thanx ver much

I hope you're trolling or this is a joke...otherwise you may very well be the worst poster I've ever seen.
There aren't definitive instructions on how to port, you need development knowledge in C++ and Java for the NDK and SDK respectively.
Lol dude, figure a way to write the drivers first, then come back to me and we can port it together.
funny man but how this project is done Andromnia ?????????????
It just ported the OS. Barely anything works on it because drivers haven't been written for it. That means no calling, weak battery life, innacurate touch input etc etc. Sorry, but Android will never see the light of day on the Omnia.
You want android buy an android phone yeesh.

to a point i agree
some news about porting Android?

I have not returned kaiser in the hope of being able to install Google's Android OS on kaiser. Hardware is great, but software/drivers suck.
It should be fairly easy because its open source and the first phone that HTC is bringing out is supposed to have the same processor.
Your thoughts?
I'm hoping that becomes a reality. Open source development would open up the floodgates! Imagine TouchFLO with an OpenGL 3D environment.... can't wait to see what happens here.

Well Leopard does run on my PC now *Cough*
If Android is open source, I don't see why someone with compiler knowledge couldn't make it run on any ARM based handheld...
Because booting an OS kernel requires extensive access to hardware specifications, wich is not what Androïd is about at all.
The Android SDK is now available. They have also announced that they're giving away $10 million to developers that build apps for the platform. More info here:
http://www.openhandsetalliance.com/developers.html
There's also a video of Android up on YouTube now:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FJHYqE0RDg
For an early prototype this looks amazing.
now that the SDK is out, I will probably end up eating my own words in the next few months, assuming people on here get the appropriate hardware drivers for the kaiser from HTC.
Terrific
This Andoid is a very killer OS, a lot better than the crappy WM-X, Please HTC port it to Kaiser, if not, we can create a community for build a distribution based on android for the Kaiser.
Regards,
Taguapire
I would too like to see this new Android OS be brought to the Kaiser. If I understand correctly, they are providing all assets to the public with the SDK.
Yes your right

I would love to have beryl on pocket pc. I've been waiting for years since I first saw beryl on youtube. The closest thing we have is the HTC Cube. Can't wait .
Theres talk of this all over xda-developers.
One guy is calling people to work on it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=344076&highlight=android
And here's another thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=343730&highlight=android
I sure would like to see this happen. Since HTC is a partner in the open handset alliance I could see them releasing drivers for it. ... maybe...
Problem is - OS source or not, the hardware specs for many of the ICs in the Kaiser (esp. the Qualcomm MSM) are not publically available, which means that it isn't possible to write a driver for them.
This is why, for example, the Linux ports to previous HTC devices are (relatively) crippled - drivers for parts of the hardware can't be written because the hardware specs are not available.
Ah. That makes a lot of sense. Thanks for shedding some light on this issue, Entropy512.
cant see why you can't just take the msm7200 chipset specs off of the qualcomm site and build something. I mean it has generic arm processors and the other information should be able to gleaned from the windows app itself(radios,etc..)

