[Q] Calendar app that doesn't require internet access

Is there an existing calendar app for X10 that doesn't require internet access to work? I don't like the one which came with the phone because I can't open it without logging in to my gmail account first.

You could try Jorte; it's pretty good. It has a range of themes and useful widgets. You can find it on the Market!

Jorte doesn't have a working reminder when not setup to connect to google. :-(

[Q] Nuevasync not free anymore

Hi friends,
today is a very sad day!
I just received a mail that anounced "New Services" on nuevasync.com.

If you don't switch to the Basic 15$/yr / Premium 30$/yr Service it will stop syncing.
We have 5 days to switch to an alternative Service (web-based or installed Application).
Well i used nuevasync for syncing 9 GoogleCalendars and my Contacts to my TouchHD and everything works great.
Now I'm on a search for an alternative solution to get this job done.
I so far found ActiveGcSync. But I have to say it crashes pretty much, so it's no fun.
Do you have any other proposals?

I'm in the same boat, just recently started using it again and was happy with it.
Not happy they have decided to stop being free (but that happens) and even worse only gave five days notice.
Not sure what to use instead... I'd pay $15 for life, but not each year.

anybody no of any alternatives, because I want to sync my contacts and multiple calendars to my windows mobile phone

I've got lots of ideas too, unfortunately no capability to go anything technical to assist!

Send me a PM and let me know what you need done. I can help with some things, others I can't. I'll let you know what I can do to assist you though.

I tried gmobilesync but it double all my events. I think I will stay with normal sync described: http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138636&topic=14299

I've never experienced doubling up (touch wood), had you already synced up?
As my main calendar is used very little compared to our shared one, I'm not going down the copying route.

there were also forecast and holidays copied to my main calendar while using it :/

Thank you for your help. I wrote a small exchange server which can synchronize my google calendar with my phone. It was easier than I thought. I dont know how much work it needs but I think I can publish it in 1-2 weeks. Meanwhile you can write your ideas here. If anyone could lend me a server for this, that would be awesome.

Sorry, no programming capabilities, nor a server I can share.
However, some ideas:
- Ability to pick which calendars sync
- Ability to pick sync schedule (or always connected or only manually)
- Two way syncing (can't get gmobile syncing to go from WM to google), keeping to the correct calendar.
- Ability to pick one way syncing (either way required)
- Ability to pick the default calendar (for me, this is a shared family calendar, not my main google calendar).
- Ability to pick colours for each calendar (or take the same colours as set in google).
I may come up with other ideas, but that seems to be it for now. Personally I am not interested in syncing contacts or email. Contacts I want to keep separate from those I call and those I email, email works better on imap than activesync.

[Q] Social hub

Does anyone use the social hub on their note? I've been persevering as I like the concept, but I'm finding it a bit limited in functionality. e.g. no option to select multiple items.
Also it always opens on the feeds page, which I hardly ever use.
Is anyone else using it?

Yep I use it and love it. Have 5 email accounts, facebook, twitter and linkedin all in one place. Superb app

I try to use it ! I think it's difficult to use in with de note. I also want to have e-mail first and not the fields page...

the scrolling on it is really slow. Anyone else get that?

I'd like to give this a test drive, anyone able to post up the latest social hub apk?
Seems it's not in the market now, and I'd frozen it when it first launched as I don't use facebook and other (anti)social stuff, but it might be worthwhile now I'm sync'ing work email so that I can use one app to handle work and personal email. I like how the default mail app does pinch-zoom which gmail lacks, so if social hub will do that and handle gmail the same way I'd be happy. After freezing it and then updating firmware the apk's seem to have gone so cannot re-install

Social Hub will use the stock email app for emails, so you can pretty set up your account there.
I'm not using it anymore since it consumes a lot of memory. Also, occasionally the account for Windows Live would suddenly stop working with no way to retrieve mails. Furthermore the extra things that it can do for emails can be configured in the stock email without it. Example, to use Hotmail, configure the server to m.hotmail.com as Exchange account. For Yahoo, configure it as imap. You get push service for both.
For social apps, since I'm using Facebook official app, I don't see why I need to set it up using Social Hub. Well the thing I hate the most is that I can't choose the default tab when I start it up.

thanks for the info, I was hoping to just have one app in the quick launch area for exchange/gmail/IM but maybe sticking with stock apps is a better bet then. Might look at moving the gmail accounts into this and dropping the gmail app instead.

I've been using social hub anytime now, it works fine. putting all accounts in one, easy to access emails and messaging the only thing is that, it eats more memory (allocating more memory to social hub0 with out actively using it.

