battery standby time problem "high power drain" - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

First post by me.
I have encountered while using my hd2 a high standby power consumption. After a soft reset the standby consumption was 2-5 mah, but after using the
following programs:
coreplayer
gprofile(remove this app it consumes a lot of battery during standby)
using the wifi and turning it off
BTTrayCE found at the startup folder. (this is needed to operate the bluetooth)
i think all of this and some other programs have memory leaks because if you close them or kill their processes the ram is not changed to the original point when you start the device which for me is 180mb+. It will consume 20mb of flash even after closing.
i have encountered a massive increase in power consumption. Now the battery usage is about 11-37 mah or even more up to 50 mah during standby. This problem sucks out the power of your phone. this reduces standby time to 90-27 hours from 250 hours that sucks.
My Temporary solution for this is to soft reset your phone after using this programs it will restore the power consumption to 2-5 mah.
Clear ram doesn't solve this problem, it doesn't restore the ram to the initial state and the power drain is still high.
my startup apps are:
Arkswitch
Galarm Reload
WifiNoStandby
I'm using Battlog or Battery.exe to monitor the power consumption and RescoExplorer to remove things at the startup folder.
i hope someone will find the solution for this because it is annoying to soft reset your phone every time you finished using it.

I also have this issue with my leo. G-Profile was the culprit.
I know, some users get some troubles with G-Alarm too. It's making a lot of bettery drain.
Why do you have coreplayer in the startup
Maybe your GSM/DATA location may give you some troubles too, phone is allways looking for cell towers.
2~5 mAh is quite normal. 50mAh is a bit too much.
There"s a lot of thread about HD2 battery drain.
You can use BattClock to see immediatly your battery state. very useful...

My advice to you, if you haven't already, is to Download a custom ROM to enable 576 Megs of RAM. And download a decent task manager like Arkswitch so you can manually kill processes. And thirdly, buy a spare battery! It's an absolute essential. I have a programme that monitors in coming and outgoing data & Resco Contacts working away in the background and it doesn't really make much difference to my battery life.
*Edit* Also get RAMCleaner if you don't already use it, it'll free up that leaked memory for you. Not that you really have much to worry about if you have 576Mb enabled.

Guys can you tell me what app you used to measure power consumption in mAh? In Nokia N82 i hat Energy profiler, but i don't saw anything similar for WinMo...

you have to go into the settings and add battery current

I have this only at girlfriend's place. wipes my battery overnight. Must be Myphone trying to sync over gsm and the other data things.
It's patchy - swinging from H to E to G and sucking 60% in 9hours.....at home with full H it sips about 7% overnight (12hours idle), even with bluetooth on.

I don't have coreplayer in startup after you close it causes the battery in standby to drain higher than normal.

as i read in the development forum, the 576 mb is just a trick. you don't really get physically 576 mb ram. the chiefs there say with this hack you can get whatever amount of ram you like, e.g. 2.048mb.

The user is concerned about battery life..so certainly NRG rom would be one of his last choices..
Try Upgrading to a more recent radio rom first i would suggest..no data will be lost during this.

my current radio is 2.06.51.07, i have updated my phone with the official rom from the main site of htc. i have heard 2.07 but i do not know where to download this update.

Turning 3G and Windows Hotmail push sync off was a winner for me. Now drainage is gone.

Huge powerdrain Faria WM 6 WWE

Since two days I'm having a huge power drain on the faria WM6 WWE os. Anybody else having the same problem. I already edited my reg (HKLM/Drivers/SDCARD/ClientDrivers/Class/SDMemory_Class/DisablePowerManagement change this value to 0.) but it won't help.
power drain is losing approximate 5% of battery within one hour...
Never I had this problem with all the others WM6 os versions (until now). And this is bad because I love the faria os versions. Theire good, fast and stable.
i have noticed the same thing, i thought it was something extra i installed but most of the wm6 roms i have tried are battery hungry, i wonder why? if my phone is 100% and i dont make any calls 2 hrs later i go to use it and its at 75%
mun_us rom is wm6 and the battery has never lasted so long since i had it
when i first flashed the rom it installed this cab file straight away with others i have attached it maybe thats whats helping out my battry life
Save That Power
Open up Batery Status by Clicking and Holding the icon for it on the home screen. Tweak the OMAP settings. Set the over clock to or around 260. Then turn the scaler on. set this to the original cpu Speed. That should help. Worked for me.

