I installed new task bar (dinik anastasia) and followed the instructions. It changed my icon at the top showing I had a VM but nothing else is showing. Now I can't get to my start screen. I understand I can unistall this problem is nothing happens when I touch start at the top and when I press the windows button at the bottom again nothing happens. So I cant even access the area needed to uninstall this program or anything else. Please help

Did you install sdkcerts before installing the taskbar? Something in shellres.192.dll is causing the problem. Can you slide over to your setting tab? if so hit menu, all settings, system, then remove programs to uninstall. Or set up one of your quicklinks to access file explorer, navigate to the cab, click on it as if your were going to reinstall and let it uninstall previous version then softreset and see if it fixes everything..
Yes I installed that first as it instructed. I was finally able to get into my applications and removed it and everything seems to be back to normal. I would really like to install new themes, etc. any idea of a good place to get the downloads from (seeing how my first try didnt work)? Thanks!
^^^ You´re at the best possible place.
But, you need to know a little bit what you´re doing.
A taskbar must fit your WinMo version, plus, as the previous tip said, the certification must be there.
Most tweaks and mods are made for specific versions, like any other software for any other operating system.
Once you´re familiar with those things, you can pimp as much as you want.

Thanks and sorry for all the questions but you guys are the expert. I would like to change my theme, icons, layout, etc. as I am quite bored with mine. Can you point me in right direction? I've downloaded a few different ones but none seem to work.
Thanks in advance for all the help!

I´m not really an expert, either... just a user like you. All I made is some graphics for clocks because I like them in real life, too...
As a beginner, I would start to look a little to what others do. This thread here is great to start: Klick! Maybe just start with the last pages, where you´ll see the latest tweaks and mods. Sometimes people write where they got what they use, sometimes you can ask.
One of the greatest tools to change the layout and the functionality of Sense (that´s the basic user interface of an HD2 using Windows Mobile 6.5) is CHT (short for coOkiemonster´s Home Tab): Klick!
Add some graphic mods and tweaks, and there you go. Some examples:
[6THEMES]Nordpolcampers Tranquility Theme Cabs up! + many more Themes
[THEME] WP7 UI and WM SKINS [UPDATED 26/5/11]
[ Theme.Windroid - The Final ]******** HTC SENSE 3.0*******
Please carefully read in each thread what the author says about instructions.
Last, but not least, there is much more to discover (as in if you like clocks, too, follow the link in my signature for some examples, those clocks are made to be used with CHT).
Enjoy your great device, have fun with personalizing!

I know the background of the start menu can be changed by:
1) changing the phones wallpaper like normal
OR
2) replacing the startmenu_background_screen_"resolution".png from within the windows folder.
The second is only if you want a different wallpaper in your start menu to the rest of your phone. (the default file is just a transparent .png which shows your normal wallpaper underneath)
I know you can also change the folder icons, by changing around other png files in the window folder.
My question is how can you change the font style or more importantly the colour?
Also, is it possible to change it so it resembles the wm6.1 start menu instead of the honeycomb?
(please dont say "just use a 6.1 ROM" because i dont want to. lol. I like wm6.5 as its quicker and more finger friendly, i just want the old start menu back)
no one know how to do these things?
anyone?
PLEASE?
im desperate here
lolz
As much or as little as you wish.
Have a look at some of the stuff I posted in here :-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=504320
Should answer a few of the basics.
Thanks for your reply, but those replies are about the today screen. I dont even use titanium any more. I find M2D more useful.
What i want to know is how to edit the Start menu.
the list of programs shown as hexagon icons
I want to change it to like how it was on wm6.1.
Just a grid of icons with words on a white background
OK, I have got what you are after... sounds like a registry hack somewhere....
Unfortunately the holiday(UK)/vacation(US), season is upon us, and I may not have found the solution for a week or two. If and when I do, I'll post it here and send you a PM.
Thank you.
Its appreciated

