I'm searching for a complete icon set from android 2.1 with resolution at least 128x128. The only sets that I can find are around 20 icons, but I need a complete set with all the programs - task manager, file manager, calculator, camera, etc.
Any help will be appreciated..
PS. preferable in PNG...
If anybody interested, I've managed to create an Android icon set from different type of sources.

Why don´t you search in Android related forums/threads? There are many, of course including xda devs for Android based devices...

Hi, I am interested in the taskbar layout seen in the screenshot below.
Does anyone know what program it is ?
Looks like it might be usefull & I would like to try it but first I need the name so I can find out more.
Many thanks.
It's some of my voodoo, PhoneAlarm running a custom skin coupled with my VJToggleToday (I or II, depending on your OS) to map it as a replacement start bar.
All the gubbins are available here:

That particular screenshot is shown running my VJTodayButton, used for quick toggle access to the Today screen.

Voodoo.....
Was wondering my MDAIII feels like its got needles sticking out of it.
For some reason, when writing that post, I was thinking about Monkey Island and the voodoo lady/rubber chicken. Don't know why.
Although most of my programming requires the sacrificing of farmyard animals

vijay555, doesn't your phone crawl to a halt with all those things on your today screen? (like ages waking from standby, switching to today screen etc)
Cheers
Si
Mudstuffin: in the screenshow, I'm running PhoneAlarm with my skin, at the top (using VJToggleToday to remove the softkeys and the start bar at the top), then AlarmToday with some custom hacks, weather plugin, can't remember which, VJTodaySpacer, and finally VJEphemeris.
So it's not many today plugins, just 4 (not including VJTodaySpacer).
VJEphemeris has a lot of functionality, but it's highly optimised so it doesn't use the resources of say 5 different today plugins - it replaces my quotes plugin, claunch, a battery meter, VJAudioNotes = a plugin I wrote to show my current operator and telephone number (because I use a dual sim), incoming SMS, missed calls, and a huge stonking analog clock/alarm indicator/calendar shortcut. The layour is optimised for right handed thumb usage.
All in, it works extremely well. I suggest you set up your system efficiently first, make a backup, and then try the various today plugins you want. Don't go for bells and whistles, stick with efficient and effective. This setup works very well for me; I like the idea of Wisbar etc, but find that I can do most of what I need one handed with this setup. That's paramount for me.
I've never had problems of the system slowing down or running out of resources, although I use VJOkButt to close running apps, so the only thing ever running is one app, the Phone, and Today.

vijay, that quotes today plugin, what is it called?. it looks nice.. can i download it somewhere?
The quotes plugin is part of VJEphemeris, but it's based on code for VJQOTD, which is based on QOTD.
QOTD is open source, google for it, VJQOTD is unreleased although I make it available if asked, and VJEphemeris is unreleased. The VJEphemeris version is much improved/re-written, self resizing according to quote size etc and quote navigation etc.
You can see VJQOTD at the bottom of this (old) screenshot:

thanx vijay
found this one, QOTD 1.5 Copyright 2001-2003, priebesoft
will try it later today
well .that one from pribesoft didnt work so well, doesnt update everyday
Hello everybody.
I've installed a magnificent ROM in my HD2, I like it all but the changed icons set. Is it possible to have a CAB containing thge original Windows Mobile Icons set to replace the modified one?
Or where are the files to extract from the orginal HTC rom to override the actual ones to get the original icons?
Thanks and regards

The majority of the icons you see in a stock ROM are actually the icons embedded in the applications themselves. Icon's are generally not stored as separate entities on your device. This isn't always the case, but it's normal.
The modified icons you see are actually tied into the shortcuts, not the applications. To remove modified icons, you need to look at the following registry key...
\HKLM\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start
In there you will find registry keys that have are shortcuts and have a value called "Icon". (Guess what that is )
You can delete things from there, and as long as the app has its own icon, it will use that instead.
Just PLEASE make a backup of that whole registry key before you start. I'm not gonna be your 1st line support for the next month if you gash this up lol.
Hope that helps matey
I believe you can use a simple way to restore.JWMD Icon Changer has an option to restore/reset the icon. PLease tell us if it works.

It doesn't work...I think that the ROM has been cooked "without" the default icons

Whatever. No need to be rude mate. Good luck.
Hey people, i have been looking under tree and rock to finde some sort of way to organize Apps in to folders, in the main menu. With no luck so far.
I am i just blind and stupid or have Android made the same mistake as apple did with no way of organizing applications (albiet, appels problem is a bit bigger than Android's).
Anything to help me keep my Main Menu Organized ??
Kind Regards
Vicster!

"main menu" being application launcher drawer/cube? Or home screen?
Stock application launcher drawer/cube doesn't have the option, and I fail to see why anyone would need such an option, given that -
1) Home screen supports folders.
2) There are plenty of apps that allow grouping applications in "folders" of some kind (virtual ones) on the home screen.
Your "main menu" is the home screen(s), not the application drawer.
How about 'Apps Organizer' from the market.
- You can set up categories
- Apps can be in multiple categories
- Assign custom or predefined icons to these
- Both widget and shortcut support to put these categories on your home screens
- Fave apps so they stick to the top in the folders
- Optionally have all folders/categories as subfolder from 1 main folder. Now that cleans up everything into a single icon.
It's a lifesaver if you use a ton of apps and want to stay organized imho.
nice apps organizer
for me it has been FolderOrganizer by Fabio Collini for quite some time...
After trying every app organizer I could find I settled on "tag home" to fix this problem. You can create tabs in the launcher, sort the apps by tab, prioritize the items in the tab sort them, have an app under multiple tabs, (easier than remembering if gmail is in internet or communication) and you can shortcut the tags onto the desktop as folders. plus, it's free in the market.
Just my 2 cents, and that's about all my advice is worth....

