I have tried Timolol's WM6.5 and...I forgot the other...and this one was good for awhile but it's getting insanely buggy.
If you like the ROM you're on, and have been on it for a bit, then point me in the direction. I'd really like to use 6.5 but if I can't find a stable one, then I'll have to revert back to 6.1
Thanks
Energy Roms
DaG's WM6.5 21518 Clean ROM without MSVC is working very well for me.
Learn how to use UC and proper backup tools and then you can flash away and try as many roms as you want!
This is such an open ended question because many people have personal preference.
with that said. I would recommend NRG's EnergyROM, very stable 6.5, been using the june 30th version with a couple minor cosmetic issues, which i do not even remember what they are.
EnergyROM works also great and stable for me.
My experience was different from most those posting here. I found the 6.5's buggy. Third party calendar programs are particularly problematic (reoccuring events not even showing, to name one problem). I wanted to like the EnergyROM's... really I did... but alas, I went back to 6.1. So far, I'm experiencing stability with NATF v4.7 and liking it. I won't go back to the stock ROM.

Hi, have used PROven_ROM_2.4_WWE_Manila_TP (it's WM6.1) - very good,stable and fast.
Then got Energy 3.0 50409a MSVC Raph (wM6.5) and I'm absolutely happy with it. Didn't encountered any problem so far, NRG28 does his ROM's in top level-very professional!
If you want a clean ROM with very little battery usage go with RRE's or Da_G's for absolutely stock. NRG's uses way too much battery, I enjoy charging once every 2-3 days rather than once a day but to each his own..
The most stable and bug free ROM is the latest HTC official ROM. As Da_G said in other thread, there are serious issues in 6.5, so there is no such thing as stable 6.5 ROM - eventually you will face with unnacceptable bugs, like some of XDA members did...
Like what? I don't see many if any bugs that hinder my day to day activities in 6.5, it runs smoother, it's sleeker and unreleased to the public giving it that extra "shimmer", and the built in scrolling effects are just amazing.
What bugs are you speaking of??
WHAT???
pilgrim011- There is a bug free version of WM?
When did that happen?
I too like the energyroms.
I put my crap battery life down to not having found a decent UK T-mob radio yet rather than the rom

I was on the 6 hour flight and decided to play with the phone a bit out of boredom. It was locked up.
No problem soft reset. Continued to lock-up.
No problem, PIM Backup, Hard reset. Then the keyboard would not switch to ABC from 123.
No problem, switch to another SIP. It would hold the change; it kept switching back to the ROM default. No problem, just use the hardware keyboard. A couple of great days in Ireland and it was time to take a quick phone pic to send home. Camera would not work; missed the moment. Fiddled with it a bit, could not get it to work.
No problem, hard reset and try again. Camera works now, keyboard seems to have fixed itself, but phone turns off randomly.
No problem, flash another ROM I have on my storage card. Everything works now except the phone. It has a signal for 5 minutes, then no signal for 5 minutes, over and over.
No problem, switch to manual network selection, could not access the settings.
No problem, hard reset. Works fine now. Ready to take a quick picture at a golf outing where I did not lug my Nikon around. Phone has turned itself off again, missed the moment. Time to surf up some quick directions, IE locks-up.
No Problem, switch to Opera, takes forever to load, my sister already has the directions on her damn iPhone before opera even loads.

OK, don't get me wrong, there are things that I don't like - low in-call volume, TF3D is sometimes behaving weird etc., but there is always a .cab or .reg to solve these issues, and to tell you the truth, there are no serious issues with HTC ROM, phone is stable and solid as a rock. Of course, Energy ROMs are way faster and more pretty than official ROMs, but I prefer my battery life, stability etc. over speed, beauty and bugginess... And I don't want to flash my phone every 5 days.
Fair enough pilgrim011
Btw has anyone found a work around for the word completion on the keyboard that actually works regardless of wm version???
For what its worth I love/hate wm6.5- I hate that everyone now thinks that we have to have icons because we are too thick to use menus, if I really was that thick I would have purchased an iphone!!!

I recommend the fastest bestest most stable rom out there.
and I thought the reason we have all those iphone-alikes was so we could be almost cool enough to have an ibone. err.. iphone.

Get swype...legally..
nice^^ gonna try it now
Hmm...3mb download or the version I already have that is only 3mb installed.... I bet it doubles in size by the time it is installed. I'll try anyway though
I stand corrected, its just a little over 4mb installed.
I DL it and its ok. its better than the normal keyboard IMO but the whole swypin thing will take some time to get use to
yeah ive been playing with swype for a couple of weeks now and i really do like it more than the stock htc. its much less laggy in my experience^^ and might be like a couple of seconds faster, and im a pretty fast typer if i get going at it =P
I've been using since the first leaked versions and love it, don't even remember how to type with the stock keypad anymore. My main gripe is that thewords you add to the user dictionary don't stay after a reboot. And I swear a lot in texts....so getting duck instead of f*ck blows...other than that, it does come up with some random words and abbreviations some times

lol i so hear you on that one, its my one and only gripe >.<
doesnt seem to work on my rooted hero. it says when I open it "some features may not work since it is for a different phone". the leaked beta worked perfectly so IDK.
I noticed the not saving dictionary thing too, but wonder if that was just the leaked versions. Just installed the beta, haven't cursed yet so hasn't been added. They seem to be moving pretty quick dev-wise, and this is much more polished and seemingly faster than the leaked versions.
looks better than the leaked version... i wonder how many people they're giving this to and how many times it can be downloaded

