclamation mark. According to a "How to" blog, which I didn't read until after the fact, I was supposed to hold down the power button and volume button at that point in time, but I didn't. I had no idea what was going on. I pressed the power button and my phone restarted, and now every time I reboot to recovery mode, it just restarts the phone and says "This build is for development purposes only. Any redistribution will result in legal action." or something like that.
OK THAT'S ALL.
I appreciate any help!
jire
The text in red is normal if you have a custom recovery.
Just get the device in fastboot USB mode.
Check with command: fastboot devices
To see if it is connected. I should return you sn number.
(Since you manually unlocked, this should be easy for u.)
Then manually flash a correct recovery (or use the toolkit with the custom option). Reboot in recovery. Flash ROM.

Can you try to execute fastboot oem lock command on Windows OS which have hTC drivers installed? I guess that you using Linux OS now... Just install Windows in VM and hTC drivers, adb and fastboot you can download on htcdev.com or from android bundle package... I'm pretty sure that you have problem with your drivers...

USB 3.0 might be the issue
Hey guys, thanks for trying to help me out here, I appreciate it a bunch!
Before I go any further. I think I've learned what the problem is. Well, first of all, if you didn't catch it, I've been working thru this on both win and apple computers.
Hasoon's toolkit is only available for windows. Therefore, if I said/say I did something with his toolkit, that means I was using my win computer, which is actually a Surface Pro, which has USB 3.0 === THE PROBLEM
According to this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29286429
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to test this hypothesis, yet, because I first need to find a win pc with USB 2.0. [Fact: I couldn't get androidfiletransfer.app to recognize my htc one S on my mac. Coincidence?]
real187: When you say to install a "correct" recovery, are you implying I currently have an incorrect recovery on my phone?
mikronac: I have virtually no experience with command prompt. I just got my Surface Pro last week  and I'm geeking out...So, what I'm saying is I don't know how to do "fastboot oem lock command" ... The htc drivers are installed, up-to-date and operating without a hitch.
It can't be problematic your usb 3.0.
Please deinstall your phone drivers and install them again...
If you know how to navigate to platform tools folder in Windows Explorer, only what you need to do is to hold shift key on keyboard and right click on mouse and select option open command prompt here. Than you type :
Adb devices
Response should be serial number of phone
Adb reboot bootloader (uab debugging must be enabled)
When it reboot in fastboot, type in cmd:
Fastboot oem lock

I can confirm: It is USB 3.0
Hi, today I faced similar problem while trying to put my Sony Xperia S into fastboot. Only after finding this topic and switching from USB3.0 port to USB 2.0 did I manage to boot into fastboot. I have not tested, if I can boot into fastboot now, that the driver has been correctly installed via USB 2.0, but to avoid any troubles I suggest everyone to stick with USB2.0 for now.
I found this topic as I had the exact same error in Device Manager as OP in this topic.

I know it has been a long time but I just encountered the same problem with fastboot, an HTC One S and Windows 8.1. These steps from Microsoft (a registry edit workaround) enabled my computer to recognize the device and got fastboot seeing it too:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/usbcoreblog...8-0-but-fail-on-windows-8-1-with-code-43.aspx
I'll paste the workaround here in case Microsoft take the page down:
To apply the workaround for a specific device, add a REG_DWORD value named SkipBOSDescriptorQuery that has a value of 1 to the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\usbflags\vvvvpppprrrr
(where vvvv is the device's Vendor ID, pppp is the device's Product ID, and rrrr is the device's Revision number. You can get the VID/PID/REV numbers from the device manager's details tab. This number is encoded in the HardwareIDs of the device)
1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK .
2. Locate and then click the following subkey in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\UsbFlags
3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Key.
4.Type the name of the new key in the following form:
vvvvpppprrrr
where
vvvv is a 4-digit hexadecimal number that identifies the vendor (idDevice from the USB Deviceescriptor),
pppp is a 4-digit hexadecimal number that identifies the product (idVendor from the USB Device Descriptor)
rrrr is a 4-digit binary-coded decimal number that contains the revision number of the device
(bcdDevice from the USB Device Descriptor).
5. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD (32-bit) Value.
6. Type SkipBOSDescriptorQuery for the name of the DWORD Value, and then press ENTER.
7. Right-click SkipBOSDescriptorQuery, and then click Modify.
8. In the Value data box, type 1 , and then click OK.
9. Exit Registry Editor.
10. Unplug and re-plug the device for the workaround to take effect.

Problem is caused by Windows 8 and Windows 10. Just no compatibility for old hardware.. I'm disappointed from Microsoft Windows. Btw, I tried all methods in forums and in YouTube too (updating USB Root Hub drivers). Nothing helps, just "Failed device enumeration". Windows 10.. I will go back to Win7, fortunately I don't have license for 10.. Pray about these who has...
Bruh, this worked like magic on my HTC One X+ !!!
Using Windows 10 Enterprise Build 17134 by the way
Thanks a lot!
Thank you very much bro. HTC One V good working.

"error: no device/emulator found" in fastboot

As the title says.
I'm trying to unlock the bootloader on my XZs so I can root it.
My device is listed normally when turned on w/ the command window, but in fastboot mode it disappears and when I try a command, an error comes up saying ""error: no device/emulator found". (see attached image)
As far as I'm concerned, I have all the necessary drivers, I've tried on another PC, the result is always the same.
And when I try to change the drivers (Via Device Manager>Update Driver>Browse My Computer...>Let me pick...>Have Disk...)
I get yet another error saying "The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device..."
Can someone please give me a solution. This has been asked before on XDA by someone else (that thread has no replies). It seems it's always us little guys with actual problems which need solving who get little to no help at all here.
Reinstall driver again.
It doesn't work. The problem is I want to install the Google USB drivers for my Xperia phone but Windows 10 will not let me and driver signing seems to be impossible to disable (currently typing this on my laptop while it's in test mode).
1. Turn off your phone. Boot in to fastboot mode and plug the cable. After your heard the sound from the computer for new device found. Go to device manager look to usb S1 device. Reinstall driver by manual choose (do not search) from the menu with the name is Android Google. When prompt for install. Choose install anyway. After successful install driver, please check status from flashtool to make sure your device show connected in fastboot.
2. Change the usb port. Sometimes you get problem with usb port 2.0 and 3.0
Hope you can fix it asap.
Nothing by the name of 'Android Google' appears in the menu when selecting new drivers.
I clicked on 'S1boot Fastboot' under 'other devices' in Device Manager and clicked on update driver
>Browse Computer
>Let me pick
- and then there's something similar called 'Android Device' but no 'Android Google' so I click on that
- then I get three options:
Android ADB Interface Version 11.0.0.0
Android Bootloader Interface Version 11.0.0.0
Android Composite ADB Interface Version 11.0.0.0
None of them worked when I tried.
I think the solution is to have the phone on, with USB debugging enabled, connect via USB to PC, test your adb devices again, if all good, go ahead and
Rich (BB code):
adb reboot fastboot
This is because some phones use Fastbootd (notice the d..).