Nope Compiz....... Hehe
In fact the radio processor (ARM9) already runs a linux like rtos: L4 micro kernel and Iguana embedded OS. See here and here.
I think the chances might be relatively good:
1. HTC has announced they are building android based phones.
2. For the next year or so, chances are that available phone hardware is gonna be pretty much the same as what is available today (give or take).
So it follows that there are good chances that HTC will do most of the work for us. They introduce a new P4551 running Android, you guys do your ROM ripping magic, and take all the various drivers and introduce it into a generic Android ROM. Voila! Android on the Kaiser.
That said, who says Android hardware support on HTC devices is going to be any better than hardware support for WM6? HTC has already proved you can release a phone for a mature platform, with plenty of history, using almost no hardware acceleration for anything. Who says Android phones from HTC will be any better in that respect?
Cool OS
This is a very cool OS. I'm sure some of our great coders around XDA DEVELOPERS can come up with all kinds of ways to use this on many different phones. If they get the money more power to them. They deserve it. At least in my nubee opinion!
Hi
Is there a working Android distr. for the Advantage X7510? and if so where can I find it
Thanks...
No there is not.
How about dual boot.
I have not tried it or read it up yet, but it looks promising.
Gen.Y DualBOOT v1.0.6.0[W|Q|VGA][CAB|EXT]
Have fun!
Edit:
This one seems important too:
[prj][XDANDROID][android.2.0.1|2.1][31.5.10]2.1 AOSP system update
I'll love to dump Windows Mobile and install Android 2.1 in our Athenas
Thanks for the reply, but I still cant figure out which one to use....
i'm learning how to put everything together as we speak.
once i get everything working i'll write a step by step guide for our phone, but for now lets keep our fingers crossed
i'm tired of WM6/7 looking forward to use Android 2.1 as the default OS, specially now that the market is mostly Google vs. Apple (iphone vs. Aphones [Android phones])
Windows Mobile is being left in the dust, as well as Palm and other phone OSes.
HTC already has many Android 2.1 phones on the market, so it's simple logic to follow that direction as most of the drivers should be compatible, even if it's not some one will be able to help and develop a driver for "Linux" Android.
Nice....
I am looking forward to see what you have made.
Android for X7510
I too am waiting for this major improvement to my X7510 device. Looking forward to testing for you anytime. Just let me know when you're ready!
Cheers,
Van
Reviving the Advantage X7510 ...
Hi,
I've put my X7510 aside for some months waiting for something better than WM!
Android seems to be up to the task, but, it seems not much is being done for this excellent phone ...
Anyone has any updates in that regard?
Thanks to all,
AAA
The purpose of this thread is to discuss the possibilities of getting Android up and running on the HD Mini.
A word to the wise…porting Android is NOT easy, it took almost 1 year to get an (almost) fully working port for the HTC Touch Pro, and there were a LOT of really good Linux developers spending TONS of time on it. (The preceding sentence was paraphrased from this post by TheDeadCpu.)
***There have been many threads opened on this topic…and most of them have been merged with this thread. So let’s keep the discussion located on THIS thread…new threads opened on this topic will be closed, deleted or merged without warning. Me to!! Can't live with what's in the HD Mini, but most certainy I can live with the hardware. Anybody knowing how to androidize it?
I bought HD mini due to the outlook, size and weight!
Legend have poor taste and the shape is not good to store in pocket.
Frankly, WM is more easy to copy and edit the Word/Excel files from PC and I can check some files out of office easily.
And I just seek for any solutions for multi-boot with Android OS as Android looks better and I just want to try it and need not to buy another phone.
Cos I have one iPhone already, too many mobile phones~
When the evo rom arrives, it will be ported to hd2. I find it logical that it will be a android powered hd mini in the future. Then, it would be rather easier than now to create a custom android rom for hd mini But I should stick to reality.
The dual boot app for winmo devices isn't written for hd minis hvga resolution.
But hey, the diamond 2 or touch pro 2 does not have a android twin to take a rom from. I will put up a request for hd mini support for the android dual boot app.
The hd mini would have been a great android device!
Sorry for bad English.
Thanks gingerviking! I agree that the hardware is made for Android rather than wm6.5. I cross my finger for a rapid solution - WM is just not for me anymore..
Good news is that a genious has managed to get the linux bootloader to work on hd2 and playing a 720p video. An Android port will soon come to hd2 even without the evo rom
Hopefully the kernel system on hd2 isn`t all that different from the hd mini
Well. We're all looking forward to see a genious hacker who cares about the hd mini and android. =)
Don't know if it will work but you guys could give it a try cause it runs via haret:
w w w _dot_ neopeek.com/en/stories/android/75-update-android-fuer-htc-blackstone-diamond-tilt-raphael-rhodium-topaz-fuze
@XDA-Mods: after months of waiting! when will you update my account?
Anything else besides android that you guys might want??? how about some cookies along with it? lol if you wanted android why did you bought a windows mobile based device?? cause of haret? if you want android on your hd2 mini, yould need a working linux kernel, then you can worry about android, and its not that easy im not going over this again im tired of explaining to noobs that android is not a a program that you can simply install...it dosnt work that way.

I hate you. Htc!
I have great news for all you people living in the US: Like the evo 4g with sprint(android version of hd2). At&t have released the htc aria, a true android clone of the hd mini. Just google it for more info.
Yes and, unfortunately for us, HTC Aria will be, and nowadays is, available only for USA market...
I want it in Italy!!!!!! Or maybe... someone which could "do" a complete Android ROM for the HD Mini, based on the Aria!?!?!? I wish it! I really want it...!
Because HD Mini is so pocketlly beautiful!!!!
its a company fault
we have went to market to get it and it was WM and now they have released HD Mini with Anderiod ,
so it is who's fault,
i hope anyone can give info how to get the rom of android for our hd mini (old) one

But it seems back in 2008 there was a demo that shows that it is possible: "Non-touchscreen Android Phone Demoed at CTIA"
But why you want that "dirty" walk around? I like WM6.1 very much!

Yes and no is not an answer its a strange response. The answer is it has been done but most developers here prefer working on high end phones.
Take a look at this post, Motorola just brought out a phone that does exactly that. As for popular non touch WM phones like Samsung S7550 and HTC snap.. they are just waiting for someone who wants some recognition and is not scared of the challenge.
http://www.androidpeople.com/worlds-first-non-touch-android-phone/
As for your comment on WM 6.1, its the most app unfriendly system around making developnent difficult. Just try android and you will see what i mean.
To the Chefs: get ready, nontouch android should be with us soon if one of you hasn't already gotten hold of a build.
Somebody have now B7330 with android OS?
It is possible to make this?
Thnks.
What are possible (custom) roms, please advice :good:
It's a old phone but there must be nice rom's & apps for it, or not?
so please give you're opinion about this B7330 Samsung Phone!!

Well at least you got the first part right...you are being a noob. Lol
Windows and android run on different architectures, so android on arm, and windows on Intel etc
So no, there is no way atm. Unless windows 8 (when it arrives) is truly compatible on arm architecture.
