u can install .cab files like .exe setup files on ur computer
just go to settings > connections > Usb and set mass storage mode , load the stuff u wanna have on ur memory card , and find them in ur file explorer and click them
just think of it as a computer ... u might wanna also try out the free total commander pocket program , u can change to single click operation in the settings > about menu

Cab file downloadng?

Firstly apologies for the noob question, I'm still very new to this WinMo stuff. And secondly I've searched about the forum all day but still having problems....
I've just got an HD2 and wanting to put some of the tweaks on it I've found via this site. When downloaded on my PC I'm faced with 4 or so files, two or three perhaps starting with a 'cab' file name and the other a reg or set up file. Basically what do I then do with these files? With the phone conected via USB I went into the deice memory and dropped all the files into the memory, did a soft reset, but nothing happened, no extra feature etc. Phone just started up as normal. Sorry for my 'thickness' lol. Would welcome any advice or a pointer to somewhere where it may be already written.
Thanks.
Do not unzip the .cab place on phone and browse phone with File Explorer, click on the .cab and install to Device....
It's a common noob mistake as .cab's are compressed archives so look like .zips on computer....
Thanks for the quick reply, I'll give that a go....
after dropping them on the device you have to run them. Open File Explorer and just launch them from there. A setup will be launched usually.
Thanks for the above advice, worked a treat.
Well I've had no problem putting cab files onto my HD2, however now I want to remove a few of them. Not sure how to remove the actual thing that I've changed??? I go into the device memory and I can delete the cab itself but the 'change' still remains, such as new task bar icons etc.
Any help appreciated....
settings -> add remove programs
just like on a computer
Oh yes of course, makes sense now. Many thanks

How to move Gameloft's games into Storage card ?

and how to make them work again under games
Pocket Mechanic will move them from device to storage card whilst still leaving the game installed.
Hi
Noob question: anymore details on how we can go about doing this by using pocket mechanic?
thanks in advance.
Pocket Mechanic ? is this the only way ?

same question
I had this problem and just fixed it, didn't even use pocket mechanic
I have resco file explorer, all I simply did was move the games in the Gameloft folder on my device into Storage Card/Program Files/Gameloft
I then made copies of the shortcuts to the games and placed them in My Device/Windows/Start Menu/Programs/Games
And voila, it worked, and no reappearing of the huge gameloft files in My Device
Did it without resco and didn't work

This is right !
but t\and I have been doing so for ages BUT it just doesnt work for all ( like midnight pool for instance )
There are a lot of discussions about this ongoing out in the web. It does not work because of ONE file per game that cannot be run from SD.

Interesting, the games that I moved and worked included midnight pool 2.. (the games I moved were midnight pool 2, avatar and texas hold em poker)
Weird how it only works for some...
Maybe its differences in ROMs?
I am currently using the May 9th Energy ROM if that helps..
How to move the folders into the memory card with resco ?

Well first of all you have to have resco
Then open it up, and simply just navigate to required folders and you are able to do all the cut and pasting by touch =]

Nothing happens and theres no error , and the shortcuts right
Some gameloft games can be installed / moved to storage card. Just recreate the shortcut using tool like total commander - cecmd
Asphalt 4
Chessmaster
Ferarri GT
Prince of Persia
Spiderman
Sonic
Bubble Bash 2
The rest require patching the main exe file &
removing reference to \Program Files\ &
hardcoding the \storage card\gameloft\gamepath
Assassins Creed 2
Asterix & obelix
Avatar
Brain Challange 3
Earthworm Jim
Hawx
Iron Man 2
Platinum Sudoku 2
Prince of Persia - The forgotten sands
Resident Evil
Roland-Garros 2009
Shrek Forever After

can someone jog my memory please......need for speed shift related.

hey guys, i'v just got my phone back from htc after being repaired and im on with installing all my apps and games but im having a problem with a certain game. its need for speed shift, i cant steer my car due to having some resco products installed. i remember reading a thread on xda of a solution but cant find/remember how to do it. it involved dropping certain files from blah blah blah.........???, i just cant remember .
if anyone knows the score, please enlighten me, cheers.
ps: i was the person who sussed it was resco photo manager that clashed with the games steering, just thought i'd drop that in...
I've done so: installed resco in internal memory, then copied the directory in the storage card, uninstall resco from application manager then with total commander (for example) create a "link to" application in SD without reinstalling. After this nfs works fine
thats the one

