MotoBlur and Pulse.... Why??

Why is no one porting MotoBlur and Pulse to the Sapphire MT3G? Why is everyone so stuck on Hero?

There HAVE been blur ports in the past. Do a little research before you make generalized statements. And Hero is more popular because it already came off an HTC device. It's easier to cook.

Please do just a little research before creating a new topic!

now the real question is why we dont see these for the 32a

Question, and maybe someone can direct me where to find it but whats the difference between Pulse, and Motoblur?

Polaris and Ronni... I did research before posting and found only one pulse rom and 3 motoblur roms compared to the hundreds of hero roms. My post was simple and just a question. Why? That was all. If I was a youngster with no forum know how, then your down talking would be understood. Thanks anyway.

Sorry but your post "Why is no one porting MotoBlur and Pulse to the Sapphire MT3G?" makes it seem like you didn't research at all. Like polaris0352 wrote is that Hero is easier to cook plus it's more popular. But i hope it won't be long before we start to see more non-htc roms for our magics!

I think part of the reason is that GPS and WiFi don't work, which means the uptake is a lot less. Once WiFi and GPS are working (which apparently won't happen until Dragon is available) then I'd bet more ports of these roms will start to appear. I like Blur and would make it my permanent rom if the wireless wasn't an issue.

because hero comes from an HTC phone wich would lead one to believe it would be much easier to run on our HTC phones...
motoblur was alright didnt like the feel and its hard to make moto and HTC play nice
Pulse....welll.... i think pulse sucked others like it though
I know there are at least 3 pulse roms that are decent and there are 2-3 blur roms that run enough to use

I've created 32A porting packages for both Pulse and MotoBlur ROM some time ago.

Im running a Blur Rom that WiFi is working on but there were no instructions on partition setup, if any. It is real smooth but when I put my own wallpaper on, it seems to slow down a bit.

Can you Post a Link to the WiFi working Blur?
I've not seen any Blur with WiFi working at all due to the Kernel requirements.

I will have to find the link for you guys. The Rom is running on my MT3G 32B Rooted. Im going to assume that the WiFi works for that Im using WiFi Tether to connect to the internet with my laptop as I type. I will get a link after while. The file name is MotoCliq_v0.5.zip. I think Drizzy put it out. Not for certain though.

The reason for the lack of ports is honestly the firmware being so tied to social aspects. All the "cool" features are in the UI with the social stuff, but the rest of the firmware... well... sucks. I ported both and got bored in a couple days. Hero has new dumps and new versions of sense and the prospect of updating to 1.6 and eventually 2.0 These are done. One dump, one version, no projected future. Not much room to grow. Hero has all the features this does and then some, with the exception of universal inbox and the way launcher reacts. Pulse isnt really much of a ROM, either. Its just a cool UI and a bunch of paid apps put together into a firmware.

I hear ya. I just get tired of looking at the same bottom bar and out of all the times I try to ask for help, no one wants to share on how to get started making my own with my own look. I have seen a hero rom with a somewhat Pulse bottom bar and it looked killer but the slowness of the rom was not bareable.

I actually flashed the new Andriod 2.0 Eclair to my phone. It is a stripped down Rom and has nothing in it but MAN do I like the lock screen and menu play. Very nice, clean and cool. I wish I had Eclair with a MotoBlur look and feel and Hero internals. I do like Blur's social widgets. Nice!

They won't, so far they only have it for hero and haven't been given the ok to release it from their sources. If their sources gave them 2.1 hero, you can trust they won't lose them by giving out leaked things prematurely

Don't worry, I hate people who have the hero and the 288MB ram and all that!
I would NEVER give those people the rom! I only want to apply my camera mod, so we can all have G1's running 2.1 WITH camera active in no time

THen upload the com or what ever and send a pm or something to the devs about your modification and stuff.

I understand, but my camera-hack is pretty great (should it work on 2.1).
I don't want any developers taking credit for my hard work. So P.M. me if you want the hack, but only if you can give me 2.1..

I hate to be the bear of bad news but I don't think any of the Dev will give out the 2.1 rom, your best bet might be to inform them about your hack .But I could be wrong keep asking see what happens.

What's to make us assume that none of the devs haven't already fixed the camera in 2.1? Why not jump in and fix the camera problems on 2.0 (which most of us already have)? If you can get to a point where you're sure it's working in 2.1 (which you don't have), you should be able to get to that same point in 2.0 (which is readily available) I'd think. Sounds like a ploy to get ahold of 2.1 to me.