I had noticed the same with this ROM and tried to enable the scaler. It had no impact. I moved back to mun_rus which as easymob says is much kinder on the battery.
It would be useful if some could confirm his thoughts on this.
I notice that my battery will drain faster when I am using my EDGE connection for internet or streaming purposes, but for anything else the battery seems to last much longer (sitting idle or simple phone calls)...

It activates power management for you sd card.
The default setting is off wich means you sd card is running at full power thus draining your battery faster.
With the setting on, power is only consumed when you're actually using the sd card therefore saving your battery.
I used the CPUScaler from BatteryStatusTool which is in rom. Setting it to 121mhz, so battery last for a long time. in standby the cpu dont needs so much frequency, even with programs like im+ in the background.

Infrared modules are very efficient in recent devices so should cause very little battery drain at all. I remember a report someone did using their Axim on Aximsite.com and they reported that with IR off the overall extra operating time bonus was less than a minute.
No Probs with MB WM6
I had battery issues with other WM6 roms, but don't have that issue with MB WM6 rom. Not sure what is different.
Try putting your pda near a bunch of IR devices, and watch your pda get battery drained!

Today al of a sudden my battery started draining rapidly. I have the Faria now for a week & was very happy with it. But now my power drops extreme fast. I have nothing new installed. I enabled the powersaving for SD, but that doesn't help. Wondering what's causing this all of a sudden drain.

Well that's pretty obvious, I meant when the unit is in standby because generally the Wizard isn't going to be near/communicating with IR devices. In standby it is very efficient like most things compared to being powered up. Also I just got Noviiremote coincidentally and I found that the IR module was pretty weak, especially compared to my old Axim, I have to be very close to use it. If its weak then its probably not using much power so I would say IR, unless being surrounded by IR devices a lot is of insignificant drain to the battery.
I also had the powerdrain issue with the Faria rom; but when I deleted the SC.lnk and javapushservice.lnk with the StartUp Manager it seems I lost the powerdrain issue.
I disconnected my phone at 7am this morning and now it's almost 11am and I lost 3% with use of Pushmail, Internet GPRS and 2 phonecalls.

What does these two do? especially SC.lnk? - Sorry. I got the ans. Thanks anyways. I will test and let the forum know.
SC.lnk is the shortcut to rotate the screen; that one should probably have no effect.
The javapushservice.lnk starts the elatepushservice; I assume that one consumes the power

Hi,
Things that improve battery life:
- Drain the battery COMPLETELY until the phones shuts off and recharge the battery with the phone turned off. Do this 3 times. Improves battery life extremely.
- Disable repplog.exe in the notification queue with the comment "system time changed" using memmaid or similar tool (don't do this when you sync with an Exchange server OTA)
- Use advance config and enable all the options under "energy"
These are the 3 things I found in the forum that really work for me

BeeJive IM is a seriously intensive IM product that drains my battery very very quickly. I would suggest using Palringo. www.palringo.com It's not as pretty as BeeJive but your battery life with signifigantly improve.
I would also try using different radio's. Radios can help you improve battery life / signal strenth, etc. Test out all of the Raphael radios and available and see which ones works best for you.

I have tested the theory with draining the battery 3 times to it's complete and utter demise before charging. I found that doing it once worked best for me. Since Lithium Ion batteries do not have memory such as Nickel Metal Hydrate. I have found however that if my battery is acting funny to fully let it die then charge it up completely that it will return to it's normal self.
I have done a lot reseach on Lithium Ion batteries and found it's best to keep your device charged as much as it can and not let me battery get below 30% or 20% at the most before re-charging it. When I do this I get the best battery life as possible and my battery seems to last a lot longer in regards to the longevity of the battery as a whole.
battery bar defect
hello my name is laura and i have the htc touch pro i treid i couple of tweaks to expand my battery life and now my battery bar does not work it does not go emty i suddenly get i message that my head battery is very low and i have to recharge but my bar is completly full i removed the tweaks but it is still not working help

[Q] How can you make the battery last longer??

Is there a tweak out there that stops the stupid battery from guzzling? Im tired of charing it constantly and I swear it takes hours and hours to charge it back to full power. The thing cant last longer than a day without loosing power I cant stand it. Whats making it use all that power? I thought maybe if I switch wireless it would help but I didnt notice a difference.
I can get 2 days out of my battery.
I let it drain to 1% and then stick it on charge over night. When i get up the battery will be at 100% and then 30 minutes later down to 90% but it settles down after that.
I do not have wifi and bluetooth on all the time, just when I need to.

