Hi!
I don't like the default WM 6.5 "honeycomb" start menu. Would it be possible in some way to use the Sense 2.5 program picker (the one used for adding programs to the quick launch list in manila 2.5) as a program launcher? And ideally even bind it to the windows hardware button?
Regards,
PK
sorry, don't know how to do that (although it would be nice)
however -- quickmenu is a useful alternative -- and it can be assigned to the hardware "win" key...

I'm doing this exact program mate. It will need to be run in conjunction with Co0kie's Home Tab v1.7+ though, and that's not released yet.
It'll be out within the next couple of weeks though, unless anything changes.
The only thing it won't do is bind to the windows button, but you could just put it as a quicklink on your home tab instead.

Nice! I hope its the one with the "matrix" layout.
But why isn't it possible to bind it to the w-button. Is it a design decision? Or is it a implementation contraint?

Hi!
Have you tried it? I did, and it did not seem to work properly. Only slowed down everything. I tried installing on the latest x-treme ROM (6.5.x). Both the windows soft button and tha hardware button stopped working after install.
@johncmolyneux: I hope you continue to develop your app.

Heh - okay. I'll bear it in mind for when the next release of Co0kie's Home Tab comes out.

I really like the new start menu but I'd love to be able to access it when I have TF3D unticked. Any ideas on wether this is possible or is it too much a part of TF3D to separate out?
Thanks

I would like some of the other touchflow stuff like the contacts as well. But like you i dont want to use TF3D.
I do not think this is possible.
The start-menu is an sort of tab of TouchFlo, which needs TouchFlo to be launched.
What you could try is TouchFlo Detacher (use search function), it allows you to switch between the default windows mobile Today screen and touchflo, in this case TouchFlo is running (if you hide it instead of closing, option of TFdetacher)
Just an idea, not sure if it works, but you can give it a try..
I have the Attach one installation and work like a charm.

I don't know whether this solves your problem. I installed AT0mAng & Danny_and_2 TF3D2 Tweak app. And i used Start Menu Off option and it worked for me.
Wow, there it is what i was searching for such a long time.
Guy's,
Since WkTask task manager is not updated for a long time and is not perorming well on WM6.5 platform.
Please suggest some of good alternatives, it will help to get the right task manager for future (WM6.5) builds.
Cheers
QuickMenu
I have always used QuickMenu. Before anyone says anything - I don't replace the main Start Menu, but use it with it. (Make sure 'Replace system's start-menu is unticked). Also in the 'Menu Items', I only have 'Running Tasks', 'QuickMneu' and 'Programs'. The latter I set to Custom folders, which simply contains 'New SMS' and 'H-V Switch'.
The reason why I use it, is because it doesn't hide the text of the toolbar, which is important for some programs I run (eg, it displays how many characters used/left in an SMS message). And if I want to switch tasks, I simply click on the StartMenu logo. The normal StartMenu is simply obtained by pressing next to it (see attach #1).
You see, it's all in the way you set it up.
attach #2 and #3 show what happens when you click on StartMenu logo. You can then go to (or close) any task task you wish. You can even close all other tasks (except the one you've got at the front). You can add your own programs.
If you really want, it can replace the main StartMenu, but I tend not to like this.
QuickMenu 2.8en (website|download)
Quickmenu is handy indeed but it is finger/thumb -hostile. The fastest ever is aebutton plus task manager. It is not free unfortunately.
If you want finger friendly, howabout WKTaskSwitcher which thingonaspring used in his ROM? or is that just a wkTask variant? It was launched via the light button, and then I think you just chose your app (from a selection of icons on the screen).
(I must admit, though, that I didn't prefer it myself ).
Weird, WkTask works perfectly on my WM6.5

QuickMenu is just as finger friendly as the Start Menu!
darfri, just wondering if you have a Uni - it's the first time I've seen you on this part of the site, and there's not one in your signature?

Well, wktask has issue with image transparency, it simply can't handle new styled taskbar under wm65.
QM has no issue with that but it is making conflict with honeycomb. Only htc task manager performed well on all these aspects but its memory footprint is non-tolerable.
Anyway, I'll use htc if no better alternative is discovered.

No I do not have uni. I am using an rss reader to catch up with the xda and read all the new threads. That is how I happen to be here. I think this is not an uni-only problem btw (the wktask slowness ofcourse might be more device specific).
What abou PBar?

I used it when no task manager was available in the ROM.

