What a joke! Supposedly, the ROM that's gonna render every other Eclair ROM obsolete is available for download at openeclair.com, but ONLY AFTER you "complete a survey." Of course by survey they mean sign up for a bunch of spam, apply for credit cards, and subscribe to bs services that will charge your credit card repeatedly until you close your account.
I DID try. I went for the insurance quote - twice. Suffice it to say, I was never allowed to download any vaporware.
Don't waste your time. Get your legitimate ROM's here.

i know this isnt development but i think it should be here, most trending sub forum
Note that the REAL OpenEclair project which was started by myself and Wes Garner is pretty much done with, now that just about everything in OpenEclair has been merged in with cyanogen for CM5.0.7-DS.
This guy, dostra, picked up openeclair.com a long time ago and has been making attempts like this frequently. We actually got the site shutdown for a while, but it looks like he has since moved hosts.

Taken down was a snap..... back to biz...
That's not the official website. www DOT openeclair DOT org is . As you can see, OpenEclair v2.0 has yet to be officially released.
OpenEclair 2.0 WILL NOT be released... its basically been merged with CM5... ctso and Wes have moved on so anything pretending to be OpenEclair past 1.3.1 i believe is FRAUD!! I suggest DL'ng CM 5 for dream/sapphire if u want to keep supporting the OE devs (as i do) or (shameless plug inserted next) if ur wild and wanna try sumn crazy u can flash my CR_Slide2G1 or CR_FroYo2G1... happy flashing folks and big shouts to Chris and Wes... Can you talk to cyanogen to get the reboot options from OE merged with his stable? I remember that in OE 1.3.0.1 when I held power and clicked reboot, it gave me the option to reboot normally, reboot recovery, and reboot fastboot. I miss that being integrated and am using quickboot atm.
I tried to leave a comment on his 2.0 release. Instead of deleting my post, he changed it to say "Good job. Keep up the good work!" pretty much the opposite of what I typed in. Super douche!
Was a fun exercise to download that thing...it des have a different checksum then CM5 maybe because it's modded or a byte switched i don't know.
Helps to deaktivate javascript and click the downloadlink (with chrome it worked best) with the right mousebutton to klick "save link"

[06 July] XdaBugs - A Formal Introduction
Does your ROM play up?
Annoyed that those lazy developers are doing nothing?
Your complaints getting lost in all the n00b questions?
Well look no further - XdaBugs is your answer!!
What is XdaBugs?
XdaBugs is a Bug Tracking system that is designed for the multiple devices, roms and problems that mobile devices suffer. Using our unpatented technology, you can place a bug report using a structured form that allows developers to quickly decipher the problems and users to add comments and additional info
But, doesn't that replace these forums?
No.
XdaBugs is designed to compliment the Xda-Developers forums. XdaBugs is made with being clear and concise in mind, hence all comments\bugs are moderated and anything posted to the site needs to stay on topic.
So, how do I get started?
First goto: http://xdabugs.vidmes.com
Then, have a look around the site - you can even see bugs and comments without logging in!
A good place to start is the Help\FAQ page. Alternatively, clicking on every link in the sidebar also works...
Once your used to the layout and the site, goto the Register page and sign up
Now start spreading the bugs!! (That sounds like a good slogan... then again...)
Side Note: I'm a Developer, and my ROM is currently on the site, what should I do?
Sign up to the site then PM me on Xda-Developers requesting developer privileges
From there, remember to check on all of your bugs for your ROM, and edit the rom and bugs as you see neccesary
Side Note: I want to help out by being an Admin!
Great! Now go away!
But seriously, if you really want to help, then PM me requesting admin privileges and argue your case. If its decent, I'll grant you privileges.
[?? June] Original Post
The new Xda Bugtracker I have been working on has now been finalised (or at least in a Beta) - so its ready for use!
Just goto http://xdabugs.vidmes.com and check it out
NOTE:
It is still a little buggy, but I'm working on that
It IS NOT a forum - so bugs\comments will be heavily moderated
If you need developer\admin privleges, then PM me
Also PM or email me any bugs that you find
Enjoy!
(Also, all data from the Alpha version's database has been wiped - so you may need to re-register...)