If I build rom myself from the kitchen. It usually runs for 2-3 days.
However, in most cases when I try decent cooked ROM, for example, Energy - battery drains in about 5 hours. That's been the case with other cooked roms as well.
I suspect that some popular configuration change done by cooks causes battery to drain in certain environments. Would be nice to find out which change is that.
Processes and services often place a strain on the life of the battery; add to the mix a buggy service or application that further shortens battery life and one has an unusable device.
Another habit that can shorten Li-ON battery life is full discharges - near 0%. One of the members put out a thread a while back on research he/she had done on batteries - worth the read if you haven't already.
Cheers,

I just had the same experience, cooked for the first time and my battery was better than it has ever been!
Since then I have flashed to RRE 21731 6.3 and it seems my battery has stayed the same (Brilliant, 2 Days no problem).
The only thing ive done differently is I have used the new UK Voda rom as my Stock Rom that i flash before flashing custom, and i believe this may have something to do with it...What, I don't Know.
I also believe changing the Radio After a flash can affect battery life, I always try to flash a new radio before a Custom rom.
I have wondered for some time wether the European Touch Pro is slightly different to the US Fuze in its hardware, Since most Cooked Roms are configured for the Fuze maybe that is what it is?
maybe we will find out..One Day
turn off 3G and you will get much better battery.

That will ****-up your battery, you should never let it drain to 1%, just charge it when you have the time, preferably before it drains to about 20%.
I guess it all depends on the eye of the beholder, I come from the Diamond part of XDA, and we are lucky to get 24 hours on the Diam.
I was happpyyyyy with my new TP battery life -compared to Diam that is-
But ya, turning of 3g and being picky about processes and back light helps.
Greets to all.
Search the development and Hacking thread for Windows Long Life/save your gonads. Chainfire is developing a neat application to automatically switch from 3G when not needed. I tried an early version and it seemed to significantly increase my battery life.
Check my sig....it tells you how to deal with Li-ion batteries...
battery stuff on my site
Check out chapter 17. I cover this pretty thoroughly.

An app that may help is Advanced Task manager, it has a widget to end all running processes/tasks which i tap before putting mine to sleep about 1000+ times a day it seems. go in and exclude ones you may want to exclude always and then its as simple as 1 click. as everyone else said, no gps,wifi,3g when not 100% necessary. also, get widget "toggle disply" from rounded labs and keep your screen completely dim (not like you can't see it...), being able to make it bright when you step outdoors. Also, toggle backlight app for root users keeps the pesky keyboard backlight off when you don't want it on (suggest making keyboard shortcut for quick toggle). last but not least because i'm sure theres plenty more, but yesterday i switched to cyanogen's newest stable ROM and it seems to be much more effective than any other i have tried in the means of saving battery life. had wifi on after a 98% charge for about an hour and a half (30mn usage) and it only went down to 91%... wow. Firstly I don't think this is the right sub-forum for this question since it's not a specific ROM question.
Secondly, try nueDynamicClock, if you use the right settings, you'll extend your batt life by at least 1/2 a day if not more.