No.
But i think SPB Time integrates with WP.
what do you mean wp?
Well, there is a way to integrate G-Alarm, so why not Spb Time? Their 3.0 version is quite nice, by the way.
+1
I must say that I am pretty amazed by the interface of version 3.
Would be great to have it linked with the Sense Home menu.
Anyone managed to do it?
It did work on my Touch HD but not in HD2, so I have now given up completely. I was able to get bits of it to work like phone filtering but it was just too much grief and the today bit keep on being greyed-out.
Now moved over to Magi Call and it is so much better, does calls and sms and I so wish that if SPB bring out a new version that they take a look at this program and try and better it if they can.
Spb time on home screen
M currently using SPB TIME directly from home screen. when i press alarm button it automatically takes me to spb time app, u just need to install cookie's home tab and u can edit alarm in registry.
cheers
try this:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=493810&page=27
(or search for SSMAHO)
...no probs on my HD2 (spbtime, pocketinformant)

it´s written in the post already: install Cookies Home Tab. With it instaled you can select any appication to start when clicking to the clock of your Home Tab
use CHT
then in cht Editor > Application
change alarm +/- clock to Spb
Thanx for the replies guys, but this method only opens up the alarm set screen,it doesn't directly open SPB Time itself which is what I'm after (from the home screen rather than using a quicklink)
Edit : I stand corrected I didnt add the clock to the application list, that did the trick cheers.
I can get CHT to link to SPB alarm and it will open it up, but it main tab doesn't show any alarms set. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Will

if you just need to edit homepage shortcuts it may be a better solution to run CHT 1.6.1, it's lghter and needs less resources than CHT 2.
SPB Mobile shell is another good option, it will show on homepage your spb time alarms
I had problems finding a working version of QuickMenu for HD2, so I modified my own .cab a bit. I hope this will help others as well. Im attaching a version for norwegian ROM and also for the WWE.
If anyone want to use it on other languages, the only modification after installation is to change 0409 to your own local code in the files:
Program Files\Qmenu\QMenuCfg.dll.0409.mui
Program Files\Qmenu\QuickMenu.exe.0409.mui
and then in the settings of QuickMenu change the path for your local start menu.
so do we lost the original wm6.5 start menu?
no, the original start menu is stil present if you click on the text "start" instead of the actual start menu icon. you can also choose yourself in the settings whether the start menu hardware key will open Quick Menu, or windows' original start menu =)
This is awesome! Thx
Only issue I don't like is that it removes the built in taskmanager that can be accessed by pressed the top right corner by the battery.
Can't both be present?
Does somebody have a volume buttons problem after installing?
ROM 1.48.405 (and smth.)
Niiiice!
There are a couple of spelling errors in the Quick menu in WWE:
'Execute' rather than 'Excute'
'Options' rather than 'Option'.
Is there a way to show user defined icons rather than the system defaults in the menus as many will have installed a different set?
Great!
It works very, very well with HTC HD2!
Congratulations and thanks a lot!
JC
Thanks, works very well in conjuction with WM 6.5.x (except the interception of the close button)
Very finger friendly when you set the "Menu item edge" to 15 or more.
Thanks for sharing

*working* QuickMenu for HD2
hi guys, I've seen several threads on QM for HD2. I've been using a version which I picked up somewhere, and has worked flawlessly for all HD2 ROMs I've tried so far.
I also commented in this thread.
Quote from that thread:
I've been using QM since I saw it in one of nrg28 ROMs. the version I downloaded (no clue where from) behaves differently:
- no action if I tap the battery button, other than notification bar showing
- QM is activated by pressing left-top on taskbar (where previous Start was, now typically black area)
- and, and this is the best part imho, it is activated by a short press on the Windows HW button no need to reprogram long press of Send or End button. brilliant!

Hi
I just try it on my Hd2 with Greek language. Is working ok but I see no letters
at all. How can I see the letters? how can I do that with the language?
Can you give me some details how to do it since I'm new om WM devices?
Thank you.
I added the files below. mui for the Polish language and complete an application with the Polish language
Excellent app., this is what I need instead of SPB Mobile Shell (worked great on my Touch Diamond 1, but not on the HD2).
Been looking for these features
- Closing apps from the Today screen
- Reboot function
And handy (but less important)
- Starting apps
- Managing connections
Thank you !
Hi,
i've got a MDA Compact V which is the same as TD2, from T-Mobile.
It has WinMo 6.5 and Manila 2.1.19xxx.
On the TF3D Homescreen looks "only" like this:
imgbox.de/users/public/images/0uZKnIve0w.Jpeg
I already tried to install another Clock and I also would like to add some Buttons or something on the homescreen.
What do I need??

I can recommend Cookie's Home Tab as a great tool to customize your homescreen. You can get it from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=792303

From what i understand, CHT doesn't support manila 2.1
if it somehow does work for you, the customization need another piece of software call CHT editor.
Thanks Vyis.
Since I posted my message I realised that my Sense was only 2.1
I upgraded to the latest htc stock rom and it now works.
I am looking for information about CHT editor to see what that does.
Thanks again - I much appreciate you having taken the time to reply.