This happened to me as well, however I think it may have just been a bad installation and/or due to the fact I had the leaked beta version installed prior to installing this one even though I uninstalled it first. I uninstalled both swype and the application installer then rebooted my phone then reinstalled the swype installer and then swype and all is working now and I didn't get that error message.

works fine on GBHils 2.1a rom.
Agreed, no problems on Gumbo 2.1
No problems on DarchDroid v1.
I have used it for an hour now. and this is awesome. I will def purchase when it comes out..
basically everytime you install a new version of swype (leaked OR Official) you MUST uninstall the old version first through settings>manage applications
i installed swype last night. Got the email downloaded. Havenot even used it for a day and now its not working telling me to buy the full version?????
Lame
so now that there is a froyo leak out for our phones, is it stable enough to update to it? i was thinking of going for the cognition v2.2 froyo, but obviously dont want a ton on unreliability problems lol...so whats the status on that?
I can't speak to cognition, but I have been running Froyo since it came out a few days ago (no root or lagfix) and it seems fine. Some have complained about lag - if it is there, it is not near as bad as stock 2.1. Others have said the browser has a memory leak - i have not run into that yet either.
Overall the plusses outway the minuses. I am happy with it so far. I have not had any crashes or FCs and the GPS is no worse then JH7. Unless i find a show stopper issue, I will keep it for now.
oh cool, so is it a final release of froyo or was it just a beta leak?

I would call it Beta. There is still stuff that looks like they ported the i9000 Rom over and they still need to do a little clean up. Some EU spellings of things, some minor bugs, Wireless AP and USB tether are present.
I think this is the 2.2 Captivate Base that they will build from. A solid Beta, but not the final.
It has been running fine for me. Once Rom Manager gets updated things will be great. Only AppsInstaller doesn't work for me but its not really that big of a deal.
This FROYO is actually very stable in that everything works perfect.............Have been running for 24 hrs barely so theres a bit more testing needed but yea its definately a GO . At first i got a couple of force closes on several of stock apps like music, phone, and a couple of others but only happend once and never happen again kind of like if it was still setting up or something but besides that and some odd color changes 2.2 is stunning i notice an overall snappier feel market 2x quiker (i dont use lag fix because it ruinned my OS a few times thats just me) and with root enabled the limitations are infinate
I've only been using it for half the day, but I have to say that samsung fixed most of the little annoying problems with this phone. We finally got the phone we paid for with the exception of lag. It's still there, but the one click lag fix solves that. All in all,i recommend the update. Especially with cognition.
cognition 2.2
I'm running the most recent release of Cognition 2.2 for Froyo with the built in one click lag fix. (Even though I really didn't even need to run the lag fix, its that smooth) It is sick. Phone is just silky smooth in all aspects. The only thing I noticed was that flash was slowing the browser down a little, but only on super large pages with tons of plug ins like huffingtonpost so I set the plug in setting to "on demand" and now I can't find a page large enough to slow down the browser. I put it next to my friends new Iphone4 and it was embarassing how much faster the Captivate was loading pages. Only things that arent working on 2.2 yet are titanium backup, which you really shouldnt use for this anyway since you don't want to install 2.1 apps on the 2.2 update, and Rom manager, but I fully expect that with the level of support we've seen from the Rom dev, he will have it updated in no time as well as an update for Titanium. Overall, I almost feel for the first time that I no longer need to scour the forums looking for ways to improve the phone. It is just sick (have I said how sick it is?) how well it runs with Cognition. GPS works perfectly, and I don't mean just getting locks. I put it on my dash and have been driving around a lot for two days and My Tracks is right on. My position does not drift off the road AT ALL anymore. No more being on other streets and otherwise just drifting around all nilly willy. GPS Test shows at least 6 or 7 locked satellites and usually 9 or 10 locked. I don't think I would get better performance out of a Garmin or Tom Tom. It does get better sat locks on the dash with a clear view of the sky rather than in the cup holder in the center console however, but that is to be expected with any GPS device. Even so, it was still fully functional in the cupholer.
I installed by Odin one click back to stock, did a GSM Master Reset via the phone keypad *2767*3855# then rooted, put the downloaded Cognition 2.2 file on my internal sd card, and then installed with Rom Manager, (works because I'm back on 2.1 at this point) I HIGHLY recommend this. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with all the spare time I just freed up by not having to flash my phone a million more times
P.S. If you can, donate a few bucks to DesignGears for the work he has done with this. It's totally worth it! It's amazing that he's gotten a ROM out so fast with the release and he is constantly working on, upgrading, and tweaking his work to make it better. (which is why im sure I'll be flashing again in the future /cry)

Go to pocketnow.com (full desktop version) and click through a few articles there. Muhahaha. Scrolling will become ultra slow, other apps will be forced out of memory, and you may even get a browser crash if you're lucky. That's the memory leak bug.

