What does this do?
When launched it shows your last 15 applications. Just an improvement over the home long press functionality that is limited to 6.
You can launch it by long pressing search.
To Install:
Code:
adb install MoreRecent.apk
if you had a previous version, use this to reinstall:
Code:
adb install -r MoreRecent.apk
Code:
The code can be seen at http://code.google.com/p/morerecent/
This is my first app so be gentle

If it replaced the actual home long press, it would be simply brilliant. Though I'd assume that isn't easy to be done. Very nice first app though, useful.
Awesome!!
Just installed. The labels get cut off on mine for some reason:
Aside from that, the functionality seems great so far!
Yes, overriding the Home Long press would be downright AMAZING.
However, I'm 99% sure it's impossible...?
For now I'll be using Button Shortcut ( http://www.cyrket.com/p/android/com.socialnmobile.buttonshortcuts/ ) to hijack Search button's long press for Recent12. However, Button Shortcut is extremely buggy and it often stops working (Search long press doing nothing) or it brings up the settings menu rather than the app I have a shortcut to.
If Home long press can't be overwritten, overwriting Search long press would be awesome (without having to go through Button Shortcut as a middleman)

If you're using CM, bcrook has a system level replacement for the recent apps which shows upto 15 recent apps... configurable. Pershoot has made this an update zip... http://droidbasement.com/db-blog/?p=241
Also, not to get crazy or anything here, but how about an option for 15 apps

I say 15 because it looks like that would be the maximum amount that could fit perfectly on screen, while still having equal buffer room on top/bottom for style (and seeing the status bar etc). And the goal here is more apps in the Recent list anyway

The app name changed, you can either keep the old app (Recent12) or uninstall it.
It looks much better now without the white bg.

I agree but the version put out by Pershoot fixes a graphical glitch that causes lag in certain CPU intensive apps/games. This Mod does not. Not taking anything away from the OP just pointing out a big upside to the Pershoot version

Can you elaborate? I haven't used Pershoot's version since I'm on Sense.
How does increasing the recent apps list cause lag in other apps and games?

Maybe so, but unlike Pershoots versions this app, not mod, did not mess with my current theme setup. No digging in files and replacing png's. Don't get me wrong I enjoy and very much appreciate the work that he did, just britoso's version is an app, easier to install and it didn't conflict with any thing else on my phone. In my opinion that is
Great app. Thanks.

Downloading it now.. it looks beautiful .. awesome work man
aaah, dang... I thought this was a WIDGET...
If the carousel remained on my home screen and allowed me to swipe up/down to go from apps to games to fav people, etc... I'd pay quite a bit for it...
ALSO!! Here is a good idea...
Why not make it so that the crousel automatically adjusts for the number of shortcuts assigned to it?
I/E: instead of adding 4 shortcuts and getting those and 12 "Stars"... just have the 4 shortcuts showing; evenly spaced.
To support development; i purchased the full version!

You don't have to take any special action. This is how the application looks like. If something looks different, there's probably some issue with OpenGL on your phone.
Try playing with the background and transparency settings (Menu -> Settings)
Try completely transparent and opaque backgrounds and see if it helps.
If you're still having issues, e-mail me, Let me know what phone and what Android version you're using, and I'll check if there's anything I can do.
This is great stuff LiorG, though when opening the settings menu I can't seem to interact with it sometimes, and the times I can I have to wait a good few minutes beforehand. Other than that it's sweet!

The application should look like in the screen capture "out of the box", no need to do anything special.
What version of Android are you using? What ROM? What phone?
love it... but if you could add a feature for custom icons per carousel itd be the best. or even some predefined icons for say like games, tools, media, music, video, documents...

Are you using any theme? I had a few users reporting such a problem when using themes.
I'm running CyanogenMod ROM (4.2.10.1) without any theme and it works perfectly.

Make sure that all your contacts have a default number assigned to them. A default number is denoted by a small check-mark next to the number.
To assign one, open your phone's contact app, and view the desired contact, long-press a number and select "Make default number".
This happened automatically up to Android 1.6, but starting Android 2.0 it doesn't.
In the next update I will improve contact selection, and it won't count on the default number anymore.
I originally wrote Frame me for my Hero and released it under the Hero forums. Since it should work on any phone I though I would add a thread here as well. I only have my Hero to test with so if you have something other than a Hero I would love to hear your feedback.
In short, Frame me is a 1x1 widget of a photo that enlarges to full screen when clicked. Here are a few features:
Now working with the Atrix external SDCard
1x1, 1x2, 2x1, 2x2 Widgets
full screen image when clicked
multiple widgets supported
selectable picture frames
Crop image when selecting
Full widget preview on your background
Click on one widget - Fling to the others
Click on widget and fling through images in user selected directory
timed rotation of widget image in directory mode
Reconfigure existing widgets
Atrix external SDCard support
Frameless image
My Application website is at: http://deanstudios.net/dev/frameme
More details can be found at the site above or in the Hero App thread, HERE. FrameMe is available as a free download on the Hero thread. However, If you enjoy it and wish say thanks, it is also in the market for $0.99. Below are a few screenshots give you an idea. Click one of the links above to read the details or download. Thanks combatdan! The lag, I am sure, is due to the processor in my Hero. It isn't horrible, just more than it was with a single image (or a single widget, I keep 4 up).

