I would like to know if its possible to make the taskbar visible at all time. By having the taskbar visible all the time, I would be able to know what time it is and how much battery I have left without switching back to the home menu. Thank you in advance.
+1 Especially in OperaMobile 10 it would be great. Screen is big enough to even show the taskbar...
Yeah it would be perfect for opera 10. I know this feature is available in opera 9.7 but I would like to have it in opera 10 because I think its a better browser.
registry
are there anyway of doing this through registry tweak?

hi!
I just got a XDA Orbit 2 ( HTC Touch). Now im looking for an appLauncher like tdLaunch. I want Icons on the desktop on which I simply press the stylus and the according app starts... Just like the quick launch bar in windows...
Should be freeware
Thanks
AO
You ought to look at the tray launch feature in BatteryStatus. That's what I use for my today launcher. And the popup launcher in WkTask is fantastic as a launcher over other programs. Both of those are free and you can find them on this board.
yeahh... well thtas all too much gadgets... I got batti which is very small in size on the display and gives a full overview over my battery status...
All I need are little icons on my PPC Desktop without no frills...
Thx anyway!

free and dont eat much mem
try this, just adds small icons to your today screen...
"Launcher is a Today screen add-on for PocketPC's. It adds an icon bar, much like Windows's Quick Launch bar. You can place as many applications (screen space permitting) to it's list as you wish simply by copying link files into the Launcher folder, and launch the applications with one tap."

The current beta also includes a small today plugin to launch the menus from today screen. (And transition animations for submenus and finger gestures, similar to the HTC cube. There's a cube animation, too, but not as default because I'm afraid slow devices won't show it properly.)
Apart from that, I'd recommend cLaunch or maybe rlToday, if you want more freedom but also more complicated setup (XML file).
man Mort you freakin rock!!!
Thank you so so much for your cool appz o' course i got Buttons n Player installed... gonna check out that new version you talked about...
cLaunch dont seem to work properly on my touch though, but installed the before mentioned launcher and thats ok for me.
again... THANK YOU MORT FOR YOUR GREAT WORK !!!

Can Opera 9.5 format the text of an website so it fits better to the screen like Netfront does?
I tried Opera 9.405 and Netfront 3.5. So far I would prefer the interface of the Opera browser but Netfront does a very good job when it comes to display text on the screen. No need to scroll horizontally and with the scroll wheel it's a pleasure to read long text passages.
I searched in the about:config if Opera can do that too, but didn't find anything. Unfortunately there are so many options, that I think I just overlooked it. Or is it really a "Netfront only"-Feature?
You just mean
tap and hold > Limit Paragraph On
???
(never worked with Netfront)
Yes, thank you! That's it. Unfortunately it uses less than half of my screen. Where can I change this?
Btw why do you mention "never worked with Netfront"? So far it works for me with Netfront.
I mean that I have personally never worked with the program Netfront
But it makes fully use of my screen with the version which I use... Don't know which settings you need to change, but I use this version:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1977766&postcount=30
Thanks again! With this version it displays it correctly AND there is an uninstaller! Whatever these people have done for modifications they seem to be quiet good. That makes Opera my favourite browser now.
Hi all,
Today I've upgrade my Asus P552 from WM6.1 to WM6.5.
first, my process manager ( Magic Button 2.1) is not compatible with WM 6.5
wich one do you suggest? I don't need a lot of features, but he must be always present in the title bar to simply quit an application, and he must be light.
Then, a rss reader call newstation is include in WM 6.5; it works with rss feeds, but it freeze when I try to add an atom feed, is there anything I can do to fix it?
Thanks.
ps: excuse my bad english, I'm not a native speaker.
I'm using Magic Button 2.1 on my Fuze with a 6.5 rom (23016). It works fine. You need to set the start menu and cprog to 'stay alive' and 'not show when active,' but otherwise, it works fine for me. Well, occasionally it will kill the start menu, particularly if I hit the x button when in the Settings panel. I haven't figured out how to re-start the menu without resettings, but I can use voice command to start anything if needed.
Are you sure it won't work on your phone? I really like it. If not, I'd recommend DotFred's Task Manager. If so, I'd still recommend using DF's TM-it's a great app.
Hi, thanks for reply.
In fact, it work, but as you can see, I've got display issues when I use it (look at the title bar and the button):
do you encounter the same problem? I'll try the others programs you suggest.
Yeah, the button obscures the battery meter and a little bit of the start menu 'S' shows. My advice? Don't look @ the battery meter. It's too good of an app to junk because of the overlay.
Does anybody know how to enable the multitouch and backbutton functionality in the new Opera Mobile 10 Beta?