Actually, I added most of the ROMs that are currently there - just to show some examples\get things started
Either way - Enjoy!
A Note to Developers:
You do actually need to edit your bugs and add\remove comments - thats the whole point of a bug tracking system, however I'm still seeing a lot of "unverified" bugs...
There isn't a big contribution to bug tracker.... i don't understand why guys don't participate to that !
is it still on?

New Version! (0.02.7b)
Includes
Minor bug fixes
Bugs now show the date of their latest comment
Date of latest comment is highlighted if it is new (compared to your lst logout)
A reminder for Developers
Please ensure that only your latest version is on the Xda Bugs site
Deprecate old versions (you can do this by editing them)
The site is supposed to be heavily moderated, so remove\edit comments as needed
Remember to update the status of bug (you can do this by editing them)
PM me if you need Developer permissions!
I like the idea of a bug tracker, but i believe i can say why it's not so much used.
1) UI is not intuitive. Bugs must be listed in table format with Title, Rom version, severity, reproducability etc etc in one list, searchable between roms and more.
2) The first thing you're faced with when you go to the site is a login prompt. First page must be the bug list, and you're not asked for login until you want to submit a new bug.
Not trying to all-knowing or anything, just giving constructive suggestions, i can even help out if nobody are up to it.

It was a DNS issue, so it may take a day or two to propogate. Alternatively, you can bring up the "Run" box in windows (Start->Run...) and type in "ipconfig /flushdns" then hit "Ok" - this should clear your DNS Cache
Developers: Please read this!
Host your ROMs, Themes and everything else
No more searching for free hosting space to place your ROMs with limited download speeds and 60 second waiting periods for downloaders.
7/23/2011
We have been hard at work creating better tools for you developers to manage your releases on Community Release.
Along with the new site release we just made, you now have the following features:
Browser based File Manager and/or FTP Access to your Files.
Dedicated Forum area with Full moderation rights.
Full release access to the Community Release Database.
A FREE central repository for the Android Community with FREE, Unlimited bandwidth File Hosting.
We are constantly working on the site and some of the functionality we are developing is:
Each developer NOW HAS their own section in our forums where you can post all the info about your ROMs.
You will also have ROM upload space (no more searching for free accounts) and your ROM files will be tied to the database so people can download them directly and not have to switch between the ROM database and XDA or whatever else.
You will have full access to anything related to your ROMs so you can keep the info up to date.
We will provide any RSS / XML streams for other people to use for almost anything. So if you want to write a single ROM update program for the Android Phones, you can write the app and take the latest info directly from the ROM database. This will mean that the data will always be the latest info from a common location as long as we can get your support.
You’d be able to see how many times you’re ROM has been downloaded and how the community rates it. It’s up to the you and the community to let us know what you want from the system.
As users, you can register in the system and then follow:
Releases
Devices
Developers
Rate the releases you like so other know if they are good or not.
Soon you wil be able to leave comments with your ratings too
We want to do this right. We want to build something that the community will really use.
This is just the start of things to come but we need need your input!!!
What do you want to see?
What will help you get your ROMs, Themes, Applications and more out to the community quickly and easily?
Please contact me at [email protected] with your contact information and include the information listed below (or as much as you feel comfortable sharing) and any thoughts and suggestions no matter how wild they may seem. We'll consider anything.
I'm setting up profiles for everyone for developer accounts that would include:
Full Name
Email Address
Nick Name
Location (or at least time zone)
Twitter Account
Blog Page
Home page
A brief description about yourself and what you develop
That should do for now.
Thanks again.

