Not only ... in my experience the Pocket Download Accelerator from Adisasta doesn't work on the HD2. See here

I installed PocketDownloader last night and first impression was good. There are several options and Opera integration seems to work fine. Also, it does actually do the job on the HD2 (unlike the expensive alternative from Adisasta).
I did some tests over my WiFi network, and I have to say my first impression about speed was wrong: PocketDownloader does the job pretty fast too.
Test file was a 360MB movie and it took Pocket Downloader 514 seconds to download it via http using two threads. This translates into a pretty good 5.72 Mbps overall speed.
For comparison, I downloaded the same movie from the same server over tha same WiFi link using Total Commander's FTP plugin in 1080 seconds. Average speed was 2.67 Mbps (exactly half, as it should have been).
Pretty good indeed.
Too bad the user interface is totally unattractive (kinda like Total Commander). Source code is avalable from SourceForge http://sourceforge.net/projects/pocketdl/.
Anyone willing to give it a shot? I'm willing to help.

Thank you very much

How is this app installed? The file is not a cab and there is no .exe in the zip folder. Is the folder simply copied in the phone? If so how do you launch the app?

Do u use Opera Mobile 10? Because I couldn't get it to integrate with that...
(I have added the exe name of the Opera 10 to Pocket Downloade, and, I have already started the catcher feature...)
Any help would be very much appreciated...

I'm using the standard Opera 9 that came with the phone as well as pocket IE.
IE integration is flawless. I had a hard time with Opera too.
The bottomline is that I start pocketdl manually most of the time: copy/paste the url ain't that difficult, is it?

I think the only BitTorrent client for WinMo is WMTorrent. I used the latest one and it's terrible. It just doesn't work the way it's supposed to.

Free calculator with BIG KEYS??

Hey guys,
Does anyone know of a calculator for WM5 that has nice, BIG keys?
Thanks guys!
Dax.
Try gCalc
You can even change the skin
There's also 1-Calc Lite. It was offered as freeware by Microsoft at one time, but I don't see it on their site any longer and it's no longer on Omega One's site, either.
So, I've attached the install file and some screenshots.
Thanks OldSap!!
All the best,
Dax.
Thanks Newbie2!
Those fullsize keys look great to use.
tyvm,
Dax.
1-Calc Lite doesn't installed on my WM6 PPC
I unzipped the installer and I tried to install the 1-Calc Lite.exe on my Hermes. It failed and returned the message that the "CalcLiteOL' is not a valid Pocket PC application. Does this app works for WM6 Professional? It's a shame if it doesn't. The app is very useful and usable.
My mistake
Oops. Silly me. Found out how to install the app after all. That it needs to installed from a PC.

I'm running it on my 8125 with one of the WM6 TouchFlo ROMs. It's installed to my storage card and works without missing a beat. Even when I feel the urge to feed my flashing addiction, I never have to worry about reinstalling it. . . . probably the most useful calculator/conversion app I've run across.

Thanks its a really good calc
I use CALC98 .

What I like it's the way we can configure almost everything :
-How many row options, the button size , font size..
I used since I had my old IPAQ 6515 and it's working very well on My Omnia II (WinMo 6.5)

IM+ Now Works with 6.1!! Flash away

For those of you having issues upgrading to the more stable and faster WM6.1 because of incompatibility to IM+ instant msging.... feel comfortable to flash now. Shapeservices just release an upgrade v4.55 that works great with 6.1.
Awsome work guys!!!
not working with every 6.1 rom.. im getting blank box where txt is suppose to be put in on the current rom im running..
Umm... isn't it easier to just use QIP? (www.qip.ru)
Or IM+ supports something QIP doesn't?
well see thing is.. i only can read english
and the qip i downloaded onyl supports icq?
There is an english link at the top right of the screen.
does is support yahoo messenger?
there are no faq so I cant find out if QIP uses text, or internet. Anyone know?
This QiP thing only works with ICQ, so its useless
Also IM+ has a version that works with Lotus Sametime, which is what my company currently uses, so it's a product we're licensed for on a corporate level. QIP looks nice but doesn't cover everything.

