I need some info if someone has the time to help me. I am using Titanium Backup and it reports since I installed a new rom that the following files are no longer installed on my Droid and for some reason they are not backed up even though I backup regularly. Talkback.apk, Kickback.apk, Soundback.apk, System Updater 2.1 update 1.apk, and Alarm Clock 2.1 update 1.apk. It also showed that Sound Recorder was not installed but I was able to find, download and install that file just fine. I just need to find the others so I can download them. Can anyone point me to them or send them to me? Don't worry about the Titanium issue I just threw that in to let you know what was going on. Can someone please help me get t files. I have found no help anywhere else.

Hi i deleted mine thinking i can rely on hadcent app only but apparantly handcent needs the message app,
i receive the notification of a new txt message but when i go to handcent to read it, its not there in the conversation....
all i need is for someone to pull the message.apk and .odex file and upload it for me to download if they could be so kind...
thanks
Here you go. This is from Fresh Rom.
thanks but this is not what im looking for, i attempted to get the messages.apk and .odex file from all the roms available and its not there,
if you or anyone have droid explorer and can navigate to /system/app its in there and its called "messages.apk" , thats where i deleted mine from
I think you only need the .apk. The .odex will be built once it gets some configuration data.
ok cool, hoping someone takes 5 mins out of their day to pull just the apk file for me
sorry, i was trying to help out but....
the FRESH rom doesn't have that .apk it uses a "mms.apk"
so i'm going to try to get this posted for you, but
that will require me to recover back to last week before fresh, then pull the .apk and then post it then nandroid restore back to today..
if anyone is running a stock rom then they can pull it. otherwise it will be about 30 minutes..
ok cool thanks ill be patiently waiting
alright....
these files are from my stock-unrooted phone
i couldn't find a "messages.apk" but i grabbed all these hopefully you can make it work.
the only thing i can think of is that the MR update "fixed it" by replacing the stock messaging app. that makes sense right?
View attachment m.zip
edit:you could always flash the RUU and get them back.. or flash a nandroid backup from before you removed them.
got it working, it was the mms.apk file for some reaons it is labeled messages in droid explorer, lol shoulda tried this the first time around, not 4 or so nandroid restores later thanks guys =)
i just happened to have the same problem..
thank you so much for posting the apk. and odex..
u guys are a life saver.. ^____^
stock messaging app on htc inc
how did you re-install the stock messaging apk? when i try to do install it it acts like its installing then it just reboots and it does not install... i use to be able to receive pictures (mms) but now i can't receive at all. someone please help meeeeeeeeeeeeeee! thx i have the apk's on my SD card does it need to be on my phone in order to install it? sorry im a noob at this.
if all else fails (i did the same thing because i wanted a better stock messaging app) you can install go sms. its basically the same thing as handcent but i think it looks more professional.
it actually asked me if i had uninstalled the default messaging app and told me that if i said yes then it would just make itself the default so that was nice and simple =)
good luck. if not permanent this can just be a quick fix.
if someone finds a stock android messaging app that has bubbles please tell me =)
thanks
Mine says application not installed, omg, I accidentally deleted the Original Messaging File from my phone and I tried installing yours, but it says Application not installed. What do I do D:
Everyone, If you rooted your DroidX and removed CityID and/or GTalk and found out you can no longer download from the Android Market, heres what I did to fix it.
I searched and searched and found others who provided the stock, untainted .apk files for gtalk and cityId. I saved to pc, transfered to my SD card, then used the file manager to navigate and open them. I selected the manage option and selected " INSTALL "
Once done, I cleared the cash of the Market app, ran it and it worked!!!
I emediatly re-downloaded all my old apps bith free and paid. No problems.
Now I reset my phone to defaults first and then rooted it. I dont see why you would have to do that and i dont see a problem trying it if you phone is not rooted but thats up to you.
I discovered this fix when after the Market issue, i tried to install the leaked Froyo installer ZIP and kept getting an error refering to CityID.
Bassically it was saying it was checkeing for an update and files related to CityID and since mine where missing, it wouldnt install.
I thought that maybe this was also to blame for the Market download issue. Sure enough my inkling was right and now my phone is fixed.
FYI, if yo dont have CityID and/or GTalk installed, then the Froyo update wont install. Leaked or otherwise that I know of.
So if you had my problem, gve it a try. If for some reason you android market doesnt download, try replacing or re-installing the .apk files I attached and see if it fixes it.
Post here if you discover anything or need help.
Im not a programmer, just a PC Tech, so if things go wrong, sorry, I dint make you do it.
These attached files are for the DROID X.
WHy Google hasnt said anything about this is beyond me, but im sure they have known all along.
Cheers Android world, and Google, your welcome, i just may have saved you mucho customers. Enjoy.
Hey everyone I need some help
I just upgraded my Milestone to 2.2 using dexter's awesome method and it's running amazingly, the problem is I don't seem to have access to all the apps in the market anymore and I just got a car alarm installed that I can control from my phone and I can't seem to download it anymore from the market...
Now I tried using Market Enabler and it still wasn't there so I started to dig deeper and found that I had a Nandroid backup of it on my SD card, but instead of being a normal .APK it's a .ZIP file.
So I need everyone's help in figuring out how can we change this .ZIP into a workable .APK? I tried just changing the extension and it essentially looks like it will install the app but then says Installation Failed... What am I missing guys? There's got to be some way to get the app back!
Its the Viper SmartStart alarm app so if anyone can help me out please!!
I've definitely researched through the forums and haven't seen this problem/resolution, so I'm hoping someone can help me.
I installed Cyanogen 7 on my dad's HTC Hero (CDMA) and I think I may have botched it. I used Clockwork Mod's Rom Manager to do a backup of the HTC Sense 2.1, and then began updating to CM7. The update went brilliantly, but my dad realized he hadn't put all his contacts into his google account, some of which would be extremely nice for him to get back.
Un-worried, I pulled up clockwork mod and went to the manage backup and recovery but found no backup. Puzzled, I used file manager to dig through the directory and found the backup it said it made, but I can't seem to point the mod at it. I copied the recovery file into a variety of different basic folders, as some basic google fu suggested it might simply need to be in the right folder.
None of that worked and I couldn't find a similar problem in the folder, so I turn to you all. To create the recovery, I simply clicked Backup Current Rom, it rebooted, created a backup and reloaded, giving me the recovery file: recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.7-heroc.... Can't read the rest, but that should give you an idea. It's only 2.29 megs, which feels small, but who knows what you need for a recovery file.
I feel like I missed something important, but I can't figure it out. Anyone? Ideas? Help? Suggestions? Thanks so much.
If it's only 2.2 mbs, something went wrong. It should be approximately the size of the phone's used internal memory.
If you want to attempt to restore the backup, you can reboot into recovery, then restore manually instead of through Rom Manager.

I rooted my phone and besides that got totally lost. I deleted my camera while using titanium backup, please help me get it back, I swear I'll never attempt to be smart again.
If you backed it up properly it'll be at the bottom of the list and greyed / crossed out. You'll be able to restore it from there.
If not, search for something like yourphonehere camera apk 2.2, then download it to your phone and install it from Downloads or a file manager.
