Well we should stop complaining now.
If this is the *test* build, I can't wait to see the "full" one.
This is a honking good ROM.
What makes you think the 'official" build is not going to be the test build with an official stamp? I'll be surprised if its much different. Regardless 2.2 is working fine for me so I'll wait to our guys get their roms going and move to one of them when they get them available. For me both enomther and cm were every bit as good as 2.2, some pluses and minuses either way, but the thing I want is froyo after they get done with it. Thats a win.
This would have probably been better off in general but then its already been posted there....

This is a release candidate build...so minor tweaks might be expected when the final Oficial update reaches our Nexus.
As far as FR50 users we have pseudo-official confirmation that we will get the OTA update as well. Something that never worried me anyway as DEV Nexus would have to be updated the first anyway.
LOL
Its actually a release candidate:

The post was updated.
well the one which is released its running fine on my nexus but this is an awesome news

So are you trying to say even if we updated to this test release we can still OTA it if we are not rooted?

Odds are there will be no noticable changes so not sure it rates as "awesome".
OTA updates should be automatic as 2.2-rc < 2.2 - updates are done to newer versions, this would qualify.
this is an awesome rom but it definitely a test rom. I know everyone is getting the freezing when disconnecting usb hard drive. that problem has to be fixed before the final release. it happens 90% of the time.

This only happens to me if I am using a .34 custom kernel. The stock Froyo Kernel works fine.

Yeah, I was kinda wondering where that was coming from, I havent seen a single post about mounting difficulties outside of the .34 issues with dismount after transferring files.
i cant see if there is anything to complain about the froyo it is done pretty good

thanks, maybe i loaded that kernal and forgot, i couldve sworn i was on stock kernal. i need to stop playing with my phone at 4:20
edit: I did load the .34 kernal, the sound was a little low while i was on a call and that kernal had sound tweaks, i guess its time to go back to stock kernal.

This ROM looks so familiar... I just can't put my finger... WAIT! It is an exact copy of the one barak sent me when he first got it running...
http://twistedumbrella.slackdev.com/EclairSx-0.6.zip
Boot animation works (used the cyanogen one)
Apps to SD and such things work
Still no sound, bt, or wifi
Some files removed and apps added
link doesnt work Twisted.

Curious? Lol, I can read code. There is nothing in there from the new dump. Not to mention the random bits of code and files that barak was using to test, but have no purpose in the build for actual release.
I kinda feel a bit foolish for trying to buy you time in the other thread you started for this by saying you were taking on a big challenge. That wasn't an excuse to just re-release what was already done. It was meant to help people back off while you got your feet wet.

Hi, I've made a 2.1 rom based on the unodexed apk's thanks to wesgarner and ivanmj as well as wesgarner's kernel and vega's battery fix to get rid of constant errors in logcat.
Mods please consider that this rom is fairly heavily based on a build RELEASED BY IVANMJ... I can confirm there is no warez in the rom.
Firerat, please test. I think some users may have a problem due to your a2sd script. It hangs on my g1 in middle of boot when utilizing it (logcat says surfaceflinger and many other services died, zygote exit).
Features:
3D (needs confirmation)
optimized apps on boot
optimized images
Based on the quick eris software (eclair 2.1)
Normal features working, except for data. Phone calls work tho, and wifi. Working on a fix.
Framework Finally fits on /system, improved speed and reliability (NO MORE SYMLINKS)

Just to strengthen my decision on flashing this rom (I am downloading now), I want you, in one post, to tell me why this rom is better than say, Vega's. His is de-odexed, his uses Wes' kernel, and I'm sure he included his own fix. So what makes YOURS better? (Note: Trying not to be a douche, just want to start a conversation while I download from the slow 4shared )

SalvageMod is a AOSP project developed by myself, Barnacles10, and echoside.
This software is built from the Android open source project 2.3.5 branch.
We are offering 1.4 both odex and deodex. Keep in mind, most themers theme deodex ROMs.
Make sure to choose what the google add-on that corresponds with your ROM choice.

Its aosp. They all work.
Downloading now.
I achieved a Quadrant score of 1460 with the last build. I'll report back after flash and restore.
Great job man. I'm just curious. Did you odex post-build or did you compile Rom with an odex option? Ive been playing with Rom building for some time now and have only messed with sense. I managed to build a stock aosp Rom the other day but would like to learn more about aosp building. Feel free to pm because I feel this post is off-topic. Thanks man.
Now that I have root again I might have to give this a go (would be first aosp Rom).

will there be any updates to the kernal? I'm not sure if HTC releasing source code changes anything...
Also does this rom still have the problem with the sensors that plagued the cm and deck roms?
Hmmm... No Go. After several attempts installing the fedex version; I restored V1.3. I was never able to boot past the htc EVO 4G screen.