I am sure that it would be a good trade.
Again, if anyone has 2.1, hit me up. I will livestream myself showing the 2.0 rom with the camera (partially) working. If the person with 2.1 can show me proof that he is really in possession of 2.1, then I will share the files with him. After that, I expect 2.1.
This is a fair trade, as I will give the camera files *before* I receive 2.1 so it's not a scam, in case you thought that..

Again I say, the only people that have 2.1 are people that have sources straight from people at htc. They will NOT give 2.1 to you for fear of losing their sources. I want it just as bad, trust me, my g1 could use some (flan?) sense. So far my dev of choice has it and has posted screenshots, he says that it is already very fast without optimization. Your best bet to get 2.1 would be to either wait for someone that has it to release it, or get it from someone at Htc

and for real, please dont drop anything w/ it not only because we will all req it to be taken down right away but the watermarks lead back to source, which leads to firing, which leads to more fear of releasing things.

i'd be happy with a fully working 2.0... i don't quite understand why people have to be sooooo bleeding edge that they're willing to scarifice daily usability... but that's just me.

I can wait for 2.1. But I consider 2.0 more bleeding edge then 2.1. 2.1, hopefully is just bug squashing.

Google 'porting' the 2.0 navigation to 1.6 imo is saying a lot..
But i would be happy to see 2.0 on G1, maybe not so happy to have it eating up all the ram

[Request]Sense Ui for MyTouch 3G 32b

I don't know if this as already been requested or not (and before you start flamming me, I did search).
I want to ask the cook community if it's possible to release and apk of the sense ui for the official 1.6 rom (I know I could just flash a new rom, but I don't have the expertise to do it by myself).
My reasoning for making this request is the following.
If it's possible to include the Sense in several roms, them it should be possible to create an .apk to install it, like when you install htc home screen on windows mobile pocket pc.

How is saying "it can't be done" not useful? That's like me asking someone to make my magic faster than a computer! Is that possible? Probably not and I think it'd be nice (if I actually thought it could happen) if someone informed me that it's not possible.
I'm not a dev, but I think I can come up with reasonable answers for your question.
Since you aren't even able to flash a new rom (which requires pressing about 5 buttons after root, I don't know how you're not able to do that?), I'm assuming you know almost nothing and I thought it'd be a good idea to inform you, that something like this would be a waste of time and almost impossible. so, it can't really be done. Installing an APK file goes into your system/app or data/app. The sense ui has a freak ton of APK files along with it so installing just 1 apk file well (in my opinion) would not work out well at all. I believe there are also these odex files or whatever (I don't know much about them) but if I'm correct, those will also cause more problems. I belive that the original sense ui has a bunch of apk files in the system/app/ folder and people here even have issues porting out stuff from it, so good luck getting the whole thing out into an APK file on an unrooted phone.
It makes no sense to do this when we could just flash a rom.
Maybe someone could do something like the dxtop or GDE or w/e but that stuff lags like crazy and would probably be missing a lot of things from sense ui. Sense UI is nice and smooth, but already has some lag. It would be horrible and totally a bad idea imo.
Oh and one last thing, it's being done on the 2.1 right now. Why go back to 1.6
I find it ironic that you complain not to waste time and to not post something like "it can't be done." I could've just said that instead of explaining it to you but whatever, I could be wrong. I doubt you understood anything anyways and I think you sort of wasted the time of whoever read this because you didn't do enough research. But if someone can actually do this! As for your strangeness on my inability to install a custom rom, well, let me put it this way, I don't understand half of the steps to get the phone rooted, the right spl, radio and so on... In fact, the only flaw I have to point to the xda-community is that most, if not all, simply assume that everyone knows the "technical" terms by heart, which is not true. And you my friend (allow me to call you that) just made me an huge favor, by putting it in very simple and plain terms.

The only way you'll really understand and learn it is to do it. For starters, do not touch your Hboot/SPL and Radio. That's the main reason people brick. For example, some people think it's a good idea to erase their Hboot and then reboot the phone. I don't know why, but as long as you don't touch the things which have high risk, you'll be fine. Just follow instructions and play with it (It will consume a lot of time though). Another advice is to get a recovery image on your phone first. Otherwise, you'll encounter a soft brick which may be a pain in the ass

normally i don't do this but i don't honestly think you have any idea what you 're talking about.
Sense was first run on 1.5 under the old hero framework last summer. The Droid Eris and Sprint Hero still haven't undergone OTA updates and are still running on 1.5 it was htc's decision to bypass 1.6 altogether.
So having said that, its possible if someone were to take the time to wade through HTC's garble and put it on a 1.6 OS, but why do that when eclair is out???

