Has anyone ever managed to get Android running on a Touch Cruise 09?
I have followed the various threads in this forum and they all suggest that it should be possible. However, HaRET quits with an exception after the boot progress bar has reached 100%. I have googled and searched this forum for a solution and found one thread that suggests that HaRET does not support the Touch Cruise's MSM7225 CPU.
Having had a look at the HaRET website, this seems to be true.
I am confused. So, has anyone actually managed to get Android running on a Touch Cruise 09 (without flashing the ROM)?
T.
Try the Raphael/Diamond/Blackstone thread, you will have a better chance with them because those device have a cpu closer to the Iolite. Search XANDROID
Thanks for your reply. After sifting through a myriad of threads I found that the Touch Cruise 09 is actually not a Pola200 - although one of the threads in this forum claims so. And, no one seems to have got Android running on the TC09 (lolite) so far.
I will search through the forums as you suggested. Maybe I can find something useful ...
Thanks again for taking the time to reply.
The IOLITE/TC09 is actually the same as the tattoo, to the look as well, except for g-sensor(I think). If you can get dzo to make a kernel for it then you can run anything the tattoo can.
well hello there...
many of the wm htc phones with arm processors have a type of memory/stuff.
you can check what type of arm you have by removing the battery from your phone and read the small word just above the barcode.
for a touch cruise 09 this "architecture" is defined as: JADE.
the haret software (witch boots linux to the phone) can handle many types of architectures.
it needs to know what architecture has to be used on the phone.
many distros of htconandroid, etc. come with Default.txt or startup.txt
in this TXT a command line is made saying "set mtype 1234" where 1234 is the architecture needed to load.
for jade no possible architecture is being known.
from my experiments with the code, i can say that it is kinda difficult to get android to work on jade (wich only comes with the htc touch cruise 09). someone would need to reprogram the whole kernel and Haret.exe to get everything to work.
that would be the answer to this topic

Hi Wizkidz, Magician Junkies, HTC Hacking Staff, and all!
Is there possible to put Linux OS to the Magician? If so, I can do it in the same way like BA? I want to try it, but I'm not sure it is possible, and if it is, will it be stable?
Waiting for replies....
See here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Xanadux
Thanks for the link.
I've already saw it somewhere, but I'm not sure that is possible on Magician. You know that a lot of PDAs supports WM5 but Magician isn't. So I think it is possible on some devices, but not sure on Magician.
Any experiences?
I don't know about those guys, but I've found a "good try":
http://userpage.fu-berlin.de/~zabel/magician/README
If you follow that, it boots graphical GPE and you have access to a number of applications.
The touchscreen works, but the whole thing is quite unstable on my pda - the apps keep crashing on launch - and AFAIK there is absolutely no support for phone capabilities. The sound driver is also gone. Bluetooth seems to work out of the box.
But as I said, it looks like a nice try, with a lot of potencial.
does the current hardware support Android ?
If it does, anyone knows when we can expect an alpha release ?
nah, don't think so. If you've watched something on the video it seems that its gonna need quite a lot ram and video memory
I read that it has quite low hardware requirements and that most of the currently available devices have the capability to run android. So I hope that our beloved prophet will be running it, too.
I'm really waiting to see it on my Prophet
What about PDAVIET can he do it >?????
good idea
i hope prophet support
SDK available here!
Enjoy!!
Has anyone managed to run android on prophet yet? I've seen several reports of android running htc touch's around the tubes. Lets make this happen shall we, even is its unusable, just for the sake of saying, "look, that's android on my super prophet.punk."
thanks.
Haret seems to boot
It starts booting the kernel
Then fade to white
When pressing power button dump back in windows.
Seem to get quite somewhere, any people who like to try?
Used this files:
http://www.myhtcphone.com/downloads/14-files/3-file-for-automatic-and-easy-installation
The android kernel as released by Google doesn't have support for alot of the hardware devices in the prophet, including the OMAP850. Linwizard does, so the first stage of getting it to work will be getting the two kernels in sync.
That said, the prophet is below the minimum ram and rom specs for android so its unknown whether it will actually be able to run or not. I suppose one could try restricting the emulator and seeing how it runs with limited memory before jumping in to the kernel conversion.
eemmmmm.... seem like prophet hardware wont support for Android...
ANDROID 0.8 boots on prophet
Hi,
After trying a lot of zimage and android images with haret, i finaly found one that boots with prophet. It's a 0.8 ANDROID made for the HTC Wizard ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=403015&page=4 ). It is really slow and really few hardware is supported but it's a good step to start a good port for our prophet.
Thanks to Patoche for his work on the wizard. Hope he will continue and some people join the projetct.
will definitely try
Hi there!
As I am using an HTC Touch now, I have a spare Magician which I want to try Linux on.
I have seen many projects like openMOKO, GPE etc. on the net, but they all have in common that HaRET is used to start on the Magician. What I would like to do is to flash a Linux-Image over the WM2003 (i. e. directly into the internal flash), so I have kind of a "native" Linux PDA.
AFAIK, the boot loader "U-Boot" is able to boot an HTC Hermes, so what is the problem with Magician? Does it contain such incompatible hardware or is it due to lack of interfaces (serial port, hardware console to control U-Boot etc.)?
My experience level: I have built some embedded Linux Systems based on WiFi Router boards (Realtek, MIPS), but this is my first ARM/Intel PXA project. So I am somewhat concerned not to brick the device right at the beginning ;-)
Thanks,
Schlot

