Htc hd2 on larger display - General Questions and Answers

Is there a special app, tool, utility, cable that would allow me to display my HD2 on a larger screen whether it be a laptop, monitor, or tv?
Thanx

My mobile would be great for displaying the phones display on your pc. Although it wouldn't be ideal for play back of videos because there is a very slight delay.

It is completely free and very useful.

Thanx! Ill give it a whirl!

connecting xdaii to a projector?

hi all..
i have pocket slides and want to connect the xda to a projector for presentations, is there a cable available to do this...
cheers
Tony
There is a backPack module for the XDA II which has an internal battery, a CF slot and a video output port. The video output port connects to a supplied cable for either Supervideo/Composite Video/or VGA output.
I bought one two days ago and used it for a presentation today at a PDA user group meeting in KL Malaysia. Was very happy with how easy it was to use and the quality of the images being presented.
Ed
wow...cool
thanks.. but what make, and where did you get it...
thanks

The BackPack is an O2 product, details are on their website. Where to buy it from depends on where you live I guess. I'm in Malaysia and the unit has just hit the streets here though I believe it has been available in other countries for a while.
Ed
Could I ask does it come with any software or driver?
Thanks
Btw if you look on www.expansys.com you'll see a I-mate and a O2 backpack.
The I-mate backpack is cheaper, but afaik, 100% the same
Yes it does come with additional software and driver.
Two main types of software.
1. Screen Mirror: An application that mirrors (displays) everything you do on the XDA II screen on the projected screen. Very handy for tutorials on software and other XDA II features. I used this to demonstrate some new software at PPC users group meeting in KL on Saturday.
2. Presentation software: For Projecting pdf and powerpoint files. I demonstrated (at the same user group meeting) the features of the powerpoint presentation and found it was crisp, clear, good color retention and very easy to use. Some nice features in this software too. You have an on screen mouse pointer, you can also draw on the screen with multiple color pens. Both the pointer and drawings appear on the projected image as well. But perhaps the neatest feature is the ability to display the powerpoint slide plus your speaker's note on your PPC screen but only display the powerpoint slides on the projected screen. I think that is a very useful feature.
The drivers and software are inluced on a mini CD.
Ed
There are a couple of things I would like to see improved on the hardware side of things.
1. There is no way to charge the battery in the BackPack without attaching it to your XDA II. I would prefer to see an AC socket on the packpack itself so you can leave the backpack on charge and still be using your XDA II.
2. When you insert a CF card into the BackPacks CF slot a little plunger sticks out. The plunger is pressed to remove the CF card. I found the plunger sticking was a bit annoying for a right hander like me. Holding the XDA II in my left hand (so I can use the stylus in my right hand) places the CF slot plunger into the meat of my palm. It doesn't hurt at first but after using it for most of the day it was certainly annoying.

Does the BackPack use the built-in ATI Imageon graphic accelerator?
Would it be possible to use higher resolution (640x480 on TV and 1024x768 on monitor) in all PocketPC applications?
I know this feature is not supported by default. But higher resolution in all apliccations is not supported on Toshiba e800 too, but with some hack you can use higher resolution in all applications.
There are applications for all PocketPCs which emulate higher resolution (using subpixels like the cleartype does). It these emulators you can see that most of applications (word, excel, internet explorer, ...) work correctly in higher resolution.
So my question: - is (or will be) possible to use your MDA2+BackPack in higher resolution (for exapmle for large XLS tables or for web browsing) on TV or VGA monitor? This feature would really be great! Imagine yourself sitting in a softchair, wireles keyboard in your hands and MDA2 connected to your TV showing XDA-Developers website in a full resolution !

... not the backpacki itself, but on the cable (VGA connector) is also the S-Video connector.
But the question remains: will I be able (using some hack) to use all PocketPC applications in HiRes on external monitor (similar hack as for Toshiba e800)?
Sorry by my badly english.
Whichever frames per second have the video signal? 2, 15, 60...?
One divx in TV with 2 FPS would be very bad :-(
hhhmmmm
i doubt that the backpack with vga out would be any kind of limiting factor when it comes to fsp it would al come down to what refreshrate it's running on the top of my head my guess would be 60Hz
this give a max fsp of 30fps
of cause if a tv of any kind of being used it 100% depend on if it's PAL or NTSC
so if your xda can play divx at an ok fps then your external screen should be able to aswell
I have been having backpack for few days. It works at the most to 2.5 FPS. :-(

backpack video out to connect to a 7" LCD screen

Hi,
Would like to have the screen of the qtek 2020 visualized on a bigger screen.
Buying the backpack and connecting the video out to a video in of those 7" lcd display (you find many on the internet) will it work?
WIll it be aligned, I mean on the full screen size.
Thanks a lot.
backpack output is very slow maybe 2-5fps even slower when system is in (moderate) use. Far too slow for video, games, etc only useful for presentations and demonstrations.
ok, thanks for the reply.
What about using as a GPS?
I would like to see my tomtom 5 on a bigger screen. You think it will work?
Thanks and regards.
i've seen ones with both vga and composte
the xda should se one with composite as a tv it cant tell if a 32" tv is connected or something else
same thing with vga
I have no first hand experience of using tomtom so i dont know what it displays and how fast the display is updated but my best guess is that it will work fine on an external display. anybody have any experience?

