Phone dropped... contacts appear gone... - Touch Cruise General

Hi all,
Just set up an account here as I've had a problem with my XDA Orbit 2. It was knocked out of my hand the other day (not the first time it's been dropped though) and when I picked it up, it appeared to be restarting, so I thought nothing of it (thought perhaps the battery had come loose or something).
After a few minutes, I had a look at it and realised it had reset itself to the factory settings. So I go through that process and after it goes through that whole process, when I got to the today screen, I did a quick scan and found that all my messages and emails were still there (and the settings too), all the files and pictures I had on the phone were present... the only things that appear to have been affected are my contacts list and calendar details (birthdays, appointments etc). These are simply gone!
I went to Settings --> Menu and noticed that some of the menu items I could select were doubled (I have, for example "Calendar" and "Calendar (1)", "Phone" and "Phone (1)" and "Contacts" and "Contacts (1)". Long story short... I managed to open these (contacts in particular), but there's no informtion there at all. I also had a look at the PIM.VOL file (it was about 350kb) and extracted all the subfiles, but the contacts file was empty (0 records). So the question is: are my contacts actually gone? I'm hoping not, seeing as everything else is still on the phone, but I know this isn't a guarantee...
Sorry for the long message, but hopefully someone can give me an idea of what to do. If anything!
Thanks in advance.

SMS Delete!

After several attempts, I have realized that when an SMS viewed from the TF3D tab and deleted using the screen option, it just gets deleted without being stored in the "Trash Folder", where as if the same SMS was viewed using the SMS box -the old way- and thereafter deleted, it goes to the Trash folder.
Funny ain't it? I lost many of such SMS and tried to retreive'em hopelessly...

SMS Disappeared

I'm using the HTC Diamond. But I thought I'll put this in the General problem as this might not only apply to the TD.
Today I received an sms and I couldn't get into the message to read it, so I decided to turn off my phone, and turn it back on again – I did the soft reset (pressing the power button on the top of the phone and not the instant soft reset button). I have done this before and it worked after that.
However, after I turned on the phone again today, the smses I received and sent since 23/07/2009 have disappeared.
I also checked the most recent call history and it's there – so it's not as if the phone decided to backdate itself.
Has this happened to anyone else? I would like to retrieve those missing smses (at least the ones I received) if I could. Is there a particular directory that the phone stores these smses?
Help would be much appreciated!

Click to collapse
Mine aren't threaded either.
I can understand if it decided to delete today's or even yesterday's messages, since it takes a while for the messages to be saved onto the rom.
But I can't figure out why it deleted messages up to 2 weeks ago.
And did you have any way to retrieve the missing smses?

[Q] Gmail on Vibrant breaking up single messages

Gmail on my Vibrant is doing the craziest thing - randomly. It takes messages that I write and breaks them up into a ton of smaller, partial messages. It is correct on Gmail and in Thunderbird, but in Gmail on my phone it displays very oddly.
I've attached a few screenshots to show what I'm talking about.
In the first screenshot, you see that it says the conversation has 24 messages. This should be 2. I sent one, and got one reply.
In the second screenshot, you see the way it shows a bunch from me one after the other.
In the third you see how the first email shows the beginning of the actual email, then the second shows what was in the first, plus a little bit more. Then the third adds on to that, and so on and so on until, 23 emails later it finally puts the entire thing.
The fourth screenshot hints at the problem - notice how some of the email is in purple, as if Gmail thinks that it is part of "quoted text."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is really weird and it's pretty damn frustrating, too. Any ideas?
EDIT: I should also point out two other things I forgot to mention... First, this email (and I think all the others that have done this) were actually sent from my desktop/laptop and sycned with the phone. Also, looking at timestamps on the screenshots, it shows different times for each one... however, they were obviously all sent at once - in the web client it shows correctly.
I had this happen on my fascinate once and I killed the app, came back and it was fine.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
No such luck. Kill the app, nothing. Restart the phone, nothing.

HTC Clock - no Facebook updates

Hi guys,
This problem has been driving me nuts for the last week:
I love the HTC Clock on the ChaCha with Facebook messages underneath. Much more useful than the weather (Jeez! look out the window!)
Anyhoo, for the last week or so it's been saying "no recent updates" my daughter suggested I just didn't have any decent friends but no, pressing the panel takes me to loads of updates in HTC's Facebook app.
I've tried clearing the cache on Sense, toggling WiFi on and off, rebooting the phone. Still nothing
I can't see how I can get to any settings for the clock, it must hang off of something else but what?
Both the Facebook's own homepage widget and HTC's Friendstream both seem to be working fine. Hope someone can help!
Thanks,
Andy
Aha. I had this exact problem last week and made me realise how much I missed the feature. No end of rebooting, removing the widget / adding it again seemed to fix it. Then had a go a looking for other widgets to use instead, but I couldn't find anything that fit.
Anyway - the solution is to go:
Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All
Scoot down to 'Facebook for HTC Sense'
First go 'Clear Cache' if that options on.
Second go 'Clear Data'
You'll get a pop up telling all data will be deleted, click OK.
How go back to home click on the Clock widget, go back.....
And hopefully, you're back in business!!!
JD
Yay!
After reseting the data I had to re-authorise my "f" button and "**** about" a bit with the facebook app... then the little sync arrow appeared at the top and it all started working
Thanx!
Tried all of the above with Wifes phone and It didn't work, Then again she has like hundreds of facebook contacts through the stupid games she plays on there so maybe there is just too much info to sync with such a small amount of memory on the device, Anyway I don't care as its her phone lol
Hi,
I'm having the same problem.
I deleted the Facebook application. I installed again.
"Facebook" application, and the "Facebook for HTC Sense" I deleted the application data. But it was not the solution. Still does not update facebook widget.
How can I solve this problem?

[Q] Deleting emails not working or lagging

Hi All,
I just recently got a Samsung Focus Flash after my old Focus died. I unlocked it and everything, got it all setup and whatnot back to where my Focus was. The only issue I'm experiencing is that when I go to delete an email in the thread view, unread, it either lags (the email stays on the screen in the list of emails, highlighted as if unread) or it doesn't delete and I have to try deleting it at least once, maybe two more times before it finally disappears... Thoughts?
On my original Focus, when I deleted an email it would disappear from the list immediately. I want this back!
Thanks!
