I have a new RAPHAEL and do get no fix...I installend Quickfix and tried much but there is no fix ?
Any idea which can help - please ....!
Thanks

first fix can take a while. Make sure you are outside and leave the phone switched on with google maps or another app that uses gps. This can take over 10 mins before a lock is obtained. Quickfix is already installed on the device - no need to install?!
called QuickGPS (not QuickFix)
yep, same here just leave the device searching somewhere near a window or outside...it takes a while for the first one.
Really ...but how long 1 hour or more ????
Another question - I used the diamond tweak and after it the Rapha is faster but is there any other tweak which will fit better than he one for the Diamond ?
Does anyone know how to get the beamer at the right side thicker in order to scroll down ...

YOur first fix should aquire in under 20 mins provided that you are not inside your house and/or not surrounded by tall buildings. What application are you trying to get a fix with? If its google maps, you should see a series of dots followed by the number of satelites. The number represents the number of satilites that is using to get a fix, and therefore it will stay at 0 until it finds your position. There are also some tools on this forum that let you check the gps status discussed in this thread! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=420933
ardsar - google maps is saying: 0 number of satelites.
I`m using "GPS Test" also and there I gt 3-4 yellow signs but in GoogleMaps itis only searching ....
It is really not my first ppc and many before wokd very well but here ???
Any other idea ?
Just go outside (take it on your next car trip to wherever) and use gps test or Google maps. At first I thought something was wrong with my gps but it just took a VERY long time (15 min - 20 min) to find my first fix. After finding my first fix, the next time I used the gps it seemed to find a fix faster. My bluetooth gps receiver I use for my other pda is 1000x better than the GPS in this device (it can find a fix within a building!). So just be patient. The touch pro will eventually find a fix. The gps is so far the worse thing I dont like about the touch pro (oh and no 3G support for North America).

3-4 yellow bars indicates that you are receiving data from 4 satelites, but have yet to get a fix. The device needs to download almanac data from the satelite which tells it where the sats are in orbit. Only then can it work out where you are. If you have a week signal or are in a building as suggested before, this signal can be very week and once it loses the data stream, it has to start again. It is important for you to be outside to get a good first lock and be patient, it will happen.
It is working - thanks so much for your help !!!

A lot of people have problems with the TouchPro GPS especially for pedestrian use...
From stock the TP GPS is quite unsable in car especially with TomTom 7 and totally unusable for pedestrian use.
After 2 weeks of reading and testing tweaks, here are the results of my tests and the applied tweaks to enhance the GPS performance
A. With Advanced config 3.2 http://www.touchxperience.com/fr/ou...ads/9-advanced-configuration-tool-32-cab.html
1. disable A-GPS
2. disable GPS logging
3. logfile name must be empty
4. old logfile name must be empty
5. maximum size of logfile must be 0
6 delete the files : \windows\GPSLogFile.txt and \windows\GPSLogFileBack.txt
7. it seems that if TomTom is installed on a fast microSD decrease the lag(have to test to be sure)
With those changes car usage will be quite perfect
B. Then edit registry with TotalCommander http://ghisler.fileburst.com/ce/tcmdpocketarm.cab
Under: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\
- Drivers\GpsOneDevice\PollInterval -> 100 (default is 1000)
- Drivers\InputBufferSize -> 512 (default is 4096)
- Drivers\OutputBufferSize -> 512 (default is 4096)
- Drivers\SleepOnNoData -> 100 (default is 1000)
- Multiplexer\MaxBufferSize -> 512 (by default not present, you have to create it)
Tests to be done with buffers at 256...seems to be a little better
Tests to be done with other PollInterval value...seems to "drain" battery
With those tweaks pedestrian usage will be much better but not perfect...I explain.
You have to walk for a least 250m in order to have a reposition with mouvement on the map (before that, speed is always 0km/h) and then if you continue to walk there is quite no lag...and the speed reflect reality
...BUT if you stops you have to walk again for a least 250m in order to have a reposition with mouvement on the map and then if you continue to walk there is quite no lag...
Very strange indeed...
I hope this will help people...please test and feedback.
PS : tests were done with

