It appears that there is an overall shortage of task managers for HD2. And the ones around have minor or major issues depending on ROM etc. Which task manager do you use / suggest? (I have stock 1.66 WWE rom)
Thanks
nobody says anything - does this mean that nobody is happy with their task manager, hence no suggestions, or noboby uses one? (I rule out (hope) the possibililty of nobody bothering to type anything).
Have you tried X2 Task Manager? Or Dutty's Task Manager for Leo? Both of them operates the same way. But I personally prefer the stock task manager though...

Thank you. What bothers me in the stock task manager is that I have to return to home screen in order (via shortcut) to invoke it. From my HD days I am used to wktask - but in my view in HD2 it does not work as well. It appears that it consumes too much battery - or at least this is my impression.
This is why I am looking for another one.
There are tons of taskmanagers that do their jobs.
I use XTask to see which app is running and to close apps with the x-button.
To switch between tasks I use LMT and Task Facade.
Others I used and that are doing their job are WkTask, ArkSwitch and Showcase.
Which You want to use depends on your preferences.
I use the taskmanager included in Resco Explorer 2010. Looks nice and works well.

Arkswitch, by far the best task manager. Although I haven't tried it on a stock ROM the activiation box sits in the top left on 6.5.x ROMs, although you can change the size and position of it and there is also a 6.5 option for it.
It works amazingly well on 6.5.x ROMs.

Hi all,
I recently got my HTC Touch HD and I needed some help to do with Task Switching.
I've noticed that when I've got more then one application open, it's a long
process switching from one to the other.
Is there any application that can make doing this easier. I'm not particularly
after freeware, I'm just after the best/efficient application that can do this so I don't mind paying for any applications.
I've seen Task Facade here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=420220
But it seems buggy from what I've read.
If there's an application that can imitate what CTRL+TAB does on a PC, that
would be even better LOL.
Thanks
I think wktask is the best option: http://soft.photoracer.net/docs/wktask_en.html
It's super quick switching between apps, works like on your PC.
Cheers for the reply owziee
WkTask seems like a really good solution and it makes Windows Mobile feel
much more like the desktop version of Windows OS's.
The thing I'm not too keen on is how it has the name of the application
next to the icon in the taskbar. It's taking up all that space for no reason.
If I have loads of applications open, I think it'll end up looking quite ugly.
Also, I don't really need the Launcher part of the application, is there an
option to turn it off?
Other than that, this is probably the best Task Switcher I've seen so far
running on Windows Mobile.
Any other suggestions people
Thanks once again owziee

Is there anyway to get rid of the names next to the applications in the taskbar?
Also can all the other features be turned off cos I don't think I'll be using them
much. Thanks for all your help.

If you change the display to "Icon" mode (out of the choices: Mixed/PC/Icon) that should do the trick. I think it may still show the text next to the active task but only that.
People, Please STOP ANSWERING QUESTIONS IN THE DEV&HACK FORUM
Sorry, I hadn't realised I posted this thread in the wrong section
Anyway's has anyone tried Quickmenu?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340358
I'm not sure whether this is also a task switcher because it seems to only
have the exit icon next to open programs in the screenshots so I'm not sure
how you would switch from application to application using this application.
i'm using Pocket Plus (SPB) It has a task switch option as well. A little pop-up window showing active applications. I have it set up to be activated with a hardware button.
bell ui taskbar menu is working awesome for me for switching tasks
I have the same problem - every task switcher I've ever used either has tiny menus that aren't a good fit for a mobile platform (WkTask, QuickMenu), or are really slow (Task Facade). The best I've found in terms of compromise between the two are FDCSoft's TaskSwitcher, and the task manager built into MortButtons. TaskSwitcher is uglier but faster, MortButtons is prettier but slower.

Is it from a new version of TouchFlo?
I really like the 3 "add Shortcut" icons, maybe there is a cab, to get it to work like that.

Well my friend if you like shortcuts...may be you consider SPB mobile shell 3.01....
YOU CAN CUSTOMIZE IT THE WAY YOU WANT IT, PLACING THE SHORTCUTS THAT YOU NEED AND USE MOSTLY. THE CHOICES ARE ENDLESS...LOOK INTO IT , YOU WOULD NEVER GO BACK TO MANILLA...BELIEVE ME!!!
here is my home page on it shortcuts that i use all the time including my 2 preferred contacts
and by the way that my baby Kiara
Looking nice
But i haved tried mobile shell, it´s ok, but i more like touch flo.
So i hope to find a program or tweak there can do it.
You might want to take a look at this ROM:
[14 Aug][WWE] udK Leo R1 WM6.5 - Build 21840.5.0.60 - Base v2.08 - Hero UI Manila 2.6
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=524224
I've been using it and it's fantastic. You have the shortcuts (actually you scroll it, so instead of just 3 you have 9). Other details in this ROM make it a great experience. I don't feel like going back to 6.1 after using it, still needs some bugs to be fixed, but you can give it a try.
I use the shortcuts for:
1- Enabling Bluetooth (CicleBT)
2- Toggle Wifi On/Off
3- Gmail shortcut
Hope this helps you
It's 2.5....

