I installed it and now I want to remove it but when I do it says GTX Team GTX Sense 1.7.1 was not completely removed. do you want to remove it from the list of installed programs? I press yes and it still stays there any ideas I even deleted all its files from the phone that I could find
you have to hard reset your phone because the gtx sense mod changes some internal manila files. so back up all of your data then go to start > settings > system > clear storage

i was trying to uninstall the starview fallout theme 2.0 from my htc to go back to default theme, but each time i try to uninstall the theme, it said: "...was not completely removed. Do you want to remove it from the list of installed programs?"
even if i say YES, it still show on the list..now i'm stuck with this theme not matter what other theme i install after..
is there a way to fix this? which directory is the theme installed on the sd card, maybe i can manually delete the files that way to restore back to default theme?
I get this sometimes and I find out that installing the app again removes it (yes I said install). This worked for me many times over. Try this first.
thank you,this did work..strange haha

Go to File explorer and find the file where you download. click the file then it will tell you (The previous version of "name the file" will be removed before the new one is installed.) Select ok then select yes and click install ( don't worry, it will remove after restart) please check on application and make sure the file isn't there anymore!
hope this help!

i have the same prob, i dont know where to uninstall cookie's home tab, and get back the original home screen? please help!
tsk tsk tsk.. on the official Co0kie's Home tab thread it says in the Q&A
"Q: After uninstaling CHT, sense doesn't work, or it works but the home menu doesn't come up.
A: Copy \windows\home_pages.xml to \windows\manilaxml\home_pages.xml (overwrite existing file). Then delete \windows\manilafull.xml and soft reset."
I tuned of sense and then uninstalled CHT and the editor and turned sense back on and it just kept freezing.
and i remembered i was able to install and reinstall CHT 1.7.
so installed CHT 1.7 and tried uninstalling it and it still kept freezing.
and this is just ridiculous i don't know why it won't uninstall proplerly
First and foremost.. Please don't post a new thread asking a question on how to remove a software that has it's own support thread. Furthermore, if you INSIST on doing whatever you want regardless... Please provide more information - CHT version, ROM version, Manila version, etc.....
Now that being said... Since I don't know what version of CHT you are trying to uninstall, please ask your question in the appropriate thread:
CHT 1.8.5 = http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=625483
CHT 2.0.0 = http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=792303

CHECK YOUR PMs
apk not installed
What I did in your situation is that I transferred the APk to androidsdk/tools. I used command prompt to adb push the swipe apk, then I exit prompt. That worked for me.
Quick question. Probably obvious but i don't know.
When i install a new theme will i lose my modified build.prop?
btw i'm planning on installing the 928Droid deodexerrrrrrrr theme and then going back to the 928Droid stock deodexed theme, and then to Incognito

9/10 times.. themes do not affect build.props.
alright thanks. I just noticed when i unzipped the theme file to see what was in it, i saw a system folder with a build.prop file in it.
Now if the theme does change the build prop, can i just replace it with my modified build.prop file once the theme is installed?

FYI the build.prop change all depend on the person who put the theme together. Some have it while others do not. So it is best to look in the *.zip each time prior to installing.
As for your question about changing it after you did install a theme, YES you can. it will have no affect on the theme.
alright thanks.
Also while i got people's attention. What are the odds of bricking my phone when applying a theme? This is my first time doing this
these are the instructions i'm going on
droid-life said:
1. You need to be rooted.
2. You need to have run Koush’s Droid X Bootstrap.
3. You need to have the DeOdexEERR.zip file on your SD card.
4. Open Koush’s DX Bootstrap and boostrap the recovery before rebooting to it.
5. From there, go into “backup / restore” and create a backup.
6. Then choose “install zip from sd card.”
7. Choose “select zip to install” and find the DeOdexEERR.zip.
8. Say “yes” and your phone will deodex and apply the 928Droid theme.
9. Enjoy!

It is very possible. My best suggestion is backup with nandroid.. so if anything do go wrong. Just do a nandroid restore and it will be like nothing ever happened.

Guess it is a matter of opinion on what a brick is. A device stuck in a bootloop or on the M symbol is NOT a brick IMO. With that said as long as you have an nandroid backup and can get into recovery you can get it up and running. Plus with the actual SBF files posted for 2.1 & 2.2 now its very unlikely you'll brick it.
To me a bricked is a device that will no longer function AT ALL. And about the only way you are going to truly brick you device is if you start messing with the locked bootloader as I have seen in person one that is brick. And when I say brick I mean brick it will not even power on, charge, or have a light come on no matter what you do to it.
about to install a theme, but one more quick question.
I have removed skype and blockbuster apps using Titanium backup (not frozen, actually removed) and frozen a couple of other apps.
will this have any negative effects when installing the theme?
never mind. got my answer. I installed the theme and it just reinstalled some of the apps I'd frozen and/or removed

First of all, you don't need root to use transparent widgets or change your lockscreen. There's a thread full of transparent widgets here on xda. You do need root to use transparent versions of system apps. You can change your lockscreen by purchasing the app Widgetlocker or flashing a custom rom that comes with a different lockscreen. The lockscreens you generally see in screenshots are from WidgetLocker, though. It's a great app & fully customizable... more than worth the $3.
Before changing any system settings, you'll need to do a nandroid backup via your recovery. This way, if you change anything and it screws up, you can restore from a working backup. You can also use Titanium Backup to backup your apps & data.
But really, the first thing you need to do is read. Read all of the stickies in your device-specific forums. Read everything you can until you understand, if you don't you could end up doing damage to your phone.
Oh, and you may need to install busybox to get some root apps to work. You can acquire it through the busybox installer in the market, or Titanium Backup. In TB, hit menu, choose "problems?" then choose to install busybox.

It is not safe to move everything to your sd card. Widgets, launchers, and a lot of system apps are not okay to move. Don't move any kind of alarm either. Third party apps that aren't what I already mentioned should be fine to move. System apps that need to run constantly are not okay. If you don't know what it is, don't move it. Stuff like the calculator would be fine. The phone app wouldn't. Plus, and I could be wrong, but moving system apps does not give more room for third party apps, but gives more space to the system partition. I could be way off, so you may want to look into that.

Hmmmph, well it worked fine for me before I was rooted. I installed modded apks all the time, just not of system apps. It may have helped to uninstall first then install the new app. Since what makes the widget transparent is stored in a res/drawable folder in the apk, it could've been the apk that you downloaded. Or I guess it could've been the method of installation. As I said, worked fine for me.

You should be fine moving third party apps as long as they don't have widgets that you use. If you're using a third party launcher like ADW or LauncherPro, don't move that. Other than that you should be okay.
If you're having a hard time downloading apps from the market, try going into settings, applications, manage applications, then choose the "all" tab. Find the market app and force stop it. Then clear cache & clear data, then relaunch the app. That should help. If not, you can try using AppBrain along with Fast Web Installer to download apps from the market. I've found this method to actually be faster for me. If you can't get to the market to download the apps, let me know & I'll post the apks for you. Once you've downloaded the Fast Web Installer, you need to open it & follow the instructions to allow it to install apps for you.
Flashing a custom rom might fix your problems as well.
Oh, and no worries, I'm always happy to help out. This community has done great things for me - I try to give back when I can