I noticed GPS problems yesterday with Route66. Havent have time to test GPS lot before, just checked that it can find satellites and really works with Route66.
First while driving, Route66 got fix to satellite pretty quickly, but drop it then after couple seconds. Then couple secods of lag, again found satellites, couple seconds ok, drops again. This keeps going over no matter what, moving or staying stopped.
I then did soft-reset, no help. Then tried Google Maps with GPS, that worked no prob. After using Google Maps I returned to Route66 and strangely satellite fix was ok...
This might be just random satellite fix problem, but strange enough

Many of us have/had that issue so I can confirm you Its a device issue, not a satellite situation. The registry tweaks minimize that problem but I hope HTC solves the problem in his next driver/radio rom/... and the users hasnt to tweak their devices (95% of the users probably will never read this forum and they dont know how to "tweak" their devices
Thanks for sharing. I 'll check it.
Thank you!
I applied all the patches, my TP still doesn't want to find the sattelites...
F.....g hell!!! I tried anything, and morning I've got a fix with 5 satellites in 20secs,so it looks nice(yesterday evening I did the tweaks). But after 4 hours it can see 1-2 satellites, sometimes 3,very rarely 4 under blue sky. So 2 hours of my travelling from city-to-city I didn't get a fix! Co do pici s tym je!!??(sorry for slovak lng,but I cannot speak it english, because so wrong words english language doesn't have). I bought an useless technology and HTC is rolling on the floor laughing, how the customer is stupid. F..k them all with their technologies. Another thing is wifi...no comment is better. I will maybe buy an crazy Eten with Sirf3 and HTC with their stupid Qualcomm can go to hell. For what are all the technologies here, when they are working <20% of time? I am so angry on HTC,so when my kind of device will appear,I will immediately sell the Raph.

For those how have still problems
1. Hard reset
2. Applied the tweaks
3. Download last QuickGPS
4. Install TomTom

Did all that and the bloody phone is still not getting a fix on satellites...
I am confused in other way...
Why it does lock the satellites in 30seconds and it sees 8 sats.and few hours after it has problem with seeing 3 of them at the same place with same weather conditions? I believe, that tomorrow(when I will not needed to have the fix, anyway I will try it) will fix the satellites ASAP. Do the Raphael have a status-sensor,that knows,if I need it right now or not? That's my opinion, while it doesn't work, when I need it and works when I testing it...
I will s..t on whole GPS technology and I will trust the plain maps as before(unfortunately, that costs me some money/energy that I spend for that).
Totally amazing
This is just amazing. Thank you!
Now I get a fix in 10-15 seconds. Earlier it took several minutes... totally amazing...

tried this also and been driving around for almost an hour without results is that enough patience?
hmm, my gps was working normally, applied these patches and nothing changed..still working normally (no lags etc.)
Applied all the patches except one (I kept A-GPS on), and after testing with iGo it's working like a charm. With the latest QuickGPS data downloaded, it can still take - seconds to get a fix, but the positioning is accurate (no more 100-200m lag), the devices sees 4-6 satellites in the Belgian sky, and the navigation is finally usable on the Touch Pro. I'll make regular checks in the coming days and I'll report the results. Thanks for the tweaks!
With A-GPS enabled the GPS works great. I had it in my pocket with GPS tuner running while running in a forrest and he didn't lose my position and no lag. The problem: with A-GPS enabled TT7 loses the fix every second. Like 1 sec there is a fix, next there is not. And it keeps doing that. When I disable A-GPS it takes way longer to get a fix with TT7 but it holds the fix.
Tip: driving around makes it harder for the gps to get a fix.
gps problem
hi, i recently bought htc touch pro & i am facing problem to download gps on my phone could someone help me regarding this matter step by step.
thankx
I know we are all hit and miss with the GPS, but after following a couple of tips out there GPS locks on Google Maps in 10-15 seconds, finally! And it tracks beautifully as well. These are older tips, but it is this combo that seems to work wonders!
I followed this...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427888
(but change dPollInterval to 500 and MAxBufferSize at 256)
and...
GPS hardware settings:
Prgram port is COM4, no hardware port, and baud rate is 4800. I could not find the website that I got this info from so forgive me for not crediting you!
Google Maps is configured to let Windows manage my GPS.
After the GPS is "warm" it tracks in what relatively feels like an instant now! And it might just be me but it seems to find more satellites. I have a Fuze on ATT.
theres a bajillion fixes on here for gps. its just gonna have different results. easy thing to do is update radio to 1.12. though if you do that, dont change the poll interval from 1000 to 500. i found thats a bad thing in combination with it.
download the at&t test rom......fixed my GPS issues. Now I get a lock within 10 seconds.
the link above method works best when deltete gps log files and disable agps and using gps test software