nfs shift
I'm using Arto's sense 3.9.2 on my Acer S200, but in Nfs shift the steer left and right doesn't work when i tilt the device left and right.
How can i setup this?
You need to install HTC g-sensor and D3D packs.
d3d low fps nfs shift
sorry, but when can i find d3d pack for our s200? The g-sensor is ok, but is it normal that the game is very slow,it snaps (very low fps), or with d3d will be fluid?
sorry for my bad english! bye
s200 neotouch nfs shift d3d chainfire
Hi, finally i installed "chainfire turbo3d 3.00" and i set it up in "smooth" mode(is it correct?). It's better than before, but still not fluid as others devices (as hd2,desire....video from youtube), in fact in the timer during the game the seconds are very slow. What's my mistake? Our Neotouch shouldn't be able to play this game easily with its power? thank you
ps: do i have to install chainfire tg01 d3d file also?
Man, u need to do these things:
1) Delete chainfire turbo 3d (i think it is bad on our device because after I've installed it, nfs have started to be more slow - fps decreased)
2) With using any alternative (!!!) File explorer (I'm using Resco File Explorer), copy file "yamato_panel" from root folder of the device to the storage card (or PC, if u dont have a card), open it, change 0 to 1 (u must have after it 2D.HwBlt=1 in file), save changes. Then copy this changed file from card (or PC) to the root folder (click YES when asks for replace).
3) Copy HTCSensorSDK.dll to the root folder (u can find this file in web, it is 7680 bytes, if u will not can find, ask me in private message) and to the \Windows folder too.
4) Soft reset your device.
5) Enjoy! NFS Shift HD (99 Mb cab file) must work nice now.
If you are using my Manila or my Clean ROM, then everything works fine. You can play NFS Shift without any problems.
If you are on Manila ROM, then first disable Sense.
Hi! Thank you very much. Following justrazor's instructions now i can play very well. (i have acer original rom). Thank you!
hello
please send me the link of nfs shift cab
nfs shift link???????? CAB ......!!!!!!!!!! FOR ACER S200

Have you read the rules:
6. Do not post warez.
If a piece of software requires you to pay to use it, either pay or find your cracks and serials somewhere else. We do not accept warez nor do we permit any member to promote or describe ways in which Warez, cracks, serial codes or other means of avoiding payment, can be obtained.
9. Don't get us in trouble.
Don't post copyrighted materials or do other things that will obviously lead to legal trouble. If you wouldn't do it on your own homepage, you probably don't want to do it here either. This does not mean we agree with everything the software piracy lobby try to impose on us, it simply means you cannot break any laws here, since we'll end up dealing with legal hassle caused by you. [Q] Renaming Files and Folders

Hi all,
Loving my Optimus 3D but can't seem to work out how to rename files and folders. I know once you have taken a photo it gives you the option to Rename, but I was wondering how I could go back and rename photos and video files, and folders from before (without connecting to my computer). Anyone know?
Also can you create folders within the phone for content? And can you organize content in the Applications section, e.g. sorting Downloads in order or placing them in different categories.
Any help would be much appreciated
Cheers

To rename files and folders and create folders on your phone you'd have to have an explorer app that allows you to browse your filesystem. I'm not aware of any browser apps that don't require root (ie. Astro or Root Explorer) but then again, I've never had the need for one and always had my phones rooted.
You might wanna be carefull when renaming folders and files though.
I don't think the standard launcher allows changing the contents of the applications drawer.
Thanks for the response, appreciate it. At the risk of sounding like a total noob, what do you mean when you say having your phone rooted? I'm total new to smart phones and always just had an old simple mobile.
Also, is the Optimus 3D like the iPhone in that you need to hack it to install apps downloaded from your PC for free or can you install any apps via PC
get "estrongs file explorer". it's free and does many many many more amazing things than just letting you rename files without root requirement.

Rooting a phone basically gets you super access, kind of like having an administrator account on Windows. It comes in handy for example when you want to use custom roms, get complete file access, use screenshot tools etc.
And an Android phone is in no way an iPhone when it comes to installing apps. There's an option that when turned on allows the installation of apps you didn't get from the Market (it's in the Application section of your options menu). Presuming you only use free programs you downloaded you can just put the .apk file on your internal or external sd card and install it, either by using a file browser (such as the mentioned Estrong) to find the apk or using a separate app installer which you can download from the Market.
Awesome, thanks for the reply really appreciate it, and I actually understand it now.
So if I downloaded and installed an app or game from the internet for free, that usually had to be bought on the Android market or from Gameloft for example, could you get in trouble or banned/blocked in any way?
Sorry if this is a noob/inappropriate question
Cheers
no. google actiually lets you do what you want with your device.
Awesome, good to know. I'm really wanting the Gangstar games from gameloft but they aren't available to purchase via Gameloft yet. I can download the pirated versions and install them, but would Gameloft cause any problems when I did so or would I always have to play in airplane mode?
Most pirated software works just like the original version, just check if there's any installation instructions. The biggest disadvantage in my opinion is not being able to update pirated software through the Market.
You can use Polaris Office included in the phone as file explorer for all the naming, copying etc.. The name is a bit misleading
Nice, I didn't know that Polaris was a glorified file browser. Works great for viewing, editing and removing files and folders.
So, to the topicstarter, this is all you need to do the things you want. You can edit your filesystem and browse to your downloaded apps to install them (for example create a map called DownloadedApps, connect your phone to your pc, copy any downloaded apps to the map you created, disconnect, use Polaris to browse to the DownloadedApps map and click on any app you want to install).
If you want to rename a file or folder just long press on it and you'll be presented with all the options you need.
Yeah, I just had a play around with it, looks and works really good. Thanks for all the help folks much appreciated.
PS - If anyone could provide instructions and a link on how to install the Gangstar games (hereby showing me how to install ripped games at the same time) I would very much appreciate it. Been having no luck getting it to work
