thinking about changing the housing

i recently dropped the phone and am thinking whether it is worth it or not to buy new housing. i have a touch diamond nam 3g with rubber back and no front facing camera. can anyone give me links to where i can find housing for my model. i saw a lot on ebay but those look like housings for the euro and asian model with glossy back and front facing camera. also if i want to switch off the front screen because of scratches, should i buy a whole new lcd or should i just buy a digitizer cuz i heard that it is hard to change just the digitizer.
anybody know anything about this?
If you need original housing it will cost you.
I bought from this company recently (EU)
http://www.mytrendyphone.com/shop/htc-touch-pro-13838p.html - £15.75
http://www.mytrendyphone.com/shop/htc-touch-diamond-11870p.html - £35.29
http://www.mytrendyphone.com/shop/htc-touch-diamond-13679p.html - £19.41
Total £70.45 + shipping
Note: The shipping is low from this company.
But your Diamond will be like brand new.
do they ship to the US though? also i don't see the actual front housing in there. i see that you bought a digitizer too. how hard is it to replace the digitizer?
From what I have seen, the phone has to be completely disassembled to change the digitizer, doesn't look like an easy task.
yeah but what i mean is, is it easy to detach the digitizer from the lcd screen?

i have asian non 3g htc touch diamond white without front facing camera. i just bought it two days back and from what i have seen nd heard, it's very difficult to replace digitizer or screen alone, if u cud get 'em get a screen wid a digitizer nd if u wanna save some money purrchase the housing with digitizer alone. but be very careful while removing the digitizr from lcd. they are sort of glued together but when u remove it, u shud have enough gule left to paste it into new digitizer.
nd sellers from hong kong are quite friendly. just ask a question to them on ebay about ur requirement and m quite sure they can make available to you whateva u want.
PS: i got it about two weeks back nd not two days.
where did you find a digitizer that doesn't have the front camera hole though

HTC Hero black volume rocker

Hello, new to the site after just having purchased a new HTC Hero in white. Hasn't arrived yet, but I have also purchased a replacement housing in black that includes everything I need except for a black volume rocker, which I didn't mind as I thought it would be easy to find. But I'm having trouble locating somewhere that sells parts for the hero bar the usual replacement screen and digitizers.
So does anybody know where I could get hold of a black volume rocker, or at the very least, somewhere that sells broken heros for spares/repairs, even ebay seems to be bare of these.
Thank you for any help!
After a bit more research, I have found that it is actually part of the middle cover according to the HTC parts list, but I can only find that specific component as part of the entire housing assembly which I already have, on top of that, only the expensive ones seem to include it, which isn't a viable option.
So anybody know where broken HTCs Hero can be bought, specifically the black T-Mobile G2. Or does anyone have a broken one? Graphite would be acceptable as almost anything is better than white on the black housing.
Thank you again.
Hi,
Do you mean the volume button? Or something else?
Maybe you can try and paint it yourself with black paint or something like that.
Cheers,
EC
Yeah, the volume button on the side. I was thinking that as I have painted a few things before, but doesn't it have some rubbery texture to it, or is it just smooth plastic?
Maybe the rubbery feeling makes the paint stick better to it.
Maybe using a waterproof pencil or something like that...

Samsung Captivate Housings?

Anyone know where I can purchase a second housing for the Captivate? I don't really need the screen or the backplate, but I'm looking for the grey part on the sides of the phone and on the back. (I'd like to paint them white haha)
Wouldn't it be easier to skin it white?

Those skins always seemed to work not right with my phones :\
I'm thinking of doing a vinyl wrap on it. What does anyone here think? If I ever get around to it, I'll post pics

Changing the housing of Galaxy S?

I chanced upon this on Ebay : http://www.ebay.com/itm/White-Housi...872599?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3cb8682c57
I thought I would be nice to tinker with my Galaxy S.
However, later on I found this : http://www.ebay.com/itm/Housing-Cov...297493?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3cb8225cd5
I if you scroll down, you would see one of the housing having a host of electronic parts which the first one didn't have. Not knowing much about electronics, I thought it would be better to get the second one, which should be less hassle.
Then I searched around for a guide and from what I found, it is near impossible to remove the glass without breaking it. So I decided to throw in a new glass panel into my shopping cart. However, most glass panels does not have the bezel around it, so I'm in a dilemma now.
Should I get get the glass and the housing, break the old glass, remove whatever parts required, fit into new housing and glass?
Much appreciated?
Is that original casing?

Possible to dye G2 Housing a different color?

Reason Im asking is today I left my G2 home in a pair of pants where I guess the inside of the pocket got dyed red by something. I took out my G2 and now it has a red hue to the grey housing. Got me thinking and then I found the video below. I know its not possible to paint the housing due to the "soft" material. So any ideas if this is possible?
I know there is a black housing of dz..I think is Australia version..can't find the link..but the price of the housing is fairly high.. original colour is easily available..but price vary..
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda app-developers app

Have you considered a rubberized paint? it might stick to the "soft touch" coating on our phones
Some of them are available in an aerosol can, spray out in very fine mists you can make a thin layer with.
you can get them in a variety of colours , but the spray on ones come in less varied shades ( the liquids you can mix pigments in)
They work well on tools in industrial environments, and grips and stuff. so i i think they would also give you more grip on the thing too ...

i think you can get the aerosol cans for like 3 bucks at a auto supply chain.
Just DONT get Undercoating or Ziebart Rubberized spray : they tend to contain tar and always remain semi gooey to repel water