hmm

You can find it on blownfuze.org, but most of the newer roms have the aGPS fixed, so it is a lot easier to get GPS fixes
This is usual thread all over net..
I have problem, a big one... Every cooked rom I have tried works great but GPS dont work. Fix takes 15 - 20 min quickgps updates normaly but no fix... with original rom and quickgps updated fix is under 30sec but i have problem with touch screen on original ROM. so i have spend 15 days of experimenting, flashing various roms, radios but no luck....
interesting is that when i connect external gps antena with amplifier i get fix around 1 - 2min.... then it works with integrated, but 2 hours later same problem...
Kaiser130 is my device
tried roms: shifu v1 & v2 basic & full, Dutty's WM6.1, REV_ROM_V8, SimpleOsManila, AtheneOS....
also i have tried exporting registry branch from original rom for quickgps and copyed quickgps files over but no luck.
no luck
I have used almost all of these roms and my lock is in 2-3 minutes. 1st, make sure you are using the recommend radio. If you use the wrong Radio, you will never get a lock. Also make sure it is not just your area; if there are only a few sat's then the GPS module in the phone will take for ever for a lock.

C'Mon dude really... 3rd post and you come out dropping bombs like "every" and "it's the usual" and "a problem... a big one"
I have used many different ROMs here too and have not had a single issue with GPS working!
I think "every" and "usual" is disrespectful to the cooks here and that your issue is likely hardware (hence your comment about it working w/ an external ant) or possibly between the screen and the seat
have you tried gpstest to check your com ports and then set it manually?
I also had the same issues
already changed the com port and radio from 1.65.16.25 until 1.70.19.09 (KAISER Radio)
As u see raf1987 has same problem as me, yesterday I have tried original HTC WWE 6.1 rom but with same result.
I dont mean to disrespect cooks, and dont see what is problem with me having 3 posts??
k2rolla503 Yes I have tried gpstest, nonigps plot.... they find satelites but no fix 1 to 4 satelites all time but no fix.. signall strength is normal in all roms (graphicaly to me).
I too have the same problem.
I find the GPS fixes to be very flaky. I've used both the ROMs from Laurentius up through V10 and now using Phoenix II.3.
Laurentius ROMs I found I had much faster lock time if I downloaded the ephimeral file right before I used my GPS. We are talking 24 hours between uses. This could mean the difference between a 2 minute lock and a 20 minute lock. I've never gotten GPSTest to show me anything other than starting...
On Phoenix II.3, the ephimeral file only last for 3 days instead of 7 like Laurentius. Once I saw the fastest lock in my life ever on this ROM, it literally must have locked in 15-30 seconds. I have never seen it do that again. Currently it's taking me a good 10-20 minutes to lock on average. I have to start up my GPS 10 minutes before I go anywhere just to get it warmed up.
I've also tried fiddling with the assisted GPS setting on both ROMs. I found that with Laurentius the fix is slightly faster. On Phoenix I haven't noticed any real difference in getting a fix aGPS vs GPS. Nor do I find it assists in tunnels.
The only thing that really bothers me about aGPS is that I get that dialup connection dialog that says it fails to connect every time I use TomTom. I have to hit dismiss before it appears to start trying to get a fix. I've tried reapplying the connection settings for AT&T, that didn't seem to help much. It is super annoying.
In the end, GPS does work, but like the OP, I found that my fixes were consistently faster on the stock ROM than the cooked ROMs. I too mean no disrespect and I appreciate the hard work that goes in to each and every one of these ROMs even if I don't use them. I too like the OP just want my fix to be as fast as those claimed here and elsewhere. It can be frustrating to hear about these fast lock times and have to suffer with long lock times. It's especially annoying to me because I travel for business a lot and find that I am now nearly half way to my destination before I finally get a lock.
While I may not have many posts, I do follow these forums regularly. I hope that my input will be constructively used to find an answer if there is one to be found.
I have no issue using L26's TF3D V4, Athine OS Jan 22, Mbarvian Solace 1.5 and Josh' Revealed 21500. All has the GPS working fine. I'm not that particular that I measure individual response time.
As long as it locks within 1-2 mins (from nothing), it's ok to me.
hmm.... i think , i found the solution... don't know if it could work for others
now, I use PDA corner from Abusalza... with Radio version 1.70.xx.xx
so, after flashing your new rom... make sure you update the GPS support programs like quick gps , etc
then, execute your GPS program ( I use Garmin for this).. and make sure you are outside of your house, or apartment, or wherever..
the reason why my tytn II could not find satelites is because I did it in my house, did not think that outside my house could work (because my Trinity could detect satelites in my house without any support GPS program like quick gps)
then... your tytn II should detect the satelites and GPS is activated...
NB: sorry for my bad english