Use registry editor to add in HKLM\Software\HTC\TouchGL\Pinch\WhiteList Key Opera10
in HKLM\Software\HTC\TouchGL\Pinch\WhiteList\Opera10 add REG_SZ, Name: ProcName Value Opera10-armv4i.exe.
soft reset.
Yes, but it's not true multitouch!
I don't think that there is any known method for enabling true multitouch on opera10
The "pinch to zoom" functionality in Opera 9.7 is actually part of the application, rather than a setting that can be controlled externally. It simply does not exist in v10 (I imagine), and therefore can't be switched on. Using the system style zooming is the only option for this.
Besides, as it was pointed out to me previously, Opera 10 doesn't actually have a smooth zoom. It's just zoomed or not zoomed.
Opera 10 are unstable on mi hd2, it freeze often and i need to restart. Someone now why?

Probably because it's a Beta. I've not heard of this problem before though. It looks really nice. I can't wait till they do a proper release of it.
I fully expect Opera to release a new version in the near future with full pinch zoom supported and the advantages V10 offers. Until then I will just continue to use the supplied version, despite the experience being considerably less satisfying and user-friendly than Safari on even my old 2.5 year old iPhone 2G.
Zoomer
Try zoomer for pitch zoom in all applications..
In order to get pinch to zoom to function in Opera 10, use the app of this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=589305
Works fine for me! Probably it will also be possible to get Opera to rotate to landscape with this app.
Update: rotation works fine, pinch%zoom works though a bit buggy.
Update 2: using P to Z gives you an extra "window" in thelower middle of the screen that only disappears when you reach normal zooming levels again. A bit annoying!
That's no pinch to zoom, that's blowing up a screen image without rescaling. But anyway, beta 2 is out and nothing is improved in this respect.
How about what they did with Igo8?
Igo8 doesn't come with pinch to zoom but someone has managed to get true pinch to zoom to work in it using a 3rd party .exe app.
is it possible to do the same thing with opera 10?
Opera 10 has multiple zoom levels, in the settings you can choose from 100 to 300%, thats not the problem. The problem is a) that theres no zoom slider in the ui that allows to zoom instantly and b) opera 10 does not regocnize multitouch gestures. I don't know about windows mobile, but I'm pretty sure that that would work on wm: With windows you can send commands to any windows such as scrool down, zoom etc. If the programmer did his job well, the application then does something with that commands. If that is possible with wm, I'm sure that opera did implement it. So the only thing that is required is to writte an app that a) detect that opera is active and that a multitouch gesture has been done and b) send the equivalent zoom command to opera. This is the same way HTC has implemented the zoom slider on the diamond2 and pro2. If somebody would try it, it isn't that hard, I'll do it if i have more time
Not only opera 10 on WM doesnt have any real pinch to zoom option it also doesnt have that option on Opera mini on iphone either! and i have no idea why is that? but my question is! is it possible that someone use some 9.7 version files on 10? to make it work??

Because you still don't understand how Opera Mini works.
Plugin
Opera 10 has Plugin Support on Windows Mobile Phones. So the only way to get that original zoom feeling back is writing a plugin that remodifies Opera.
I still don't understand why they removed that zooming feature from the new Browser version.
Ok, it has that special Textbox scaling which fits a text right into the screen width with a simple double click, but sometimes, this doesnt work properly and multitouch zooming would be a solution.
I hope for a relaunch in the next Opera version.
Hi. I'm using Vico's 6.5.5 Rom but I really miss the taskbar options that Wisbar advance used to give me (like showing what apps were running). I've tried the Beta 5 version of WB but it doesn't work with WM 6.5.5.
Does anyone know of a similar taskbar replacement that will work with this ROM, or a way to disable that annoying drop down finger menu in WM 6.5.5 that pops down every time you click the taskbar?
Phil.
I use quickmenu for that. A menu that displays your running programs and gives a option to close them individual or all at once.
QuickMenu V2.8.410.1610.CAB from this topic
You can place the Q button in the middle of the screen.
Woks very well on this 6.5.5 rom.
Oh, and disable the battery icon or you will be having two of them.
Do you want a program that shows running programs in the top bar? (the one were the clock is)?

Yeah, and also a way to modilfy the top bar and its po-out/drop-down curtain finger friendly thing (which I'd rather do without to be honest)

I'm giving this a try at the moment, thanks to your suggestion. It does give me some of the funtionality I'm looking for but it's not as nice as WA IMO.