I second this question. And what I want is better not the 'grid view'.
Better we have a registry tweak way, so that we can make a HoneyComb Toggle.
In some cases when I want more RAM, it's better to shutdown the honeycomb and the titanium today plugin.
So another question is do we have a tool to toggle the titanium? Like we can do to M2D? I know we can do it through today settings, but I'm looking for a way like regitweak or mortscript, so that I can use a shortcut to map it to a hardware button, do it within one touch.
[Edit: Got some sence for the half of first question from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=509160&highlight=start+menu
Seems the WM6.5 honeycomb start menu is an executable called shell32.exe. If so we can shut it down with a powerful task manager like DotFred's TaskMgr.exe or let it show up in the htc task manager by registry tweak and kill it. Will report it back after I test it next week. Or anybody can test it right now?
But the first question still need an answer.
Edit3: So what is the process or service of the WM6.1 start menu ? (for that I think it's not an exe) This may help to answer the question of how to resemble old start menu back.
And then what is titanium? An exe, a process or a service? Got a name?]
Thanks for any help.
there isnt!
there isnt a way to back to 6.1 start menu...
but you can use the Qucik menu that is a lil same... but you need to leave blank the cpr file for grid scene on your windows folder... then use the Quick menu that Utaker post on devs and hack forum just search with this exact words " Quickmenu instead honeycomb" you may get all the answer you need there... Oh and the honey comb can be modded in maaaany ways just search all over the devs a nd hack sections
thanks bye.
Dear all, I know that probably you have heard this request already but after 2 days being stuck with trying to find a simple solution I decided to write. I need the following:
Simple task bar, soft key bar transparency cab.
Now I know this can be achieved through HDWall and TF3D but isn't there a most simple solution?
I tried using TF3D and couldn't find propper instructioins because they ende up here.
Tried the search function but nothing comes up.
Sorry for the new thread but will appreciate a lot if someone could give me a hint.

I know you've said you've already thought of HDWall, but I really don't see what's wrong with that as a solution. It's real easy to use and you simply end up with a cab file. It'll take like 2 minutes to create your own cab.
Just follow the instructions on the main HDWall thread and you'll have what you're asking for.
Thanks for the prompt reply. The only reason why I don't want to use it is because I love to change my wallpapers very oftenly (depending on my moods). That is why I was thinking of a most simple solution...

Well like I said, HDWall only takes a couple of minutes to create a cab, so you can have full resolution wallpaper, on all your tabs, with whatever config you want for the look of the whole screen. I've got a collection of cabs on my device. I can change my wallpaper simply by running one of them.
Each to their own, but it really is too easy.
Good luck
Hi, I've installed Duttys Task Manager, but it doesn't appear in the start menu, or in "Tools", but it does appear when I look to uninstall it from Start>Settings>Application>Manage application>Remove
I've tried several times with and without soft reset, but it's always the same.
It doesn't appear in File Explorer on the HD2, or Explorer on my desktop machine either (Vista Ultimate, 32 bit).
I'm also running these programs:
Two Peaks Billrate
eWallet
Gyrator2
Mobireader
Start Menu Grid 4
SPB Time3 (Demo)
TCPMP_netDrg V2
? Duttys Task Manager?
The end result I'm trying to achieve is to stop Gyrator2 exiting when I end all tasks from the task manager. I understand that Duttys Task Manager will let me do this.
Any ideas or alternative suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi. I think you cannot choose what programmes remain running with the task manager(Duttys)unless you close each app individually(leaving Gyrator running)
Hi, thanks for your reply. This is what I'm doing at the moment - closing each app individually - but I thought I'd read somewhere on the forum that Dutty's had an exclusion list. Maybe I'm wrong, in which case I won't bother with Dutty's at the moment. It's not that big a deal, but I only find out that Gyrator's not running when I need it. Cheers.
Hello again. I think you could use another task manager called showacase or showcase. That app has a config option.I'm not at home at the moment but i thnk i have it. once i get home, ill upload it for you.
Use the Touch X Task Manager. You can find it here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=584415
It gives you a task manager available from Sense (top-right corner). If you go into settings (click the wrench icon) then you can select any running app and add it to the exclusions list.
Hope this helps
Thanks rumz82 and johncmolyneux. I HAVE got Dutty's Task Manager after all. Like the Touch X Task Manager it creates a drop-down menu in the top right corner where several options are offered. I must be blind 'cos I didn't notice it! I haven't tried the options yet because I didn't want to waste any more of anyone's time. I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks again.