I am having the same problem. The original Three (Australian) ROM would get a GPS lock within seconds. Now, I take 20smins to get a lock.
ROM version: AthineOS WWE
ROM date: 1/22/09
Radio Version: 1.65.24.36
Protocol version: 25.94.40.06H
I have just used GPS test and the only thing I changed was the baud from 4800 to 9600. Will try it out later, but hope it works.
http://www.smartphone.net/software_detail.asp?id=3170
PS Most of us know that GPS works only if there is line of sight with the satellites, so yes, I am outside on cloudless days when I try to get locks.
PPS If it dont work, I might go back to official ROM. http://www.htc.com/au/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=13&cat=2&dl_id=342.
flash back to WM6.0, there are no problems with gps. every fix in 30 sec.
Hmm I would like to go back to 6.0 but my provider has only this rom 6.1 for download that has touch screen problem...
Any link to 6.0 WWE would be helpful
Found 6.0 sry.... ill try and post reply
Search the Wiki. There're links to various WWE versions.
Hmm, I wonder then what the difference is between 6.0 and the higher version that causes this inconsistency in locking. This would seem to indicate software issue rather than a hardware issue. I love the newer ROMs but the inconsistency or complete latency in getting a lock can be extremely annoying especially when you need a lock quickly.

I changed the baud from 4800 to 9600 and so far, the GPS locks within 30 seconds. I need further testing, but perhaps the default settings of the cooked ROMs is causing this problem?
I have tried and sucesfuly cooked ROM from stock firmware, added some apps, replaced buggy touch.dll so far so good ROM is 6.1 (WWE 3.31.xxx) using radio 1.65.20.15 i think.
Yesterday cloudy weather with rain i got lock within 4min cold start after flash, today morning warm start 2min (still cloudy no rain) and around noon no clouds got lock in 5sec.
Big THANX to SHIFU for help with dll

Hi,
I have different problem on GPS, I am using Garmin DK Series, dated 01/16/09. The problem is if use GPS for more then 10 min, back of the kaiser started to heatup, if I turn it off, after a while it is fine. Otherwise, it is detecting the GPS faster. I have downloaded QuickGPS & SeaSGEE.
Is anyone having these problem.
Thanks