The more info I can get, the better.
A couple of corrections:
1. Haykuro's 5.0.x builds (both H and G) are based on Android 1.5, not 1.1.
2. Haykuro's 5.0.xH builds do indeed do Google sync, there's just no way to configure it.
What do S and E mean? Standard and ?
all the builds are 1.5cupcake

Dude's Cupcake supports A2SD.
It been a couple of weeks since i started the Cyanogen Updater - which made it to market in less than 24 hours. It was on everybody's TODO list and it just took one thread being opened to get it done.
Lets try and pull off another miracle....
LETS GIVE ANDROID REAL OBEX SUPPORT
Thanks to the openOBEX guys we have a command line tool to do the job - but that ain't quite good enough.
The average user doesn't want to have to type - thats barbaric in this day and age (personally i love it, but i am a little bit weird)
We have something to build on - it is already integrated in to cyanogens roms
We have two real options - include the required tools or just make the gui access the tools - either way, it can be done.
Yes, there is already Bluex... But why should we pay for something that the phone should already have???

i will hellp you out a little bit with bugfiuxes and so but my primary thing is the updater
im fairly new to the whole android and dont know much but im willing to test. ive been testing CM roms since he started coming out with them.
This should be pretty simple, in theory anyway. All we technically have to do is have something that browses thru the filesystem (think SUFBS), and then when you click a file initiate the shell commands necessary or openobex. For recieving there could be a seperate tab at the bottom that when you switched to it it would open the socket to receive a file.
Art guy - reporting in!
Will lend my support whenever possible. As always, great to see more community oriented efforts like this. Once you guys get the app to a working point, I'll be happy to do some artwork for it like the CM Updater thread. Hopefully we can do this again fast.
great to have you on board again prash
i was hoping u n matt would find this thread
anyone who wants added to the google code administrator list - let me know and it shall be done
GOD bless you ALL!!
im sure when cyanogen sees this HE will bless us
im realloy glad to see another project, especially one as useful as this!
thanks....
all we need is some half-decent coders and we will be all set
it is theoretically very simple....but with time it will become more and more complex with extra features hopefully
Im going to jump right in and be THAT guy ... what is open obex?
OBEX=OBject EXchange=how protocol used when sending via bluetooth ot infrared
Open=open source=anyone can use the code with no copyright issues
OpenOBEX=2+2
This will be VERY interesting to follow, this is definately the only feature missing from android, and with prash doing graphics.... its gonna look good for sure (@ prash, using systemforce3... tried new dark hero, 3 hours later I was back to sf3... love the clock ) back on topic... if the knowledge of the coders here is anything to go by, I recon obex will be done by CM4.0.3

There is a aplication from the market called andrOBEX, and i think that app cover this.
Go to www.androbex.com and see if it is true, or try to work with the author to make it better.
If i'm wrong, count me in to help.
Does openobex support viewing directories and files which someone else is sharing and/or selecting your own directories for others to browse? I havent tried bluex but the description for that doesnt say whether it does or not, I dont know if that is based on openobex anyway though.
Would really like to see the development for this like the cyanogen updater, wish I could do something to help besides test.
i had no idea androbex existed - il look into it
this thread may be redundant....
Androbex doesn't appear to be able to receive files. Getting obexftp or something similar running shouldn't be hard. It just needs to be secure.