Being an AOSP ROM, these do not rely on the HTC kernel code release. There are any of several fine kernels to choose from, so its virtually always possible to find one that your phone likes.
Regarding the 'problem with the sensors', can you elaborate on that? I've used a couple versions of the Evo-deck ROM and have yet to experience any issue.
I look forward to trying this ROM! For some reason, I couldn't get the 1.3 to run on my phone, but that could have been a bad download or similar issue. I was just too busy at that time. But I read so much good about the SalvageMod...I gotta give it a go!
Thank you for your time.
P.S: Thank you for offering the community both odex and deodex versions! I love themes, but the odex ROMs run way quicker on my phone.
Looks good I'll give it a try later.
Thanks lit.

Ah, I did run into this problem occasionally. I also found that when I would press the power button to wake the phone up when asleep I had to hold the power button down for a few seconds or it wouldn't wake up. I was using the SZ 2.2.1 kernel at the time, and later found that I experienced these things when using the smartass or SavageZen governors. I switched to InteractiveX and didn't experience them any more.
Thank you for your time.

hi
im kind of new to som of this, although i have knowledge about root and custom roms, ive come across something i've never considered before, namely kernel :/ as i understand that the right kernel can extend your battery life and such, i get raather curious about wich kernel i should use or if i actually would benefitt at all.
at the moment i have icecoldsandwich 2.0.0 custom rom installed with CM9 kernel (installed it 30 min ago so havent had time to check battery performance on this rom).
what should i do? would i benefitt from another kernel?
cheers, and thank all of you for engaging in this community ive learned alot from just reading
you can't change kernel on CM9 coz there's none compatible with that ROM apart the one shipped with it; that rom is in deep developement you have to wait a while if you want other compatible kernels.
cheers

Yep. All the ROMs have their preferred kernel anyway so you don't have much choice when it comes to kernels (at least not in the desire s section, not to say there's anything wrong with our kernels, Lowveld has done an amazing job with the kernels).
AOSP- Reaper kernel
Sense 3.5 - Endymion Kernel
Sense 3.0 - Hyperion Kernel
There are also two more kernels, Tiamat for AOSP and Unity v9 for sense. However, both these kernels are outdated now.

Big thanks to vin255764 for hooking up the OTA! Thank him here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29115214&postcount=1
Bit thanks to sbryan12144 for applying the patch and sharing the files. Thank him here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29142468&postcount=104
You will need to manually set up your APN for your carrier.
AT&T Users I made a Default AT&T Style APN set for this ROM. You may have to hard reset after installing!
Or if installing for the first time install this over it. before booting up.

Thanks, I'll grab the updated proprietary lib files from here and push out a new AOKP build soon.
Oooo very nice.
By the way, did you patch over 1.88 to update the firmware on your phone? Or still using 1.85 firmware? Based on the other thread it seemed really risky to run the OTA with the newer hboot.

No Bryan modified the updater script to work with a custom recovery then he applied the patches. He said it was a pain in the ass!
I successfully got the 1.88 RUU on with CID HTC__044 but I could not get patch to apply the OTA way :c(
I wasnt worried about firmware. That doesnt scare me!

I am uploading and testing at the same time... No answer yet...
Something seem quicker.. But somethings seem slower... BUt I am trying to compare it to CleanROM so its hard, lol.
Once I get time with the base... It will be game on!

Downloading now! A changelog posted a few weeks back said this update was much faster and smoother. Is that true?

Awesome, thanks so much!
Since we are using binaries from 4.0.3 these might lead to a bit better compatability and stuff.
If its better I'll push out a new release.
Thanks again!

Good luck man! Hope it helps!
Booted and using it right now. The homescreen has a fading effect when you switch pages and is buttery smooth. Not that it was ever bad, but now it's consistently 60fps smooth.
OMG!!! Can't wait to see this as the base for CleanROM 5.0
Love the ability to change the recent apps key out of the box. No remap necessary
Sent from my HTC One X
Hows the multitasking?any difference from what been used to from the previous stock

This isn't Jellybean so theres no Project Butter... but 4.0.4 did feature some nice speed enhancements over 4.0.3.

To me Project Butter has a more pronounced effect on the Galaxy Nexus' aging hardware.. I have a Sprint Galaxy nexus (Now retired since going One X) with JB , and the difference is almost negligible. It still stutters in the same places the ICS One X does, too , like in Play store when scrolling down "Top" apps pages.

Thats interesting!
I could totally see what you are saying. It would make Sense.
But the play store is a POS that has always been problematic.

I can't seem to get LTE with this rom
It comes default with a non-lte apn, I put one in and toggled LTE mode under mobile networks, but it just defaults back to wcdma
Maybe needs the updated radio?
Did anyone contact football to ask if he has the RUU yet? Might make it easier than using the ota.
