Touchdown can interface with Exchange servers via the Outlook Web Access of your particular exchange server. Give it a try.

I tried... but it didnt worked for me... is it possible that they are blocking acces via external programms?
[Edit] works... sry but 20 € ? Wtf? Is there any other useful programm like this?

Try SEVEN android app. I have been using this for a while and it works fine for me.

Help setting up yahoo on TC

Just got my TC tonight and I cant put it down. I LOVE this device. Ive never had a WM phone before but have played with them without any desire to own one. Well I really like how much can be optimized and configured, and thats not even considering all the tweaks found here.
Anyway, my current issue is that I cant get my yahoo email to work. Now, it could be that Im coming from a Blackberry Curve so my phone package is the blackberry BIS. Would this inhibit me getting my email? If so, do I have to call up ATT tomorrow and get set up on the smartphone program instead?
The POP/IMAP email access requires a normal dataplan... After that the device can configure itself for the mail access (after you enter you email adrdess in the new account creation). But if you want better useability, and more security than you should configure it manually whith IMAP access... if Yahoo! supports it...

I like my BB Curve better. I guess I have way too many things against me as a Mac user also. Its a neat phone but not what I really want.
yahoo/gmail issues
I am having a weird problem. When connected over wifi, yahoo and google connect and download mail like you'd expect.
When connected to 3G or Gprs network google and yahoo fail to connect. The phone tries to make another connection, like it does not know there is already a data connection.
I know my data connection is good at 3G, because I surf the web all day...
Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks.
Figured it out...
Had to uncheck the "use proxy" setting on the connection profile under "proxy"

Is there any messenger like BB mess only for android users?

Hi, i would like to have an app that offers me instant free messaging comunication (using data plan) with other droid users, just like blackberry messenger...
This is because my girlfriend is willing to buy a motorola backflip...
Does this app exists? or will exist?
You'll both have a google phone with gmail addresses. Use the built in GTalk application.

Duh!
I feel so stupid right now!
hahahahahaha
ill tell you something, i loove google, but, gtalk is its only service that i dont really use, does this offer instant comunication?is it fast?
Pretty fast, and fairly reliable. Generally if there's a connection issue ur IM gets sent to the receiver as an email to their Gmail account. Definitely works well though. I use it almost exclusively now.
I wish Gtalk on android support facebook talk and others
I use ebuddy, which supports AIM and Facebook Chat.
Had good experiences with it so far.
sorry posted to wrong thread
\
I love GTalk,
The only missing feature IMO is file transfer
Could try Meebo as well. Lets you log in with Facebook, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Google Talk, icq, jabber, MySpace. Just pick any account and sign in and you'll be able to IM to all the others.
It's not phone specific, but I find it easier to go from Laptop to Phone to Laptop again this way.
Used to use meebo, switchedto this program called fring cause its got sip support. It can connect to all of those above too, seems to do abetter job off reconnecting after a lost signal.
I still keep gtalk open to talk to my brother, it s more reliable than all the others imo
I tried fring, but could not stand the interface. My 7 year old neice could have done a better job.
In the event that I just HAVE to use an IM beside Gtalk, I use Palringo (for Y!, MSN, FBchat) or the actual AIM app from the market. Both are quite capable.
Try fring. It's not bad & I use it for MSN, Skype

hah yeah thats one thing i forgot to mention, the interface is absolutely horrid. looks like someone drew it with a crayon.
I had been looking for a way to reskin it...
nimbuzz was really clean looking but i didnt try it much cause it didnt have sip support
Using gtalk!
i feel sorry for not using it before!!!!

[APP] Official Yahoo messenger, mail and search for android released!

http://www.mobilecrunch.com/2010/07...roid-mail-messenger-and-search-now-available/
The Messenger app does pretty much what you’d expect: it allows you to chat with your Yahoo!/MSN friends, and can run in the background (with push notifications) for that always-on availability. If you live in Canada, Indonesia, India, Kuwait, Malaysia, Philippines, Pakistan, Thailand, United States, or Vietnam, you can also use the app to send SMS to friends, which will appear in the current conversation. Oh, and it supports emoticons, because it ain’t IM without emoticons.
The Mail app is also a no-brainer, and allows you to check, search, organise, and send mail from your Yahoo! email account, as well as download/upload attachments. It can use both your Yahoo! address book, as well as the one on your phone, so you should be able to find the email address you need. And, like the Messenger app, it also supports push notifications and emoticons.