This small guide is an instant GPS Fix tried on Samsung Galaxy SL I9003 and may work on other phones. This small guide will reduce the time taken to lock to satellites and has been tested inside a building with 8 floors and I was able to achieve lock to 4 satellites.
A much better guide to GPS Fix is here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13133654&postcount=142
Since that guide requires a little bit of manual work, so this is just a small software tweak
So here is what you have to do:
1. Turn Off GPS
2. Open LibTestMode. If you do not know how to open it then you can open it by typing the following code in the dialer (Froyo Only): *#*#3214789650#*#*
3. Under "Application settings" Change "Operation Mode" to Standalone. (Some people have reported better accuracy with MS Mode)
4. Under "Application Settings", Change "Timeout(s)" to 100
5. Under "SUPL/CP Settings" Change the SERVER & PORT to supl.google.com and port 7276
6. Reboot
NOTE: The attached screenshot is inside the building. I have received better results outside and accuracy of upto <40 feet was achieved.
Cold Start- GPS.
Hi there,
My Samsung Galaxy Pro was a bit reluctant in locking on to satellite signals, it used to take no minimum than 5 minutes.
Then I chanced upon an app in the market: "GPS Aids"... Do check it
Just wanted to know your views on "GPS Aids" & such alike apps...
Im now getting GPS lock in less than 5secs with 9-10sats in view & 7 in use inside my 3storey building surrounded my such more buildings and tall trees.
The best accuracy rate I have achieved is 2metres & most of the time it is 4metres
Thanx,

Yes GPS AIDS V2 is a great software. I am getting GPS lock within 3-10 seconds on XXKB3 FW.

GPS FIX i9003
I purchased my i9003 a fortnight back and had wonderful opinion , till the time i checked the GPS and surprisingly it did not work, could not understand how a product can be defective out of box. however when i googled for a fix , came to know there was significant issues with galaxy S phones
Contacted Samsung customer care , the technical folks have no clues and seems to from a different planet, all of them either denied there was a problem or asked me to do a hard reset, one tried to convince me for an hour that A-GPS worked only on network triangulation and did not have a actual gps and will give only an approximate location.
coming back to the problem , The earlier issues in Galaxy s related to configuration which were rectified by a fix and 2.2 update
the problem with i9003 i feel had something to do with the inbuilt sensor, i tried lot of software from android market including GPS Doctor, GPS Aids, GPS Fix, GPS Status, GPS test and GPS essentials among others... none of them were able to fix the problem , although few of them were able to detect gps satellites ( sometime even 12) but were not able to get a fix. the sad part was two of the apps were paid apps and total waste of money
In my trial and error approach I tried a software called Turbo GPS (its free) from android market, the major difference in this software vs. others was it had its own software to manage the sensors and after installing software the problem vanished. all you need to do is to run Turbo GPS wait for a couple of minutes and then start google maps. it worked like a charm.....

Hi adgdeepak, tough but successful experience. everyone has a share of GPS challenges, nice to know yours.
I crosschecked & double checked but could not find "Turbo GPS" on Android market!
Anyway, happy navigation
Not to take anything away from the OP author or anyone else, but would anyone be willing to test mine out? It is in my sig. If it helps you great, but its more for me to see if my theory is right that any android phone will work.
So far, it works on the Droid, Captivate, Aria, Inspire, Desire +HD, HD2, and the list goes on. I will not be checking this thread But its another alternative I wanted to point out, and am curious of its success.
'good old fix' for captivate or vibrant strikes again...same with 'press antena' one, nothing new...
again users have to fix their phones by editing service menu and with a piece of paper/coper =)
as it is PROBABLY the same BCM4751 chip - with same crappy board-antena contact as in sgs - you SL users are GPS handicapped ;]
could someone check what chip it carries?

Thanks for replying. I have never tried to record tracks while navigating. Will test it and post the results here. I have sent PM to chinfire, hoping for positive response towards the custom/CWR for I9003
GPS Aids helps but not that much.. I couldn't find the 'Turbo GPS' either! Any links or directions to that app?/

It is probably not available to your country yet, by google market..Just use market enabler or market unlocker and you will find it..

No such luck.
My setting were already set to the above. Not a single GPS lock.
Firmware version 2.2.1
Baseband version I9003DDKA5
Got it to work. This is specific to me.
background:
Samsung i9003 from India.
Provider: AT&T, Airtel
Current Location: California
Here what I needed to do.
1. Root your phone
2. Down GPS Aids from the Marketplace
3. Use the forced LTO method from the setup wizard of GPS Aids. (this requires your phone to be rooted. Native method does not work for me.)
4. run LibTestMode and change the Application Settings -> Operation Mode -> MS Mode (Standalone did not work for me)
5. Reboot
Looking for to use this when I go back to Bangalore again.