Bluex can recieve with root access.
Update: At the request of flipz, this will not be released until his public release. Sorry.
Hello everyone, I'm happy to announce that I've created a 2.1 ROM!
This ROM is based on Fresh 2.0, only I didn't like the fresh stuff, so I removed that .
Thanks to deca, flipz, toast, gbphil, and tjaero. Without you, I wouldn't know where this ROM would be.
Practically EVERYTHING works in this 2.1 ROM, including:
Camera (camera recording doesn't work)
Bluetooth
MMS
and practically everything else, but most importantly:
it has the... .29 KERNEL
I also made a lot of my own modifications to it:
Mods:
Added stock Android keyboard, htc keyboard still there though. (Please test, not sure if it works)
Added ES file manager
Added Wired tether
Flash player 10 (NOT LITE, 10!) installed
Added Sprint Navigation (didn't put in Sprint TV; it doesn't work on 2.1)
Added launcher2.apk (needs testing however, not sure if/how it will work)
Removed bootsound
General optimization
Known bugs/missing features:
Google prompts you to sign in every boot (think of it as a 'security feature' )
No camera recording for a odd reason
No visual voicemail
Trackball light lights up at random for some reason
Download links:
At the request of flipz, I will wait until his public release of his ROM before this is released.
He released his, so I think it's okay to release mine. This is a test release, not fully done. I think I'm going to wait until the offical HTC release to release the final version.
Once again, this is just a TEST RELEASE:
Also, please restart as soon as it boots, or you'll get a bunch of FC's

You are MORE than welcome to work off of it. People love variations. All I ask is that you wait a couple days until I release to the public. I'm not trying to stifle creativity. Android is open and people are free to work off of it. I can't/won't stop you. But I do request that you wait.
yeah screw this. ur an ass.
another thing would be that u say u stripped out fliz's work but the fact is he themed and ported the whole thing. every colored icon in it is his work. so what did u take out to make it urs?!
Glad your holding off on the release.
well thanks for the build up. I was really looking forward to this. I also do not like the fresh stuff so i will not donate to have to customize flipz rom. I thought you developers were about open source and helping this community. Not trying to make money off your work

Thanks for being so polite, I'm sorry for this, won't happen again.
I have to say, I kind of agree with toast here. There are too many ROM's popping up based off of what I would call "breakthrough" ROM's... ie. a ROM that has added a new feature or has a major speed increase, something along those lines. I think what would help this situation of people releasing ROM's based on what they like would be to make a thread that shows how to customize your own ROM (removing/adding files, etc.), and then people wouldn't need to download ROM's that are based off other peoples work but have a few things removed or added. Look at the Pancake 0.1 thread... SO MANY PEOPLE requested versions of the ROM with things added or removed, and there ended up being atleast 5 versions of it. Seriously people, either learn how to work with Android or don't complain.
haha yeah, we need some sort of criteria before people can just start slappin "[ROM]" all willy nilly on their thread titles
Love EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!
So you are a rom modder/dev and you want to have real stats about your rom? Not sure?
You probably have those question unanswered right now:
how many users installed and are using your rom?
which versions of your rom are your users running?
people stop using your rom, what rom do they install to replace yours?
what is your share of the market, compared to other devs?
where are your users from?
and so on...
Imagine getting graphs, pie charts,.. with all those data? Would be awesome, right?
To start gathering data that I've prepared a small app, RomStats (see note (1)). It's meant to be installed by modders & rom devs into their roms, any rom!
When installed in a rom, the app will show a notification in the notif bar after the first boot (right after installing the rom) asking the user to participate in stats.
After the user agree, some ANONYMOUS data are send to a database online.
At the moment, the app is done, the database to collect is done. What is still pending is to develop the stats reporting pages (the most interesting part of it).
So, if you are a dev, and are interested in that, show you interest here, and install the app in your roms so data start to be collected.
I hope people see the potential behind this, and start to implement it in their roms. I'll probably need some help from web developers & reporting-skilled guys :-D.
At the moment, as a proof of concept, you can go to this page. there is almost no stats, just a counter how much unique devices (phones), devs, phones model... are registred in the database. I'll continue enhancing the type of information presented to the visitor. We could also imagine creating some private sections for devs :-D!
How to install the app in your roms: (it SHOULD be done by the rom's dev! not by every user):
Download the apk (latest version in now in the Market): com.adlx.stats.apk (direct link)
Place the apk in /system/app (in your update.zip)
Add those 3 lines to /system/build.prop, changing the value to reflect your dev nickname, your rom's name and your rom version:
ro.stats.devname=Adlx
ro.stats.romname=Adlxmod
ro.stats.romversion=3.0.0.2
And that's it!
I would love many devs consider participating, so of course, feel free to re-distribute RomStats with your next rom or next patch (don't forget to configure the 3 lines in build.prop, or it won't gather correctly your info).
I repeat, if I see people interest and I see data actually getting collected everyday from several roms, devices,... then I'll continue the project. Any help is welcome of course!
What data are collected:
* A unique identifier of the device
* Identifier of the device model
* The nickname of the rom's dev
* The name of the rom (without version or model information)
* The rom version number, preferably a.b[.c[.d]]
* Information of the carrier (name, ID)
* From which country is the device (given by the carrier)
The data are ANONYMOUS (regarding the identifier of the device, it's taken from an Android API call, then hash using md5, so it can't be reversed).
Here is an interesting article by Chris Soyars explaining more about how the stats work, and why users should participate: http://www.cyanogenmod.com/blog/cmstats-what-it-is-and-why-you-should-opt-in.
Notes & Credits:
(1) RomStats is based on CMStats from Cyanogenmod, by Chris Soyars (Apache licensed). For the moment I have slighly modified it to be able to work with any rom, and send the data to another site.
sound like a good idea, I hope devs will support this.
Sounds good!
thank's a lot, i put your apk in my last rom!