Rooting a rom is a big step but an easy step. Let me tell you the best place to begin sort of a precursor before you come to XDA and thats TheUnlockr.com...They have all the tutorials for rooting, etc with video links to make it a "nice transition". thats where i started...then come back here and get ya feet dirty

i can see why u dont normally do it.. because u dont know what ur talking about... the htc tattoo is running sense ui on top of donut.. its the only phone that got it... so check your info before u accuse someone of not knowing what they are talking about..

I can see your apprehension on rooting your phone, but you yourself said you did a lot of research on getting a sense APK for your unrooted phone. why not use some of the research time looking on this crazy website called google.com where you can search things like "how to root a MT3G 32B" upon doing so you will discover a WIDE selection of how to's, you also might find that they link you directly to videos on this other website called youtube.com that show you STEP by STEP how to root your phone. one might say its so easy a caveman could do it.
IMHO if you're too lazy to do any of these things, you probably shouldnt root your phone at all. people wouldnt flame you if didnt come off like an asshole in your first post.

well if u looked at the op he was asking about getting the sense apk (rosie) and putting it in a 1.6 rom... and ur the dumb f*ck that stepped in with a pointless and idiotic response...idiotic because you didnt bother to search before saying i didnt know what i was talking about...

Tattoo is 1.6, but it's a WVGA device, G1 is a HVGA device then all object in Tattoo will be small than your G1 screen.

no eugene made a tattoo 1.6 sense rom, but there was a MAJOR ISSUE WITH SCREEN SIZE. its fully functional, just everything is half as big...

ur an idiot.. the op wants to know if its possible to build a 1.6 rom and add sense to it... its not possible if not it would had already been done!... but htc did do it on the tattoo..and only works on the tattoo... there is a tattoo port out there for the mt3g/g1 but thats it.... yea my first post wasnt very clear.. but i was just letting the op know about the tattoo port incase he wanted to try it out...

Believe me I understand it takes time and effort to make something deferent but ain't that whole point to start with... Thats the whole hacking idea in general, im not hating on anyone its just the way I see it, it takes to long to make the same crud over and over again and just got some small type of differences which make one stand out, here and there... I believe that if ox and devil and peter something came together something better would just spring up idk you guys tell me what you think?

That was before the theme engine days. Themes aren't for everyone, so leaving the rom looking stock gives the enduser the power of personalization.

well from what i been trying i really dont mind a os that is stockish but with some features. I am looking at stability and features. so far the only one i have found this with after trying all the cm7 nightly(114 to 180) I finally switch to superosr and its seems good comes stock but options to custom from the menu. I find that cool.

believe it or not there's this craze going on, about everyone wanting slim, clean, fast roms
you should check out SuperAOS, that one is packed with tons of stuff
but if you really want to be unique, start creating your own ROM, then you can do whatever the heck you want to it, and fully load it with stuff you want

CM7 is about as modded as I like a ROM to be but I do miss all the options that were available on the EVO 4G. Sense is fun to play with but I always come back to CM7. I just love some of the simple refinements such as toggle widgets on the status bar and the lock screen.

Hey im new to all this root , ROM, and things like that, i dont know anything about them. Thething is that i hate that Htc sense restarts everytime i hit home button, i just wanna know if there is any way to make this phone a full stock android 4 experience that useas all the hardware like bluetooth, wifi, and most of all the full features of the camera which is why i bought the phone. what version are you on in hboot?
if 1.55 go here

after that just flash a custom cwm recovery on adb fastboot (via bootloader press vol- and power and youll get your hboot version then fastboot mode to enter adb commands)

Bulletproof is the only 2.3 ROM I've used and it's rock solid. I'm currently using CM9a5 (ICS ROM), and for the most part it's functional. There are a few annoyances that have me looking for my next ROM, but I haven't decided on any particular one yet.
From my limited experience, development for the MT4GS is slow compared to some other phones. There probably aren't more than a dozen good ROM's to choose from. The upside to that, is that there aren't 100's of bad ROM's to get lost in either. There are some good instructions available for Rooting your phone and the locals here are friendly. The flame rate is very low. Don't be afraid to ask questions, don't step on people's toes and know what posts belong in which sub-forums before you post and you'll do fine.

Now correct me if I misunderstand but it sounds like you're looking for Stock Ice Cream Sandwich that is senseless with EVERYTHING working just like your's does now as well as the HTC Stock camera with 1080p video recording along with the stereo sound. Or is it "most all" of its features?
Sounds like a big ole NO to me unless you can compromise and I've missed something in the past year. But you're certainly in the right place to select your second choice. You see, HTC has never and never will release Stock ICS for this phone. Doesn't mean we can't help you get it on there though. I'm afraid if your wish list is your "bottom line" tho then you picked the wrooooong phone.
....just between you and me tho, our developers have got some damn fine ROMs of every flavor that do "almost" everything you ask.