Go to the site and open your task manager. Is the browser not using about 100 MB of memory? Memeory leak.
The FroYo build is stable and fast. I like it.
I rolled back. It is stable - but some of the underlying features are broken. Forwarding emails does not include any comments you make. Google contact groups now work, but the listed names map to the wrong contacts.
Some nice improvements overall, but some issues are show stoppers for me. It won't crash though - or at least it didn't for me.
Has anyone tried enabling jit on this? I know it was attempted on 2.1 but no one made it past the lock screen before it bootlooped on the galaxy s. 2.2 is made for jit & it should be more stable now right? All I could find in the forums is how to do this for other phones like the droid x (sounds pretty unstable though) & im too much of a noob to figure out how to apply that to my captivate to try it.

Froyo has been pretty stable for me, and certainly better overall than 2.1 was. It still needs work to have what I would call a well-polished feel, but overall I find it to be an upgrade.
I'm hoping it is a beta, and we'll get an even better one soon

JIT is already enabled.
I am still using Primordial 3.1 which is one of the first ROM's released for the Transformer.
I see now there are others, such as Revolver and PRIME!
However, upon reading some things in their threads, people seem to be having some random issues here and there. Like Google bookmark issues and FC's during Quadrant tests.
Primordial seems pretty stable, don't really have any FC's going on. What are you guys still running?
I know ROM's might have been improved since the first one, and can make my Transformer operate more powerfully, but I am just cautious of the issues going on with both ROM's out there kinda.
i use prime 1.5.. it works really well
quadrant is not worth even using, so dont install it. the scores dont matter so it doesnt matter if it FCs
Using Prime 1.6. It's pretty snappy and fast, and I haven't had any issues. I've also tried Clemys's rom (I totally spelled that wrong but..) and it keep rebooting my tab randomly, even when not in use. I watched it reboot 10 times on my desk without me even touching it. Never tried Magnus's roms, as I hate the font nor Revolver.
Oh, and Prime and Primordial are both made by Roach. He dropped Primordial though.
Using Revolver 1.0.1 right now and moderately pleased. Came from stock 3.1 rooted since it was so easy.
Minor problems: I'm seeing the freeze when the screen times out. ie. it won't wake back up. I may just have setcpu configured wrong, however. I'll figure that out tonight.
Still waiting for the real work with ICS, of course.

Yeah, didn't have the profile set right. That issue is now gone and I'm about to go to 1.1. Still recommended.
I've been using swype since it came out for my captivate, but I seem to be having to correct about every third word since the last couple of updates... It seems that it has been getting less accurate. Does anyone else feel this way? I remember back in the day I only had to correct maybe 1 in every 10 words. Maybe they have added more uncommon words to the dictionary? It's getting very frustrating for me.
nah, you're just getting complacent.

I have only used Swype keyboard with the Skyrocket ROMs and didn't use it for long because it corrected my typing too much and incorrectly compared to other keyboards. Seems like it tries to force its will on you!
Voice works better anyway, especially now with ICS. If I am somewhere I have to type things out I just do it all manually.
Yes I noticed the change in accuracy, tweaking the Swype settings has helped some.

I bumped it to 100% accuracy over speed, but it does correct me way too much. Was better 2 years ago!
I totally agree. I have been using swype for a few years now and it definitely worked better in earlier version IMO. I have moved the slider up and down for accuracy but its never any better. The one thing that drives me nuts the most is when it confuses "some" for "done". Even if I hold the "s" down for a second until it vibrates and swype out "S-O-M-E", half the time it still writes "done". Makes me want to throw my phone out the window sometimes.
i find it learns my mistakes deleting your saved dictionary helps. or touch keyboard is what i use
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Agree!
I agree. While it was working fine a year ago on my S2, with every new version the accuracy declined. Or maybe their prediction model has changed, because obvious and frequently used words seem to be at the end of the word suggestion box.
I know I'm a bit late...
I know I'm a bit late to this thread, but I've noticed this too. Went from my LG Optimus to my LG Elite, and I assume that the swype version changed between those phone releases. The newest version on my Elite is pretty dreadful. I also notice having to correct every few words. Kinda kills the advantage of using Swype. WTH did they change in moving forward to cripple it so much?
Don't suppose there's a way to revert to previous versions?

I just updated to the latest beta, way better than it was in the last version. go download it!
I'm super late to this thread, but yes, Swype has grown worse and worse over the years. I first used it with my HTC Magic, something like 6 or 7 years ago now! And I've had several devices between now and then. Each time the swyping experience has grown worse. More and more incorrect word predictions, more and more incorrect auto corrects. Really bizarre word corrections too. Words I've never used, or would never used, are offered as a correction, but they are several letters away from what I want. And if only one letter changed it would be correct! Frustrating to say the least! I would love to switch to Google's "swype" keyboard, but I will miss the whole word erase feature of Swype (holding backspace to erase a whole word).