Just letting you know, version 1.1.2 has just been released. Includes a minor change to the directory option (thumbnails now show when clicked) and 7 new frames. More information through the links in the OP.
Okay everyone version 1.2.0 is out and ready to be enjoyed. There were significant layout and code changes to this one so if you find a bug PLEASE let me know. Especially you guys on hdpi devices. So, here is the short list of changes:
Full widget preview on your own background during the widget configuration
Simplified layout (easier for me to add frames)
Reconfigurable widgets, press menu while widget is full screen for widget settings.
Graphical frame selection – awwww pretty!
Bug fixes – pesky bugs
Code performance improvements
Enjoy! Links are updated on the original post.
The application works wonderfully but the 1x1 widget is almost impossible to see anything. Is there any chance in the future update of size 2x2.
Yes, a 2x2 is on my to-do list. I originally wrote this for my own use and the 1x1 is what I needed and couldn't find. I have had several requests for a 2x2 and am currently working on it.
Glad you like it!!

Hi Rookie4life, I know what you are talking about. That should have been solved in version 1.2.1. Actually, that was the reason I put out 1.2.1. What version do you have installed? Links in the Hero form (available in OP) should be updated for the latest version. If this is still happening with 1.2.1 then I will have to look into it some more.
ahhh... yes i have 1.2.0

Hi Vegasden, do you click on the text "click here to set dir" and choose a directory or just press save after clicking the check box? Either way it shouldn't FC. I will look and see if I can determine where that happens. Let me know if you are also setting a directory path.
I have just released an application CopyAndPaste in alpha release onto the market if anyone would like to try it out.
The application is one way of solving the issue of selecting text in android. There are a lot of bugs to be worked on, but the main problem is the inaccuracy of the OCR engine. If enough people find the app useful then I will continue to update it and possibly make it open source.
To Do:
multi-touch handles

Thanks for the feedback and ratings in the market. I have decided to continue development on this application and I am working on an update to fix some small issues right now.
For the people who could not get it to work, please check that you have given the app superuser permissions and let me know if it is still not working.
Works pretty well so far. Some suggestions
Make it so instead of launching from the notification bar, launch from long press search.
Make it so you can select to the edges
Make it easy to completely quit
Might think of more later

Your welcome, and thank you for trying it out. How did you find the application?
Just added another update:
1) completely re-designed the handles now they work in 4 way directions and you can use them without covering the center with your finger. 2) fixed some force close issues people were having.
3) option to launch it from longpress search
4) many new settings in the preference menu to choose the type of handles for selection
Please post here if it works for you. Thanks for all the suggestions.

- it´s great
thanx for the new app, it´s standard now on my phone.
Edit: sometimes icons stays in statusbar...check/uncheck icon in settings solves this.

It appears that when I start the app and resize the selection box, the initial box that appears stays imprinted until I exit the app or copy the selection. Also it seems to not be able to copy accurately for me, it would get the first few words correctly then it becomes completely gibberish
CM6 Nexus one. It fails to install if CM tries to install to SD card. Installs fine on internal storage. Works great when copying just one line. Starts to get gibberishy after 1-2 lines. Kinda slow to start up. A landscape mode would be awesome. Overall doesn't make me want to throw the phone across the room like the built in copy paste. I will be using it for my copy/paste needs. Please continue developing it.

I will check the selection box, there is probably a problem with the activity. It might be getting gibberish because of the selection that you make. Try to make as small a selection as possible. It might also be a problem with the program, I and do some tests for the next update. Thank you for trying the app, stay tuned for future updates.

This is yet another widget that shows the tablet and dock battery level.
The style is minimalist and, imho, integrates well with Honeycomb theme.
The widget uses a service to update: it requires very few resources and It wakes up only when receiving an ACTION_BATTERY_CHANGED intent and only if the screen is on.

Clemsyn-Blade Kernel 10b, dock battery monitor not working.
Use this app to send me some debugging information (don't warry, the application don't have internet access, it simply fills out an email that then you'll need to submit manually).
Done..........
dock_status=1 --> DOCK_STATE_UNDOCKED
dock_level=0 --> no battery charge level
If the TF was connected to the dock when you sent me the email, then the kernel you're using does not provide correct information about the dock...
I guess that also other dock battery level widgets give you the same problem.
Yeah, none seem to work with that kernel. Guess I'll change kernels.