I am also looking for an efficent solution! But i think we have to wait until apple releases its OS4.0, which will be able to organize apps.
Then suddenly there will be apps developed for android who do the same thing. Its sad, that it has to be this way...

Why would you think that? There was Advanced Launcher for 1.6 that did this, and many home alternatives that do this. It's harder for rosie because it is closed source.
PS. You can make a folder on the home screen for a long time and dump applications into it, just like the magical iPhone can't do yet.

Advanced Launcher doesnt work at all.
Does Rosie mean Sense? (Sorry i just got my first android device)
I didnt find a decend Homescreen replacement that has this feature. Only Tag Home Launcher, but this app slows my phone down (very noticeable!).
The Replacements, which worked fine (for example ADW Launcher or Launcher Pro), didnt have the ability to sort apps in the draer/starmenu...
If you could point me to an working replacement I would be happy!!!
But, coming from windows mobile my experience is: nothing new is developed until apple does it and then sudenly the market is flooded with apps, that do this. ( I was looking for more finger usability since Windows Mobile 2003SE ^^). Of course there are few exceptions...
But please proove me wrong!
About the ability to create folders on the homescreen: I know this ability exists! But in my opinion one big advantage of android is the widgets on the homescreen. I like my homescreen to show me the time, my appointments, the weather...
For launching purpose i would like a simple menu with all my apps (categorizeed, sorted the way i want it )
the way I see it: the iphone has no homescreen it only has a launcher. But soon this launcher will get better than the one from android (now they are equally bad^^) and that is when i think apps will be released to overcome this differnce. But it should be the other way around...
But again: please proove me wrong!

And here is a video showing how apple implemeted it:

its low res, but i am sure there will soon be a better video...
So until I find the perfect solution I'm using the folders created for the on-screen but I'd like to be able to rename the folders. As an Android n00b is that possible?

To change the folder name:
-Open the folder.
-Touch and hold the bar at the top of the folder.
This should give you the "Rename folder" dialog box.
Good luck.

Did you install sdkcerts before installing the taskbar? Something in shellres.192.dll is causing the problem. Can you slide over to your setting tab? if so hit menu, all settings, system, then remove programs to uninstall. Or set up one of your quicklinks to access file explorer, navigate to the cab, click on it as if your were going to reinstall and let it uninstall previous version then softreset and see if it fixes everything..
Yes I installed that first as it instructed. I was finally able to get into my applications and removed it and everything seems to be back to normal. I would really like to install new themes, etc. any idea of a good place to get the downloads from (seeing how my first try didnt work)? Thanks!
^^^ You´re at the best possible place.
But, you need to know a little bit what you´re doing.
A taskbar must fit your WinMo version, plus, as the previous tip said, the certification must be there.
Most tweaks and mods are made for specific versions, like any other software for any other operating system.
Once you´re familiar with those things, you can pimp as much as you want.

Thanks and sorry for all the questions but you guys are the expert. I would like to change my theme, icons, layout, etc. as I am quite bored with mine. Can you point me in right direction? I've downloaded a few different ones but none seem to work.
Thanks in advance for all the help!

I´m not really an expert, either... just a user like you. All I made is some graphics for clocks because I like them in real life, too...
As a beginner, I would start to look a little to what others do. This thread here is great to start: Klick! Maybe just start with the last pages, where you´ll see the latest tweaks and mods. Sometimes people write where they got what they use, sometimes you can ask.
One of the greatest tools to change the layout and the functionality of Sense (that´s the basic user interface of an HD2 using Windows Mobile 6.5) is CHT (short for coOkiemonster´s Home Tab): Klick!
Add some graphic mods and tweaks, and there you go. Some examples:
[6THEMES]Nordpolcampers Tranquility Theme Cabs up! + many more Themes
[THEME] WP7 UI and WM SKINS [UPDATED 26/5/11]
[ Theme.Windroid - The Final ]******** HTC SENSE 3.0*******
Please carefully read in each thread what the author says about instructions.
Last, but not least, there is much more to discover (as in if you like clocks, too, follow the link in my signature for some examples, those clocks are made to be used with CHT).
Enjoy your great device, have fun with personalizing!
Hello, Im a noob lol
Gone a few weeks now doing research and downloading appropriate software, mods, apps etc to customize a ROM for personal use, however I came into a noob bump.
I would like to edit the standard HTC Dream Settings menu (Where you can see ADWLauncher or CyanogenMod Settings) and I Would like to know the name of the file and its location to edit the menu.
Also the same for the defaults that get loaded (like desktop shortcuts, ringtones etc) location and file name so I can edit that too xD
Model: HTC Dream (G1), CyanogenMod 6.1.0