It's really very simple. Flash an awesome rom, and the battery burns and burns. Flash a rom you hate, and the battery lasts forever. Don't over-think it.
hi guys.
i was eager to start up this discussion and am glad to find it here itself.
even am really finiky about battery.
tried alot of thing but cudnt find any spcl tweaks.
though i came across some registries from advanced config and other wise also but they seem to be more worse.
;IMPROVE BATTERY PERFORMANCE
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\AsyncMac1\Parms]
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:0
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Irsir1\Parms]
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:0
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\PPTP1\Parms]
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:0
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\L2TP1\Parms]
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:0
when i use these tweaks the power consumption of my rom reached to 4.112 volts(as per power detect) which otherwise without these tweaks is 3.992 at startup.
more power consumption i guess means less battery i guess.
and even if its not still these tweaks as per my usage show bad results.
why so?
and arnt there spcl application which can detect the packages which might consume more battery, as i have over 50 packages in my rom and it'll hell to check which eats more.
Some tweaks I do
I have also found for me that disabling these things in advanced config also helps.
Performances
> File System cache: Disabled
> File System filter cache: Disabled
> Glyph Cache: 32kb (advised) I'm not sure if disabling this one is a good idea. I like having a little bit of glyph cache on my device.
Light senor
> Light sensor polling: Disabled.
*Note: If you want to still have light sensor on (this means the auto backlight feature) I would set the:
> Light sensor polling interval: 2000. This will make it poll every 2 seconds instead of every .2 seconds. I would even try setting it to 5000.
The backlight will make a huge difference on how long you battery will last. The brighter it is the more the battery needs to light up that screen. If you turn off the polling all together it will make the battery last longer.
Also running fancy UI apps will also deplete the battery more. Just common sense really as another poster alluded to earlier. The more things you have running and sucking up memory the more battery it will consume. If you disable TF3D or other apps such as this you will get your battery to last longer. Given that these devices are meant to have these types of programs on them you will have to weigh the options of how much you really want to "tone down" your devices to get the most out of your battery.
Also different radios will cause you battery to last longer. I suggest to everybody that they try different radios to see which ones last longer. Also people who live on the edge of 3G and EDGE area will cause the battery to drain faster as it constantly switches in and out of 3G coverage.
WMLongLife is a great app if you don't need 3G while you phone is just sitting in you pocket. It works great for me and when I want to use 3G I simply launch opera and the program will automatically enable 3G once again.
There are many things that you can do to improve your battery life. I encourage everybody to find what is best for them given what they use there device for and try and test things out. The best way to tell which works best for you is to simply try it out for yourself.
**NOTE** I also set all ROMs that I flash with a page pool of 0. I don't know if this has any real effect on battery life but it does seem to make my battery last a little bit longer. Not sure if this is a placebo affect though.

Unique Battery Problems

Hi guys,
Here's one for you!
After I performed the widely reported HTC Desire battery calibration on my HTC Desire S I was easily getting about 40hours usage from it. I was extremely impressed by its long battery life.
However in recent days I have been getting just a fraction of this. Perhaps 15hours at most. My usage hasn't increased or decreased and I'm struggling to find an explanation as to why the battery life has been slashed. I recalibrated and still no improvement.
Can anybody shed some light please!?

Can anybody shed some light please!?

You need to run some battery monitoring tools to see whats actually eating the battery.
I'd recommend battery monitor widget this should show the amount of battery being eaten at a given time and record history, so you can determine if its a rouge application or a duff battery?!
After you install it it change Settings->Monitoring->Battery Capacity to the correct value of 1450.
Try to think about what applications you may have installed around the time the consumption changed or if you have recently added new accounts to sync.
Indeed you need a battery monitoring tool to see exactly what is going on but for me I noticed that running a GPS application and after that stoping GPS module never release completly the resources and the battery is discharging faster.
All indications shows there are no GPS connections and the module is off but the battery discharge at 2x speed than usual. I had to restart the phone and the problem is solved until the next time I start any GPS app (Navigon , iGO ..).
I use stock ROM.
You could also try, where is my android power.
It's an app that shows you which app consume how many % of battery.
Maybe the problem is related to an app you downloaded lately
Thank you for all your comments so far guys. Unfortunately I am no closer to finding out what has started to dissolve my battery.
I have done a factory reset today to rule out any rogue app causing problems.
Just seems odd that I can go from getting 36-40 hours usage down to about 15 without dramatically increasing my time spent using the phone.

How to increase battery life?

I removed many programs with ROOT UNINSTALER, i have acura rom v5 ginger, but battery is like crap. not better. im always fighting with battery life.

Calibration doesn't improve battery life, it just increases the accuracy of the battery %age detection.
Check Use only 2G networks if you don't have a data plan.
I would suggest getting another battery on ebay, they cost around $3 and are almost as good as stock ones.
At least here in Brazil, with the p920H optimus 3d, there's a thing u can do that improve battery a lot.
Root your phone and remove Remote Call. This program dont let the phone sleep and consumes like 50% of the battery from my tests.
RemoteCall_input.apk
RemoteCall_srn.apk
RemoteCall_starter.apk
RemoteCall_ui.apk
RemoteCall_uinput.apk
what is remotecall?

I used it with the leaked 21A install.
My opinion
for my ...works
setting date and time automatic disable
accounts and sync background data disable
mobile newtork setting use only 2 g newtorks and disable data
I can't find this remotecall program in my system files I searched all folders with root explorer. But I have the program installed. Weird.