+1 I want to know it too
I'll be installing this shortly to check it out and see how it works..
I figured they'd be working on this when I saw Yahoo! News pop up on the Market as well.
Seriously? yahoo?
Who in the world would use yahoo when there's gmail?
Yuck.
Yeah I used this app when I was on Blackberry and it's one of the reason I went Android...Yahoo and Yahoo messenger suck. I don't even think any of my friends use it anymore.
i mostly use gmail, but i still have my old yahoo account. the yahoo email app is very nice though! i like it!
I have tons of friends who use yahoo and wont switch over to Gmail. A lot of them have android phones and still use yahoo for there main mail service. So having an official app is great for me and them. Not everyone love's gmail.
Yahoo messenger doesnt sent & receive fast as yahoo messenger version pc hope the yahoo team can fix it in next version...
------------------------------
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Looks good and works better than stock email app. Hopefully it doesn't drain my battery. Does anyone know what is the refresh rate?
Too bad Yahoo doesn't give two ****s about their paying small business customers.
=/
leyvatro: It's push based, not polled based, there is no refresh rate.

And you know why they won't switch over to yahoo? Cause yahoo charges a fee for pop3/imap access. Which is about as dumb as charging for sand in the desert. Otherwise they'd just set up gmail to grab mail from yahoo and they'd be good to go.
Preferring yahoo over gmail is like preferring old mechanic typewriters over PCs and printers.

These are not "tech" people like most of us here. These are casual users who don't wanna start over with a new email address. They don't even know what pop3/imap is and really don't care to know. They just want a simple way to use there yahoo services on there phone.
I think sometimes we lose site that not every android user is like us. Matter of fact I would guess that people like us who know the true power of android and the real advantages gmail has over yahoo and other services are less than 5% of all android users.
Thanks for the post
Gonna check this out soon
still waiting for a proper non disconnecting windows live messenger client

Calender please!

Guys, I have a X10i updated to Android 2.1, I am very happy with the phone except that i cant use one basic functionality of the phone.
The calender app requires me to sync with gmail & somehow Vodafone Live GPRS does not permit such registrations as its apparently only for basic web browsing. For such registrations, i would have to opt for advanced GPRS in Vodafone titled Vodafone connect whose monthly rental is quite high. Since my GPRS usage is limited, I am not willing to pay that amount just to sync my phone to google!
I am frustrated that i cant access such a basic app like calender... I have searched the entire Android market for a calender app which does not require me to sync to google or gmail.
Can you guys help me with this? I just need a basic calender app!
Same with me also...i want same app....is there any?

I´m not sure if this is what you`re looking for but try "DejaOffice - Outlook, USB Sync"
Search for "DejaCalendar" on Market
More basic
AnCal
Jorte
Gives you the option to use google, or jorte calendar for the data.. so use Jorte.. and it also has tasks, great widgets, and the basic app is better than the standard one.

Default Email App

Hi,
I realized that there's no default email app on my Phab 2 Pro apart from the Gmail app.
I don't want to integrate my POP3/IMAP or Exchange email with Gmail.
What can I use as an email application ?
Thanks.
Nine is the best email app available in my opinion.
you mean there's no email app installed on P2P apart from Gmail ?
And which "Nine" are you suggesting ? Is it the one from "9folders" ?
It seems "Nine" from 9folders is not a free app.
I am looking for a free app as I am used to from all other Android devices.
Why isn't there any free one on P2P ?

You can use it for free without paying for it. I payed the $10 because I wanted to support the dev, but you don't have to. My employees all use it without paying.

I have checked Nine.
It does not support POP3 or IMAP; Only Exchange.
What I want is a simple email client for Pop3 and/or IMAP
Is there any ?

I really need help on this.
There are many email apps on market. But I really need one which is light and good. As in plain android.
I don't understand why P2P does not have one preinstalled.

thanks for nothing...
Sorry, my Phab2 Pro (PB2-690Y) came with a generic email app so, either you have a different phone or you can't see what's in front of your face. Either way, I can't help you

the generic email app on your phone (Phab 2 Pro) takes you to Gmail.
Sorry bud I tried to help you with the only email app that I know of, Nine. As for finding an email that works for you some times you just have to jump in on your own and test apps until you find the one that fits your needs.
