Barcode Pricing App - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Hi all,
I have been using BarcodeZilla for a while now based on a recommendation from a friend, but I have to say I'm disappointed with it. The final straw being that I have just scanned a PS3 game (Call of Duty) and although it recognised it, it could not retrieve any pricing information. I think this defeats the object of the application; I want to be able to see something in the shop and make sure it's a bargain before I buy it.
So... what do you guys recommend as a better alternative??
Thanks in advance,
Baloo

I doubt any barcode scanner could have that function... That is how every other barcode scanner works. If I am correct in my thinking, the price of the item is unique to each store, while the barcode is the same, so basically, the barcode can represent a different price dependent on the meaning coded into the store's system.

Sorry for not being clearer - I want to compare prices to internet sites such as Amazon, so I can see prices elsewhere before I buy in a store.
Thanks for the quick reply

id love an app like this. surely there must be something out there........

As I understand it, that is what BarcodeZilla is supposed to do. Although it tries to get prices from Froogle (Google's shopping channel). But in my experience, it doesn't do it for everything.

this mite be what your looking for...

Absolutely spot on, thanks

Mobiletag only searches .com sites. How do you get it to search .co.uk sites ?

So many applications can implement such functions, Zxing's barcode Scanner is OK.

Red Laser like app for HD2

Hi,
Just wanted to ask if there was an app like red laser on the iphone for the hd2 or windows mobile, where you can scan barcodes from any product like a book and get the cheapest price from online results.
Thanks in advance
Have a look at Marketplace in the next weeks... we've build an app like that (Personal Shopping Assist)
Nice to hear, can you explain to me why all market place software is installed on the device and not have an option to install to Storage Card?

Try barcodezilla, does exactly what you want!
http://www.barcodezilla.net/Mobile.aspx
or http://www.woabi.de/ for germany (uses german shops, prices, ...)
or barcoo http://www.barcoo.de/ , but also only german i think..
I'm using QuickMark here. Works for 1D (but not all possible barcode standards) & 2D/QR. (free, registration required)
EDIT: My bad, QuickMark free doesn't work for 1D barcodes; wants an upgrade.

Ill give quickmark a try
Thanks everyone
Shopspark
We are releasing shopspark [redlaser like app] for windows mobile. Since this is still version 1 only, it will have limited features only. We do offer continous updates.
I hate how ALL these programs are being released at the same time, but currently the only one I know of that can do that is MobileTag Barcode Reader. Reads all sorts of barcodes and checks online + local to check for the cheapest price. You'll have your choice of programs soon enough. There's the program the user above me posted about and Shop Savvy is planning to release their version for Windows Mobile this May. For now, u can use MobileTag Barcode Reader. It works well with the HD2 and is officially supported.

Signature Capture App?

So, i had an interview this morning for a job, and have an opportunity to earna great deal of brownie points with the business owners!
They were thinking of purchasing some sort of electronic signature capture device (like fedex or UPS has when you sign for a package) for invoices.. BUT.. I also mentioned my Droid Eris and how it can do so much... Turns out, both of the Owners have DROIDs lol..
Anyways.. I want to know if anyone has seen some sort of application that can capture signatures, and either save an image to be emailed, or email directly from the app..
OR does anyone know a DEV that could create something as simple as this, that I can talk to and relay updates on the APP to the owners of this company..
They seemed really interested in it, and I'm pretty positive it will show a good bit of initiative in saving their company money from the get-go (on my part)
It would be AWESOME to maybe have a custom app built, specifically for their company, but anything at this point (instant gratification method) would help!
Thank you guys in advance!