Heh - glad you found it okay. And I'm sorry mate, but LOL!!
I also like the word "mamager" thread title. It sounds like something for keeping boobs in order
Hum, yes, I see what you mean!
I'm not a very good typist, and sometimes a bit dyslexic. I usually rely on the spell-checker where I've put in all my usual mistakes for auto-correction. Another reason is that I usually work on my computer with an A4 pad in front of the keyboard for taking notes, and this doesn't give me a very good typing position. When I remove it I'm a lot more accurate, but I need it when I'm in problem-solving mode. Cheers.

I'm just having a bit of fun at your expense mate I'm terrible for going back and re-editting stuff that I typed previously. I'm just a real pedant, so I notice EVERYTHING! lol
No problem - I'm just as bad. I like good English and am a bit like you in that respect. I used to teach english as a foreign language, and I do like good grammar and spelling. I suppose I should be more tolerant but the quality of some of the posts really niggles me, and I'm talking about the posts by people where English is their first language!
Anyway, I've had a play with Dutty's Task MaNager, and it does what I need, but thanks for your help anyway. I wouldn't have noticed the drop-down menu without your post.
I've noticed your credit in the work with Co0kie.HomeTab_v1.6.1. I've read the posts and I'm very interested in getting more quicklinks on my home page, and more appointments too. Am I correct in thinking that I can do this without editing the registry? I've got confused. Are you the right person to ask?
Thanks again.

First of all, I'm glad you got your original issue sorted, and I'm happy to help
Secondly, Co0kie's Home Tab will modify the Sense Home Tab so that you can have multiple pages of quicklinks, ranging from 3x3 to 5x5. All the settings are registry entries, and that's where I came into the story. I made the CHTEditor which gives you the ability to change all the settings that Co0kieMonster made available to us, but via a GUI.
The GUI is unfortunatly a bit lacking in some respects (you have to click some things two or three times before they work; certain things are difficult to change etc.), but that will be resolved in the next version. The current version does work, and obviously makes it a lot easier to set up Co0kie's most excellent mod.
Have fun playing with your new home tab. It made my phone easily twice as useful!
Had the same issue. For me Duttys Task Manager just didnt show up in the right corner after installation.
But it showed up after the installation of another app.
For me i also felt that my battery drain was faster with the task manager AND after bootup it takes way longer until Sense is fully reacting on my input with it installed.
So i uninstalled it and now im using the Task Manager that comes with the HD2.
I have a shortcut in the Co0kies Home Tab to it and everytime im finished with an app i open the task manager and close all running apps. Simple but good
Thanks dameon12 - maybe I wasn't so blind after all! I'm not away from my charger for very long at the moment so I'm not able to comment on the battery life. I installed Dutty's Task Manager to stop Gyrator closing so that my screen will always change from portrait to landscape for applications where a wider screen is more useful - in my case, spreadsheets.
I'm experimenting in using my phone to send information I collect in my work back to base so I don't have to carry a laptop with me. I'm designing the spreadsheets to fit the screen in landscape mode.
Thanks also for the info about Co0kie's Home Tab. I'm going to experiment with that in a few days time when I've got a bit more time.
Cheers.
It's been a long minute since I posted one of these thingies. It's been like what, 6 months? Hehe I've been lagging on the new builds, sorry folks for not making a manilla release of my earlier work... my bad. The new kitchen ivanmmj put out is pretty chill and that's what I used to cook this bad boy up. As usual, it's RUU friendly.
20.18 MB RAM
36.95 MB storage
Build 28205... If anyone knows of a cleaner build, lemme know
Apps included
Xtask - mapped to the button that used to be the comm manager for easy task switching
Opera Mini 5 [not the beta] with Jbed
Nice for certain folks to get to crackin on TCPMP again, always loved that app and now it's leaner, meaner, and skinned hehe thanks bimbam69
Total Commander
Arcsoft MMS 5.2.8.45
XDA Shutdown
I decided to theme this bad boy fingerkb got upgraded to Swype, this one's pimpin Xpressyourcell's dusk blue skin scaled down to qvga, and for kicks n giggles I preloaded the dictionary with some basic swear words, so you can be cussing like a sailor right from the get go!
JWMD Icon Changer is also here as well, it has dZenkinZ icon set loaded on there, my bad for forgetting the start menu selection, that was from another theme.
I modified my shellres.96.dll file and ripped out the icons from tacchan23's dusk taskbar, and someone's android taskbar (I can't remember for the life of me it was a whiles ago), resized some and replaced just a couple.
This is also using DJ Cedric Blue Carbon titanium replacement, plus some of the icons were thrown into my shellres.96.dll
Oh yea... the start button is also a bit different, I don't like the M$ logo, what can I say?
I finally got how to proprely set a default theme upon cooking and this one is using lyapa's Azenisll theme. It's pretty sick in my book. I did some slight touching up on a couple of icons within it.
The lockscreen is skinned grzegorz10's dusk lock screen.
Still using the old school 8 button touch comm manager from my previous build, but I threw in some color, same dialer as before, nothing new there.
The boot screen does not lampoon the "president" of the United States any more. The welcomehead96 is filled with such evil I cannot describe it here but you can view the thumbnail below. I'll say it once and I'll say it again, Steve Jobs is a **** and the animated splash screen shows Apple what I think of their products. My bad for not being able to cite the artist offhand, but all credits go out to him/her.
All picture files were resized to the original size came from the kitchen and given the original file names, as were the icons in the shellres.96.dll to save on space and to alleviate any potential issues.
Feel free to download this from here: http://www.4shared.com/file/JanM4nbA/Gonz0_28205_RUU_Signed_0409.html