hi dude..
i jus tried the OPENMOKO(linux) on my magician it looks very promising but most of the features r not yet working properly..plus i tried alot but wasnt able2 find even d sound settings it seems very complicated at this stage but hope ppl developing it might make it much more better n user friendly..
The speed of responding is another issue but i can say 1 thing the graphics the gui is flawless..loved using it for around 2days den was bugged so switched back to TX 2.03 rom which presently seems d best..
just hope some 1 in our forums may b some senior member takes interest n tries to develop a wm6 or atleast wm5 for our magician..
Hope the best.
Regards Chigz.
HaRet was download Linux kernel in memorie (where been windos),becoase HardReset.
sorry for poor eng.

I also tried OPENMOKO and I agree it does not seem to be that stable atm.
However, I am not interested in putting WM5 or WM6 onto the device, as I already have a WM6 phone. I just want to play a bit with a mobile Linux system ;-)
Has there been any progress, schlot - or did you loose interest?

Hi, I have not really lost my interest, but I am working on a few other projects which I (or other people) actually need, while I am going to try this one here just for fun - which makes an "ultra-low-priority"-project out of it ;-)
So sorry, there is no progress yet...
But I did some experiments with linux on router hardware, so I understand more and more what embedded devices work like.
Cheers,
Thomas
Hello Everyone. I have been looking through the android threads and I had a simple question that I did not see answered among those threads. The questions is this.
Are there any versions of Android that can boot as soon as the phone starts up? From what I have read, you have to always launch android manually.
Sorry if I missed a thread somewhere that covers this but I have not seen it anywhere. An answer or simple point to the right direction would be much appreciated. Thank you everyone for your time.
Answer: NO.
BUT...soon to be. dzo will make it possible soon, not sure how long it will take..since he doesnt have a kaiser, but he did it for vogue and said he will do it for kaiser.

Technically no, as stated before DZO is working on it.
As for a "trick" to make it "auto boot", yes there is. Change the name of your default.txt to startup.txt this makes HaRET run without asking when clicked. Now place a shortcut to HaRET in your windows/start up foder. This way windows will automatically run HaRET as soon as the phone starts. And if there is an issue with Android, just remove the SD card and restart the phone. Doing this will act like it boots into Android, just a few seconds slower
Thank you for the responses. I have an I-phone 3GS now but always appreciated the new capibilities for the Kaiser made possible by the awesome chefs in this forum. I look forward to trying an Android Rom soon.