Awesome. I'll try to enhance asap the stats that are shown.
Next week I'll be on holidays, so I will probably not be able to do much, but when I come back I'll continue.

I believe it's a win-win for users and devs, the more people collaborate, the more data get collected, the better get the stats.

Updated app (same link in the OP) to 1.0.5.
Added screenshots to the OP.
Thanks for app
+1 in my rom => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1040144
Suggest:
edit in build.prop
Code:
ro.product.device=Motorola Defy MB525
to have unique devices instead umts_jordan, etc etc
Good.
I'll put these app on my ROM.
Wow only a few hours after I cooked this baby in to thunderstickGB website down. That sucks, oh well...
Thanks for all the work on this. definitely worth it.
is this app open source? can anyone see the source code? I like the idea, I am not a dev but as a user, I would allow the app to run in order to participate in the stats (I already did it when I used CM7), however, someone could think is too dangerous to have an app like that running in every custom ROM. But if everyone can check the source code, it would be more transparent.
Hope don't take for bad my comment.

YEah, sorry about the downtime. It definitely took long time. Yet it wasn't my fault. I'm relying on a free hosting platform. They perform quite great anyway (especiallly when you remember it's free).
RomStats site is now up again.
Regarding your stats, don't fear, you will not loose the count of your installs because of the downtime. Next time the device will chackin it will appear :-D.
Welcome aboard and thanks for using RomStats
Bump for an awesome idea
Sent from my ThunderStick via a bolt of lightning.
I will try it in ny next MS2Ginger Build.
Hello,
I am thinking ofputting this'll in my next Rom.
is there anyway to impliment bug crashes/reports.
or a page where we can see our own rom stats like country my users are in?
It only currently shows how many users.
Thanks
A quick bump, just to say that RomStats have hit the 25k Unique devices mark!
Interface has been enhanced, with possibility to filters data simply by clicking on the charts.

For a developer trying to see these stats,
It shows, when it even works, very little.
anyway to improve this?
I have never been able to view my rom stats.
it always looks like the pics below.
I'm sorry to say, but if i can't view them, why use this app?
Yes, build.prop is correct.
Am I missing something obvious?

The problem is I'm using Google Chart Tools, which are not yet compatible with Mobile device... which is weird coming from Google.
So, unfortunately, you need to go from a computer, but it works, and it's now much faster than before! I optimized a bit the DB to get faster response to queries also.

I'm very sorry to hear that. Been with you for awhile.
Is there any way I can get a copy of my last stats? (Before the project went dead)
At anyrate, thank you for your wonderful creation.
