Hello,
After swaping to a cooked ROM I no longer have the Windows Default option in the today settings. I want to be able to use Titanium but after searching for hours I cannot find a place to download the actual plug-in only themes for it.
Can someone please point me in the right direction to obtaining an install cab for Titanium or is there a registry setting or something to enable this?
Thanks
Chris
well what rom is it you're using dude?

hi, i see many ppl here flashing their roms everytime an update comes out. my question is that are you guys reinstalling all programs and setting up all the settings everytime you flash the rom. or is there way to load all that to a newly flashed rom with sprite backup or sunny back with affecting the new rom settings itself. i recently instlaled nbd 9.1, but also want to try other roms, but hate the fact of reinstalling everything and inputting settings everytime i do this is a drag. anyone else doing this an easier way?.
i also wanna know too.
I install most of my programs on a storage card. So there all there. But I have to move a shortcut the the phone.
Yes i redo all my settings. O well. only takes 5-10 mins.

When you flash, you wipe everything, so yes, you have to set everything up again. NEVER (and I mean NEVER) take a full backup with Sprite, Sunny, Spb backup, or similar and restore from one rom to another rom. You will cause all sorts of problems as you will be changing registry settings and more.
For me, I have a folder on my SD card called Setup Files. In there are cabs and .reg files I've created for everything I use. After I flash, I go to that folder and start running the apps. IF you want to get real adventurous, you can create your own extended rom to run stuff for you. There are also some tools for running cabs for you too, but for me, I have it down to a known pattern (and it can change with each rom depending what comes in the custom rom) so I just do it by hand. From the time I start the process of flashing to a new custom rom, to the point where my phone is back to where it was before, is about 1.5 hours (sometimes closer to an hour). Yeah, its a pain, but for me its worth it to be able to try out some of these roms (and if all I'm going to do is test a rom, I just do a full Sprite backup, flash the rom to test, then flash back to the original rom and then do a restore).

Unfortunately, yes you have to re-install everything and reconfigure all of your settings every time. The only shortcut to this would be to install programs to the storage card and create shortcuts to the programs in the start menu folder but even that takes about a minute per shortcut so you might as well just re-install them.

One danger here. Some programs require registry settings to be present for them to work properly. Just creating a shortcut to point to an old install may not work for all programs (and can cause weird things to happen since registry entries are missing). Some programs see the registry entries aren't there and create default ones. But a lot don't.

Oh yeah that's a good point. I completely forgot about that. Well, that's why I always just re-install everything... lol
Cook everything in the rom and ext rom, you don't lose anything [email protected]!
I downloaded and installed this from this site, ran the cab on the phone and installed okay,
HOWEVER,
I can't find it. Anywhere. Or figure out what to do to backup! I just want to give someone the ability to restore the phone back up from a backup (I'm selling it soon).
Anyone help? Greg.

Thanks for that. I don't really want to pay for a 2nd software, just to sell it. I have the htc one installed but I don't know how it works as it didn't install a program icon - perhaps I should uninstall it and go looking for something else that is availabe/freeware?
Greg.

Thanks I'll give that a try. I guess also with SPB, I have been thinking if I install it and then use it to do a backup to an .exe file, it doesn't matter if the next person doesn't subscribe to spb as the original backup file with the .exe is available to restore the device to the state I sold it in, right?

Hi,
I recently used HTC Backup to backup all my contacts, files etc. But when restoring this is what happens.
For 10 seconds it begins to restore, then it switches to the Today Screen, and then there is nothing on the today screen, and on the "Tools" menu there is nothing. Also on start menu half items are missing
Hallo
When update my G1 with a new firmware, i have then to reinstall all apps that i backed up before with Astro.
Is there a way to install all backed up apk file automatically?
This can help
Well dude is saw your post yesterday and i was like thats a good idea... so lets bring it to reality. so i decided to google my a** off in an effort to help ever one who wants and "automatic" way to install all of your backup application from "ASTRO" file mangers backup. Ok first off i don't know to much about writing scripts(it seem like a good way to go for "automatic" installations) only that in notepad you put Whatever.sh
well with all that said...(wow just my explanation)
1)Go to terminal
2)su
3)cp /sdcard/backups/apps/*.* /data/app
and were done its not automatic but Ive tested it and it works its better then going and downloading and installing everything
if some could write a script please do.. thank you

Installed the app via the android market and did backups with it before updating my X10i.
But after the update of the phone i cant find this app in the android market place.
But if i got a hold of the apk file and download it to my pc i would be able to put it on the memorycard and install with astro, Am i right?
Yes you are right. or use adb without even transferring it to your phone
The exact name of the app and dev of it?
Protip: goto appbrain top search market
It´s called: MobileHome Backup
I cant post a link to it since i´m a new user here..
I can find the app on the page appbrain and in the appbrain app.
But when i try to install the app it says: There´s no matches in the android market for the search: pname:mobilehome.backup
What to do?? Can i get a hold of the apk file in any other way?
Handy backup for android would work to. Did a backup with that program to before the update just to be sure but now i cant find any of the programs in the market. Why did the market change beacuse of the update?

Hello, new to the forum.
I had an attack of stupidity while using Titanium and deleted the Tether Manager from my Infuse. Does anybody know how to restore it? And, NO, I did not have the smarts to back it up first.
Thanks

I'm not sure why you would want it, but here ya go:
If it doesn't run after you DL it, you need to use a root file manager, and copy and paste it into /system/app.
You may also need to apply permission to it: 0644 (all 3 boxes in the first column and the top on the second column
Sorry for the delay in response.
I just wanted to put it back because the phone came with it. The real problem is that I rooted the phone then installed "wifi tether" (loaded with errors in the log) but it wont work correctly, the laptop will tether but will not surf the internet. So I deinstalled it and was going to try the native application until THIS problem. So the real problem I guess is how to get a functioning tether for my Infuse.
PS. I love your signature, there is some good stuff in there.
