Is there anyway to just have google nav running without having to type addresses? It should just follow you around and show you where you are and where you are going etc.
I don't always want to type a destination address.
there is a live wallpaper that is google maps that follows you
If u just open the maps app it Should just go to ur location until u ask for a search or something

I believe he's talking about having the Google Navigation screen (like if your using the turn-by-turn directions) up and running without a destination. No, that's not possible

There are lots. Be more specific if you want more specific apps.
If your a google man, then there's a perfect companion to Google maps. It's called My Tracks and made by Google (Yes, I expected it to be called Google Tracks too )
Careful on battery life though.

Instamapper - very plain but works and doesn't kill the battery.

Hi guys,
Last night my friends car broke down and he needed a ride from me. All was good until the directions he was giving me took me totally to the wrong location. He eventually got the address but he didn't know if it was north or south...so google maps didn't help me it took me the other way. Eventually I found him without the help of google. But my question is there an app that can get your location and text it so that the other person can use that in google maps to find you? I guess something like family locator but not for your family.
Thanks.
You can do this with Google maps. Push and hold to get your location, select it and you'll have the option to send your location. I had my fiance do this last week and navigation got me right to her location.

How can I save my contacts address with Google map link and use it directly through the contact information
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
When you 'star' a place, maps will give you an option to save it as a contact.
Yes that's right but it save it as a seperate contact and it just name the area not the exacted place with longitude

Well Google Maps isn't accurate enough to give you a specific address based on GPS fix. Google's Contacts have a field for postal address, which can't be mapped accurately by GPS/Google Maps. So there's really no field in Contacts that can be mapped to a location specifically.
The best thing to do is just type the address in.

You can 'Join' it to the contact you want or add it to existing contact. It won't do longitude but will point to the place when you click on it from within a contact.
Clever idea.but there era two problems the first I lost that address if I lost the internet connection for long time and the second that link is usabile for one time only. Thx for help.I am asking if there is a way to make the longitude as a link to Google maps. Thx again

What do you mean one time only? I can use a few I've saved. And how would you use maps without an internet connection, anyway?
Google is "updating" (downgrade ) its Android maps apps and is removing the facility to store maps within the handset for use when the phone is out of range of a phone signal.
Users can still preload some local areas into the phone by carrying out searches in advance while they still have a signal, but the move may cause concern to app developers who had relied on the facility for rural mapping services.
The company has also decided to close down its "foursquare-clone", Latitude and check-ins wont be part of the new Google Maps app, and will be retired from older versions on August 9. In order to drive more traffic to its Google+ service, they had added location sharing to that instead.
Away from what is being removed, the new Google Maps app had added in local area adverts, which will be displayed whenever a user tries to carry out a search within the maps app.
They are also adding in local area traffic disruptions in select cities for when users are making use of its built-in navigation service.

Offline maps are still there:

Google+ has a feature called "locations" that seems to do the location tracking.

But does it do real time tracking or does it only update when you "Check In"?
I use the My Maps app to store my waypoints and Google Maps to navigate on my Note 4. According to all of the info I've found to read online, I should be able to share this map with someone and they should be able to open it in either My Maps or the Google Maps app. I've sent this using the Share option and the invite option, and both only allow the other person to pull them up in the mobile Google Maps web page.
There is a way to share maps, as there is a tab at the top of the app that shows maps shared with you, but man, I can't figure out how to do it. Do you guys know something I missed?
