I've updated the Tilt keyboard fix to address the apparent issue with the Smartdialer keys also being incorrectly mapped when flashing a non AT&T ROM onto the Tilt. This will also fix the FN character issues being incorrectly mapped too.
This was tested on a Tilt flashed with the (current) HTC ROM and worked perfectly.
Install -> Soft Reset
Enjoy!
IMPORTANT:
Some people have reported that this cab didn't fix their Smartdialer issue. It's important that you uninstall the older cab that was posted here (if you even installed it), then soft reset. Then install the new one and soft reset one more time. That should do it.
Do not unzip/decompress this .cab file on your desktop and move the files over to your device. It won't work. You need to copy the .cab (as is) onto your device and tap to install.
Great job thx.
Thanks!
This is great! Any tips on how to accomplish the reverse...if someone say, wanted to put the Tilt ROM on their Kaiser?

Remove the registry key and soft-reset.
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD]
"CWSLayout"=dword:00000001

You "should" be able to just navigate to:
HKLM\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD and delete CWSLayout, then soft-reset.
EDIT: Dang, Pof beat me to it.
Awesome. Thanks guys!
gret work
i got the tilt at 12 today and took it home and startedripping it apart, I put the htc rom on with msvc 1.6, live search, the nice battery icon and the home plug-in customizer, thats it, on my hermes i needed so maney things to make it function, i like the tilt now that the keyboard is fixed.

When you flash the HTC ROM (or any non-ATT ROM) onto the ATT Tilt, some of the alternate (FN) characters on the keyboard are mapped incorrectly. This fixes that.

It is a registry entry. I was originally looking for the same "qwerty" entry (like in the 8525), but instead the following was the culprit:
Code:
[HKLM\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD]
create - CWSLayout - value (1)

ahhh - i have a feeling there will be many registry differences from 8525 to 8925....
Thanks for the knowledge

I have a bit of an issue when on phone mode. This fixes the FN issue, but doesn't fix the caps issue when on the phone mode. I'm trying to search for a name and the W is a Q, T is a V, there is no S, D is a F, and so on...
Hey all,
I am currently using the energy rom with TF3D2..
I'm not to good at alterations to the phone and tweaks etc. but i am wondering.. on the home screen where the clock is.. the softkeys are LEFT: Contacts RIGHT: Comm Mgr.
Now my question is.. am i able to change the Comm Mgr. one (as i never use it) to say an action screen that i've installed? I have tried numerous things and they dont seem to work. On the original Touch Flo i knew how to do it but as i said, i cant figure out how to do it on the new one..
Any help would be much appreciated!

My bad. Thats a ROMeOS exclusive thing .
Sounds like you are using WM6.5.
The CHome homescreen takes over the softkey assignments the same way TouchFlo3D does. In order to change the Left and Right Softkey, you'll have to make the change manually in the registry or from a CHome Titanium Customizer.
The registry setting is easy if you know the link url to the file you want
Go to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\CHome\CClock\
Find the Strings "SK2TEXT" and "SK2URL". The SK2TEXT is the name the button will display, and the URL is the link.
If you're wondering, in the main CHome Key (folder) you'll find the SK1TEXT and SK1URL which is the Left SoftKey; although I would leave contacts up there.
he said hes using tf3d2. he didnt say he was using chome.
Thanks for that! I found it in the registry.. the only thing is.. how do i create a URL for the program that i want to run when i click that softkey?

I have solved it and changed the key. Thank you all for the help!
This is a quick modification of the eT9.Cedar.wwe.kmap.txt to enable long press to get FN+Key.
This file has only been tested on a Ozone.
Install Instructions:
Unzip the attached file.
Backup your original file \windows\eT9.Cedar.wwe.kmap.txt
I included original this in the zip
Replace modified kmap file with the one in windows\
I used Mobile Explorer in My MobileR 1.23 to replace file. I'm sure there are other ways that are probably easier (Total Commander), but this worked for me.
reboot phone.

I have 3vo cooked rom from ookba, and my FN key doesnt work in the screen for typing in my peap user name and password. I replaced my keymap with this one, but it still doesnt work. Any advice?

The key map was not meant to be a solution for the bug in the rom but it does help overcome some of the function key issues like in the URL address bar and other locations, but does not correct them all. For example, I still have an issue with passwords in Opera that require function keys.
You could try use My Mobiler to enter in your username/password. You could also try a hard reset after flashing the rom.
I have no doubt that ookba will find a solution for us. We just have to be patient...
With that said, I find this key map change very useful with everyday typing.

I replaced the keymap with yours using resco explorer and saw no change whatsoever. I even opened up mobile explorer to make sure that it did in fact overwrite the file and saw your header at the top so I know it did. Do you have to enable any xt9 settings or anything? When i hold down the key i want to get the fn+key press for, it just repeats it like normal.

Did you soft reset the phone after you replaced the keymap? Try it in Internet Explorer. Some apps like Skyfire and Opera mini don't seem to like the key modification especially if you are using ookba rom.

The possition fix works for any program. So if there are other programs that have an overlap problem, here is a simple fix.
I have been trying to do this using xtasks for swype without any luck. have you managed to add the swype window class using this.

I'm sorry but I don't use swype. It seems to do a pretty good job though for any class name. Give it a try (although I don't think xtasks or for example ameba uses another mechanism) But hey, who knows?
haven't tried xtasks but Ameba is good. only prob is that u need to disable the position fix when running Garmin.
showcase 1.01 in the 1st post is known to crash / freeze in the new WM builds.
u can't position fix the swype keyboard unfortunately. there's a general registry setting to adjust the SIP display area but swype (2.0 at least) seems to ignore this.

i have trouble with wm6.5.x when installing programs... i tried to install pocket player 5.3.5.. when finished the installation, have to press OK button in the right angle, on top, but is not visible (hidden under the small clock) and can not touch it, as there is the titlebarlist from wm6.5.x (an other thing that i hate) .. or other programs have a button to the right corner, to the bottom, hidden by the large bottom bar.. it is any solution to automaticaly resize the windows of the programs to the size of wm6.5.x ?

Total Commander
Hi All,
Anyone know of a way to position fix Total Commander on 6.5.x?
I love this program and use it all the time but the toolbar overlaps at the bottom. I've tried both Ameba and e-natives position fix but they don't do it.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks.

Hi!
I don't like the default WM 6.5 "honeycomb" start menu. Would it be possible in some way to use the Sense 2.5 program picker (the one used for adding programs to the quick launch list in manila 2.5) as a program launcher? And ideally even bind it to the windows hardware button?
Regards,
PK
sorry, don't know how to do that (although it would be nice)
however -- quickmenu is a useful alternative -- and it can be assigned to the hardware "win" key...

I'm doing this exact program mate. It will need to be run in conjunction with Co0kie's Home Tab v1.7+ though, and that's not released yet.
It'll be out within the next couple of weeks though, unless anything changes.
The only thing it won't do is bind to the windows button, but you could just put it as a quicklink on your home tab instead.

Nice! I hope its the one with the "matrix" layout.
But why isn't it possible to bind it to the w-button. Is it a design decision? Or is it a implementation contraint?