I have begun with my mobiler and when i switch on the cam app i have a black screen on the mymobiler windows of my pc so I have tried another several apps like Mobiola or WebCamera Plus but i don't succeed to have on my PC a real time screen of my topaz .
I also try tinycam but the display in yhe browser is too small and with poor quality

I can get real time camera with Mobiola. Not sure why it wouldn't work for you?
Have you tried Pocket Controller? It is like My Mobiler but better.

I have tried Pocket Controller and when i switch on the camera, i have a black screen on my Pocket Controller PC screen.
But if i start mobiola, i can see it in a bigger size on my Pocket Controller PC screen. So it works but it is not very easy and i have to start 2 apps
Why i can not see on my Pocket Controller PC screen the camera view when it is switch on whereas with mobiola i can?

Yeah, unfortunately Pocket Controller can't render real time images because there is always a slight delay.

the display time with Pocket Controller is faster than with my mobiler
But I don't understand why with Pocket Controller or with my mobiler, the PC display windows don't show the screen of my topaz and replace it with black screen?

Yeah, I have never cared for My Mobiler, much prefer Pocket Controller.
I think they lack the proper video drivers to render video from the screen correctly, so the screen goes black.

I think about that too
But why i can see the screen with mobiola and not with Pocket Controller? perhaps it is a drivers problem....

Does Wyse Pocketcloud only support 4:3 resolutions ?

I downloaded pocketcloud (Free version) from the market few minutes back. It works fine, I could connect to my PC without any problems, I like the mouse implementation, and everything is good. Except the screen resolution. For some reason It only let me use 4:3 resolutions (1280x1024,1024x768,800x600 and 640x480). I looked everywhere in the settings of both Android and PC app, but there is no place to enable or set a wide screen resolution. When I use one of the above resolutions, PC screen shows up to the left and there is a huge black box on the right. I saw a couple of youtube videos where it runs full screen at wide screen aspect ratio. Why doesnt it work for me ? I would gladly buy the full version which is like $8, but only if it works in full screen mode.
Was not happy with resolution also with Wyse. Check out "2x" in market. This will go full tablet when opened, plus the free version supports multiple connection configuration unlike Wyse free.

No such complaints with the full version. Full screen works perfectly with Automatic resolution.

The paid version does support full screen resolution. Once I bought it, the PCs I connected to automatically went full screen, I didn't have to set the resolution. With the desktop client installed it is a super convenient RDP client. The only problem I have with it is that when using a USB mouse the right-click acts as a back button.

If you can pony up $5, SplashTop blows both 2X and Wyse out of the water. You get uber smooth remote desktop... of the likes you've probably never seen before.
Be sure to get the HD version...

As long as you install the desktop companion, Wyse will work behind a firewall. I saw in the comments of splashtop that it wasnt working behind a firewall but that "they are working on it." I also really like the way Wyse makes everything accessible from the on-screen cursor. Not sure how Splashtop takes care of things like right-click and drag n drop, but I like how Wyse does it. I also like that Wyse supports VNC for my Linux box.
I wish splashtop had a free light version so I could compare it without buying another RDP app. Although I see splashtop just lowered the price again, so I may have to give it a shot while it's on sale.

Pardon me if I'm wrong but isn't splashtop included by default on the Transformer? It's part of the MyCloud app.

[Q] How to mirror my PC screen to my Nexus 5?

Hi Everyone,
Most people are asking how to mirror their phone's screen to a TV or PC monitor. Well I need to do the opposite. Does anyone know how I can mirror my PC screen to my Nexus 5? I am looking for the option with the least lag, even if it is via USB and not wireless.
Thanks in advance!
I would say your best bet would be to use Chrome Remote Desktop. Download the app on your phone, and download the chrome extension on your PC.

Thanks. I will try that. Do you know if it is laggy?
Actually I don't need to be able to work with my desktop through my phone. All I need is to see what is displayed on my PC with the least lag possible.

It has worked the best for me out of all the similar apps (i.e teamviewer). However, it depends on what you need it for. For example, if you want to mirror videos it might not work well.
You can try splashtop, it usually is pretty smooth https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.splashtop.remote.pad.v2&hl=en
or even microsoft's own remote desktop app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.rdc.android

Thanks a lot, splashtop works reasonably well. I have an AMD video card, so I suppose that helps a bit.
I do not need the desktop controls, etc. I need so to say, just use my phone as a monitor, so if I can find something with even better quality and sacrificing those controls it would be even better

The quality will all be down to the network on both ends.
So the download speed of your phone and the upload speed of your home internet. If these are weak you will always experience problems.
Apps like teamviewer help as they connect to a middle man server which means you are less likely to see as big a delay than connecting directly where the connection as I said above is more dependant.
Not used splashtop personally. Microsoft's RDP is alright but I'm happy with Teamviewer i use it on all my pc's i work on. Having it on my mobile just means I can work from anywhere remotely.

Ok. So I was wandering if there is a way to do that via USB in order to avoid the internet issues, of course only if it can get better. I am not sure exactly what bandwidth is needed to stream my 1080p screen and if it can be done smoothly via micro USB.
Other than that I have an acceptable amount of lag with splashtop, yet it crashes if I go full screen on my PC for some programs (I tried a few games too). But running in windowed mode works fine.