You realise of course that getting this home screen involves first Hard SPL for your phone and then flashing the new ROM. Tom Codon has a 2.5 ROM that is not particularly buggy - I find it fine for day to day use you can find it at http://htcpedia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=274
New here, first post. Looks to be a very informative site! Excited to get my hands on WM 6.5.1 and Manilla/Sense 2.5 ROMs.
Anyway....where is the System Tray in WM 6.5? You know, the icons that show at the bottom of the screen on WM 6.x (before 6.5) when you have certain applications open? Such as AIM, PDAnet, etc.. I don't see it on my Imagio (Manilla), or in the 6.5 emulator. Manilla does provide the helpful running-apps menu, however.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
It's on the today screen (disable chome or manila).
Hmm, I'm not seeing it on the today screen. Is it possible that it's not enabled? Maybe I'm missing something, do you have a screenshot?

Well, there are only a few apps that show the icon. Dotfred's task manager does if you uncheck "no icon in tray." Also, mymobiler does it if select the option to show it. The only other app I have that I can do it with is SK Today Commander, but it also has a plugin, so the icons are redundant and kind of fugly to boot (the #'s are the plugin).

Ah, but you're not using WM 6.5, you're using 6.5.1 or some modified version. I'm talking with straight 6.5, there is no tray area. Also with Manilla there is no tray area, apparently.
I'm using 28002 (6.5.3), but trust me, it's there in 6.5.0 builds, too. You have to disable CHome in the home/today settings (windows default in the check list) and just use the regular Today screen to see it. The other plugins like CHome and Manila cover it up. It's still there, you just can't see it because the UI is a Today overlay. For whatever reason, I prefer the Today screen over all the other UI's available. I don't like finger scrolling so much to find things.
Ah! I didn't realize the new default home screen was called CHome. Disabled that and now I see the normal Today screen, complete with the Tray icons. Thanks!
Tested on Leo and it works great!

Does Bluetooth still function after running RAM Sweeper? In the TP2 it did not. After each run of Ram Sweeper, you had to soft reset to get functioning BT again. Only after adding BTCommManager.exe en BTTrayCE.exe to the whitelist, BT kept functioning after running it.
it works in the hd2 but you should exclude comm manager! and i may update this app soon so, i'll post it in this subforum also
best regards

those are the ones you have to add to the whitelist of Ram Sweeper:
EXC CommManager.exe
EXC BTManager.exe
EXC BTTrayCE.exe
DO NOT REMOVE THIS ONE: EXC connmgr.exe
regards, Kuzibri
Every time i used the RAM sweeper the HD2 crashed, that means that after cleaning up the RAM there stands "Ram Sweeper" in the Taskbar instead of "Start" and it isn't even possible to launch the start menu pressing the Windows hard button. You have to turn off the device and after turning it on again it works.
edit:
is there an app that cleans up the RAM and really works together with HD2 without any issues?
edit 2:
i found a working one:

Do you need more speed? do you want to make cleanRAM x2 faster then now?
- You just need to unchecked (disabled) the settings: "Show RAM Status Notification" and then you will see the difference...

Just moved back to WinMo from Android and, while I prefer Winmo I did like the power panel that let you simply turn on and off screen brightness, bluetooth, GPS etc.
Is there something similar for the WinMo roms? I am running Dutty's Family Rom v15. I have searched but cannot find anything that sounds like this.
Whaaaat? WinMo preferred over Android. Youch!

Yup, I needed the direct (i.e. not through Google) sync with Outlook (Nexus rom did not use HTC sync). Better music player on Winmo as well as much better battery life. I am happy with Winmo.
Any idea about that app?
WinMo does what Androidon't,
i wonder if anyone is going to get this joke

OK, my suggestion would be Cookies Home Tab plus CHT Scheduler with Add-On links. This then gives you the ability to add numerous Toggle Switches to your home screen giving you the ability to toggle on/off most of the comm functions (Airplane Mode, Bluetooth, Wifi, Phone, Data, etc) plus CHTS now has Backlight switches and many more add-on links/toggles. The only thing you can't switch on/off is GPS as WinMo apps just use this on demand anyway. This is the sort of thing you can do:

}
There are loads of skins around for every CHT element - start your search HERE for some ideas or make your own sets - they're just png images. Let me know if you need any help or suggestions. If you are not familiar with CHT there are also loads of widgets available, both included in the CHT install and as add-ons and more coming all the time. Whilst the list is very short compared to Android there is plenty you can do to make your home tab(s) suit you.
