Mobile HotSpot Option in Froyo - Nexus One Themes and Apps

Anyone Able to tether internet with the built in Hotspot option?
i am able to connect to it.. but its not getting any internet. Can someone tell me if this is a problem for everyone??

I tried it. Works.

Works for me also, although I do have to wait a bit after it connects for the internet to start working.

Works like a charm here. Disconnected from my wireless and connected to the hotspot on my Nexus One just now and I get decent speed as well.
1Mbps down and 0.5Mbps up. Didn't have to wait or anything, it just worked right away.

It works great! The best thing about it for me is that im finally able to tether my zune HD. With wireless tether for root i was only able to tether my ipod touch. Tethering my zune HD with my unlimited zune pass gets me all the music i want without looking for a hotspot for my zune!!

I noticed that the connection at first will not allow internet connectivity on my computer, but I give it about a minute or two and then it will work. Just be patient and keep your computer locked onto your android hotspot and it will work.

"Wireless Tether for Root Users" app won't stay connected

Does anyone else have this problem?
My laptop will stay connected for a maybe a minute at a time, sometimes just a few seconds and I have to reconnect. Under Wireless Network Connection, the network is listed as "On Demand", if that helps.
I've tried every version of "Wireless Tether for Root Users" I can find and they all have the same problem. Is there anyway to stay connected?
Is it possible that your computer won't let you connect to an Ad-hoc connection? Maybe as soon as it realizes what it's connecting to it jumps off?
Havent had a problem, are you using the administration portion of wireless thether, you might have to just confirm the connection on the phone and apply the settings, you should have a green sheild when on your phone when a allowed device is connected
As far as I know ad hoc networks are allowed, I am using windows xp.
I have access control on and my laptop is allowed and connects fine, it just will not stay connected.
I am using a Toshiba nb205 netbook with windows xp.
On the Choose a Wireless Network window, next to G1Tether it says "On Demand" instead of Manual or Automatic. I've never seen that before.
I'm using the internet fine, I just have to reconnect every 30 seconds or so. Perhaps my google skills are too weak, but I cannot find anything, any help is very much appreciated.
Can you connect to a wifi network from the phone and stay connected?
Can you connect to a wifi network from the laptop and stay conencted?
"On Demand" is normal for Ad-Hoc Networks.
I had the same problem after upgrading from fresh 1.0 to 1.1 w/ gk-31. I uninstalled wireless tether and reinstalled it from my mybackup pro app backup (the one I made before flashing the new Rom and kernel. Works just fine now.
If I'm not mistaken I believe flipz included a newer version of wireless tether, maybe the old one works better.
I just realized I assumed you are using freshrom...
Might try reinstalling it anyways, let us know how it works out.
Reinstalling didn't work. I'll try out some roms tonight and see if they work any better, thanks anyways
Old post I know, but just wanted to see if anyone had any more ideas here. I don't think it's an android app issue at all, but rather windows. I'll be cruising along the highway with a fine connection, but as soon as windows picks up a random access point, it will jump off my ad-hoc connection and try to connect to the other one. not cool.

[Q] Wifi tethering

Hello,
I have been using Tom Codon XDA wifi sharing app for almost 2 years and all of the sudden it stopped working. I have hard reset the phone and reinstalled the application but no go. The connection is no longer being made to sprint. Wondering i
Any ideas on this would be great. Or even if I can able tether would be nice.
Thanks in advance.
Try Omarket's Mobile Wifi Router
No I dont know how to help with that. I use to use tom codon (and still can) but my Wii can not connect so I got a Cradle Point MBR1000. Im very happy with it. Now all my computers in the house truly are in a real wifi network with each other and can share files. and use the internet through the MBR1000. The mbr1000 gets the internet from my phone via usb. Its great. They make portable routers also. One of there portable routers can grab internet from any source, wifi, tethering usb phone as a modem (internet sharing) , cat 5, express modem card. And combine them for faster internet.

[Q] WiFi Hotspot to a router

Before I had my Charge, I had an Imagio running WinMo 6.5. On that phone I ran an app called WiFi Router to share my Verizon Internet. The cool thing was that my phone cold also connect to my home Belkin router and as long as every other device was on the same network, they would all see the Internet via the Belkin (even the wired devices).
Now I have my Charge rooted and I am running Barnacle with no problems. But to share my Internet with all of my devices, I have to have a PC with a WiFi card and a Wired NIC then run ICS (Internet Connection Sharing)... yuck!
Is there any way I can share my Charge's Internet the same way I did on my Windows phone?
If there were a way to have the WiFi running at the same time as Barnacle, it might work as I need/want.

[Q] Tether to PS3?

I've searched and seen a couple threads with similar issues and no answers.
I'm trying to connect my Nexus 4 on T-mobile to my PS3. This isn't really phone specific though, I've had the same issue on my last few phones.
Now it will connect to my tether just fine, and I can connect to Netflix and such, but it will not connect to the PSN. I have tried using Hotspot Shield VPN along with FoxFi, Wifi Tether-TrevE, built in tethering, and PdaNet. It works for a tiny bit when the month begins, but very shortly after, T-Mobile detects that it is tethering (no matter which method I use) and they send me a text and block my tethering access. When this happens I get the T-Mo Hotspot Upsell redirect.
I can bypass this on my computer using a user-agent string change, or Opera and it also connects to my smart TV and Blu-Ray player with no issues, but once T-Mobile "blocks" my tether access, I cannot access the PSNetwork on my PS3. I just want to play online!
Does anyone else have this issue? Solutions?
I am running CM10.1 on my Nexus 4.
No one? Ugh.

[Q] tethering question

I have unlimited data, and I also pay the extra 30.00 for the hotspot feature. For some reason when I try to tether via USB (so my phone can also be charging, and since it's generally more reliable) I seem to get the connection dropped within 60-90 seconds after I'm using it.
If I use the mobile hotspot app and just tether via wifi, the conniption works flawlessly. I was wondering if I'm missing a setting somewhere, or if the built in USB tethering is just plain crapola. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.

Never heard of such a thing... Perhaps the location where you leave your phone while its plugged in has poor reception.
Try leaving the phone in that spot without tethering and stream a long YouTube video or something like that...

Can't help, but have you tried the clockworkmod USB tethering app?
I just ended up installing FoxFi and it works just fine for USB tethering. No clue why the built in feature (for USB tethering) would crap out. Connecting wirelessly worked great with the stock hotspot app, but USB just didn't. I'm in a very strong signal area so it had nothing to do with that.
