What's up with O2 - do they know their a*** from their elbow

Let me set the scene...
A month ago I enquire to buy a new XDA2s but I want it unlatched to all networks. After MUCH hassle and calls I am told they can do this for a £15 fee. I eventually go for it and then find that actually THEY REQUIRE a £15 fee AND my 12 months line rental up front. No problems so I go for it....takes me about three tries to find soneone who knows what I am talking about and get it sorted.
So - I receive the phone and all is well. I call up to pay for it and the money is taken. I also try to pay the 12 months - after a lot of hassle they take the 12 months money up front and all is well.
So - today I get my first bill, expecting it to be a big fat 0 as I have hardly used the O2 sim.
NOPE - there is the usual line rental about to be taken from my account.
Straight on the phone to customer services where they are also suprised. However, they *think* that the policy may be that there is a 12 months line rental AND the usual monthly line rental. However, if that is the case they are not sure what happens at the end of 12 months - do I get a 12 month refund!!!! Anyway - I am on hold for 5 mins whilst a manger is consulted. Finally told there is no manager around and they need to check the policy - will call me back tomorrow or Monday. I'll be amazed if they do!
Just wondering if any of the rest of you have had this?
What should I do - tell them to stuff it if they insist on 12 months + 12 months????? I have had the phone more than 2 weeks so the usual rejection is out.
Annoyed a lot - Rich

Free Orange SPV c600 with Free 12 months line rental!

Checkout this deal!
Free SPV c600 with Free 12 months line rental on Orange Panther 45. that's a total cost of NOTHING on a 12 month contract.
Thats a free phone, 400 xnet minutes, 100 texts and free voicemail
http://www.cheapest4mobiles.co.uk/display.asp?hs=c600&network=&tariff=&gift=&phone=Orange_C600
I have just heard that Orange are cutting their commissions by £60 as from 1st October, so looks like the freebies will start to disappear shortly.
SOOOO tempted, just worried about not getting the cash back........ we've all heard the cash back stories
If its any help, i have been surfing the 12 months free line rental deals for 3 years and have always got my money.
You MUST follow the redemption offer to the letter though. I have heard several horror stories, but bye and large the consumer has messed up somewhere (forgetting to send on time, sending the wrong paperwork or not sending recorded delivery) so if you dont play their game, they will refuse to honour it, and they will exploit any failure on your part.
I have several mates who also took out one of these deals last year, they have all received their cash too, so I am pretty confident. I must admit I was sceptical the first time though!!
The deal has now closed..... cheapest is £175!

what would you do?

hey there,
i'd like to buy the touch pro 2 but I do not know what kind of contract I shoud sign.
1) I've got 500 credits. Every minute I talk or every sms is 1 credit. Terhe is an internet flat and every credit more costs 29 ct.
All in All it's 45€/month.
2) Internet flat, 150 free-sms/month, flat to the carrier (O2) and flat to the fixed lines. It's 30€/month. Every minute to another carrier is 19ct/min or sms. So I could talk about 50 mins to another carrier to pay 45€ (the same price as above).
I mostly phone to fixed lines and mobiles, but not to a special carrier. 150 sms is enough, but 50 mins phoning to other carriers is not enough I think.
What would you do?
Maybe skype could be some kind of alternative for people with other carriers, but thats not really a great solution...

[Q] Is there any point in keeping a second phone

Hi All,
I have a galaxy s 2 and I got it by getting this deal
£150 + £13 p/m for 24 months
which is pretty good as works out about the price of the phone sim free but I only get 50 mins 250 texts and 100mb internet
So I went for this deal from quidco
100 mins + 100 texts + 500mb internet + unlimited landline (or can be any booster)
+ free galaxy apollo (I think this is a galaxy 3?)
costs roughly £180 over 24 months (£5 somthing for 12 and £10something for the next 12) and get £80 cashback so about £105 for the 24 months which is roughly the amount I will save if I drop my internet booster from my galaxy s sim (£3 per month)
Anyway I gave the details as thats a great deal for the contract alone but you also get the galaxy apollo.
The question is should I sell the phone for £40-£50 or is there any reason I should keep it? I know it is good to have a backup but is there any other point in haveing 2 phones? Just think it's a waste selling the phone for so little
Thanks

Looking for PREpaid GSM in NC, cheap!

Guys, I barely use my phone and when I was on Tmobile, I had 400 mins which I never went over.
I'd like data access but NOT necessary and I text VERY little.
So, bottom line, for what I have and where I am, is there anyone that sells, REALLY low prepaid options?
Something that you can buy (minutes) and NOT be forced to buy more every month. Let's say you can buy 20 bucks worth of mins and they don't expire for 90 days or so. I could live with PHONE only and no text and web.
I have a Nexus one, unlocked and I am in NC, close to Charlotte (28103 zip).
Also, how much does a nexus one sell for in good condition (just curious).
Thanks
George