Man i dont even know what hboot and all that stuff you said is. I just want to have instructions on how to do it cuz i really dont know anthing

i picked the phone because it was free and i loved the camera but i always have to use Go launcher Ex and different launchers because sense always restarts, So, aye you sayin that there is no way to make this phone senseless with most of ts features working?

SURE there is! And believe me, we're more than happy to help you out around here. All I was saying is that you won't find ICS (android 4.x.x) with everything PERFECT along with the full functional DS camera. So tell me....are you ready to take the plunge?

If you're downloading CM9.1 off of ROM Manager, just about everything works with the occasional random reboot if you toggle Airplane Mode enough.

I...we'd....be more than happy too. We kinda pride ourselves on having a real community attitude around here.
What works and doesn't work really depends on the ROM you want to try out for a while. But MOSTLY the main issue in ICS is 1028p video recording. It's been a real stinker for ANY developer to crack on ANY device. Now if that's a huge issue we have a few SWEET GingerBread ROMs avaiable to us that has EVERYthing working including the camera. They are sense but they surely don't reload and reload sense everytime you blink your eyes. Once loaded...they are LOADED!
The ones I'm talking about are BulletProof & MikTouch. They are quick and rock solid.
Also in the group I have to include DoubleShot Lite although the first two are my personal preferences.
THEN.....there's Ice Cream Sandwich..............
Edit: Shoot! I forgot that there IS a senseless ROM with the DS camera called Rubix Senseless 4.0 and there is another that is really tight and reminds a person of the Apple OS if you're so inclined. That one is MIUI v0.3 and really full featured too. (But remember, these are ALL GingerBread....)

well the video recording is not of a problem for me thats okay ,I would like to try it man i've always wanted a stock ics experience . hey but can you help me step by step? cuz this phone is stock and i dont even know whats next

I'd sure be happy to give it a shot! First of all you'll need to install your basic drivers so your phone & computer can talk to each other. It should have come on your phone's sdcard. It's called HTCDriver.exe. If so, store it on your computer in a new directory so you can find your new Android stuff and run it. If it isn't let me know and I'll post it for you.
After you've done that we're going to need to get ADB (android debug) installed on your computer so you can control some funtions of your phone from there. This is where that tutorial is located. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1858478

Oh Thanks for your help man i appreciate it . So I just installed the htcdiver.exe and the ADB step by step is already installed y my computer. Whats netx? Thanks

Have you checked to make sure adb is connecting to your phone yet? If not type adb device & it should spit back your serial number.
EDIT: Sorry....that's adb DEVICES

mmm do I type that in the command prompt? because I did and it says not recognized... Hey man do you have an email where we can chat faster ? because this thing makes me wait for 5 minutes to message back.

Sorry man. Something came up & had to run....but yeah, from the command prompt. But when it comes up you need to type cd\ to take you to a C:\ (C prompt). If you followed all those instructions to a tee including putting your adb folder in the Windows path & rebooting it should return a sequence:

I do have an email and don't mind you having it but it's always a better idea to do all this out here so the process can be shared. It's not beyond me or anyone to make a mistake either and if I tell you something wrong usually someone will be kind enough to correct me too so I won't be leading you down a wrong path. noob needs clarification... NO ICS with original camera?
I've been reading over this post and some others on the site and confused a little but i think i know the answer.
can anyone tell me, is there ANY ICS rom for the mt4gs that also has the original camera that we had on stock gingerbread? I am currently running CM9 and love it, but having a huge time getting past the camera. I have bought camera zoom FX and a few others but NOTHING is as good as the original camera we had! Im actually willing to go back to stock to get the camera back but going to REALLY miss how great and fast ICS runs on our phone!

There are some good camera apps available for ICS but unfortunately none have been able to bring in the original for our phone. There are several really good gingerbread ROMs that have it though. You could always do what several of us do though & just make yourself a nandroid of a couple that you like the best after you have them all set up like you want them. Then, if you really need or want that camera for something special that day you can always flash back to it. Properly named nandroids are a flashaholics very best friend.

I've been suggesting for months that someone port the framework for the camera to vanilla/AOSP Android, but no one's willing to reverse-engineer the Sense framework. One of the many reasons why I keep saying Sense needs to die in a fire and its framework unceremoniously thrown into the Mariana Trench.

That would sure be nice!!! It's really about the only thing about ICS that I'm not satisfied with. I'm afraid it's going to be the only thing with JB too. Although I guess that's not bad out of an entire operating system.....
