Startup Cleaner. - Nexus One Themes and Apps

Hey peeps, thought I'd drop off a thread and see whatchayall think. It's a startup cleaner program. Seems pretty decent and could be a good app for people like me who hate crap like fring running on autostart, etc. =P
http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.bright.startup2

Tried it, nice find.
Uninstalling market updates first is getting to be a pain!

This app works great! Stopped all sorts of apps from starting up! Good stuff, thanks!
**EDIT**
Only killed them once the phone was booted completely. Didn't do a logcat to verify this at first.

Haha, actually I noticed what it does is just kill the task that starts up. It doesn't PREVENT the task from starting though.

Should be something like startup auditor then. Actually preventing apps from starting up would require a rooted phone with the autostarts app.

Yeah, could there be a chance someone in the community would be able to mod the app to do so? Not sure if the dev is reading this here. Lol.

I think the dev is probably trying to cater to non rooted users as well lol. Not 100% sure of this, but stopping apps from starting up at all should require a rooted phone.

We want an app that PREVENTS apps from starting up from boot, not something that starts more... haha.

As was stated twice, that's what autostarts does?

[Q] Voicemail Notifications-[SOLVED]

So it came to my attention yesterday that I had like 20 VMs', wich I had no idea because I am apparently not receiving notifications. I've checked all settings, and have not changed anything in like 6 months. Yes, I have looked, checked and read any applicable forums. I'm running just barebone stock GB. It may be antiquated, but I like it, it works well and gets great battery life. No problems ever till now. Any suggestions? Thinking I may have to One-Click back, start over and see, but was just wondering if anybody has any thoughts. Hope this post was respectful enough for all!
Did you perhaps remove the visual voicemail apk. I understood it as being needed to get notifications. (Correct me if I'm wrong).

Yep I did, and do believe that's the problem. Anybody know how I can get that apk back. I grabbed it from Lumin's APK repository but its a .zip and upon flashing it fails....of course. Knew it couldn't be that easy. If not I'll one-click it and start over. Thanks much. I appreciate the answer.
Just install it from the Play Store

[Q] Safe to Greenify com.qualcom

Hey guys, I get this in my greenify app. Is this normal and should be keeping my device awake for so long? Is it the phone just staying on alert for incoming calls or what?
Safe to greenify, or leave as is?
Leave it alone.

^ This.
In general greenifying system apps isn't a good idea unless you are 100% sure it won't cause trouble.
You should really only greenify installed apps that you personally see behaving badly and causing wakelocks.

You wont find it in the store. Google Adguard. You have to download from their site.
only thing on the S6 that suffers from ads is the chrome browser.
i miss my adaway, but an easy workaround is to go to chrome settings and turn off JAVA.
This will kill 90 percent of the ads if not all, only draw back is some websites wont work properly.

Does adguard work as well as adaway? Does it block the annoying popup and banner ads inside of apps? I was using adblock plus with and without root on my previous phone(one m7) and it was just terrible.

It works, but not as good as the root ones.
oh god, I cannot live without adaway, it's just impossible. We badly need root.
I purchased the full version of AdGuard and lately though I have been getting disconnected when making calls. I disabled AdGuard and this problem went away.

LMAO, just installed it and uninstalled it within a minute. Pure crap.
Just installed it. So far so good. Idk what the negative remarks are about yet.
What sites are you still getting ads on? They're gone here and Android authority.

Try sending a text message. Mine will not send with Adguard installed. I'm talking about the full version though, to block ads within apps as well as the browser. It doesn't work. They are trying to figure out why but no luck so far.

I noticed yesterday. I guess it works if you want to just browse, but it's limited to that.

Ads after every call?

Does anyone else get ads after every call?

Sleeping Apps

Do you guys sleep apps in the device optimizer? I just found it the other day, seems like a good thing, probably the best we can get till we can get root
I have all of my apps that I don't need notifications from set to Always Sleep. Seems to help the battery some.
If you are looking to disable apps or block them I recommend BK Disabler. No root needed.
Also root is available, just be careful because it has ALOT of set backs. In my opinion not worth it right now.

That app is awesome! Pretty much the only thing I wanted root for! Or at least the main thing! Thanks! I froze/disabled a few main ones that keep waking up in the background....

Also just as an FYI AT&T hid the carrier IQ software in a new shady spot. Screen shots below to show where to turn it off.

You're looking at the wrong application. Use the search to find "Carrier IQ" and you'll find the right application and then the right service to turn off.

Yep been disabled since day 1.
With all the aggregated data collected from pretty much every app within android and google really, what does disabling Carrier IQ do?

It aggregates all of you data, ties it to you phone number and your AT&T account. It's quite a bit more invasive than Google's anonymously collected data.
Also it crush battery and uses about 20 - 200 MB of data a month.
Super shady.

Composed on Galaxy Note8
Doesn't disabling the package disable the service...? Package disabler pro doesn't have the option to disable the service.
Bk disabler seems pretty awesome... Not sure how good package disabler is...?

Yeah I switch to BK because sometimes u you only want to disable specific services not the entire package.
On the S8 the Carrier IQ was hidden in the system package.
I dont appear to have "Device Health" anywhere.