Yup, looks like Asus added some customisations to get the dock info displaying. The "OC" kernels currently out aren't based off the official Asus kernel so don't have the required customisations.
2 things.
1. When I first installed, did not show up on the widget list, had to reboot. Using stock 3.1
2. Widget is hard to see if not using a dark wallpaper, how about option to make widget look like your API icon? That actually looks really good!

Yep, I know, unfortunately it's an HC bug that affect all widgets:
Flexer said:
Note: On the current release of Honeycomb, it is possible that the widget will not immediately appear in the widget list after installation. To refresh the widget list, you should either restart your device, or restart the launcher app (Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications -> All -> Launcher -> Force stop)

Sure, I can make some customization like differet themes or color scheme.
I did not understand what you mean when you talk about "your API icon"

Sorry, stupid autocorrect, typing on the Transformer. I meant your APK icon.
Flashed back to stock kernel and this now works for me.
Best battery widget so far in my opinion because it fits with the style of the HC stock UI.
I applied a shadow to the text, so it can be read on light backgrounds (check the topic):
The next day I'll try to work on some background images
I like it, but it shows "Dock" twice, instead of "Tablet" and "Dock".

Ooops! Fixed
EDIT
WTH, the bug is clearly visible in the screenshot! I'm too tired, better go to bed xD
Wow, that's a pretty cool looking widget
Job well done!
Thank you, your widget also looks good
I saw that you also had to switch to a service, I'm not a services fan, but I fear that it's the only solution .
Yeah, that's true..
I tried to keep the receiver within the widget itself, but the OS just kills the widget process pretty fast (and rightly so, I guess), so service it is
It's really light though, and hardly does anything at all, so that's a relief, at least
Just wanted to send another thanks, this widget has served me quite well so far and I like it's compactness/design.
Thanks, unfortunately it does not seem like much to others XDA users

Well, they probably don't appreciate consistency in UI as much then.
Everyone knows that feeling when someone asks to use your phone but you're afraid to let them because they can go through everything on it. This is a serious privacy issue within Android; there is no easy way to lend others your phone without them being able to go through it. That's why I created Obstructer, an app for Android that blocks access to your device's content when you let others use your phone. It works by disabling the home button, the recent app screen and the notification bar. This makes everything on your phone inaccessible until you enter a password that opens when the call is ended.

This is pretty good. Could you please upload the apk to your OP so that people without Play Store access can download it as well? Thanks.

Hello,
I've tried this app on my Xperia Z1 Compact and I have a few security flaws: The recents button is not disabled and when using Google Keyboard, you can long press the spacebar to get into the settings app. Also, you should probably disable the camera button. The lockscreen is a major security flaw too :/ Oh yeah, and I forgot to add that it shows the Sony dialer when calling a number

Random
Mostly works as intended.
The main weakness of this app is that one can easily uninstall the app by going to settings from a insecure lockscreen.
A lock widget will be a great idea.

That's interesting, it has worked on every phone I've tested. Did you set it as the default launcher?

Huh, I never thought of that scenario. I will totally create a widget for this; that's an excellent idea. Thanks!

Can't emergency call be used in these cases too? or does android set a time limit/phone number limit on these calls?

Emergency call can only be used to call emergency numbers, such as 911 or 112.

Did you set it as the default launcher? This is the source of the problem most of the time. Also, it has to use the phone's dialer; there's no way that can be changed unfortunately. The lockscreen issue has been brought to my attention and I will create a default lockscreen to solve this problem.
Very nice

Of course I have set it as default...
Well, nice try, but I guess this app will never be completely secure
Updated Icon/Banner
Hello OP, I am a graphic designer and I go about helping others creating new Icons or just making their current ones a bit better.
I took the time to edit your current icon and make it look a bit more detailed. I sure hope you like it if not its fine I do this for fun not a living :fingers-crossed:
Updated Banner:
Updated Icon:
On the new icon I could not fix the way the top two icons look a bit darker than the bottom ones.. I may have to redo this process.
But it sure does look better than before IMO :good:
Also if you need anything else just let me know. I can edit and email it to you whenever.

Sorry about that. Until the Android security policy changes, that's the only way your phone can be locked :/

Eh, I love the new icons you made. The thing is, the "x" was designed to show how the app blocks your access, which is why it looks squared off. Plus I really don't like flat icons. Make the red darker, give it a more 3D look, make a squared "x" and I'll consider it.
home button problems
There is a problem on xperia z1. I can exit app by just pressing "home" button (with "backward" button no problems).