hehe memory leaks come pretty much standard with winmo, I don't think it's as bad as it could be... Oxios works great for cleaning up the memory leak... perhaps I should include it in the next one.

Flash method
Hello Gonz0
Can this ROM be flashed using the Flash Center? I'm new to all of this and I'm not going to try to act like I know what I'm doing. I flashed my phone (Wing) once and was totally surprised when it worked. I want to try it again. Let me know. Thanks.
hehe yea, go for it man, it'll work with flash center; go for it...
Haven't tried the SD method myself with it coz I've only got SDHC... (8 GB oh no!!!)
Only reason I haven't made any of those slim roms with sick amounts of extra space is coz of that. Lousy flash center and your f*&#[email protected] 50MB limitation. If only knew more on hex-editing.
My bad I'm ranting there but to answer your question; yes.
I tried to use the flash center, but it wouldn't work. Is there another way to flash this ROM. Remember, I don't know anything and will need some instruction. Thanks in advance.
Have you tried running it as an administrator?
If so; your next best bet would be to do a hard SPL on your phone, info on that can be found here:
http://thewingster.com/Documents/How to HardSPL (Wing-Herald).pdf
After you do that, you can just run the RUU flasher with the ROM in the same folder and u will be good... no more flash center
Sorry for the late responses. Are you referring to administrator on the pc? If so then yes. The phone, then I wouldn't have a clue. Let me know, thanks.
Yep, run as admin on ur pc... don't worry about the lag, don't think XDA isn't going anywhere anytime soon
Thanks - great ROM
Hi,
Thanks for this ROM. The wing has been stable so far since I moved to this ROM. The only thing I dislike about the ROM is the childish start-button (yes, I know you hate the Windows logo there). Any way to change it to some other icon?
Keep developing.... Us "wingers" depend on cooks like you to have a "current" phone... Thank you!

hehe I feel yah the start button is a bit childish to some, now if you wanna change it here's the hoops youre going to have to jump through
grab your shellres.96.dll file from ur /windows folder and drop it on ur PC
I am going from pure memory here but you'll need to find an app to remove M$'s digital signature on the file B$. You'll want to head to the link below to grab the tools.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=432041
Once you have that, use a resource editor like reshack to crack open your .dll file, once in there just navigate the tree until you find the icon to replace. For the start button in particular you will want to ensure your image is 24x24 and in .ico format.
you can find reshack over here
http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/
Once you replace that image you'll want to re-sign the file. After that's done put the file back on ur fone; you may need to use total commander to drop the newly edited file back in your /windows folder.
Reboot and one of two things will happen, you'll have whatever siiiiiick icon you put wherevers, or your phone will catch fire... j/k hehe