Sounds like a good idea but it seems like it would be difficult to sign on a capacitative touch screen.
Yeah i understand that part, but I think "finger signing" wouldn't be too bad.. Would there be a way to use some sort of "stylus" maybe with a specialized tip that would actually work on the capacitive touch screen?
I'm mainly just wondering.. I think it would be cool to be able to save thousands of dollars on expensive equipment by using what they already have, and just didn't know they could use it.
Signing would be doable if a person could write one letter at a time. I only really know this because of the google expressions application.
They have styluses for cap screens, My mom has one for her iPad. It was really cheap too
<goes to see if it works with nexus one>
Actually you can build your own. (I tried to post you a link to a how to, but I am not permitted to do so)
mooch
I like this idea, and I think I will work on it. I can't make any promises though, if I choose to do this I will start screwing around with it in the next few days. If you have any feature requests go ahead and post them here. Or you can email me at burlyskink (at) gmail dot com
I have seen a local cable install company use moguls for this purpose
There is a signature capture library available for Android. Search for 'biz.binarysolutions.signature' on the Market. I am not allowed to post links, but the developer's site is hiding behind bit.ly / scfahp

$250?? what a joke.
just a tip, most coders with the required proficiency would want a lot more than that.
the actual idea is interesting though.

damn I was hoping it was enough. You could sell such an app in the market for a decent amount of money. It would probably be profitable enough, As long as I get a copy I'd still pay the bounty.
Oh well, I was just hoping someone would want to do it cause its the only thing keeping me on WM, and WM7 is not compatible with the software I use now so I'm stuck with old phones from this point on. I just want to go android
Is there a reason why you can not use square? Or just search "receipts" on appbrain: http://www.appbrain.com/search?q=receipts

well I don't know what square is but I have checked for an app that already does what I need and found nothing. I run a mobile business so I am at peoples house and need to print them a receipt for services rendered. there are plenty of apps to email or text people a receipt but nothing to print one. I bought a $500 bluetooth receipt printer a few years ago and it works perfect, but windows mobile is not going anywhere good and android is the future so I am trying to prepare.
ok so I checked out square and it is awesome looking but I need to be able to print an actual receipt. like the little slip you get when you buy anything at a store.

[Q]Purchasing a new tablet from China

Just wanted to know if anyone has successfully purchased any tablets from this site? > http://www.lightinthebox.com/wholesale-Laptops--Notebooks_c1386?gclid=CKz65sPb26YCFQoLbAodwguL2Q
Its being advertised by Androidcentral.com so i assuming its a safe portal to purchase from. Please advise.
Thanks in advance..
nice online store...
but selling old tablet models...
many items made in china,i think it is realiable.
I don't know you might make a google search using the terms "lightinthebox scam". There are quite a few "these products are cheap knock off's" and such complaints. But generally the most vocal will be the one's who think they have been wronged (or have some reason to make you think they have been wronged). If you do take a chance with them I suggest only using paypal just to be "safer". Do not use Western Union no matter what. Do not assume just because a favored and trusted site advertises another company that the company is legit. Ad space is a paid commodity, driven by automated system that tracks your browsing interests through the use of cookies (kind of like those happy little "rewards" cards you get at the super market).

Is Yelp the only such site with a serviceable API? Because they extort small businesses and should really be used by no one. They are some nasty people. I used to write reviews for them, but I found out they would only publish them if the business owner paid. I would delete them if I could but I don't think I can. I review on TripAdvisor now, as they seem to just display the reviews in order. But I'm not sure if they're open.
Nice to see my hometown in one of the screenshots. I'm from Santa Rosa originally, so I recognized the first and last screenshots' maps.

Hey! We decided to use Yelp because they have a big database with a lot of information about bars worldwide. It's interesting what you mentioned about them I haven't had that experience. I like TripAdvisor, I often use it to view reviews of hotels and stuff, didn't know they had information/reviews about bars. Anyway Thanks for the info!
Oh yeah, it's widely reported, and it's basically how they make money. They do have a big database, though. It's like how I'm on Verizon, I don't like some of their business practices but I want the best network for calling in my area. Not trying to dump on your app or anything — if nothing else, the replies bump the topic so more people see it.