So, as heaps of you already know, Google has killed off Google Calendar Sync, as of 01.08.14 (that would be 1st August).
I find this pretty irritating - call me mean, but I resent that these people can play with us like this, but I guess it's their commercial prerogative. (Not exactly a goodwill winner though is it?)
From my research today there are a few apps available, but none are really free - examples include:

Heh heh... yeah, i know... just mostly a browser for years - but this is a hot topic for me now.
I did test it out. It 'appeared' to work. I had a weird thing happen - some of the appts ended up at different times. I.e. a 10:00 appeared at 9:00. I'm not sure if it was my email client and how it connected to google. I was using eM Client for windows because it connects directly with google cal and contacts w/o a tool (Outlook 2013 didn't like my big mailboxes0. So, I'm still trying to figure out if it was something else.
On a positive note - It didn't screw things up too bad.... i was able to 'fix' some of the issues. However, I'm not ready to fully commit.
Here was my set up WorkPC(OL2010) > sync with tool from pppindia > gmail account > home pc(eM Client).

I'm using this - I think the tool has potential, but it's all very manual, and the QR Code option doesn't seem to work for me - so based on how I've been using it (and it could be "operator error") I find it clunky.
You need to open the software on your PC, then open the app on the phone. Then hit the Sync button.
I'm looking for something that syncs automatically, and will pay if I have to. But as I said, I resent paying for something that really should be free!

Well I downloaded the Windows client for this app last night, and woke up to a PC with "BlockandSurf" to annoy me. I can't of course be 100% certain that the source was the MyPhoneExplorer download, but it's likely. Not the best start.
However, it looks like a comprehensive (Donate if you like) app. How much or if I donate will depend on further evaluation.
First syncs seemed effective.
Now to see if it runs in background effectively...
EDIT - Dev's response - to be fair I didn't notice the option to deselect the Adware option.

MyPhoneExplorer is free but i have to pay alot of bills regarding MyPhoneExplorer, because of this you will get a additional software offer in the software - you can easily disable the installation of the ad-ware tool with a click on "Decline". The donations helps alot, but its not enough to organize all tasks related MyPhoneExplorer. There are alot Freewares which do it this way. I am not fully happy with the ads, but its the only option to handle it.

How do I deal with a device that didn't come with Calendar Storage?

I have a strange device from Alibaba (Touchwo panel https://www.alibaba.com/product-det...a2756.order-detail-ta-ta-b.0.0.5d732fc2KN7LdB) that came with Android 11 and most components, including Play Services, but it doesn't seem to have come with the Calendar Storage component. I tried to get a random .apk and install that but it didn't work, and I have no idea where I would find one specific to this device. Is there any way to install the component or otherwise get calendar apps to work? I just need one that syncs with Google Calendar and that I can use as a widget.

Have you tried logging in through Chrome and using the calendar?

I don't understand what you're asking. Using the calendar within a browser is not helpful to me, I want to place a widget on the home screen. Or, if you're asking me to open the built-in calendar app, that doesn't even open without Calendar Storage installed.

If you are not satisfied with the help provided in the form of discussion, I can't help it.

Welp, then find Calendar Storage app, from some ROMs, this app is mostly same from ROM to ROM.

Find/use a free 3rd party calendar app. Find one that's ad free and allows for backup. Samsung's have one integrated into their ecosystem so I never pursued one. I try to avoid using Gookill products...

I can actually relate, i dont use Google apps too. like for one or two years, Disabling them gives large slice in privacy and productivity and battery life with memory as well.

A map app that doesn't need Gmaps running in the background be nice. Gmaps always runs at start up. Trashware and spyware.
I still use Gmail but manual sync only and Google play Services is temporarily disabled unless I use Gmail. Framework, backup Transport and Playstore disabled. A bunch of other Google trashware as well. At least a 15% boost in SOT and screen off time savings. Makes a huge difference on this stock N10+. Google is a mess and only getting worse... internet Krokodil.
Fortunately there are a lot of great 3rd party freeware apps especially if still running on Android 9. Google is making harder for developers as Android becomes more of a rotten Apple with each OS release. Google aka Spectre.

I found some on APKMirror but they didn't work. Everywhere I found said that the app is generally customized per device.

3rd-party apps use Calendar Storage as well. I do want something that at least integrates with Google Calendar because my job uses it. If you know of any that integrate with Google Calendar but don't use Calendar Storage, that would be great, because I wasn't able to find any.

I should have clarified, I would like something I can use as a widget. The device is going on my wall, not as a portable tablet.