Thanks for the guidance. The "your phone will catch fire" part has me worried. Any way, it looks like a lot of hoops to jump through. I'll pass on this one. The smiley it is for now!
One more update, the dialer is a hit-and-miss thing. When you tap numbers, it is supposed to match contacts that has those letters, like "Ann" if you type "2-6-6". Sometimes it pulls up the contacts, and some other times no! Trying to replace the dialer. Took "TPC's Customized Black Mega Phone Canvas" dialer from forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=547959 - and after a few reboots.. it works! Had to remove my SD card to get it to boot the first time after installing the CAB.

hehe NP on passing the info, I didn't pay for it so why should you? That Mega Phone Canvas dialer looks sick and I did kinda make my own skin for it, only reason why I didn't use that in my release was due to the lack of "landscape love". If anyone knows of a phone canvas that's landscape friendly let me know. Was just joking on the catching fire part, my bad on that. Although modifying system files can seem not for the squeamish although it's not as hard as you think... grab on and slam into it head first!
update: Dug deeper in that post and found something that is landscape friendly... I knew there was something like that out there SUHWEET! Good lookin out on the link unfunda, as for the contacts matter, my bad... I have a few more voodoo rituals to perform on this next ROM i'm working on... stay tuned ppl
First Off im not a newb....i used the search function but we all know how ****ty that is....i found some answers but none of them relate to my issue...so please spare me the same "use the search" or "maybe you shouldnt of messed with your phone"
I downloaded the newest Cookies home tab and decided to delete it...now my sense wont load....everything else does though...I can hit the start button and it will bring up my start menu and ect.
I downloaded CHT to my storage card from the get go, does this make a difference?
If you could can you please give me the solution or provide me with the link if there already is a thread on this...
thank you.
Eeks, installing CHT to a Storage Card is 10,000% not recommended {as the main HTC Sense files it 'coincides' with are in your devices \Windows\ directory.}
There may be a fix, but don't take my word for it.
First, try installing CHT to your DEVICE this time, reset, then uninstall it.
If that doesn't work, download and install THIS to your device.
Once installed, tap the icon in your start menu once.
You'll see a 2 second Windows Wait Cursor.
Tap it again, this time it should spin a bit longer. Soft reset your device.
If Sense still won't load, I hate to say, but a Hard Reset may be in your best interest.
Just for the record, unless it's an Application or a Game, I wouldn't recommend installing anything else to your Storage Card.
Examples of things that should ALWAYS be installed to your device:
1.) WinMo Themes {taskbars, softkey bars, taskbar icons, etc..}
2.) Sense/Manila modifications, themes, etc..
3.) System Tweakers {cleaners, registry editors, ram optimizers, etc..}
Thank you! ill give this a shot when my phone is charged up
Sounds good. Hope you get the problem settled without the need of a Hard Reset.
Keep me updated.
Ok the first two didnt work.....if i do a hard reset im afraid that it isnt going to work and then im screwed because CHT is the only thing that is making my phone work
May I ask why you are trying to rid of CHT?
You can keep it installed and keep the basic look of the default Sense {with the help of the CHTE of course}.
Just style it up, and pretend it's not even there. <---being a smartass, sorry.
Also, if you do a hard-reset, it will just set your device back to day one {or to your ROMs default state}, so all changes you have made will be undone... think of it as a 'Fresh-Install' of Windows on a PC, because relatively, Hard Resetting is exactly that, except on a Mobile.
I did the hard reset and it worked. I also downloaded CHT again (to my device)
I wanted to delete it to see if everything would go back to the original, i dont know why i just like making sure every thing can go back to normal.
After I downloaded CHT again I also deleted it to see what would happen and the Sense will load now...... so now I have CHT and loving it. Thank you for you help
Well, sorry to hear that you had to Hard Reset, but I'm happy that you got everything running smooth.
Enjoy CHT. The possiblities are almost endless with it.