Actually, dzo does (or did) have a Kaiser. He was responsible for the first port of Android from the Vogue to the Kaiser. He was given a Kaiser by an anonymous member of this forum. Search the big Kaiser Android thread for "anonymous" and you'll see what I mean.
Once again I have a simple question that is probably a bit n00bish.
what requirements of andriod app can you use? Ive never had a andriod phone but I know that you have andriod 1.1 1.6 2.0 etc.
Im guessing the `more recent the app,the less likely it will work.

For as far as I know: you can use most of the apps that suite our resolution used in our default.txt's and startup.txt's. Allso notice that, if an app is depending on a certain piece of hardware that is not working yet with that build, that you can't use it. For instance: we don't have working bluetooth yet, so bluetooth dependant apps could be kind of a hassle.
I have tried many builds and figured that most ION and Donut related apps seem to work for me.
I have an older chinese GPS receiver where I wanted to change the link in menu and replaces file ResidentFlash/mobilenavigator/mobilenavigator.exe with mort script. The original file is in the same folder but with the name mobilenavigator_old.exe After reset I see boot loader going without any errors then see sand clock sign, and then black screen with nothing on it but it's responding on clicks with the sound. No ActiveSync connection with the device, however PC "feels" the USB device and recognizes it as "SEC S3C2410X Test B/D". Installing SECdriver doesn help, no connection. Placing various files and folders on SD doesnt help, I tried 2577/Autorun.exe , shell.ini , YFGo2CE.bld , neither of those help. There is original folder on SD called mobilenavigator and there is original path mobilenavigator/2577/Autorun.exe but nothing works.
The device itself looks exactly thike this one: http://www.100-gift.com/custom_product/2/2516-4/GPS-Navigation35-Inch-H035-301096.html The processor ARM926M 266MHz, Pictures of menus taken from another forum are here: http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/5398/oldg750.jpg and here: http://img102.imageshack.us/img102/1070/gps.jpg Any help would be very appreciated, I need to fix this animal as soon as possible.
SOLUTION:The device called Menq v350 (too long to explain how I found it out) or it's twin called BluePanther v350. The BluePanther has firmware on the web here: http://pdaplus.hu/content/view/4276/1/ I removed BOOT loader from firmware to make safer upgrade and upgraded the device. Now it works great.
Hello brack11,
Thanks to your posting, I can now identify my chinese pna.
I would be most obliged if you could share how you removed the BOOT loader from the firmware.
Also my unit is running Win CE 4.2. I have no problems loading iGO 8, Amigo and Primo. However loading Garmin still eludes me till today. I understand from other forums that it would be a whole lot easier if the device was running Win CE 5. Any chance you think of flashing this chinese pna to WinCE 5?
Hope to hear from you soon, regards.

If your unit has wince version lower than 5 then yours must be different from described, what serial number or product code you have there?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Thanks for the quick reply, brack11,
There are two sets of numbers on the back cover:
1. Below the barcode: 0420080006
2. Another sticker with: KW-GM3505A080300414
Googling Bluepanther V350 and Menq V350, I did notice that some specs showed with Win CE 4.2 loaded whilst some come with WinCE 5.0. I suspect therefore that there might be a possibility that different WinCE versions may have been loaded at different time of manufacture. This I am hoping gives me the possibility of upgrading to WinCE 5.0.
Anyhow, while looking at the registry, I stumbled on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\OEM with values: Platform "SINCHUN" and OEM "SG-N350G"
Googling SG-N350G also confirmed that my unit appears identical to the images you posted.
What do you think? Regards.
Found the solution at forum.mobilism.org/viewtopic.php?p=265659
GarminXT runs nicely now on my pna.
hy.I have one chinese navigation and i need ROM but I can not find, the navigation is IGO-350 B