Yes it does and working so well more than u expected. In addition, It has ICQ, google talk, hotmail... and 3 more i dont remember.
BTW, in my opinion IM+ is the best chat software for PPC. Ver 4.55 is compatible with WM6.1, I've been using it for a week with latest Dutty 6.1 rom.
I have its cab file, if you want me to share I will upload it.

I believe you have to purchase it, so don't share it. On the main website, there is a trial, so that'll be good enough.

They added the support for multiple conversations, now it has what I need.
It has a nicer interface then IM+ too, and you can send audio and pictures (itll upload to a palringo server where the receiver can click the link and see). It is really nice!

I like it.. the one downside is that I can not get it to initiate a data connection by itself. I have to open up opera mini, load a page, then palringo will connect using the connection opera opened.
It has become the messenger of choice for me on my PC, for the time being, works nicely through my corporate firewall.
fixed the connection problem..after last rom flash medianet proxy was turned on. turned it off and all was well.

The question is: Is it better than Opera 9.5? I tried it before and didn't like the way it renders webpages. Used Picsel for a while, but found Opera to be the best for my needs.
Thanks for the info regardless.

ill give mach 5 a try. I hate ie cuz it lags so much and eats rams like cheese cake. So does opera. where can i download mach 5?
What version of Opera do people have working on their Uni? I have 9.51ß build 2723. I've got 1.4MB on Flash Disk (or could go on SD) and 375k in main memory.
How have others managed to configure Opera, and does it gobble up all available memory?

Rajiv,
Mach5 is not bad. It certainly is going to give Skyfire a run for it's money - especially as Mach5 supports VGA - yes!
The only thing is I wonder how much they will be selling it for, once it's out of the trial stage?

Sorry orb, I can't remember where I got it from. I think it must have come from the Uni forum somewhere! I was expecting it to see in your list!
I re-did the opera.ini file myself to get it working on the FlashDisk . I haven't created a cab, but simply unzip "Opera 9.51ß b2723 [fd]" to the FlashDisk and "Opera 9.51ß b2723 [m]" to main (\) after flashing or hard resetting. Then create link to OperaL (also attached - remove .txt extension to use). To lower main memory use, delete the widgets folder if you don't use them.

Man I want this for WM as well; looks very nice! We're closing in on desktop browsing on mobile devices.
This looks great! But from the features demonstrated, it seems to act very similar in many ways to Opera Mini 5 beta, so you can pretty much try it out now from the look of things.

Bittorrent clients

Trying to find a usable (preferably free) torrent client for my Nexus One. I've tried AndroidTorrent, but for the life of me I can't figure it out. I searched the Market and only saw ABTC. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Not looking for one that acts as a remote to my desktop's client, but one that allows me to do BT via the phone.
Thanks.

Are you on T-Mobile? If so you will probably have a hard time getting it going since T-Mobile blocks Bit Torrent both upload and download. Otherwise don't know what to tell you lol. Also may I ask why you might need to be constantly draining your battery to download some bit torrent files on your phone? Surely being able to remotely queue and download to your desktop client would be the better option.

Incorrect. I use WMtorrent on my TP2 and its works like a charm both upload and download are fully connectable according to my tracker. Also I've seen my usage go over 5gb's before with no issue. I do have an employee plan but I don't see that having any effect.
Why Torrents
If you are just looking to download music, try iMusic Tao. You can download individual songs straight to your phone. I also purchased aBTC and am not impressed. iMusic Tao is much better.

why would you want a torrent for your phone? makes no sence. just download the torrent files from your computer to your SD card. if the files are video, just convert them. as far as mp3 files go there are plenty of apps in the market that allow mp3 downloads. for example i use "I MUSIC" for my mp3 download needs.
